~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Inuyasha paced the computer room back and forth nervously. Kagome was late—She was almost twenty minutes late for her meeting with Kikyou. Could that girl never get her ass out of bed in time?! Sesshoumaru stood near a window, casual a summer’s breeze. It was his job to escort Kagome to Chikyuuryu, however, Kagome was very late. Sesshoumaru was slightly annoyed—Kagome certainly wasn’t known for her punctuality. Shippo, as usual, was on the main computer, Saiyuri-X was sitting on her usual little chair and plugged into the computer and for once, Miroku was gracing him with his presence.
“Inuyasha, please sit down, you’re making me nervous!” Miroku sighed.
“How can I just sit down?! Kagome is almost half an hour late for her meeting with Kikyou!”
“I’m sure she has her reasons.” Sesshoumaru coolly replied.
“What reason could there be?!” Inuyasha snapped.
He stopped his pacing only to ball up his fist and growl.
“I swear to God, when she gets here, I’m going to really lay into her…!”
Inuyasha heard the door to the computer room slide open and heard Kagome’s cheerful greeting, as if there wasn’t a thing wrong.
“Goooood morning! Sorry I’m late!”
“Kagome! Where the hell were…?!”
Inuyasha turned around, his jaw dropping at Kagome’s appearance. Her blue skirt was tattered and ripped, she was slightly bruised up and her shirt was ripped so much, her white bra was visible! In her hand, she held a small box from the bakery she’d mentioned yesterday.
“Man, you should have seen the line at the bakery! Everyone was shoving and pushing and then, there was only one left! I had to hurry up and kick major ass to get it, but I got it! Okay, Sesshoumaru, we can leave!”
Inuyasha rushed over to Kagome, clenched her face between his hands and his face twisted into a panicked, pissed off grin.
“Ka-go-me…!!!! ARE YOU HONESTLY GOING TO CHIKYUURYU DRESSED LIKE THAT?!??!?!?!?!?!?!”
Kagome felt the need to back up in fear, but he had her head, so she wasn’t going anywhere.
“What did you expect?! I don’t have any other spare uniforms! These things are getting expensive!”
“That’s quite enough,” Sesshoumaru sighed.
All eyes were on Sesshoumaru as he pulled out his black cell phone.
“Yes…yes, it’s an emergency. Quite. Formal. Very formal. Make it so then.”
Within a second of hanging up the phone, the entire building began to shake! Everyone looked around, wondering what could have possibly been the cause. Shippo quickly stood up.
“Saiyuri—Assessment! What’s happening?”
“The quake are merely shockwaves…the source is approaching in three, two, one…!”
Saiyuri turned to the door the moment the shaking stopped. Inuyasha stormed over to the door and threw it open, only to get a size-six penny-loafer jammed into his face. As he went down, he could see a girl doing a leaping split over him, getting a glance at the girl’s light blue panties. She landed gracefully in front of Sesshoumaru and bowed her head.
“Rin Hikari at your service, Sesshoumaru-Sama!”
“Rin, you’re getting slow—I got off the phone with you…three seconds ago, according to Saiyuri.”
“Ah, gomen ne! I’ll do better, Sesshoumaru-Sama!”
Sesshoumaru cleared his throat at Rin and motioned for her to turn around. Rin looked at the group of shocked students including two handsome student male students, one with bright orange hair and another with short, black hair, and two, female students, one sitting beside the computer and the other standing near the door.
“Remember your manners, Rin.” Sesshoumaru chided.
“Ah, sorry!”
Rin quickly straightened up. She brushed off her pure white sailor uniform, starting with the white, pleated skirt outlined with black and eventually her black tie. She fanned out her long, brown hair, adjusted the side-ponytail, flicked her yellow Shikon Tama and adjusted the silver bracelet on her wrist. She pulled up the black, thigh-high stockings and fixed the matching black penny-loafers on her feet. She was certain she hit something, but she wasn’t exactly sure what. When she was finished with her quick adjustments, they were looking at a young, very beautiful, very adorable girl who was in the process of bowing her head.
“It’s a pleasure to meet all of you, my name is Rin Hikari—first year at Yukiryu High School and personal assistant to Sesshoumaru-Sama!”
She gave another polite bow.
“How do you all do?”
She straightened up and beamed happily. Kagome rushed over to Rin and hugged her tightly.
“You’re so adorable! So, you’re part of Sesshoumaru’s top fighters, right?”
“That’s right! You must be Kagome-Sama! It’s a pleasure to meet you! Congratulations on inheriting Mizuryu form Sou-Chan!”
Sesshoumaru cleared his throat and looked at Rin.
“Rin, business before pleasure.”
“Ah, of course! Kagome-Sama, I’m going to fix you up for your meeting with Kikyou-Sama! I had to attend a meeting with Kikyou-Sama as Sesshoumaru-Sama’s guest and she’s very formal! We’re very late, so we must hurry!”
Before Kagome could object, Rin rushed her out of the room just as fast as Rin had entered the room. Miroku whistled a little and chuckle.
“She’s cute, Sesshoumaru. And a first-year as well?”
“I suppose. She is overly excitable. At anyrate, I feel the need to say this only once—“
Sesshoumaru took off his silver glasses and wiped them with a small cloth pulled from his pocket.
“Should you even bat an eyelash towards Rin in a suggestive way, I will wage war against this school without a second though.”
The computer room was a silent as death. Sesshoumaru cracked a very small, hardly visible smile as he placed his thin, square-rimmed glasses back upon his face. He heard groaning and looked at Inuyasha, noticing he was coming around after being trampled not once, but twice by his associate.
“My apologies…I assume you’ll be alright and if not, direct all medical bills to my associate, Jaken. I’ll give you his cell phone number at a later time.”
Inuyasha sat up and growled at Yukiryu’s leader. When his mind was back in sorts, he asked what happened to Kagome and ‘that blaze of white and blue panties’. Sesshoumaru cleared his throat and corrected him.
“Rin will return with Kagome momentarily. It shouldn’t be too long, Rin works quickly…”
“You don’t say…Ne, Saiyuri-Chan…” Inuyasha groaned.
Saiyuri stood up with a smile and placed an ice-pack on Inuyasha’s head.
“Is there anything else I can get you, Inuyasha-Sama?”
“How about one beautiful work of art?” Rin’s cheery voice said.
Rin opened the door and bowed her head.
“Present, Higurashi Kagome-Sama.”
Inuyasha glanced warily at the door, the icepack he was holding in place falling to the floor upon seeing Kagome’s new appearance. The beautiful red kimono decorated with black butterflies matched Kagome’s fiery personality more than anything. Her lips were painted with a damn sexy red rouge. The black obi around her waist helped the kimono cling to her curves perfectly. Inuyasha eyed what Rin did with the girl’s hair and smirked. It made her look…so damn innocent. Kagome’s long hair was placed into a curly bun with two, thin braids coming from the bundle of curls held by a red ribbon.
“Well, cute, nee? Enough to make you fall in love all over again! Let him get a closer look, Kagome-Nee!”
Rin gave Kagome an energetic push forward and she almost tripped because of the tightness of the kimono. Inuyasha was out of his chair in a flash and caught her as she went head first into his chest.
“Kagome, you okay?”
She slowly looked up at him and a blush as red as the rouge on Kagome’s lips stained his cheeks. She looked innocent, startled and yet sexy at the same time. She gave a small nod.
“Yes, I’m fine…” she replied breathlessly.
“G…good.”
Rin looked at Shippo curiously—Was there something between her Neechan and Inuyasha? Shippo only smirked a little. Sesshoumaru cleared his throat, having quite enough of the intimate scene.
“Can this continue at a later time? We’re already half an hour late.”
“Oh, that’s right! I’m sorry! Sesshoumaru-San, let’s go!” Kagome said, pulling away from Inuyasha.
Sesshoumaru walked past Inuyasha, smirking at him slightly before following Kagome out of the door. Inuyasha sighed heavily before sitting back down in his chair and placing the ice pack Saiyuri had given him early back where it belonged—on his achin’ head.
“Well, well! First you say you can’t stand the girl, now you have that look in your eye like, ‘I can’t wait to get you into bed and...’…”
“Miroku-Sama!” Saiyuri blushed, almost ripping out of the computer.
“Miroku! Watch your mouth—You know Saiyuri’s programming is sensitive to anything ecchi.” Shippo sighed.
“Well, I can’t help it!” he grinned.
Miroku jumped off the desk he was sitting on and sauntered over to Inuyasha who was doing his best not to let Miroku’s goading get to him, but it was hard when Miroku was right—Kagome looked fucking hot in that kimono and when she’d fallen against him, he caught a strong scent of a perfume that made Inuyasha almost strip her down to see where the scent was coming from. Miroku raised his knee and put it between Inuyasha’s legs on the chair Inuyasha was sitting on. He leaned forward on his knee and smirked.
“Can you imagine what would happen if Inuyasha Takahashi paired up with Kagome Higurashi? The whole world would shake with fear!”
“You say that now…and if you crush my balls, I’ll take yours instead. So move the damn foot.” Inuyasha sighed, raising his head and throwing the ice pack at Miroku.
Miroku caught the ice pack with one hand and tossed it up and down for a minute.
“But I’m right, am I not?”
“Shut up. You’re right, are you happy?” Inuyasha asked standing.
“Why don’t you just ask her out? I mean you two are living together as it is.” Shippo said, never looking away from his monitor.
“Hah! Yeah, right. I couldn’t ask her out—What if it didn’t work out between us?”
“Saiyuri-Chan?” Shippo asked.
“Hai, Shippo-Sama…”
Saiyuri closed her eyes with a smile. A ringing sound was heard a few seconds later and she opened her beautiful blue eyes with a smile.
“Due to the records I have on both you, Inuyasha-Sama and Kagome-Sama, your compatibility is over 99.99% effective.”
Inuyasha glared at Shippo who was smirking that little fox grin of his. Inuyasha hated when Shippo was right…Inuyasha heaved a sigh and headed towards the door.
“Right now, let’s just focus on Kagome not blowing this meeting with Kikyou and updating our security systems, alright?”
“You got it, chief.” Shippo nodded.
“Miroku, you’re not exactly making yourself useful. Come with me.” Inuyasha said.
“I’m plenty useful!” he chuckled.
“Yeah, in bed. Now let’s go.”
“Inuyasha…! I never knew you had such feelings for me…!” Miroku sighed with a mock tremor in his voice.
Inuyasha grabbed Miroku by his collar and dragged him out of the computer rooms—He’d had enough of Miroku playing the comedian. As Inuyasha and Miroku left the room, Saiyuri stifled a small giggle.
“Their compatibility is also strong, but rather awkward, Shippo-Sama.”
“Yeah, well, what can I say? Idiots attract other idiots…” he sighed with a small smile.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kagome sat in a formal kneeling position in the classroom set aside for formal tea ceremony. Much to Kagome’s surprise, it was a tatami room—one that resembled several of the rooms at Inuyasha’s home. There were objects for making tea sitting in front of her, a bookshelf and several vases filled with beautiful flower arraignments. Whoever this Kikyou person was, she sure did favor old-fashioned traditions. Kagome could only thank the gods that Kikyou wasn’t upset about her late arrival—Kikyou herself had yet to make an appearance and was fifteen minutes later than Kagome for their meeting. When she’d arrived, Sesshoumaru promised he’d be near just in case things went bad. Kagome was escorted to the room by another student and was told to wait while Kikyou was informed. Kagome was both nervous and her legs were starting to fall asleep. She couldn’t wait to see how she would stand up and just fall right over when this meeting was completed. Kagome looked at the small, white box sitting beside her, holding the all-important desert that Kagome had fought literally tooth and nail for. It would get warm soon if she didn’t hurry up and eat it. Kagome heard the door slide open and her eyes widened when she saw the pale beauty adorned in a white and red miko’s uniform. She was wiping the side of her face with a small, white towel and smiled.
“I’m terribly sorry for keeping you waiting, Higurashi-Sama. The archery club was having a contest against a rival school and they needed my assistance.
Kagome held up her hands with a smile as Kikyou walked over to the closet doors.
“Oh, no! No need to be so formal! And don’t worry about it—I just got here a little while ago myself!”
“Ah, well, then, welcome to Chikyuuryu. Please excuse me while I change.”
Kagome watched as Kikyou unabashedly began to strip out of her robes. Kagome couldn’t help but stare at the senior’s body—Kikyou was simply beautiful! Kikyou let down her long, black hair as she stood half-naked, adorned in only a pair of panties, in front of Kagome and opened her closet door. She pondered what kimono she should wear and decided on a light, lavender yukata with pink cherry blossoms on them. After she was changed, Kikyou walked over to Kagome and the tea making set. Kagome said nothing as Kikyou began to make tea in the way only a skillful person of that art could. Kagome was surprised when Kikyou handed her the small clay glass with a smile.
“Please, tell me what you think of this.”
Kagome bowed her head and thanked her for the drink. Kagome took a few sips and her eyes widened—This was the best tea she’d ever had!
“It’s wonderful, Sakurahime-Sama!”
“Oh, please don’t call me so formally. After all, we are both young women of power.”
Kagome bowed her head with a smile that Kikyou returned.
“Well, now, should we get down to business?”
“Of course! Oh, wait, before I forget…”
Kagome reached for the white box sitting beside her and handed it to Kikyou.
“This is a present—Something to remember our first meeting by.”
“Oh, my! Why…thank you very much, Kagome-San.”
Kikyou opened it up and the look of pure surprise was enough for Kagome. Kikyou looked at Kagome with her gentlest smile.
“Thank you so much! I don’t know what to say! This is my favorite dessert! Normally, I would have gotten one myself today, but because of the tournament…!”
“No, it’s okay! I’m glad to have gotten it for you!”
“Is that why you have that scar on your face…?”
Kikyou reached out her delicate hand and Kagome could only blush as Kikyou stroked small scratch on the side of her face. Kikyou’s touch was warm....soothing. Kagome could barely stammer out a reply.
“Oh...oh, it was really no trouble!”
“You shouldn’t say things like that—A lovely face like yours needs to be well taken care of.”
Kagome was turning redder by the moment. She’d never received so much…intimate attention from another girl before. Kikyou sat back with a smile.
“But, there must be some way I can thank you for this dessert. Let’s discuss it after politics are out of the way, shall we?”
“Y…yes, of course.”
“First of all, let me extend my deepest sympathy for Houryu’s attack on you. I’m only relieved you stepped into the role of Mizuryu’s leader so quickly and honorably. Souta-Sama would be proud.”
Kagome’s eyes widened a little as Kikyou set her cup down.
“You knew my brother?”
“Of course. He and I were very close. I trust you haven’t heard from him in a while?”
Kagome shook her head a sigh.
“No…I’m afraid I haven’t heard from him in some time.”
“I see…”
Kagome was almost surprised at Kikyou’s reaction. She looked very…disappointed.
“Um…Kikyou-San…may I ask you something?”
“Of course.” Kikyou smiled.
“Did…you love my brother, by any chance?”
Kikyou didn’t reply, but put a hand to her blushing cheek and gave a soft smile.
“Is it obvious?”
Kagome shook her head with a smile.
“Oh, no! I was just curious.”
“Yes…I was very fond of Souta-San. He was a very gentle soul, you see. Very kind, attractive…I wanted to marry him one day.”
“What changed?” Kagome asked, setting her teacup down.
“Oh, Kagome-Chan…you’re so young and innocent. I don’t want to say anything that might…”
“No! It’s really okay! I don’t remember much of my Niisan…only that he was strong, gentle and brave.”
Kikyou gave another soft smile and took a long drink of her tea before sighing a bit.
“Well…Souta-San and I were lovers at one point. We often talked about uniting Mizuryu and Chikyuuryu as we laid in bed together and starting a family.”
“I would love to have you for an older sister, Kikyou. What happened?” Kagome asked sadly.
Kikyou was touched by Kagome’s genuine and kind words. In a way, Kagome very heavily resembled Souta. Maybe that’s why Kikyou felt the pull of attraction to Mizuryu’s new leader. Kikyou let out a sigh and stared into the remaining tea.
“Two years ago, when we were both freshman, there was an assault on both Chikyuuryu and Mizuryu…Led by Naraku of course, but it was because Souta-San and myself were off in Odaiba that day for a date. We let down our guards, blinded by our love and that’s what did it. When Souta and I still talked, it wasn’t as informal as we used to. He was attaching ‘Sama’ to the end of my name when we’d stopped using honorifics.”
Kagome looked at the sadness in Kikyou’s soft, brown eyes. Kikyou really loved Souta. She could imagine that their breakup was around the time when Sango started having feelings for him as well, but Kagome refused to bring that up.
“And then he just disappeared, right?”
“Well…he may be gone for now, but he left a little piece of him behind. Two pieces, actually.”
“What do you mean?”
Kikyou’s eyes widened slowly and it dawned on her that Kagome had no idea about the two most precious things in her elder brother’s life. One of them was to go to her as it was, now that Souta had been absence for so long.
“You really don’t know? Would you like to see?”
“Of course!” Kagome nodded.
“One moment, Kagome-San. I believe you’ll enjoy this quite a bit.” Kikyou smiled as she pulled out a cell phone.
Despite her traditional ways, everyone in the four rivaling schools had a cell phone. It was how they got mass messages, emails and conversations around. Kikyou typed in a text message and set her phone down.
“It should only be a few minutes now. Would you like some more tea?”
“Of course!”
As Kikyou made more tea with the kit in front of her, Kagome couldn’t help but wonder what kind of man her brother really was. She never pegged him for a player, especially because she’d never really known very much about his love life, or him for that matter. What must it have felt like for Kikyou to stop seeing the love of her life and have him disappear out of the blue? Kagome seethed slightly—She could blame it all on that bastard Naraku!
“Kikyou! We have to do something to bring down Houryu once and for all!”
Kagome’s out burst startled Kikyou slightly, but she continued to make the tea, never straying from her perfection.
“I know this well. That is why I’d like to talk to you about uniting our schools. If I understand correctly, from Sesshoumaru, Yukiryu is united with you as well, correct?”
“Yes, that’s right.” Kagome nodded.
“Well, I see no problem with…”
“Kikyou-Sama, I’m coming in.” a gruff voice from outside the doors said.
“Ah, yes! Come in!”
Kikyou finished making the tea just as her guests arrived. Kagome turned around, expecting to see one person, but she saw two—and one of them was a child. The man holding the young toddler in his strong arms was handsome—long, black hair pulled into a ponytail and blue eyes that pierced the soul. He was wearing a emerald-green blouse, black pants and a dark black tie with the Chikyuuryu emblem on it. While he held the child with one arm, he had something wrapped in cloth in his free hand. The child in his arms had to be atleast two, maybe three years old. He had two, deep brown and familiar looking eyes and was dressed in a green kimono. His short hair barely went to his shoulders. Kagome turned to Kikyou for an explanation, but when she saw Kikyou rise with the softest look in her eye, Kagome almost went into shock.
“Ryouta, come to mother.” She said, opening her arms.
Kagome paled as the child was transferred from the young man’s arms to Kikyou. The child nuzzled his mother’s chest softly and giggled.
“Okaachan, guess what I did today with Kouga-Nii?”
“What do you do, Ryouta?” Kikyou asked, humoring the child.
“We went to the girl’s locker room and Kouga showed me how to peep without getting caught! I didn’t like it much though…it was only of girls undressing and getting dressed! I got bored!”
Kagome tried her hardest to stifle a giggle as Kikyou glared at Kouga who was trying to justify his perverted actions. Kouga would get what was coming to him later, but for now, Kikyou had introductions to make. She sat the child down and sat back down once more in front of the tea set. The child sat obediently beside Kikyou and grinned at Kagome. Kouga took a seat beside Kagome, folding his legs beneath him in the traditional way of sitting. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and gave her a grin. She was such a radiant beauty in that kimono. He’d heard about Mizuryu’s new leader being a hottie, but she defied all expectations of her own beauty.
“My name is Ookamikaze Kouga. I’m a third year here.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Kouga-San. I’m Higurashi Kagome…A first year and Mizuryu’s new leader.”
“You’re pretty young to be assuming power.”
“Kouga don’t insult her. She is Souta’s sister after all.”
“And my papa, right?” Ryouta grinned, looking at his mother.
Kagome blanched and Kikyou tried to make light of the situation.
“That’s right. Then do you know who this lady is?”
Ryouta looked at Kagome for a minute and grinned.
“Obaachan!”
Kagome blanched even more—She was certainly far too young to be anyone’s aunt. She tried waving her hand in a dismissive smile.
“Th…that’s right, but you can just call me Kagome—Neechan, okay?”
“Mmm! Okay!”
Ryouta stood up and hurried over to hug Kagome. Kagome could feel an amazing warmth from this child…this child that was her brother’s child and her nephew. He resembled Souta so much, it was almost scary. She wrapped her arms around her nephew with tears of joy spilling down her face.
“It’s so wonderful to meet you, Ryouta.”
“You too…! Why are you crying, Kagome-nee?”
“Oh, it’s nothing…! I’m just so happy about meeting you!” she said, wiping her tears away with a smile.
Ryouta reached his tiny hand up and began wiping his Neechan’s tears away. Kagome put her own hand to the side of Ryouta’s face.
“He’s so handsome, Kikyou-Sama.”
“Well, like father like son. Ryouta, it’s time for your afternoon nap, okay?”
“Okay!” he said with no sign of irritation at being told to take a nap.
“Kouga, you know where his futon is.” Kikyou smiled.
“Yep.”
Kouga stood up and walked over to the closet and pulled out a futon much too large for the child, Kagome figured it was because Kikyou shared the futon with her child. After laying Ryouta down and kissing him on the forehead, Ryouta was off in dreamland within minutes. Kikyou returned to her spot in front of Kouga and Kagome with a small sigh.
“Everyone simply adores him…” she sighed softly.
“I…never knew my brother had a child. How old is he?”
“The kid’ll be three in the winter. He’s a handful, but he’s really well behaved.”
“My fear is that will change if you continue to show him how to do such immoral things. Really, Kouga, peeping?” Kikyou said, sipping her tea.
“Aw, c’mon! The kid has no interest in girls yet!”
“And this coming from the person I trust so much with Ryouta’s upbringing. Really, Kouga…” Kikyou sighed.
Kagome giggled a little and Kouga glared at her, but his look softened when he saw how pretty Kagome was when she smiled. Kikyou could easily see the attraction and asked Kouga to go and get something for Kagome to eat. He replied that he would see what he could find and left. Kikyou sighed with a smile.
“I’m sorry, he means well. We’ve been friends since childhood—You see, his father owned a dojo near my family’s shrine.”
“No, it’s alright! But…I’m still very surprised Souta has a child. My parents didn’t even speak of Ryouta at all!”
“We simply did not speak of it with our parents, even though it’s quite obvious my own parents know. Kagome, please do not think ill of me…”
“Never!”
Kagome reached over and took Kikyou’s hands tightly in her's.
“You gave life to the son of my brother! That makes me so very happy, Kikyou! I just wish there was something I could do…”
Kikyou looked down thoughtfully and looked at Kagome once more.
“Please, take care of Ryouta for me if anything should happen to me.”
“Why would anything happen to you, Kikyou?”
“Its no secret Naraku wants my life…Just as he did my predecessor’s. Kagome…I understand that it was because we were related in the past that you believe I harbor ill intentions for you, but that is simply not the case. I want you to know that I am dedicated from keeping the chains of fate from being so strong, we as Toushi can never break them.”
“But…! You have already broken the chains of fate, Kikyou! You have a child! The Kikyou of the past doesn’t!”
Kikyou gave a smile at the thought. True, Kikyou of the past ran off with Inuyasha’s predecessor and they both died early, but here she was—With a child nonetheless.
“Nonetheless, Kagome…If something ever happens to me, I wish for you to raise Ryouta. You will be the only family he has left.”
“I promise, I will.” Kagome replied softly.
“Thank you. Now…shall we talk about the fates of our schools?” she smiled.
“Of course.”
For the next two hours, Kikyou and Kagome solidified a bond that was already starting to break the chains of fate. Kikyou talked about support she could offer when Mizuryu goes to war with Houryu for the final time and Kagome discussed offering her school protection from Houryu’s invading forces. By the time was setting in the sky, a bond between the two schools had been formed. Kikyou walked Kagome out to the car waiting to take her back to Mizuryu.
“Kagome, I cannot thank you enough for coming to our aid. I feel as though this will be a wonderful bond.”
“I think so too, Kikyou! Please, promise that you’ll bring Ryouta to visit us as Mizuryu sometime!”
“That will be a lovely visit, I’m sure. Get home safe, Kagome-San.”
“Yes, thank you!”
Kagome kneeled down and hugged Ryouta and kissed him on his forehead. With another wave, Kagome got into the black Cadillac where Sesshoumaru had been waiting all day.
“I trust negotiations went well, Kagome-San?”
“Yes, very much so! I can’t wait to tell everyone back at Mizuryu!”
Kagome rolled down the window and waved to Kikyou as the car pulled off. Kikyou waved back before picking up Ryouta in her arms and carrying him back inside of the school. He was still a little tired from being awoken from his nap. Kikyou was laying him back down in the futon when she felt a cold and familiar presence behind her.
“Sounded like you enjoyed your visitor today, Kikyou.”
Kagome turned to the dark man standing in the doorway with a glare. She hated him with a true passion, but what could she do?
“Yes…I have kept my end of the bargain. You make sure to hold up yours as well.”
He walked over to Kikyou and kneeled beside her and the futon with her sleeping child on it. She shuddered when he placed his hand on the side of her face.
“Of course. I do not go back on his word.”
“Neither do I.” she replied icily.
He gave a sinister chuckle and looked at the sleeping child.
“Such a precious child, Kikyou…His father must be proud.”
“Get out.” Kikyou said, pulling the blanket further upon the sleeping child.
“As you wish, Hime.”
Once he was gone, Kikyou sighed heavily and stared at her sleeping child. Hopefully, she could find a way out of this grave situation before he made his move…She could only hope and pray he’d keep up his end of the bargain before the threads of the lives of her two most important people were cut by that terrible man. She leaned over and kissed Ryouta’s head. She prayed her son never learned the truth about the wretched sacrifices his mother had to make…and always see her in a good light—A child’s innocence and her own life was now at stake.
