Chpt 8 Again
The towns whizzed by as Izayoi peered out of the window. She remembered the last time she had been in Kyoto before the whole mess with Sesshomaru had happened. It was over twenty years ago when her two boys were just children, and the love of her life was still alive...
“Ma'am, would you like a refreshing beverage while you wait?”
Izayoi turned towards the attendant who was serving chilled tea and water to all of the passengers on the bullet train. She knew that she should just turn around and wait for Sesshomaru and Inuyasha in Tokyo, but something told her to get back to Kyoto post haste, and she'd be damned if she'd ignore a feeling this strong.
“Mint, towel?”
Izayoi politely declined again and went back to watching the blurred images of homes and countryside whiz past her window.
She would be in Kyoto soon.

“When can I see you again?”
“Huh?”
Sango spun towards the man who had helped her comb the entire hotel and much of the block in search of Kagome. She had finally given up hoping that Kagome was simply out partying and would be back in the morning. As it was, it was already 2AM, and there was no point in stressing out anymore. She would wait until midday and then start on her hunt again—this time she'd go directly to the Taishos.
“When can I see you again? To help you?”
Sango exhaled in relief. For a moment, she thought that the incredibly handsome and mysterious you-can't-really-be-that-good-looking man was trying to ask her out. Not that she minded, but she just couldn't deal with that right now. She had a missing miko and coworker on her hands and...well, she had her heart on the other. And she was definitely not prepared to deal with her heart tonight.
“Why don't you meet me in the lobby tomorrow at noon? We can take it from there.”
Sango turned to go and then frowned and stopped. Something wasn't right.
“Why? Why are you helping me?”
Inuyasha couldn't contain his glee as he made the new date to meet with the little warrior-woman Sango. She was strong and beautiful and incredibly loyal—all the same traits that he saw in himself. He was so impressed that he had completely forgotten his cover story and had spoken to her of his real life and desires while they “searched” for her missing friend...leaving out a few choice details, of course.
“You're beautiful. Why not?”
Sango blushed, unable to quite make out what that answer met. But whatever it was, she needed the help and he was...well, the compliment was nice. Acting purely on impulse, Sango crossed over to the man whose last name she still didn't know and placed a chaste kiss on his lips.

Inuyasha almost reached out for her, but Sango recoiled as quickly as she had sprung, face ablaze with a mixture of emotions. Now thoroughly embarrased, she ground out a weak arigato and turned, leaving an open-mouthed Inuyasha in her wake.
