There was a knock at the door, startling Kagome out of her thoughts. “W-what?” she said, trying to sound cool and calm, but failing miserably.
“Kagome-san,” Mina said sticking her head in through the sliding door. “Sesshoumaru-sama has called dinner, its time to go.” Mina opened to door all the way, “Don’t be so nervous, I can smell it,” she wrinkled her nose. Kagome stood with some difficulty out of the mound of bedding, and went to the door.
“Can you really smell my emotions?” she asked looking at what she thought as her keeper.
“Just the strong ones. You know like fear, worry, anger, happiness, stuff like that.” Mina pushed Kagome toward the main castle. “If we don’t hurry, we’ll be late!”
“Ok! I’m coming.” Kagome began to pick up the pace. She had a bit of trouble keeping up with the other girl. “How can you go so fast?” she said a bit breathlessly as the reached some beautifully painted doors.
“I wasn’t going that fast,” Mina raised an eyebrow. “This is the first time I’ve been around a human for so long so I didn’t know that you were so weak.”
“I didn’t know I’d be running a mile to get to dinner.” She mumbled. Mina opened the door for Kagome, entering and bowing.
“Miss Kagome-san has arrived, my lord.” She said somewhere off to the left side of the room. She obviously got some sort of response, as she turned and motioned Kagome into the room. “Kagome-san, our lord Sesshoumaru.” Kagome bowed deeply to the stoic lord.
“I am honored Sesshoumaru-sama,” she said standing. Kagome saw she must have been one of the first ones there, since there was only an ancient looking wolf with a young red-haired, white tailed youth next to it. She automatically assumed that the wolf belong to the girl. There was also a very un-regal looking man with silver wings sprouting from his back and a long scaled tail swished behind him. He had wild black hair that hung down his back and his cheeks were already pink with sake. Mina led Kagome to a cushioned pillow and stood behind it till she had seated herself. Mina went and sat against the wall.
Kagome tried to remember all she had learned in history class about customs of this kind. She tried to appear calm and cool, and succeeded on the out side. She nodded politely to those she had not been introduced to, and waited for something to happen to ease the situation. She sat near the other end of the medium sized table, near the man that was drunk, Man? No, demon was more like it. She was a human among strange creatures, the only one within maybe a hundred miles of this place. But she wouldn’t despair, she would wait to wake up, or be sent back home. Whichever happened first.
