Love for a stranger

Summary: This is a Rin/Sess, Inu/Kag story line. Sesshomaru is being forced to marry Kikyo, at the cost of kagura’s life’s h’s his sis). Inu meets Kagome at the strangest place to meet anyone, and even though he promised himself to never look at anyone again... Can he fulfill his promise? And can sess really live without someone he really cares for...?


Chapter one...THE ACCIDENT.

“..Yeah, the wedding is to be done ten months from now, aha, yeah, okay, so you begin with all the arrangements? Okay... see you there, okay bye.”

Sesshomaru was working in his office, in the Takahashi Taiyoukai computer industry on a new research project when the door to his office opened. A woman came in, with a satisfied expression on her face. She approached sesshomaru and sat on his desk.

-“What is it that you want here in my office, Kikyo?”

-“Oh, i was just having this talk with the wedding organizer, She said she’ll have everything ready as soon as possible for that day to be our perfect day”-

-“ I dread that day”- thought seshomaru.

Kikyo Namimoto was... well you could define her as the kind of woman who depended on others to arrange her life, and not because she was unable to, but just because of the fact that she enjoyed mortifying others who she thought were infr tor to her, or those who made mistakes. That was what first atracted her to sesshomaru Takahashi, the fact that he was an equal to her, and that he was never wrong, so, as a spoiled girl she was, she made her father had an arrangement before he died to get her to marry this man.

Toga inutaishio Takahashi owned this man a great deal for having saved isayoi, inu’s mom’s life when she gave birth to inu, and as a payment he engaged sess and kikyou. Sess, being a man of honor was willing to fulfill his father’s will now that he was dead, not because he wanted, but for his reputation, and because no other woman piqued his interest up to now, or well, that’s what he thought.


Suddenly the door to the office burst open, letting in a very worried Inuyasha.
-“why is it that you enter here in such a way?
-“They’ve just called from the hospital, Rin had a car accident, a drunk driver lost control of his car and crashed against Rin's own, I need someone to cover for me while I am gone”

-Will she be alright?” asked sesshomaru in his usual monotonous voice, but this time with what Inuyasha could say, a bit of concern in it.

-“not a word up to now. I’m in my way to the hospital to check on her .”
No other voices were heard in the room while inu yasha and sesshomaru spoke, until kikyou interrupted-“how is it that you worry so much about her? She’s just a poor, ugly and unworthy employee here, where does she work, at the kitchens?”

Inuyasha was about to insult her, but this time it was sesshomaru who spoke first-“ I believe, kikyo, that in this company you are no oo spo speak about ot in in such a manner, you look like one of those nosy secretaries and not like the ´high class lady’ you are, so please I demand your respect for other authorities in this company” and, he thought ‘she’s sexy as hell’
With this, he closed his laptop and headed toward the door, Inuyasha following.

-“where are goingoing ?” asked kikyo

-“actually it is none of your concern, but as yow want to know, I’m heading to the hospital to see how’s Rin”- and with that he left Kikyo sitting alone in the office.

The hospital was all tension, the doctors came out of the emergency room.
-“how is she, doctor?”- came the voice of a very worried Kagome, who was now standing up in front of the doctor, practically begging for an answer to her question.
She is unconscious, we can not tell you how she is right now until she wakes up, but you can still see her, she’s staying in room 402, i will have a nurse taking you there.”
-“Thank you doctor”-

-“ by the way, miss....”-

-“..Higurashi”- Kagome completed

-“ miss Higurashi, has any other person, close enough to her, been informed of the accident and what happened?”-

-“oh, yes, i already called her office and one of her closest friends is coming right away.”-

-“that is good news. Well, i will have the nurse show you the room right away.”-

Kagome nodded as the doctor left.
Within a few minutes, a nurse came and led Kagome all the way up to Rin’s room.

-“here we are, miss. She will probably still be asleep, but please, do inform us right away if she wakes up”-

-“oh, don’t worry, if she does. I will call you”-

With a smile, the nurse left.

Kagome entered the room, it was a quite large room, painted nearly all in white, with beige curtains. The bed was against the wall in the right. The wall opposite to the bed was dark beige and had an old fruits painting in it. Obviously this was a very luxurious hospital, after all, Rin was the vice-president of the Takahashi Taiyoukai computers industry.
When Kagome entered the room, the first thing she saw was Rin lying on the bed, unconscious. Her head had a few bandages wrapped around it, she also has a few, very small cuts and bruises in her face and neck, and as far as Kagome could see, her wrist was injured as well.

Kagome approached Rin very slowly, due to the fact that she was nervous. Rin’s body was connected to various wires to measure her vital signs, which apparently were just fine.

-“Rin...”- Kagome now felt her eyes fill with tears –“why..? Why did this have to happen to you..? to my best friend..?”-

Kagome sat next to Rin for a while, just looking at the dreadful state her friend was at. Occasionally, she would whisper a few words to Rin, to try and make her feel better, even though she knew Rin might not be hearing them. It kept on going like that until she heard some the doorknob twist open. She turned her gaze toward the door and she saw standing there Sesshomaru and some other guy, who Kagome thought looked really cute, standing with him.

-“How is she?”- Came the voice of sesshomaru after what seemed an eternity of silence.

-“they... They don’t know yet...”- Kagome’s voice trailed off.

Inuyasha and sesshomaru entered the room silently. Inuyasha sat down on the couch near the window as his brother approached Rin. Kagome had a very depressed look in her face. She looked like she were going to faint anytime if she didn’t get better any soon. Seeing this, it was Inuyasha who spoke first:

He turned to Kagome –“ Hi...”- they were standing now in front of the window, leaving sesshomaru kind of alone with Rin, so he could see how she was.

-“Hi...”- came Kagome’s voice, barely higher than a whisper.

-“ you are Rin’s friend, the one she talks about all the time?”- Inuyasha said this trying to cheer the girl up a bit, and he made a little progress.

Kagome smiled –“well, I am her friend, but I don’t know if she talks about me all the time”-

Inuyasha smiled at the little progress he was making and proceeded to ask some other questions to Kagome.

-“and miss Rin’s friend, I would be honored if you told me what your name is?”-

-“ Oh, sorry, my name is Kagome, Kagome Higurashi. What’s yours?”- asked a now slightly interested Kagome.
-“Well, I’m Inuyasha, Inuyasha Takahashi. Pleasure to meet you, miss Kagome”- as he bowed.
Kagome couldn’t believe her ears, ‘the Inuyasha Takahashi? One of the owners of the company she worked for, but the one she’d never seen before?’

-“ you know, I would really appreciate it if you just dropped the bow, and especially if you dropped the ‘miss’ Mr. Takahashi”-

at this Inuyasha chuckled a little –“ I agree on one condition”-

-“and what would that be?”-

-“drop the Mr., it makes me feel old”- said Inuyasha, faking a disgusted face.

-“sorry, can’t help it, it’s just that of all people, I never thought I’d ever meet you”

-“and why, might I ask, would that be?”

-“well, just bewcouse I work on your company at the graphic design area, and people who are closer to you comment on how hard it is to catch word with you”

They both laughed a little. Their conversation kept going like this for about 30 minutes, and Inuyasha finally achieved his goal of making Kagome cheer up. Both their attentions were drawn to the bed as they felt Rin stir some, and after wake up.

When Rin wore up, the first thing se saw was, to her delight, Sesshomaru’s face. She heard some voices as . Th. They all seemed familiar to her.

-“wha... what happened?”- was all she managed to say in a voice that didn’t seem at all like her own.

-“Oh Rin, you’re alright, thank god. I’ll call the nurse at once, the faster all this is over, the faster we can get you out of here”-
Kagome turned and headed toward the door, when a pair of strong hands stopped her. It was Inuyasha who held her, but sesshomaru was the first one to speak:

-“don’t worry Kagome, I will do it”- he said, and hurried out of the room.

Kagome turned back toward Rin’s bed, and kneeled beside Inuyasha who was already there, telling Rin what had happened. After a few minutes of talking, sesshomaru returned accompanied by the nurse, who immediately asked them to leave the room for some minutes while she made some tests to Rin. Inuyasha stood up and dusted off his pants, before offering Kagome his hand to help her up. Kagome accepted his help, but blushed a tiny bit when she felt Inuyasha’s strong hands against her own. Fortunately Rin was the only one to notice this. Kagome at once knew that after Rin left the hospital, she would tease her about it, but right now, she did not need to worry. Rin was going to be okay, she was glad about it, and all she needed to worry about right now, was to enjoy the enchanting company of Inuyasha, and the feel of his hands holding hers.


A few days had already gone by after Rin’s accident. She had recovered almost completely and was about to be taken home, she was now just waiting for her friends to arrive and pick her up. In this few days Rin had been at the hospital, Kagome and Inuyasha had been able to get closer to each other, since they got to visit Rin every day. Sesshomaru didn’t visit her so often because of his duties couldn’t be left aside, but he still got to see her as much as it was possible for him.

-“ Are you ready to go home, Rin?”-

-“Yeah, I never thought I’d miss my house so much”-said Rin laughing a bit.

-“Ok, come on, ill take you home, but let’s first go pick up something to eat at McDonalds, I’m getting kind of hungry now”-

Rin laughed again. She was really happy to finally get back home, to share some girl time with her friend.

.”Sounds good, I was really beginning to get bored of that flavorless hospital food”-

After they got the foodm Mcm McDonalds, Kagome drove to Rin’s house. In the way, they were talking about really odd and silly stuff, laughing a bit and having a good time. When they got to the apartment, Rin left her bags somewhat near the bed and sat down on it, pointing Kagome to sit next to her, and began eating.

-“So, Rin, how is it that you are doing with his highness sesshomaru?”- Asked Kagome with a smirk on her face.

-“What!?? Hell no, he’s an engaged man”-

-“Engaged or not, you like him, and by the way he looks at you, I think he likes you as well”-

-“How can you say that!!...Kagome, you know I cannot like him, he is my boss, and anyway, he is a demon and I’m just human, why would he even notice me?”- Rin blushed a bit, Kagome noticing this added –“ well, he is getting married to a human woman”-
-“not that he actually wants to do it, anyway”-

-“jealous?”-

-“well, a bit”- Rin commented before realising what she had just said-“I mean no”-

-“admit it, yuo like him”-

, well, I think he’s really cute, so what?”-

-“ so you do like him!!”-

- “Do Not!”-

-“Yes, you do!!”-

-“Ok, alright I like him, he’s cute, sensible, smart and really, really handsome”-

-“ I knew it”-

-“and what about you, Kagome, you are getting old and with no love life yet?”-

-“well..”- Kagome blushed a bit –“however, did you know the great news, I got this new project for a new software the company is planning to launch next year, I get to do it with guess who?”-

-“tell!”-

-“well, I get to do it with Inuyasha Takashi”-

-“what!!” that’s great kags!!”-

The day went like this all along, the two girls chattering, giggling, laughing and having a normal girl time, until late in the afternoon Kagome’s phone rang.

-“Hello?”- It was Inuyasha

Kagome stood up and went by the window to be able to speak to him more privately.

-“hey Kagome”-

-“oh, hi inu, how are you?”-

oh, just fine. Hey I was wondering if you could come over, I’d like you to meet some of the people who will be working with us in the project shikkon, you know, just so you get to know them better”-

-that would be nice-

-allright, I’ll pick you up in an hour, we will be meeting them at sango’s house-

-ok, see you then.-

back to Rin*

-so, kags, what did Inu say?-

Kagome blushed a bit, -“it’s nothing, he just wants to pick me up to meet with some collegues for the shikkon project,, it’s about that, so I better get going to see if I can lit up my face a bit”-

-“well, see you later, kags and I hope to get details by tomorrow”-

-“Rin, go to sleep”-. With that she left her there
