The Labarynth

This story will contain scenes of sexuality, and/or violence including physical, and sexual. Probably more when I get there. If you don't like these aspects of a story, please don't. Also, don't flame me if you don't like what you see, you've been warned. Most of all, enjoy. :)

AN: This takes place just after Kikyou's death. If I have any errors in characters or story line flow, let me know please.

Chapter One - The Labarynth

The night was cold, and the clouds had begun to roll in. Peace had rolled over the night, and despite the chill, it was actually a pretty calm night. Kagome and everyone else had fallen asleep by the fire; InuYasha was the only one left awake. Whether it be the approaching rain or the faint breeze in the color-changing trees, he couldn't sleep. Something was keeping him up. His gold eyes shifted skywards; the moon was almost completely full tonight. It would only be a few nights more before it would be totally full. As usual, Naraku's barrier at Mount Hakurei was stronger than usual. Just like himself, Naraku was weakest at the full moon. Maybe that had something to do with his inability to sleep.
InuYasha let his eyes fall to the sleeping form of Kagome. The poor girl could've just gone home to sleep. But she'd insisted on staying here the last few nights, ever since Kikyou was slain. Even that wasn't a sure thing either; some had seen her heading east. If he ran off to find her, Kagome would probably get mad at him. But if he didn't, and Kikyou needed him again...
A rustle in the bushes caught his immediate attention. The damn wing wasn't in his favor, and so, he perked his ears as he ran off to hunt whatever it was. Probably nothing good. His form slid easily through the clump of trees nearby, and as soon as he landed on the other side, a shadow raced away. Something was definitely up. He again raced after it, a palm resting on Tetsusaiga just in case. He was gaining on it.
"HEY! STOP!" he yelled at it, as if it was going to listen. Stunningly enough, the shadow slid to a stop. The figure was none other than- "KAGURA! Why were you spying on us?" InuYasha demanded, pulling Tetsusaiga from it's sheath.
"Put the blade away, InuYasha. I'm not here to fight you. I wanted to get you away from them so you don't wake them up."
"What's the point of THAT you stupid wench! I wasn't making noise. You took me all the way out here to tell me to shut up?"
"No, InuYasha. Listen to me. Naraku has gotten a hold of 8 tainted shards."
"So? What else is new?" Kagura twitched. The mutt wasn't very receptive.
"Listen to me. He's hiding them in the core of a labarynth he's made in Mount Hakurei because he's too weak to protect them himself. He doesn't trust the rest of us with them."
"Why the hell are you telling me that? I can't get through that barrier of his."
"But I can, InuYasha. I can let you in." InuYasha sheathed his blade, and crossed his arms over his chest with an indignant snort.
"Why're you offering? Something tells me you've got a trick under your sleeves. You've never helped us before."
"Naraku told me that he doesn't trust me enough to leave them in my care. I'm going to let you in to show him exactly why he should trust me next time."
"By letting me in and letting me take the shards? Don't you think he'll catch on to that?"
"He'll be too weak to notice, he'll depend on the barrier and myself to protect him. If I let you in, he won't even know you're there. He can think that a demon stole them or something, I don't care."
"Hmph. I still smell a rat here. But if you're going to let me in, I guess I can just kill you if you try anything stupid."
"You can't bring any of your friends with you. I can mask one extra presence, but not more. I'll meet you at the north end of Mount Hakurei in the morning." Kagura then dashed off, quick to trigger her feather, and float away, leaving a contemplative InuYasha alone. Why was Kagura REALLY helping? It wasn't about trust. He shook his head, and started back to the campsite.

"InuYasha, are you sure about this?" questioned a concerned Kagome. She didn't like the idea of InuYasha running about in Mount Hakurei all alone so close to the full moon. "What if you're mortal, and Naraku senses you?"
"Hmph. I can take care of myself, Kagome. Don't forget, he'll be weak too. I'll be in and out faster than he can recover."
"InuYasha, I must insist that you at least bring Kirara." interjected Miroku.
"I can't. Kagura said she can't mask two of us. Naraku would know something's up if there was someone inside his labarynth. I'll be FINE, guys. It's not even the full moon yet tonight." Kagome still didn't like it. But if they could get those eight shards...
"...Be careful, okay InuYasha?" she spoke up, meekly. She knew there was no stopping him. His gold eyes slid to her as he put his hand on her shoulder.
"I'll be fine, Kagome." He turned, and dashed off, not wanting to keep the whole process held up. "WISH ME LUCK!" Kagome watched him leave, with a heavy heart. Something about this whole situation reeked of treachery. Sango stepped over to her, and put an arm around her side, watching InuYasha as well.
"He knows what he's doing."
"So does Kagura, that's what I'm worried about."

----------------------------------

Will InuYasha be walking straight into a trap, or is Kagura telling the truth about everything? Is the Labarynth even real? R & R! Small chapter. But I'll get a longer one out soon.
