When the worlds collide

Kagome walked down the hallway, headed for home, now that another tough day of school was over. She was just glad to be on her way out the building, her brain feeling frizzled after trying to absorb all the new materiel that she had been missing out on, what with her forays into the era of five hundred years past and all that.

'I can't believe Grandpa used dementia as an illness excuse for me missing school. The last thing I needed was for everyone to look at my like I was retarded or something like that.' Kagome thought to herself, remembering the looks that she had recieved from the other students in class when the teacher asked her if she was feeling better.

Boy, had her cheeks been red after that one!

And the jeers and whispering behind her back, even by her closest friends, had just been icing on the cake of pain.

Although, after a long hard day of trying to catch up, she could probably qualify for the disease if she went to a local clinic and took a test.

Here she was, Kagome Higurashi, a sophmore in high school, aged sixteen, although her seventeenth birthday was only about three weeks away.

About two years ago, she had fallen through an ancient well into the past, and ever since then, had led a double life of sorts, although it had been very hard to keep up both her studies in the present and her duties in the past.

"Well well well, look who it is." came a voice from in front of her, distracting her from her thoughts.

Kagome looked up to see a group of four high school juniors standing in front of her, big scruffy looking men who probably played on the soccer or football team for their high school.

"Yeah, it's the retarded girl. The one who was out for so long with dementia..." drooled another one, his eyes traveling up and down her body.

Suddenly feeling uncomfortable, Kagome stopped in her tracks.

"Uh...hi guys...." stammered Kagome.

"Oh look, she can talk. How about that? Way to go girl!" cheered on the third junior.

"Uhh...heh heh..." Kagome laughed lightly, hoping that harrassing her was all that they were doing.

The fourth junior had moved closer to her, and laid one of his hands on her shoulder.

"Hey..Kagome...wanna come have a good time with us?" he asked, his mouth widening into a big grin.

"Yeah, we'll give you lots of candy and milk, that's a promise!" chirped in the second junior kid again, his face also awash in a smile.

"Uh guys, I'm not really..." Kagome started to explain, when the second junior kid stepped to her other side.

"What are you..." she started, then yelped as one of their hands groped her behind.

With a shriek, she slapped him across the face, leaving a nice little pink palmprint on his left cheek.

"Ooh, the retard has spunk." spoke up the first junior kid again.

"What should we do with her boss?" asked the second junior kid, holding a hand over the sensitive skin on his cheek.

"Let's have a little fun with her. Bring her along boys." replied the boss as he began walking torwards the men's locker room, abandonded at this time of day.

"No, put me down!" said Kagome as the second and fourth junior kids lifted her by the shoulders and carried her with them. One of them clamped a hand over her mouth to keep her from talking over scream.

With her struggling form in between them, the four junior kids hauled a struggling Kagome into the men's locker room, and an unknown fate....
