Devotion: chapter 9: what’s love got to do with it?

Kanna slipped her way amonst the tree’s unerringly making her way to where the Inuyasha and gang had camped. Stopping at the edge of the tree lineas she noticed the Inu demon begin to stir and wake. Frowing as she watched Inuyasha Jump to his feet sniffing the air and growling softly his eyes sweeping about as if he was searching from some threat. lip lips purseing into a pout as she retreated farther into the trees and down wind of the sensitive nosed Hanyou. Selintly she wondered if he had smelled her and if so how.

Inuyasha woke with a start his nose twitched and his ears pivoting this way and that as he scrambled to his feet. His golden eyes scanning about them searching for the owner of this unfamiliar scent, growling softly in his throat as the scent faded in and out perhaps it was carried on the slight breeze. Moving about the camp sniffing .
“ It seems familiar as if I should know it some how” his voice a soft growl
“ What seems famliar Inuyasha? Is it danger?”
Sango slipped from her bed roll, her eyes also scanning the distance seeking out what ever had disturbed her friend. Her hand slipping to the ground as she scooped up Hiraikotsu and ready her self for action. Her eyes flicking to the wary hanyou and then seeing him relax she also let down her guard.
“ It is nothing Sango a scent I swear I should know it , it was strong and it faded a lot but it was there I know it.Anyway ways by as faint as the scent was what ever it was must have been some ditance away”
“ If you say so Inuyasha should we wake the others and let them know or let them sleep a bit longer?”
“Keh, we might as well let them sleep everyone was still tired of that baka monk got us kicked out of the village with his antics….. Sorry Sango I shouldn’t have mentioned that”
Inuyasha Glanced over in Sango’s direction to see her reaction surprisingly he saw just a rueful smile gracing the Demon Exterminators lips. Sango almost laughed as she saw the look on Inuyasha face as he thought he had once again put his foot in his mouth.
“ Don’t worry Inuyasha, you done nothing to be sorry for. Since the others are still asleep and we will be marching hard why don’t I gather a bit of firewood so we can at least have a hot meal to keep up our strength”
Inuyasha nodded and then proceeded to start a fire with the few scraps of wood left over from the morning, Sango set Hiraikotsu down and then headed off to the woods ,smiling softly amazed that she really hadn’t felt any hurt at the words of Inuyasha . Had she truly set aside her feeling for the monk or had she just come to terms with the fact that he would never change his ways not for her not for any woman Miroku would always be a lech. Pleased with her new found emotional balance she set about quietly gathering woods that had fallen from the trees near the camp.

Kanna moved quietly back into the trees and then settling down with her mirror watched Inuyasha and ango as the warily moved about the camp then sighing happily as she saw them relax. Smiling she watched as her plan was saved by none other then her planned victim,her dark cool eyes bright with joy as she watched the demon hunter move out of the camp to collect wood for the fire. Making her way toward where sango gathered the wood amazed at how easily she and moved up on the distracted girl.
“ Master must know love, you are not fit for him Demon Hunter only I am fit for him”
Sango jerked up with a start as she heard a soft childs voice speak those words , her eyes going wide as she looked up and saw the white clad figure before her curseing as she was caught unawares .
“KANNA!”
She manage to cry out a single word before she felt a odd tug and then she scream but now no one could hear as she was wrapped up in a ocean of silver .
Watching the woman fall she couldn’t help but smile happily her face beaming with new found pride, how easily Sango,the mighty demon exterminator, had fallen to her the child youkai. Moving to the fallen body she reached down and caressed the cheek of the slack face Sango.
“ Do worry we shall both be joining master soon ,we shall serve him Forever till death takes him from us”
Taking up her mirror and staring ito the depths she sent her own soul into the ocean of silver for just a moment only to send it back out place her soul in the now empty body of Sango .Standing up and stretching Kanna looked down at the fallen body before her and laughed as she picked up the body easily carring it to a hollow tree and lowering the pale child into the hollow spot and covering it.
“don’t worry nothing will bother you after all it is youkai flesh”
Standing up straight and proud kanna looked over her new body and smirked as hands slide over the full breasts and well curved hips of the demon exterminators body. Then gathering up the firewood Sango had dropped she smilingly made her way back to the group. Neverous as she approach the hanyou she set the wood down and began to feed it into the fire.Jumping as she heard Inuyasha’s voice right behind her.
“ damn it Sango I was about to go looking for you stupid human wench did it have to take so long?”
“ Sorry Inuyasha I had to take care of some while I was out there … I was thinking perhaps after breakfast we should shippo and kirara ahead of us to find a good camping spot”
“keh damn woman troubles probably” turning his back on kanna and frowning” I suppose they could have everything y byy by the time we got there and kirara should be able to keep the brat out of trouble”
Kanna relaxed and sighed her biggest worry would be gone for the day at least the small demon cat would be the most likely to notice any mistakes she made while in this new body after all the two had been together far to long for the cat not to notice the small things she wouldn’t know. Moveing to each of the sleeping group and shaking them awake telling them it was time to eat and then travel.
“hey shippo I have a job for you after we eat brat you and kirara get to fly ahead of us and find a good camping spot and have it all ready for when the rest of us get there”smirking Inuyasha informed the smal kitsune.
“what you really mean it Inuyasha I get to go on my own and do something cool?”
The young fox looked very pleased at the sudden assignment finding it was kind of nice to treated more grown up all of the sudden. His small chest puffed out in pride and he quickly ate this meal with the enthusiasm of one who doesn’t know just how much work he had volunteered for. Laughing as they watched the group could only smile as shippo kept rushing kirara finally finished he moved to kirara as she transformed and quickly jumped on.
“ come on kirara let go find our camping spot and get everything ready, haha we are the group scouts now and must do these sort of things…oh and also watch out for trouble”
Laughing as they waved good bye Inuyasha,kagome and Miroku all watched the two depart with amusement, Kanna watched with pleasure her plan had gone as she had hoped soon she would serve her master and he would look at her with love.
