When their tongues had greeted each other politely, they then began a bit of squabble, fighting, almost playfully, for dominance.
Neither gained the position, but instead they took turns feeling and rubbing around each others' mouths, getting used to their feels. This carried on for a while, until a knock came from the door, causing them both to jump and spring away from each other.

Chapter 8- Interruptions
Both sprang up from the couch hurriedly and straightened out their clothes.
"Enter," Sesshomaru said. A small demon-servant entered and bowed.
"Lunch will be served shortly, and pardon my interruption, my Lord," he said softly. Sesshomaru nodded and dismissed him with a wave of his hand. Bowing his way out, the servant exited. Sesshomaru crossed the room, his tail floofing about as he strode widely, Kagome following. He opened the door for her, and then offered his arm again. She gladly accepted and they made their way down.
Upon entering the dining room, Sesshomaru took his arm away and sat at the head of the table, a servant had pulled his chair out for him, and the one to the right Sesshomaru for Kagome. More servants brought out plates and dishes. It was a simple lunch, consisting of soups, salads, rabbit, and vegetables to choose from.
"This is our first meal together, isn't it?" Sesshomaru asked quietly, looking at what he wanted to eat. Kagome looked up from the food and at him. A small smile came upon her.
"Yes"¦ yes, it is," she answered. Sesshomaru stole a quick glance at her softly smiling face. Not but a few minutes ago he had had is tongue sliding along those soft lips, his hands on her face and neck, hers on his. He licked his lips as he looked down at the food he had absent-mindedly dished to himself. He suddenly became nervous, like Kagome might be watching him, inwardly criticizing him and his actions, his choices. Kagome, though, had the same thoughts crossing her mind, the same assumptions. Neither would really criticize each other though, Kagome was open-minded, and Sesshomaru cared to much about her to critique her.
Halfway through lunch, both were eating silently, when they shifted their feet at the same time, and their feet bumped each other.
"Oh, my apologies, Sesshomaru," Kagome murmured. He didn't reply, but only nudged his foot against hers again. She smiled lightly at him as she stuck a pair of chopsticks gripping some dressed lettuce into her mouth. He slurped his egg drop soup as her slippered foot came to rest on top of his.

Kaede clucked her tongue at InuYasha as a few of the men from her village carried InuYasha in front of her.
"You got yourself into it, boy. Now I'm not going to help you when that brother of yours comes back to finish you off, but I am obligated to nurse you back to health. You have helped me many times, but you deserved that. No girl deserves to be raped, especially such a pure woman as Kagome! A good bit of a fiend you are, aren't you?" she said with a touch of anger. InuYasha was fading in and out of consciousness and didn't really hear all of what she said.
"Whatever you say, old hag," he mumbled.
Upon reaching the village, Sango slapped him, and Miroku sniffed at him. Koga was there also, growling like mad at the severely injured hanyou, refusing to speak to the filth. He deserved it.
----------------
Lunch finished, and they returned to Sesshomaru's room to lounge. Time came and went as they chatted away. Talking of anything and everything. Relationships can't be based solely on romanticism. Communication must be able to exist also"¦ both believed that, and were establishing that connection quickly. After going to dinner, they returned to their rooms, and took turns in the hot springs to bathe.
Kagome, being first to take a bath, returned to her room in a fluffy pink robe. She wondered what the robe was made of; it was incredibly soft and warm, absorbing all of the moisture off of her body in an instant, except for her hair. When she entered her room, Sesshomaru was also in there, bustling about the room, tail dragging and twitching occasionally. Kagome watched him. He seemed to preoccupied to have noticed her entrance. Clearing her throat, Kagome let an amused smile come upon her lips.
The inuyoukai's head snapped up, and he stopped his moving about. He was in his robe also, being next to bathe.
"Oh, you're out already. I was planning on you taking longer," he murmured. Kagome nodded.
"I wasn't in the mood for much relaxing," she said.
"I see, well, I was just"¦ just putting some new things in the room. It has never really been used, and some of the clothing and decorations are outdated, I thought I'd put some new things in here, make it more lively," he explained quietly, a touch embarassed. Kagome just kept smiling and looked around. There were more lights, and paintings now decorated the walls. Kagome looked around, very pleased. The evidence of her satisfaction was plastered across her face in a grin. She closed the large space between them, and slipped her arms under his, and hugged him fiercely. His brows disappeared into his bangs for a moment, then he awkwardly patted her on the back in return.
A knock sounded from the door, interrupting them again. The demon sighed.
"Enter, Firiel," he said, smelling her human scent.
"Lord Sesshomaru," she bowed upon entering, "pardon my interruption. You have guests in the parlor. They call themselves Sango, Miroku, Shippo, InuYasha, Kaede and Koga. They wish to see you and the Lady immediately," she said. Kagome gasped in surprise and grabbed for Sesshomaru's hand. Darting quickly out of the door, the inuyoukai in tow, Kagome made her way "“ guessingly "“ to where she believed the parlor to be.
Throwing open the door, Kagome burst in, dropping the clawed hand she had been gripping fiercely a moment ago. She rushed into the woman she considered a sister's arms, embracing her with the fierceness, even more, she had just been gripping Sesshomaru with. Sango squealed in joy as she was brought to the ground by her adopted younger sister's attackful hug. Miroku grinned, and Shippo jumped on top of them. He had grown quite a bit over the years, and smushed the two women slightly. The three laughed with glee, Miroku looking upon them with a smile, Koga eyeing them curiously, Kaede also grinning, and InuYasha slouching, but all emotions and noises were silenced as Sesshomaru drew his sword.
InuYasha leapt to his feet, only to be dragged back down by the ever-aging Kaede and Miroku. Koga stood and bowed lightly.
"Long time, no see, ne?" He smiled. Sesshomaru nodded politely, then turned his attention to InuYasha.
"What are you doing here, you vile creature! And why aren't you dead!?"
"I healed him, m'Lord," the old priestess said as she rose, and bowed creakily. The demon lord growled.
"Why?" he hissed. "He nearly killed my Miko "“ do you not also care for her, correct?"
Kaede sighed. "Yes, of course I care for her. She is like a daughter to me, yet I also care for InuYasha, he is like a son to me. I previously believed that these two would fall in love and marry, but that will now not occur. I have laid my input into InuYasha's head, and made him feel at least a nick guilty. I brought him here so he would apologize. The others have come to visit Kagome and check on her.
"She does not need to be checked on. I am taking good enough care of her myself "“ but they may visit her occasionally if Kagome so wishes. And as for my brother: Get out. You have no place here. You never have and you never will," Sesshomaru's voice was stern and cold. Kagome looked at him for a moment, unsure, then pounced on Miroku, enveloping him in a friendly hug. She traveled to each of them, hugging them all in turn. She was a bit surprised when neither Koga nor Miroku embraced her too firmly, like usual, or let a hand slip out of place, like usual.
When she came to InuYasha, however, she turned away. He had been smiling in anticipation of her hug, he had always loved them, but now a ruefully sad expression spread across his features. Sesshomaru had to suppress a smile. Kagome then approached the Lord of the West.
"May they stay for a day or so? I would like to spend some time with them, and hear any news there might be," she asked nervously, quietly. Before he could answer, they were interrupted. InuYasha had leapt up, now fuming.
"You all just readily accept the fact that Kagome is living with this creep!!? What if he hurts her, doesn't treat her right!? You've all seen how cold and heartless he is! He could kill her in one stroke at any minute!" the red-clad hanyou spouted out furiously. "Even you, Koga? The one who repeatedly claimed her as yours?" he asked when he saw no support coming from the people around him. Sango shook her head.
"She is probably safer here than with you, InuYasha," she said, rising. The last word she seemed to spit out, like it was something rather disgusting. Kagome threw her eyes down, becoming interested suddenly with her feet. They were very close to Sesshomaru's.
"I have no interest in Kagome as my woman anymore, Mutt," Koga said calmly, leaned back into the couch he was sitting upon, his arms folded across his partially covered chest. "I have realized that she does not return the same feelings for me, and I do not wish her unhappiness."
Sesshomaru nodded politely to him. He knew Koga loved her. And love often hurts, he gave Kagome up so she would be happy. He was now thinking about Kagome's question. He would by no means allow his brother to stay here, but every one else he deemed okay to stay after a brief looking-over of each of them.
Completely ignoring his brother's stupid outburst, he answered Kagome's question by speaking to all of them. "You are all welcome to stay for a while. InuYasha must leave, though. He is not welcome here. Nor will he ever be," he stated with a frankness that made Kaede chuckle. Sango and Miroku grinned, along with Shippo. Koga nodded approvingly and Kaede shook her head.
"I can not stay, but thank you for your generous offer, Lord Sesshomaru. I must return to my village as soon as I can," she said and bowed. "Some of my guardsmen are waiting for me outside the premesis, so I think I will be on my way. I only came to make sure this one," she conked InuYasha on the back of the head, "behaved."
Sesshomaru nodded.
"So the rest of you will be staying?" he asked in his monotone voice, placing an elegant hand on Kagome's shoulder, his other hand still gripping Toukijin. InuYasha noticed the placement of both of his hands, and set his hand upon the hilt of the Tetsusaiga. He sniffed Kagome from where he stood. She reeked of him, but she was still innocent. He huffed. He needed Kagome to find the shards, otherwise Naraku would get them all, and he would destroy all of them. He decided he would ask soon"¦ he needed to.
A servant entered quietly.
"Food is ready, if one wishes to eat. And I will escort Lady Kaede to the gates if she does not wish to eat."
Sesshomaru nodded to himself and lightly grabbed Kagome's hand and led her out of the room. Everyone followed them. They, a moment later, stepped into the vast dining room, and platters of food had been laid out buffet style along the table. Koga and Miroku immediately dove into the food. Kagome left Sesshomaru's side to converse with her friends and bid Kaede farewell. It had seemed like years when she last had seen her friends. Well, it had been about two months since she had seen Sango, Miroku, and Kaede, and even longer since she had last seen Koga.
She sighed with happiness. She was safe and happy, surrounded by her friends "“ and one particular demon she had the strangest feelings for"¦.
That demon was now personally ushering out InuYasha, making sure he didn't wander about the house or grounds.
------------------
The day went by quickly, and Kagome had been filled in on nearly all that she had missed with Sango and Miroku, and then Koga's wolf pack. They were sitting leisurely in one of the living rooms, a fire cackling happily in front of them. Sesshomaru chose to sit off to himself while Kagome laughed and talked with these people. Though he was completely content to watch her smiling face. She seemed really happy, and he let her enjoy herself.
Things seemed to really be looking up for Sesshomaru. He had a beautiful Miko he would eventually call his own. There was a good amount of peace in his lands"¦ and well everything was just good. Except Naraku. But he didn't feel like worrying about that issue right now. He watched curiously as a servant entered the room and approached him.
"My Lord, your half-brother remains at the gates. He insists upon talking to you. He said he has an important question," he said quietly. Sesshomaru sighed and rose from the leather chair he had been sitting in. Kagome broke off her conversation with Miroku about the difference in miko powers and other spirit powers to watch Sesshomaru get up, an annoyed look on his face. She caught his eye and gave him a questioning look. Miroku looked up too.
"I will return shortly. There is some"¦ unwanted"¦ business I must deal with," he said and excused himself. For some reason it made Kagome incredibly curious.
"'Scuse me, Miroku. I'll be back. I want to see what he's up to," she whispered. He nodded with a smile and then turned to his wife and Koga, who were avidly discussing battle techniques. Shippo was dozing in a chair near the fire. Kagome slipped silently from the room and into the hallway. It was dark already. She caught a glimpse of his white clothes rounding the corner and she followed him. As soon as she rounded the turn, tip-toeing carefully, she ran right into something tall and rather fluffy. Looking up she realized it was Sesshomaru.
"Why are you following me?" his voice was void of any emotions.
"Mmm"¦ I'm curious, I suppose," she grinned innocently.
"Hm," he grunted and laid a hand on her head. "InuYasha is still outside. He wishes to speak with me. You may follow, but do not let him see you. I could smell you, but he won't be able to out there, the wind is blowing toward the house. Be careful, Miko," he said to her. He felt an odd oncoming of "“ love. He looked into the woman's eyes, they were dark and deep. She was already looking up at him, though lazily. He cupped her chin in his hand and gently lifted her head. He bent down and placed a soft, chaste, kiss on her dry lips.
He went to pull away, but Kagome stopped him. She carefully grabbed a fistful of silken mane, and kept his lips pressed against hers. She opened her mouth slightly, as she did so, so did Sesshomaru. Their tongues greeted each again. Both were nervous and ill-experienced. It was light at first, their kiss, but it soon became rather heated. Tongues were forcing their way to the back of each other's mouths, tasting every sweet inch of each other. Both were rather messy with it, though, and the area around their mouths was rather wet with each other's saliva.
Sesshomaru finally broke it off.
"Come, the brat of my half-brother is waiting. I want to see what this is all about," he said quietly and stood upright again. He began to turn, but Kagome caught him in an embrace and kissed his cheek quickly.
"Thank you," she whispered, burying her head in his tail that draped over his shoulder.
"For what?" he asked simply.
"For"¦ for taking care of me. For saving me. For everything"¦ and for caring for me. It means a lot, it really does," she said quietly. He looked down at her raven head, then wrapped his arms around her as well.
"You are most welcome, little Miko," he whispered and lay his lips in her hair, breathing in her sweet scent.

Hope you all liked it. I made it longer than most chapters to TRY and make up for all the time I wasn't updating. Sorry! Please forgive me and my stupidity. Hah. Well"¦ I'd like to ask you all to review, but that would be selfish since I haven't updated in ages.
I love you guys, hah.
