Shadow's of Darkness
Shadow's of Darkness
She felt dizzy, the world was swiming, and she felt like she was floating.
How many time's did her heart have to break, how many time's, did he have to cause it? How many time's.... This was the last time... She ever feel anything.
Her mind was blank, she couldn't move, she couldn't talk, breath, nothing. She was just their.
Laying on her side, some of her hair in her face and blood pooled around her.
Then, her vision began to get fizzy on the edge's, until it consumed her, and she saw nothing.
She herd something, and tried to listen in. It was a chant of some kind. She couldn't make it out, but she became acustomed to the tone and beat of the chant.
When it became clear, it stopped, just before she understood the words.
"Do you wish to live?"
Something whispered, it sounded more like a thousnds people talking at once, trying to say it at once, but messing up.
"No."
She felt her lip's move, but she herd no voice.
"Do you wish another chance?"
"No."
She whispered again.
"Do you wish life?"
"Yes."
She whispered, then she felft her body moving fast.
*At last....*
She whispered to herself, then before dying, she whispered.
"Death."
Her body was then suddenly encased in something extreemly hot, and bright white.
When she passed through it, it was the same as on the other side, but this time, red was involved.
She found herself moving, reaction to her surrounding's. She was hovering above a city. It was blood red and coprse's lay everywhere, along with beast's and creature's with wing's and some with half beast like animal form's. She felt nothing and only stared in wonder, and curiosity.
The city was nothing but hut's, made of either flesh and skin, or bone's. Some were even stacked skull's.
Then, a large black castle met her view.
It looked to be made out of a mountian of sharp, black marble.
Little white dot's signaled that occupants were incased in it's black beauty.
Her feet touched ground at the gate's.
The gate opened and she walked through, her head held high as if she owned the place.
She thrust the door's open and with a snarl she looked up and down the hall way's.
She turned sharply down the left hall way. The hall's were decorated with nothing but black flame, hanging lamp's.
She ran up some stair's, and stormed down more hall way's, all the while having no idea where she was going, as her body moved without her permission.
She came up to a door that had a large Blue circle in middle of the large, double door.
She smirked and thrust her hand's out and pushed the door's open.
When she entered she stopped and smirked, looking around.
She had happened apun a throne room.
The throne was sitting atop a giant stair case of skull's, black flame danced on either side of the chair, which was made of the black marble, black velet cousion's and black, animal and beast horn's made the arm's and the design on the back.
Her smirk widened as she walked over to it, and walked up the stair's. She stopped and looked at the chair, and placed her hand on the left arm.
Her hand had a triangle black peice of cloth coveing her hand, going between her middle finger and her ring finger, attaching at her wrist, where a glove was, going clear up to her elbow. Hanging from the wrist of the glove, came down, a long peice of cloth that hit the ground and scopped back up to attach tot he back of the dress where a train was. She followed it up to her bare shoulder, then a black dress, that curved along her body like it was a second skin, until it reached her leg's, where a slit at the hip followed down to a pair of black, tip tioed's boot's, that went all the way up to her knee's.
She turned away from the throne chair and slowly sat down, crossing her leg's and nodding in approval.
Suddenly the black flame's around her grew, and spread out across the room, setting the wall's on fire, her lip's twitched as she smirked. Not being able to contain it, she tipped her head back and laughed.
~Three years later~
Kagome stood in a black room, nothing on but a thong and a black lace bra.
Water droplette's fell to the ground to echo in the depth's of the darkness and on her, making her look as if she were sweating.
In both her hand's were thin, samuria sword's.
She turned around and lifted her arm's, and crossed the blad's, flexing the muscle's. Her hair was in a long black braid, flopped over her shoulder, revealing a large black dragon, coiled on her back, holding a black flame in one hand and a sword in it's other.
The dragon had it's back to her, it's wing's spreading up and covering her shoulder's, the tail wrapped around her left leg, down to the ankle.
The dragon's eyes were open and burning red, smoke and fire coming from it's nose. The draogn's held the black flame by its stomach, and the sword down by it's side.
Faster than the normal demon eye, Kagome was moving, striking every last water droplette of water and landing in the spot she started in, her sword's down at her side and her head low and slightly turned to the left, her bangs covering her eyes.
The water droplette's exploded two second's later, getting Kagome wet again.
Shaking off slightly, spraying more water everywhere.
She turned and walked over to a wall and set her hand on it. A black circle of fire surrounded the black marble and she walked through it.
This part of the castle was lighter. Real flame's lit the inside of the hall way's, revealing Kagome's full appeal.
She had elf ear's, glowing dark purple eyes. In the middle of her forehead a blue full moon. Her hair was blacker that night and longer than her knee's.
She almost always kept it in a braid, making the top, really smooth to her head and her bangs to drop on each side of her head, in a smooth straight line.
Her eyes lids were painted in a dark blue, her lips were unadorned, except for the slight shine of lip gloss.
She walked down the hall, as she walked a servant held out her cloth's, she grabbed them and started putting on her glove's and boot's. Then she stepped into her dress and tied it up the side's. She then attached the chain, slipping it onto the back of the dress and the cloth hanging form the glove.
She passed another servant, holding out some armor, she grabbed them and threw the black, spiked shoulder guard's, and clipped them on, then clipped on some fore arm armor, and a hip guard. She passed another servant who held out her weapon's.
She attached both swords to her left hip, and the round, ring blade to her back.
She passed another servant who held her black savage wolf dog, who was trying to get away. Kagome stopped behind it, four servant's playing tug of war.
The wolf dog's head came up to her shoulder.
"Kuro."
He spun around, and stood up right, head held high as if he'd been waiting patiently for her. His glowing red eyes looked right forward.
"Good boy."
She smiled, petting his head, taking the chain that was as thick as a human skull. She held it easily in her hand as she walked down the hall way to the bord room, where a meeting was being held.
When she opened the door, she was met with the face's Four lord's of the Underworld.
"Hm, gentlemen."
She smiled, arching a brow. She then walked down the long table to her seat at the had of it.
She set down and, Kuro sat down next to her.
"Mistress, I wish to open the floor with this statement of order...."
~
Kagome entered her room and removed the chain off her beast. She looked over to her fire place and sighed.
"What aile's my lady?"
She herd the voice of a thousand men and turned to see Areon. He was a translucent blue, alien looking man, wearing a black cloak with a hood that he constantly wore.
"I am bored with this place, something stirs my soul."
"Which is what?"
Areon asked, sitting down.
"My child...."
"Ah."
Areon said nodding.
"You have taken power, my lady. You rule the entire Underworld, you may return to the living world to see her."
Kagome nodded.
"I think I will."
Kagome got to up when Areon stood in her way sudenly.
"But remember, a day here is a year their. To much time away from here, Kagome, and you'll die. Your power will deminish, completely."
Kagome frowned.
"I know this Aroen."
He nodded.
"Very well. The same for Kuro, only he will become as weak as a normal wolf dog."
Kuro lifted his head from before the fire palce and growled, his red eyes sarking with hatred. Areon frowned.
"I don't even know why you wanted and wolf dog, when you could have had a dragon."
Kagome looked back at Kuro, he looked at her and wagged his tail three time's. Kagome smirked and looked back at Areon.
"I'm a dog person."
Areon sighed.
"If you so wish it. I will announce your depature and set up guard around the post's."
Kagome nodded.
"Fine, see ya old man."
She smirked and walked away. Areon growled.
"Damn child. I'm not old."
He whispered, almost pouting as he vanished.
Kagome went to her spell book and flipped a couple pages. She changed her feature's, to a more older look. She no longer looked like the Kagome, everyone would remeber.
Yes, she intended to check out everyone, see how they've been, how Kikyo was working out for them.
When Kagome died, her soul went back to Kikyo, completeing her soul and making her human.
Inuyasha and her settled down some what, or so she herd from the rumor's in the city.
Kuro watched her as she flipped through the page's.
"Something is wrong."
She frowned.
"Stay out of it wolf dog."
Kuro stood and growled.
"Don't give me that shit!"
Kagome snapped cold purple eyes on him, he whimpered and steppd back, then growled and stepepd forward again.
"I can take your life here and now, Kuro."
He frowned and sat down.
"It matters not to me, I simply wished to know what was wrong and you sanped on me. You'd be klling me out of pure rage on your self."
Kagome frowned and looked back at the spell book.
"You know nothing."
"Of course, you never let anyone get close enough to you and live to tell about it. How do you think your going to find your king, if you can't even trust me? I'm with you day and night, Kagome. I'm more like your best friend than anything."
Kagome frowned when she found her spell, she stopped and rested her hand's on the side's of the stand, which held her book and dropped her head.
"I worry... Day after day about them... I constantly want to know how my friend's are doing and be able to see them. See their warm smile's, and their stupid playfulness... now it would burn my stomach to see it, but I somtime's catch myself thinking back ont he time's when it warmed my heart, my heart which is now colder than Sesshomaru ever can be."
Kuro got up and pushed his muzzle under her arm till she began to pet him.
"All will be well, Kitten, you'll see."
Kagome smiled at his choice of Nick Name for her, seeing as she was, after all, a type of cat demon.
She was a mix of wolf and cat. Sort of.
When she first met Kuro, she was as cold as could could get.
They constantly fought, but Kuro was vitle in her becoming the Queen of the Underworld. It was required that the Queen have some kind of Guardian, int he beast aspect. Her choice's were, a Dragon, an evil Pegasis, a black horse with bat wing's, A courrpted soul, or a wolf dog. She choce a wolf dog, because of Koga and Inuyasha. She loved them both dearly, Inuyasha more than Koga, and her love for Koga was more like a big brother love, slash, puppy crush.
Her love for Inuyasha ran deep, and deep did it run. She loved that man more than anything, if he;d only ask her to die for him, she most likly would, and she has.
She changed everything about her for him, so he'd be happy, with Kikyo. She let herself die and get raped. She allowed her body to add to the insult and pain used against her by Naraku, for him. She bore Naraku's child and kept her secret to save both Inuyash and the other's, she did it all for them. And look what she'd become, something she wished she'd never be, something she wished and hoped was only fariy tale. All for them, yet she finds herself growing accustomed to it and somethimes even enjoy it.
She enjoyed the new life she had, she was all powerful, she was no longer the weak link. Here she had power, power enough to move the stars.
To rearrange the galaxy is she only lifted a finger.
Here she was feared, here she was known as someone not to be messed with, here she had her own world, and she controlled it. But with that luxury, came the concequence.
She was cold, blood thirsty and unbelivably rude and cruel. To innocent people, well... Not really innocent, for everyone in the Underworld was a trapped and damned soul.
She found that Kuro had fallen asleep at her feet, curled up and snoring soundly, and she had lost herself deeply in thought, staring at her spell book.
She sighed and chanted the spell she wanted.
~
Kuro and Kagome stood at the gate to the Underworld and the Gate to the living world.
"Let's do it."
She said, Kuro nodded and walked through with her.
When they passed through, they walked into a forest
on the other side, in fedual Japan.
Kagome lifted her nose and sniffed.
"He is unusually close to the Western Lands."
"Is that a problem?'
Kuro asked, sitting down, knowing that his master would take a minute to figure out which way to go.
She analized everything, a very essental skill when in a new place, so you don't get lost.
Kagome took a moment to take a deep breath. In the bright sun light, you could tell that she had changed allot since she'd been gone.
Only a year's time had passed here, and she could tell by Inuyasha's scent. Plus all the training, in both body and mind, she had learned a great deal about each subject taught in school, but much faster and more informitave and useful.
She closed her eye's, her pale white face turning a light peace, and she growled. The sun was hurtig ehr skin. Having lived in a world of darkness for over three year's, will do that to someone. Seeking shade right away, she pulled the shade of the tree into a deep dark shadow.
Kuro, having once lived in the sun light, only a year ago, basked in it, stretching out and loving its warmth.
Kagome felt suddenly very jealous of him. She remebered being young and laying out on the beach.
When the sun was warm and the water was cool.
She trained ot mind on more important thing's, like how far Inuyasha was, where he was heading and how she was going to convice him into letting her join their group. Then it hit her, her evil soul chuckled madly.
She could tell them that she was really close to Kagome, and Kagome's dying wish was to ahve her join their group.
"Kuro."
Kuro sat up at attention.
"Yes?"
"From now on, my name is Kat."
He smiled.
"Alright, but I still get to call you Kitten right?"
She snarled, her dakr purple eyes glowing out against the shadow around her, mkaing him shiver.
"No."
He smiled.
"Alright, Kitten."
He flopped back over and sighed.
She growled.
"Bad dog."
He growled, and sat up.
"Thatw as low."
"I told you not to call me 'Kitten'."
"I have a right."
He said calmly and flopped back over, spraying up a few flower pettals. She watched a moment then scowled.
"What right?"
"My right as your guardian, my right as your best friend."
Kagome smiled, it felt nice to have best friend again. She remembered Sango being that stubborn.
The smile left her face immeditaly, she wasn't the soft little girl they all remembered, this time, she was the ruthless grown woman, known as the Queen bitch of the Underworld.
"Kuro, lets go."
Kuro stood up and ran over to her as she jumped from the shadow and ran at full speed through the forest, Kuro easily keeping her pace.
The moment they met, they trained, hard and took out their anger out on each other. They were constantly at compatition with each other. They were always racing, and seeing how far they could go, when in battle before getting cut, or faint from blood loss.
Now that they were better aquanted, but still didn't agree on thing's, keepign each other's pace was nothing, and fighting in battle was nothing to them.
"Where are we going?"
Kuro asked, hardly panting. kagome glanced at him, jumping over a fallen tree.
"To the border of the Eastern land and the Wester land."
"Why their? I thought you said that this Inuyasha was near the Western Land's, but near the border."
"Correct, I intend to intercept them, a hundred yard's ahead of them."
"What are you planning?"
Kagome glared at him, Kuro smirked.
"Why do you all of a sudden feel the ned to ask question, you were never this annoynig before."
"Annoying?"
Kuro asked, playing hurt. Kagome wanted to roll her eyes.
"I just felt that seeing as you opened up to me, a littl elast night, that we became closer. I thoguht that yo trusted me enough to talk to me."
Kagome frowned and blushed a little.
"So what if I do?"
Kuro smirked.
"Nothing. Just that it'll make getting along easier, seeing as we have to spend the rest of eternity together."
Kagome nodded.
"I know all of this, Kuro."
Kuro nodded.
"So why not make it as easier as possible, now what are you intending to do?"
Kagome gritted her fang's.
"I figured.... That if we intercept him a hundred yeards before him. That I can corner a strong demon, stronger than Inuyasha ever beleived and make the demon come out and fight them. When it nearly kills him, I jump in, defeat the demon and tell him of 'Kagome's' dying wish."
Kuro nodded.
"Once again, nice job. Your mind works in mysterious ways, Kagome."
"Kat wofl dog, I told you to call me that."
"I will, miko demoness, once we greet them, will I act the roll. I will not spoil your plan."
Kagome glanced at him.
"I realize this, plus they won't understand you unless you want them to. But still, they will catch on. If Koga happens to hear you, or Inuyasha. Koga is a wolf demon and Inuyasha a half dog demon."
Kuro blinked, then decided against asking.
He atleast now knew why he was chosen and why she was a dog person. He never understood her until now about the little joke's she cracked.
Kagome skidded to a stop in a clearing, where a thin blue line penetrated the clearing.
"What's that?"
Kuro asked, sitting down. Kagome glanced at him.
"The barrier of the Western land and the Easter lands."
"Are we to cross it?"
"Hm."
Kagome nodded.
"I will, you are to stay here and fight Inuyasha when he come's. Keep the battle going until I return."
"Oh, but Kagome, what if he hurt's me?"
Kagome glared at him, while he smiled.
"Do you honestly think a group of human's, a brat fox and a half demon could defeat you easily? You at match with me, mess with their heads a bit, ya know, confuse em. Piss em off. Your good at that."
She said dryly as she crossed the barrier, knowing that Sesshomaru would know immeditaly that someone crossed into his border.
She her nose and smiled, he was already on his way.
She closed her eyes and brought her aura down lowe enough to just feel it at the edge of his sences, just enough to make him wonder who was in his land's.
With her trap set, she took a running dash to the left, at an angle, running deep into his land's, as he ran straght at her.
She stopped in a clearing, a nice sized clearing.
It looked as if a large battle had gone on, or two large beast's fought in it.
She stood in the middle and lifted her nose again.
She smiled
*He'll be here at dusk.*
She thought herslef as she closed her eyes to meditate until he arrived.
~
Sesshomaru was sitting down at camp, watching with borderline fasination as Rin and Jaken went through the nightly ritual.
The two constnatly fought. It bugged him, but gave him some kind of amusment.
Now was such the event. Rin had current taken Jaken's staff and was running in large circle's, giggling as Jaken wobbled after her, screaming that she give it back.
Thats when a huge power surge reached out and made his skin tighten. His eyes snapped to the right.
All of a sudden the power surge was reduced to a simple ripple int he air. Teasing the edge of his sences.
He stood up and frowned.
"Jaken."
He spoke, Jaken and Rin stopped immeditaly, jaken retrived his staff and wobbled over.
"Hai, master?"
"Stay with the girl."He said simply and walked into the forest. Once out of sight and ear shot, he burst into a full out run.
He hadn't felt anything like that since Azuka entered his lands, more than ten years ago.
~
Kagome's eyes opened when the sun was hidden behind the moutnitan's, across from her, he stood.
She smirked.
"Who are you wench?"
Sesshomaru asked, glaring at her.
"Wouldn't you like to know."
She said, closing her eyes again. She suddenly found herself pressed tight against a tree trunk and a thick hand around her throat, she calmly opened her eyes and smirked.
"Who are you?"
"I am Death."
She whispered, reaching up and easily taking his hand away, no matter how hard he struggled, she still easily moved his hand.
Once her throat was clear, she ducked and kicked his fet out formunder him, leapt intot he air and made it to the other side of the clearing, turning before she landed to face.
Sesshomaru got up and snarled, his eyes bleeding red. Kagome smiled and let her aura arch around her in full blast, everything in the clearing, bent away from her as her power steadily increased to half its normal height.
Sesshomaru's eyes widened. It was more powerful than anything he'd ever felt.
"Who are you, what do you want?"
He asked, his eyes still red, prepairing to transform.
"I am death, I balance out life and death. I want nothing but you."
She said lifted her hand, as it glowed red. She opened her hand up to him and he was drawn to her, her hand wrapped around his neck, when she removed it, a red collar was around his neck.
~Go to Chapter 2~
