Chapter 1

AN: I haven’t written a story in 5 years and I’m pretty darn sure I am rusty. But guess what, buck-ohs, I’ve been watching anime and I just got ideas. I’m so sad I didn’t continue with writing and making up crazy ass fanfiction. BUT HERE GOES! AHAHAHA ENJOY MY MOTHERFUCKING WORK SUCKERS. THIS BITCH IS BACK.

Chapter 1

Kagome combed her fingers through her hair briefly as she flipped through the bulky textbook, pausing as she quickly skimmed over the page and jotted something quickly down in her notebook. She glanced up at the clock, grumbling incoherently when she realized it was way past bed time and she’d have a difficult time waking up in the morning for class.

Why would anyone assign memorizing twenty types of medication, ranging from the side effects, contraindications, and to the names of other drugs that did the similar thing for one night and then have a quiz on it the next day?

She grimaced and rubbed the bridge of her nose, scowling again at her thoughts.

Someone who thinks that nursing students don’t have lives outside of class. And who hates puppies. And probably worships Satan. That’s who.

Pushing herself away from her desk, away from her studies, she stretched slowly and yawned, her body jolting when her cell phone vibrated loudly against the wooden surface.  Checking the screen, the right corner of her lips lifted into a crooked smile.

“What is it, dog boy?”  She greeted, tapping at the screen on her phone to put it on speaker.

There was a snort on the other line and a gruff chuckle.

“I didn’t expect you to pick up.”

“Why’s that?”

“You’re old and you should be sleeping.” There was a short pause. “And you’re boring too. What are you doing?”

“I just finished my pharmacology paper and I’m heading to bed. I’m not old, you jerk. It’s almost midnight and I have to wake up early tomorrow. Are you checking up on me?” She stood up, taking her phone with her and making her way towards the soft pink comforter, pillows, and her lonely bed that was beckoning to her.

“Come out.”

“Inu Yasha, I’m tired. I’m about to cuddle up by my lonesome self and--”

“--Have wet dreams about me, I know” He cut her off and grinned when she snorted, “But trust me I have something better than that. Just come out and see me.”

Kagome rolled her eyes and sighed.

“As much as I would love to step outside and freeze my tail off, I’d rather be warm and cozy. But because I’m forced to be your friend and you don’t have any other friends, how about you come inside?” She smiled when she heard a chuckle and a forced fake sigh.

“Then open up the door. It’s cold as shit outside.”

Walking out of her room, through the hall and past the small kitchen of the house she was renting, she opened the door to be greeted by twinkling amber eyes and twitching white triangle ears perched on top of silver hair. She smiled as she stretched her arms out and was embraced, then proceeded to bury her face in the grey pea coat her best friend wore.

They had known each other since childhood. Memories of living at the local shrine her mother and grandfather ran, of the dog demons that lived nearby, and of Inu Yasha as a young boy back then washed over her for a split second. Back then, everything was so simple as children. Monsters were now less frightening as people were.

“I actually didn’t have anything better than a wet dream of me, that’s about as good as it gets.” Inu Yasha confessed, “I was just trying to get you out of this cave.”

Kagome groaned and stepped back, allowing the man to step inside the house and away from the autumn cold.

“I knew it. And this isn’t a cave, Inu Yasha. You know how busy I am and—what are you doing?”

She watched with narrowed eyes as he made a beeline for her kitchen and into her pantry.

“I’m hungry and cold and starving and I know you love me enough to feed me.” He grabbed a few bowls of instant ramen and gave a toothy grin.

“Okay, I’m tired. And I have to wake up tomorrow morning early. I’m gonna go shower.” She shook her head and turned towards her bathroom, pausing when Inu Yasha moved towards to follow her. “ALONE.”

“You’re so weird. You never want me to take showers with you anymore.” He complained, feigning seriousness. He inwardly chuckled when she sputtered.

Weird?  We haven’t showered together since we were four years old, Inu Yasha. And even then, I didn’t want to shower with you because you kept making fun of me for not having something you did. Like you wanted to play pirates to sword fight.”

Inu Yasha burst out laughing and headed back to the kitchen. “Okay, geez. I won’t bug you anymore. But you know, if you ever get the urge to take a shower with me, I promise I won’t make fun of you. Or try to sword fight.”

She shook her head again and rolled her eyes.

“Whatever, stay out of my way until I’m done.”

Kagome gave another yawn as she slightly adjusted herself in her bed, scowling as she glanced over to her right side and back to the flat screen T.V on her wall.

“I didn’t know you wanted to have a sleep over too after you ate all of my dinner for the next week.” She remarked dryly, her scowl deepening when she felt arms wrap around her and pull her against a warm body.

“Sango’s not here.” He said softly.

Sango was Kagome’s roommate and her other best friend. They had gone to school together and had taken up the same career route in the medical field. Usually the older brunette was home but tonight she had decided to stay over her boyfriend’s apartment.

“And your point is?”

“Kagome, I know you don’t like being alone in the house.”

She gave an exasperated noise and pushed herself slightly away from his body to give him one of those ‘I’m-a-big-girl-and-I’m-not-scared-of-anything’ look.

“Seriously, Inu Yasha. I’m not a baby anymore, I’m twenty. When Sango’s off with Miroku, I’m completely fine--”

“—What about your nightmares?”

She stiffened.

“I know you’ve been dreaming about him again.” She felt him rest his chin on top of her head and remained silent. “I know it’s not just school that’s kept you so stressed, or work--”

“Okay, Inu Yasha, drop it. Yeah the nightmares are back but I’ve been dealing with it and I’m fine. Can we go to sleep now?”

She grabbed the thick pink blanket and wrapped it more snugly around her shoulders, not bothering to wait for a response, and sighed softly when Inu Yasha pulled her against him, his chest warm and comforting against her back.

“You’re so snarky and cranky tonight.” He commented under his breath.

“No funny business tonight, Inu Yasha.” She softly smiled when she heard him give a mock gasp of shock.

“Me? Doing funny business?” He snorted. “I’m all about serious business. Like seriously hot and sexy business.”

“Not funny. Good night.”

“Wait, Kagome.”

“What?”

There was a slight pause and she could already tell he was hesitant to ask her something.

“Nothing. Never mind. Good night, Kagome.”

She frowned. Usually he spoke his mind. He was brash, loud and blunt. Especially with her and that’s what got him into most trouble. But if he didn’t want to talk about something, it was best not to prod.

She dismissed it and closed her eyes, allowing sleep to overtake her.

Kagome was hot. Sweating and sticky hot. Uncomfortably hot.  And the most annoying part of being hot was the way her clothes clung to her hot and sweaty skin. Groaning in annoyance she kicked off the comforter and proceeded to remove her clothes, her eyes still closed, until she was only clad in black lacey panties and a white tank top.

Finally comfortable, and less sweaty she crawled back under her sheets, and curled up, slowly drifting back to sleep.

Her eyes flew open and she gave a sharp yelp when she felt a clawed hand wrap around her belly and harshly pull her towards something firm, a growl slicing the silence like a hot knife through butter.

I forgot he was here!

She felt her cheeks heat up as she remembered that she had just taken the majority of her clothes off and was now lying near naked against a half demon.

“Inu.. Yasha?”

She squirmed and gave another surprised cry when she found herself under the demon. She looked up into glowing amber eyes, noting the slit pupils, and her breath hitched.

Awkward..

“Inu Yasha?”

Her answer was a soft growl and she felt him lower his body closer to her body until she could feel his breath against her neck.

“You smell good..” He softly murmured. His fingers grazed the bare flesh of her stomach and she swallowed audibly.

He was no longer the little boy she used to play with, she had known this long before. To other people, it was strange that she and the half demon had been inseparable from childhood into adult hood and no intimate relationship had happened. Although Kagome had feelings for him as a teen, it was like he had been forcing himself into the friend zone.  They had dated other people and kept everything platonic.

Until now.
