Chapter 01: Kagura Attacks

'You will slay the dog lord...' the phrase chanted endlessly, deep in the corridoors of the young woman's mind. The tone was barbaric, carrying implied torture upon failure. Her heart would quake with fear, if she'd had one to bare. Master of both her heart and life, the cruel arachnid demon dispatched her to crusade for Lord Sesshoumaru's life.

The wind goddess carried divine beauty, far beyond that of mortal women. Long, ebony locks were neatly kept in a Chinese fashion bun. Ivory feathers further decorated the demon maiden. Pointed ears, a moonlight complextion and crimson eyes were somewhat eerie, yet amplified her allure. Elegant robings of a white kimono with violet stripes for decor, complimented her fine physique.

She'd sailed gracefully through the sunfire sky, the winds whipping gently upon her back. Resting upon the enchanted feather, was her young companion; a demon slayer. Kohaku. The name her master commanded, when insisting his presence upon the mission. As always, mute with a stoic visage.

Deep mocha pools projected his golem features. Thick cocoa hair was pulled into a band, where it hang constricted. His body was covered in full battle armor of the slayer style. Padded guards in various points, rest under the shadowblend jumpsuit. A deadly sickle blade rest in his sash, with a long silver chain. A choice weapon for demon slaying.

Scouting ahead, the wind rider located their primary target. Galantly pirched atop a cliff's end, stood the doglord, ruler of the Western Lands. Lord Sesshoumaru, son of the great Inu Taisho, stood majesticly. Fine silken garbs of white, flowed briskly in the gentle winds that carry his ghostly hair. Beneathe the silken coverings, a strong, custom armor, he wore to guard in battle. At his side, were the trusted swords; Tenseiga, a family heirloom, known as the sword of life. It could restore life to the fallen, if their souls had yet to cross worlds. Tokejin, a powerful demon blade, forged from the remnants of a beast that once crushed Tenseiga's twin blade, Tetsusaiga.

Topaz gems for eyes, he looked too the setting sun. Deep in quiet meditation as usual. A single arm came to rest upon his enheireted weapon. Gripping firmly, he drew the elegant blade from it's sheathe. When exposed, his golden pools glared into his reflection, cast off the familiar sword. 'Father, why did you entrust me with Tenseiga? As your first born, Tetsusaiga should have been my birthright...'

Sleeping lopped against a tree, was little rin. A young orphan girl who'd joined Lord Sesshoumaru's traveling party. She wore a checkered kimono of orange and white. She lay at rest peacefully, without a care in the world. Resting opposite, a small green imp demon, slumped against a draconian steed. Jaken, also in Sesshoumaru's caravan, had been assigned young Rin's caregiver.

Sesshoumaru gazed upward, when a familiar scent was tracked with his keen senses. Without a moment's notice, silver, windblade shrapnel spiraled in a vulcan. Using the blade, he slashed at the approaching attack. Pivoting his wrist in repetition, he deflected each projectile with ease.

"Sharp as ever I see..." the demon maiden spoke, gliding overhead. "As well as arrogant."

Sheathing his sword, he made no attempt to turn in recognition. Though she spiraled above, like vultures to a meal, he held his ground. "Lady Kagura..." he spoke low. "What buisness do you have with me?" his voice grew somewhat louder, both bold and commanding.

"Naraku wants you dead. And I'm here to see too it..."

"Naraku..." his eyes narrowed in disgust.

"Dance of Blades!" Kagura shouts. Now a verticle path from above, the attacks would be difficult to defend against.

With percision timing and accuracy, the long haired demon man moved. His efforts to evade were calculated. Each step, each turn, he moved with grace and elegance. He moved in a divine dance, or so spectators would claim. The blades struck the ground near him, none coming so close as to sever a hair.

An enfuriated Kagura sneared in anger. Gripping her paper fan firmly, she gathered the energy needed for the next assault. Energies of wind gathered, formulating into a single destination, infront of her fan. "Dance of the Dragon!" she called out once more. A funneling gust, escallaided into a fierce twister, surounding the demon warrior. "Now I've got you."

Radiant beams of saphire light, peirced the wind cage that imprisoned Sesshoumaru. The rays of light grew stronger, bursting outward as the spiral quickly dissapated. Standing proudly, the dog demon weilding his blade, Tokejin.

Eyes widening with fear, Kagura realised her grandest efforts failed. 'Will I die here, or will Naraku kill me for my failure?' she shuddered.

With a single stroke of the demon blade, a flash of blue energy skyrocketed for the airborne duo. Pulling back to evade the attack, they narrowly escaped intact. However, the shockwave had been enough to cancel the spell over the feather.

The ever agile Kohaku, pulled his weapon, throwing the weighted chain outward. A swift tug at it's full extension, caused the weighted end to rikochet in reverse. As the tip redirected upward, it found a local treebranch to bind. Swinging with incredible velocity from the makeshift vine, he sailed into a verticle swing, missing the ground. With an impressive display of acrobatics, he managed to land upon the branch, before freeing his weapon.

Kagura had been less fortunate. Plumetting to the ground, she struck hard. Her demon powers made her conciderably strong, enough so to allow survival from the impact. Yet injury would still take it's toll.

The helpless woman heaved for breath, while struggling to sit upright. The last of the sun's light, reflected off the low held blade, casting a refracted light on the ground nearby. Knowing the position of his weapon, Kagura was assured her death now rest in his hands. Lowering her head, she accepted her defeat with what little dignity she could muster. "Do it! Finish me..." she spoke angerly.
