Two Swords, One Heart
A/N: For those that have read this story and are wondering what I've done with it; Due to all the emails and reviews asking that I finish all my older fics I have finally decided to do so. I had to pick one to start with and this is it. For those that asked about others, I'll get to them in time. All those under Kimisan as well. I looked the story over and was appalled at my earlier working, so in order to finish I am revising and adding to each chapter. So in order to do so I have brought them all down and will be re-adding as they are redone. Some might want to re-read due to a great deal of the material being changed. Any new reviews are welcome if you like the new approach or what has been changed. I hope the story ends up better than the original.
*The story will remain a Kagome/Hiei/Kenshin pairing.*

Prologue
The tension was thick within the grand palace as Fujimura sat upon his throne listening intently as his head advisor spoke softly to him. He was most excited about this year's tournament. His assistant, Dia had done a remarkable job in finding suitable players. Last year had been sorely lacking in competition, this one would be different. The prior competitors had all been weak, so weak a newborn could have destroyed them with a loud wail. His staff had tasted his displeasure after the last disappointment. The Lord sat back nodding at the small man, everything looked in place. He was actually looking forward to it. He would not be left unsatisfied again.
Dia ran off heading towards the lab once more, it was his job to make sure everything happened to his Lord's approval. For the last year he had searched for the right fighters. Ones that would fill his Lord's needs. He was a man with a great hunger, for the souls of fallen warriors. The stronger the warrior the better. It was hard to find those that fit the bill. It had taken eleven painful months but the list was complete.
Within an hour; twelve warriors, swordsman would be transported here. All would be brought, to fight and to die. They would serve their purpose, as they it were deemed. What other purpose did one have in life but to die. Might as well make their death profitable. What better way to die than by the hands of another warrior. To die in battle was a great honor. A few guards saluted as he strolled down the hall. It was time to see to the preparations of the transfers. It would have to be flawless or there would be hell to pay. They were lucky they’d been given another chance after the last failure.
The door opened allowing him to walk inside the lab. Yes, his team was fast at work getting the necessary coordinates in. They had to be prepared to strike at precisely the right moment. None of their prey would know what was occurring until it was too late. Once the transporter activated they’d be brought to their doom. Not such a bad fate or a way to die. They would eventually die one day anyways. The monitors beeped as keys were pressed and the locations entered. The only thing left was to make sure the containment facility were up to par. Each cage was especially designed for the one assigned to it. It took evaluating their targets for several weeks but it was a necessary means.
Dia decided to do that after looking back over their list. Just to reassure himself that this year’s competition would be pleasing. The longer and more brutal the battles, the more his lord would pleased with the outcome. Only the weak died easily, that wouldn’t bode well. If any of the targets turned out to be a failure he’d surely lose his position. It had taken years of groveling and doing the unpleasant work to make it this far. He’d long ago lost his conscious, or his revulsion for gore. It was to be endured if one was to serve Lord Fujimura. The man lived on carnage and chaos. The only time he smiled was when some poor soul drew their last breath.
It took a cruel and heartless man to do as he’d done. Centuries before hand his father had ruled this world. The man had been just as hard but his ways had been softer. Death would have come swift for those deserving of such a fate. While the father had ruled with respect, the son ruled with fear. It took someone with no soul of their own to enjoy devouring others. He grumbled to himself, he shouldn’t let his thoughts get to him. There was nothing that could be done now. The father had made the mistake of underestimating the son, now they were all doomed to live as the man chose.
Next chapter shall be up in a day or so, please read and review.
