What's A Dragon to Do?
I had done this story earlier and I took it off. I changed a few things and it seems right to me now. I hope you all enjoy it.
What's A Dragon to Do?
Rin stood in the garden and watched as Sesshoumaru took off on his cloud and sighed. He is always leaving me and now I have to put up with Jaken. He isn't too bad but I would rather have a mom to watch over me. Jaken would be yelling at her soon and then she would have to go into the castle.
Jaken didn't like for her to play with the flowers. Maybe I would get to play more with them if I didn't always make him wear them. But she only got to do that when Lord Sesshoumaru was around. Then Jaken wouldn't complain, well not too much. She turned her head when she saw Jaken waddling toward her. It was time to go in now. She sighed and followed the imp into the castle.
~ A couple of days later~
Rin looked around the room making sure no one was around. She didn't see anyone. She silently made her way to the door and opened it softly so it would not alert Jaken to her where abouts. Rin shut the door and had to hold back her cry of relief as she ran to the stable.
Jaken hadn't let her see Ah Un for two whole days. She ran into the stable and to their stall. She could hear Ah and Un trumpet their pleasure when she came into the stable. They had missed her also. Rin was glad at least someone missed her. She liked Ah and Un they let her ride them and they didn't seem to mind when I covered them with flowers.
Ah and Un could smell Rin coming toward the stable and when she opened the door they trumpeted their hello. They liked the small child, and she took good care of them. As they saw her approach closer they leaned over the stall and Ah nuzzled her head with his nose as they heard her giggle.
"I have missed you Ah and Un. Jaken wouldn't let me come and see you so I had to sneak out. You must be quiet or Jaken will find me." Rin watched the dragon's heads nod up and down. "I think Ah and Un understand me."
Ah and Un looked at each other. Ah turned his head to look at Un (telepathically). "After all this time you would think she would have learned we can understand her."
Un looked back at Ah "I wonder what Rin would think if she knew we could read her thoughts also?"
They knew that Rin was special. There was not many humans who would care for a dragon like she did. Most humans ran from them screaming and throwing weapons at them.
They watched as Rin got a stiff brush from the edge of the stall and brushed their scales. They really liked it when she did that. It felt so good. They lowered their heads so the child could reach them. Then they heard Rin sigh.
"Something is not well with the child Ah." Un placed his head on Rin's for a few seconds.
"She is lonely. Lord Sesshoumaru left her with Jaken again. She wishes for a mother?"
Ah leaned his head down and rubbed his head along Rin's back. He let her know that someone cared for her. They turned their head when the stable doors opened and growled slightly when they saw the imp Jaken appear. Couldn't he have at least waited till she was done brushing them?
They watched the imp yell at Rin and when Rin left the stall the imp tried to hit the child with his staff. They didn't like the imp very much. They only let him ride them because Lord Sesshoumaru asked them too. If it wasn't for that they probably would have ate him long ago.
Even if they didn't eat meat they would make Jaken the exception no matter how foul he had to taste. And if his stench was anything to go on it had to be very bad indeed.
They watched the child being drug from the stable and sighed as she gave them one last forlorn look before running out of the stable with the imp trying to keep up and Rin trying to avoid being hit by the imps staff.
"We have do something to help the child." Un nodded his head. "Lets find the child a mother then. That would make her happy. We will go tonight and begin our search."
Ah nodded ok then they laid down to rest. It might be a long night.
Night came to the western lands. As the darkness spread the sounds of the castle quieted. Everyone was settling down for the night, everyone but the dragon in the stable. It let itself out of its stall and out of the stable. When it was far enough away from castle it took to the air. It flew over many villages.
"I still don't see anyone worthy enough to be her mother." Ah turned his head to Un and frowned a little.
"Do you think it could possibly be due to the fact we are looking at night? Seriously Ah how many females, human or demon travel at night? Only the most powerful ones would dare to be out at night and I am sure that most of them would not turn out to be mother material. We will go a little further. Maybe by some miracle of a chance we can find someone worthy of being Rins mother." Un lowered his head and searched the forest below them as they flew on through the night.
"There is someone down there. I sense a great power but it doesn't appear to be a demon. Let's see what it is." The dragon flew to the top of the trees and hovered above them.
"I can feel it headed this way. Cover our aura and scent and we will watch."
Kagome watched Miroku starting a fire and Sango polishing her boomerang and occasionally shooting the monk killer glares.
"Inuyasha, Shippou and I are going to the hot springs we passed not long ago. We will be back in a little while." Kagome watched him just frown at her then she grabbed her pack and bow and held out her arms for Shippou to jump into them. When he did she started walking into the forest.
Inuyasha jumped down from his perch in the tree when Kagome got closer to him.
"Wench it's not safe for you to be out in the forest at night."
Kagome held onto Shippou and frowned at Inuyasha
"I need a bath and I am sure that if anything tries to attack us Shippou and I could hold them off long enough for you to rescue us." Kagome made to step around him but once again Inuyasha jumped in front of her and stopped her.
Miroku listened to the exchange between the hanyou and the miko.
"You know Kagome I bet if I went with you then Inuyasha would be less worried for your safety. And I humbly offer my services to you as a back washer." Miroku heard a noise beside him and looked around to see an angry Sango bearing down on him. She had her boomerang gripped in her fist and he could tell by the look on her face he would soon be suffering from a Sango induced headache.
Inuyasha watched the monk falling to the ground and he could have almost swore he saw stars circling the monk's head. He turned back around to face Kagome and she was nowhere in sight. She had disappeared while he watched Miroku being knocked out. He turned to follow her into the forest and was stopped when the same boomerang that knocked the monk out landed in front of him.
"What do you think you are doing Sango?"
"Kagome wants to take a bath Inuyasha and you will not stop her. I am getting tired of how you and Miroku are always treating Kagome and me. Always telling us when we can do something, telling us one thing then as soon as another person gets near you then you forget all about us. Do you two consider our feelings? No you don't. Kagome doesn't ask for much from you and every time you turn around you are hollering at her and putting her down and telling her she can't go home or can't take a bath. Well it stops now. You will be civil to her or from now on you will answer to me. Do I make my self clear? Besides Kagome can take care of herself better than you think."
Sango knew this for a fact. She and Kaede had been training Kagome secretly at night when the boys disappeared. She didn't know what they did every night but she had a good idea. She wasn't as blind as both Miroku and Inuyasha thought she was. She saw the way the village girls had been looking at them lately.
Sango retrieved her weapon and returned to sit by the fire. Boy it felt good to finally get that off her chest. She kept an eye on the hanyou as he jumped back into his tree and glared at her. She smiled at him and she heard his "Feh" but she watched as he settled down and seemed to fall asleep.
Kagome took Sango beating Miroku unconscious as a means to get past Inuyasha. She could have just sat him but she was getting kind of tired of doing that lately. And only used it in emergencies or out of extreme anger. She expected for Inuyasha to jump out of a tree and drag her back to camp but when that didn't happen she merrily continued on her way to the hot springs. She looked down at her pup and smiled
"I guess he decided I could take a bath. Or maybe Sango knocked him out also."
Shippou laughed and looked up at his new mother.
"Hey Kagome, I always wondered why do you take baths all the time?" Shippou climbed onto her shoulders and watched the path Kagome was taking.
"Well Shippou where I come from we take baths everyday. Sometimes more than one." Kagome laughed when Shippou's tail started moving back and forth around her neck. "Shippou that tickles."
"Sorry Kagome. Why did you bring me along with you?" Shippou frowned at Kagome this time. "I don't mind taking baths with you because I like playing in the water but you usually bring Sango with us as well."
"Sango was still mad at Miroku for asking that villager to bear his child then he turned around and groped her. She wasn't in the mood for a bath tonight. So it's just me and you tonight." Kagome lifted the kitsune off her shoulders and into her arms. "Almost there." She looked ahead of her and saw the steam rising from the spring ahead of them.
Ah watched the girl and the kitsune. She was nice to the demon pup even though she was a human. He watched her laugh with the pup and talk to him. She didn't yell at him or hit him or anything mean.
"I think we found the one we were searching for."
Un nodded his head "I agree she would make a good mother for Rin." He watched the girl go a little further into the forest.
"She must be headed for the hot springs up ahead. How are we going to get her?"
"That's easy we will just use our electric blast, but only enough to knock her and the pup out. We don't want to hurt them." They flew above Kagome and a blast of energy left Ah's mouth. It hit the pair on the ground and the dragon watched them crumple to the forest floor. They flew down and Ah took Kagome and Un took Shippou and placed them on their back.
"Now all we have to worry about is Sesshoumaru. He will not want to keep the human."
Un had forgotten about Sesshoumaru. "We will worry about him when we return home." With that said they flew off toward the castle.
