********I don't own Inuyasha or any of the characters associated with the
show.Rumiko Takahashi is the genious behind the characters. Although I wish I did...
because there would be some kinky sex going on!
Anyways....on with the fic....depressing yes, but it will get better as the
chapeters progress!!!!!!*****************************
Night of Pain
Night had finally set on the serene forest. Nothing disturbed it's quietness, but that
was a rare thing these days. In the distance a few friends slept in peace under the stars not knowing
that two were missing from the group. One left to think on their own, contemplating certain
feelings, and the other followed silently in the trees trying to figure out why she
left.
His golden orbs watched her silent form walk through the forest at a steady pace. The wind
blew gently through the trees causing the girl to wrap her arms around her slender form.
How he wished he could warm her up in his arms, he hated to see her suffer even in the
slightest way. As she continued to walk he silently leaped from tree to tree, content on
keeping up with the beautiful girl.
Soon she neared a ledge that overlooked a majestic waterfall. He watched her dark midnight
hair dance gracefully on the wind and he couldn't help but sigh when a small smile
graced her perfect lips. Without her noticing he jumped down onto the grassy ledge being
careful not to disturb the thoughtful goddess before him. He quietly ducked behind a large
boulder so she would not see him, but it still left plenty of room for him to gaze
upon her. Just what was she up to at this time of night?
At first he was intrigued with the way she gazed at the sky and the way it seemed to
touch her soul in places he wished he could be. But that feeling only lasted a
moment, for the next sight before him brought him crashing down. Tears quietly made
their way down her face causing her to look fragile and sacred, something he
could never touch. That thought caused him to break slightly inside. He quickly
pushed the thought aside and concentrated on the girl in front of him. Why was she
crying? He only wanted to reach out and hold her and tell her everything would be ok,
but he didn't want her to think he was invading her privacy.
He watched as she reached into her bag and pulled out an object wrapped in a bright
red cloth. With tears still streaking down her face she unwrapped the object and
stared at it with no feeling. He stood up more to try to see the object and the quick
glint off of it told him exactly what it was. What was she doing with a knife? Panic
quickly filled his head and heart. She couldn't be thinking of killing herself? He
needed to move, to run to her, to tell her she was worth everything to him, but he
was frozen in fear of losing the one he loved.
He watched her raise it up to the sky and stare at with an icy glare. The sight made
him shiver, but he was relieved she hadn't hurt herself with the knife. She seemed
possessed by an unknown spirit, he had never seen her so....lifeless. He finally
began to take slow steps towards her not wanting the scene to continue. Before he
could reach her he saw her take the knife and place the blade in the palm of her hand,
and then she closed her fingers around it making a tight fist. The next thing she
did made him sick to his stomach. She slowly pulled the knife out of the tight
fist, blood making its way down her arm, and it dripped off of the edge of the knife
onto the dead ground.
What the hell did she just do? Anger and sadness began to boil in his veins. Was she
crazy? Did she even care she just hurt herself?
He was right behind her when she began to sob loudly. She dropped the knife and her
shoulders shook with such intense emotion he was afraid of startling her. A silent
tear made its way down his cheek. Here they were, surrounded by silence, only one
noticing the other, and the other broken. The pain she felt he felt. Never did he
want to see her like this. This was a moment that would burn itself into his memory
forever.
He finally reached out and gently touched her shoulder. Her sobbing only stopped for a
moment, but when she realized who it was she threw herself into his arms sobbing more
loudly than before. As she wept, he wept with her. He held her tight and made
promises to never let go. She looked up at him and gently touched his face.
"Inuyasha...please....please...never leave...me...I'm scared...so scared.."
She buried her head back in his chest and continued to weep. What was she scared of?
What was she hiding? Where was all this pain coming from? He didn't want to
question her now. She was already stressed out and could barely speak to him as it
was. After hours of sobbing and making silent promises she fell asleep in his arms.
He looked at the broken beauty in his arms. Later he would talk to her about the
knife and why she had cut herself. Later he would find out the secrets that lay
within her heart. He never wanted to see her like this again and if she ever did
become this way again he would be there to hold her and to protect her.
Taking bounding leaps they were finally back at the camp. She slept peacefully
in his arms and never stirred once during their trip back. He set her on her
blanket and covered her with his own blanket she had brought for him.
Afraid to leave her, he layed down next to her cradling her in his embrace.
He stared at her soft features wanting to reach out and touch her, to comfort
her, to make her feel wanted. At the moment though, he felt helpless and it
was something he wasn't used to. Before closing his eyes he whispered his
goodnight.
"Goodnight Kagome. I hope I can make you whole again."
*********And thats it for chapter one...I want to continue, but it's up
to the readers. Let me know what you think, and if it's mainly positive
i'll continue, but if it's the other way around, i'll take a shot at something
else!!! thanks a lot for giving it a chance!!!!!***********************
