Blinding the Consequences

I've been thinking of this story for some time now, when it came time to post this I suddenly realize I have no name for it- This definitely strange for me since I often have a name before I have an even semi complete story-
A little embarrassing really, so I just gave this fic the a title, the first word that comes to mind in this. Consequences, it really didn't make complete sense so I added blinding- still doesn't make sense- But, this is what it is stuck with. enjoy, I look forward to feed back.

It had been 200 year since his sibling had gone missing.
When he first disappeared this did not cause alarm, the child was know for finding places to hide for days. Most often he would disappear into one of the gardens that where not longer tended. These wild and over grown places called to the little hanyou.
The child had a wild streak, that made him go from shy and quiet, to loud and tearing through the halls in moments. After three days of complete silence and not even a flash of red and silver. The staff used to at least catching glimpse for the boy, the staff began to worry.
Sesshomaru began to grow impatient with the puppy for his lack of consideration, on the fourth day.
By the fifth day the entire palace was being turned upside down looking to for the hanyou.
Fifteen days later, the Lord of the Western Land realized he had lost his half brother.
There had been a great deal of speculation on what had happened to the little pup. Tho there never was any proof the back up the speculation. The gardens that his little brother had taken favor to had been groomed to see if perhaps by some chance the child had met a ill fate. Some speculated that the child had ran away. It was not a secret the boy was mourning his dead mother. A sorrow the little pup didn't completely understand, there where time, he would be found trying to go to his mothers grave and would have to be brought back with much force. There where too many thing the unpredictable pup could do.
Either way the pup had not been found.


Kouga walked through the hall to Sesshomaru's study, he rapped on the door before letting himself in. The Youkai Lord was engrossed in the some papers, he looked up to reprimand the one rude enough that dared interrupt this time, but raised and eyebrow at the wolf demon.
Kouga sat breathing hard for a moment. A servant rushed in to bring refreshment for the unexpected guest.
Sesshomaru sat quietly waiting wondering what had caused his friend to run himself so hard that it was hard for him to breathe.
"I think I found InuYasha."
"You think." he returned in a deep monotone.
"More than think,” he dug in a small satchel at his belt, and pulled out a lock of hair.
Sesshomaru stood walking around the desk to take it from his hand.
He could smell the scent that was distinctly his brothers.
"The scent on this hair is weak."
Kouga glared at his friend, even tho he understood his skepticism completely. There had been many, too many false sightings of the pup. But this was the first real clue they had.
"He is being held captive, word is that he has been there since he disappeared back then."
Sesshomaru knew like himself ,Kouga had offered a reward for any information on the where about of his little brother.
"Being held captive" he said looking at the smooth lock of hair in his fingers, it was long whoever had cut this lock would have taken it from very close to the pup's scalp.
"why had we not heard of this before?" he wondered aloud.
Kouga sat back in the chair.
"He's in unclaimed territory, a place for outlaws, murders and thieves."
He didn't like the thought of his younger sibling being held with such a flavor of person,demon or no. Considering the possibilities, the pup could have been captured, perhaps they meant to ransom him and by accident ended his life.
Sesshomaru growled deep in his throat at the though InuYasha in the hands of such people at such an age. He'd never cared for his brother, to the extent that it teetered on the brink of hate, but he felt honor bound to take the hanyou in after his mother had passed away. It had taken a great deal just to find the child after his mothers death. Since the child had been chased from his mother house shortly after her death.
He could never bring himself to mourn the child's absence at first, he'd secretly thought of it as a blessing.
But that was when he thought the boy had just run back to the forest.
Now, the out come appeared to be other wise.
Kouga watched the elder dog demon as he became lost in his own thoughts.
"It is not a land under any sort of law and the man that will guide us could very well be masterminding a trap."
He paused.
"But, it is the first real proof I have seen of him in over 200 years."
Sesshomaru was the calm in this, Kouga was known for acting without much thought he was more rash and excitable than his friend and ally. He'd been tempted to take the guide and seek out the young pup on his own.
Wolf demons had pride as great as the dog demon and he ruled the lands bordering the InuYokai kingdom. He had those who kept an ear tot he ground for any info on the missing prince.
He had a feeling about his one, a good feeling in finding the young prince, but a bad one in how they would find him. If he was dead, there would be consequences, as it would be if he was alive. But. it would ease the tension the inuyoukai had been carrying since the pup had disappeared.

Golden eyes look out on the lands ruled by outlaws, it seemed small and insignificant in the greater scheme.
But right now it had the possibility of holding someone of great import, the six demon that followed him where his own and traveled with him regularly on long distance travels. Kouga looked up at his friend they where at the edge of his lands, Four of his most trusted men where scouting ahead, they knew some of the land ahead of them and had the guide with them. Kouga had a feeling he was hoping for some sort of reward for his help. Most would have given them a direction and left them to their own devices. This one appeared to have invested a great deal in the endeavor.
From the distance a howl was heard from his scouts.
Signaling that it was safe to proceed.
"The guide is still with us"
Kouga said in a low voice as they moved forward.
Sesshomaru gave slight nod as his eyes and ears listened for anything that might give away the trap they where in some ways expecting.
Kouga looked up to the mountain cliffs high above them and spotted his scout moving in tandem with there own movements. He saw there guide moving with them his eyes forward as he was watched as they did.
"He has not mention how he came about the hair."
Sesshomaru said.
"He hasn't spoken much at all,."
"I smell fear on him, it differs from the scent of deception."
Kouga nodded.
The guide had mention that the destination was less than a day from the border of the wolf demons lands. When asked how if he knew the prince was alive he said he did not know, and could not guarantee the prince was there at all. The smell of fear had become strong when asked how he came by the hair. The demon would pull away, and fall silent at any further questions.
They all kept conversation at a minimum while in the canon it was after all a perfect place for an ambush. Even with Kouga's four up top to stop any from surprising them.
There a a level of relief once they reached the exit of the canyon.
They where still within the mountains as they made there where through a virtual maze, with the guide leading them Sesshomaru understood now why the guide insisted upon leading them. Kouga and Sesshomaru,looked at the guide as they where stopped at was curiously like and entrance to clearing where the dusty ground was entirely too smooth to be natural, in the middle of this clearing was an odd formation of smoothed oval boulders of many sizes seemingly stacked haphazardly upon each other.
"It's there."
The young demon said pointing at an odd rock formation.
"That is what I was told, there is a problem."
He looked back at the two demon prince.
"Very few have been in there, and those that have rarely return, unless hired to work there. My brother went in, he'd heard of your brother and the reward offered for his return. He'd heard about the silver hair prince that was being kept in this place. He figured he'd get in, get the prince out and collect the money. But, my brother has not returned in well over a month and no one has heard from him."
The young demon looked back at the rocks.
"He gave me that lock of hair and said to get it to you and you would find a way."
Kouga looked towards the rocks.
"Your brother hoped for more than reward money."
The demon looked back.
"There is much about my family that I wish the world would forget. we wanted a different life and future. But you have to do some thing that dwarfs the action of the past. "
He looked at Sesshomaru.
"Now, you want your brother back and i want mine, also. I know that if he couldn't get in and out of there, than I wouldn't be able to either, not by myself."
"Whom does this lair belong to?"
Sesshomaru asked.
" No one knows, they just know that there are traps to get to it and very few get out. There are men who get hired to be there but they don't talk about it. Some say he nothing but a shadow, some say he's a half breed, . But no one really knows. Not even those he hires have laid eyes on him he only calls them back when he is absent. All that he has hired have been called back into service tho, so that means he is not there. I figured that would give us a better chance.'
Kouga rolled his eyes.
"Neither one of us care for careful action in a situation as this. It just means we will have to hunt down the keeper later."
Sesshomaru signaled for Kohame to come forward to try and sense what kind of traps might lie in wait.
"My first regard is my brother, to find out weather he is alive or dead or even in that place, then I will find the one who dared take him, and deal with him appropriately."
Kohame was a raven, next foxes they felt out for traps, better than any he was aware of. The formation was in a clearing mountain side shot up around it. They could clearly see the opening in to the fortress.
The demons black eyes scanned the view before them.
"Archers in the cliffs, they have not seen us as of yet, there is something magic out there, it stinks of tainted magic . I have never seen it before."
He looked up as Sesshomaru.
"I am sorry my lord that is all I can see.'
The inuyoukai nodded.
Kouga looked back as two of his four and sent them up to tend to the archers.
"They will signal us once that is done."
They all listened to the short yips signaling the death of whatever archers where once high on the cliffs. Aoi the fox demon came forward,
"My lord, please allow me to go ahead, if it is a trap I will be able to set it off and escape."
Sesshomaru always wondered why the fox seemed to put himself in suicidal situation, but allowed him to go none the less.
"That Aoi ,I would love to know why he wants to die, and why you keep him as part of your main crew."
Sesshomaru smiled a little , making Kouga wonder what the secret was.
The fox moved swiftly forward his his own arrow ready to fly.
He was halfway to the formation when the ground beneath him gave way turning to quicksand. The fox fell a wolf had a rope to him in quick time pulling him out of the mire, they sprinted to the entrance.
Kouga looked at the inuyoukai.
"That ought to be easy enough.'
“If it is the same trap each time."
The raven said.
"we will go out in intervals so that no one is taken together. it will be easy to avoid since we have some idea what to expect.'
The outside trap was less than the Sesshomaru had expected from one who build a fortress out here and bothered to steal his little brother.
He had a feeling that the one who did this was feeling way to cocky or was expecting an intruder to relax a little more once in side.
But, he also made note where he set this fortress up in lands that had no lord, no a organized force and a place no one really wanted. He was not expecting any one with any experience to deal with this place to come forth.
By the time they where well in to the formation which turned out to have well maze like corridors, much like the mountains that had lead to this place. He was beginning to wonder if his brother was really in here. The fight was in close quarters but not impossible and he'd seen rooms but not one true cell and he would have need to one to keep InuYasha in, the boy was impossible to keep in one place.
They all just ended up opening doors, often find nothing at all inside.
Sesshomaru was losing patience with this game, he would nto have his men killed for invading and searching through an empty building.
He was caught off guard upon opening yet another door to find it to be a bedroom of some sort. His eye locked on a figure in the bed,laying sleeping deeply enough that the fighting did not rouse them.
He moved swiftly to the bed and pulling up the person in it, and stopped cold.
As frighten gold eye darted away from him and the free arm was held up to guard from blow.
"Inuyasha." Sesshomaru said in question.
The pup looked at him in question, then his eyes darted quickly away again, ear flattened against his short silver hair.
The boy was bruised, his back and torso showed new and slow healing wounds, his hair was cut short and looked haphazard as if done with a dull knife or scissors. The hanyou didn't try to pull his arm away he just sat there waiting,
Kouga came quickly into the room and stopped once he took notice of the pup on the bed.
He wrinkled his nose but said nothing of the smell of blood and sex in the room.
"Sesshomaru, we have to get him out of here."
It seemed almost surreal that he'd finally found his little brother, and found him alive so many years after he'd been lost.
"We have to go InuYasha."
He said nothing only looked at Kouga near the door and shook his head.
"Yes, we must."
He pulled InuYasha off the bed, and once off InuYasha began to struggle trying to get back on the bed. Sesshomaru had no time for this fight he had to get him out now before his men where over run.
“Forgive me” He said to the struggling hanyou.
Before punching him the jaw, knocking the boy unconscious, he covered him with a fur that was on the bed and hoisted him over his shoulder.
And began to navigate the maze out of the formation, his men fighting to make away out.
They found there guide at the entrance, he was staring out of it, he turned as they approached.
Even Sesshomaru flinched a little at the sadness in his eyes.
"Good" he said softly "You found him."
"Come" Kouga said
The young Youkai nodded and began to walk out the doorway, uncaring of the trap that lay in wait for him once he reached to right point. By the time anyone noticed it was too late.


I have this story mostly finished,I will be uploading a little at a time as I edit it- I am a horrible editor so I apologize for any mistakes left to torture you-
