Koga's heart beat frantically in his ears as he raced towards the pack's healer. Worry wracked him, hoping he wasn't going to be too late. She risked her life to save me. A picture of her deadly still flickered through his mind, a solitary tear ran down his cheek at the thought. Determined that wouldn't happen he put his all in getting there.

Inuyasha
"Inuyasha...Inuyasha...Inuyasha," nagged Shippo.
"What do you want runt?"
"I want Kagome, I miss her and so does everyone else."
"We don't need Kagome we have Kikyo, the original, the better, we don't need the reincarnation," Inuyasha said coldly.

Tears pricked Shippo's eyes at the cold comment, as he ran to find Sango and Miroku. 'Inuyasha is such a blind jerk and that Kikyo is such a bitch, a cold bitch, how Inuyasha can stand her touching him is beyond me.' As he was running he wasn't paying attention to were he was going until he ran into something and tumbled. Looking up he saw he ran right into Kikyo.

"Shippo," she said looking down and picking him up by his tail," where are you going in such a blind rush?" She tightened her grip on him when he started to struggle.

"Now listen, don't you think of going to find Kagome, with her out of my way I can finally have Inuyasha to myself, and I'm not going to lose him. Soon we'll be in hell just like he promised me it will end the problems of him always going back between us even I know I will always win," she smirked at that.

"Besides Kagome is probably more happier with Koga and away from you, so stay out of my way shrimp," with that she dropped him to the ground and sauntered off.

Unknown to either of them Inuyasha was listening in the shadows. He fell on his ass in surprise. 'Kikyo planned everything from drawing me out into the forest knowing I would come and would end up kissing her, right where Kagome would walk through. Damn it, and Kagome just had to run off with that damn mangy wolf. "I'll get you back Kagome," with that he set off in a dead run for the wolves' caves, not bothering to bring his companions

Koga gently laid Kagome on the soft pallet of furs and looked for the healer. "What brings you here Koga?" came a voice from the shadows that consume most of the cavern.
"I need your help. This is Kagome, she was badly injured in the battle against the Birds of Paradise. Can you help her?"
The old man stepped out of the shadows and into the sunlight, bending down to look at Kagome's injuries he looked her over.
"This woman ... she is very important to you is she not?"
"Yes, she is to be my mate, what of it?" Koga asked in a slightly impatient voice.

Ignoring the bite of annoyance in Koga's voice the old man said," Her wounds are very serious, a couple more could have finished her off. In fact she should be dead now, but no, she is a fighter," a small smile played at the corners of the old man's mouth.

"Go and get me some water. With the blood washed away then I can help her more."

Koga taking the water jug he leapt down to the river below to fetch the water. When he came back up the old man was getting out the needed herbs and starting to ground them up.

"Start wiping the blood away from her body," said the old man without looking up.

Koga wetted a cloth and started to clear the blood away from the gashes. The blood had stopped oozing and had started to dry from time passing and from the wind that rushed by her when Koga was running. This made cleanup a little difficult.

After cleansing the wounds didn't look that bad. Sure there was some deep cuts but it was mostly just scratches and scrapes. There was though major swelling and bruising. Big ass bruises covered her body like spots on a leopard. Her breathe though still irregular it seemed to had calmed and that was his biggest concern.

By the time he was done cleaning her, the healer came up behind him and started to apply salve to the most serious wounds.
He did then told Koga to lift Kagome up slightly to give a drink that would help her. When she wouldn't swallow he would rub her throat muscles and they contracted letting her swallow. After that he put her down and told Koga to rest.

"There is no need to make yourself sick when Kagome wakes up and needs you. Now you can rest here so you'll be close to her and not drive yourself crazy with worry."

He through a blanket made of fur and a rolled up smaller fur to serve as the pillow. As soon as his head hit the makeshift pillow he was fast asleep and dreaming.

The old man looked at him in a sad way. What he didn't tell Koga was that Kagome might not make it completely. She would linger for a few days if she was lucky then she would go. 'I gave her what would subdue the pain and make her last few days easier. No human can survive these injuries nothing less of a demon could survive. Why Koga can't see this is puzzling. Wait... a demon' he thought' Koga said he was going to make her his mate probably just mark her as his and not completely change her into one of us. So if he did she would have a greater chance of surviving the change.'

The best time for performing the ritual is on the full moon, which would be tomorrow night. The night which is special to all wolves would increase the success of the change not end up killing her. What also could kill her is the Miko blood in her, mikos being trained to kill demons there blood would do the same and reject the blood, ending up killing the 'poison' and the body.

'If Koga really loves her he will either change her or kill her. The pain she is going through is inhuman and unnecessary.

"Hang on little girl one more night for if we go through with this, its just the start of the pain." With that he too settled down to sleep.

Next Morning

The next morning Koga woke up to the healer applying more salve to the wounds of Kagome. Shaking his head to clear the last remnants of sleep.
"How is she?" asked Koga.

"There has been no change. Koga I want to talk to you about her when you have had something to eat," came the reply.
"Whats wrong? Why can't we talk now?"
"You need to eat and retain your strength then we'll talk." With that he walked off leaving a worried, fuming, irate wolf.

Quickly stuffing his face Koga made his way over and demanded to be told what was going on. "OK I have eaten so can you now tell whats wrong?"
"OK Koga I don't want you to interrupt me until I'm completely done got it?"
Without waiting he started.

"OK Koga Kagome is not going to last much longer. Her injuries while not external are internal. Humans cannot live through these injury extent. The only way she can survive is if she is changed, And by changed I mean she will have to become a wolf. I don't think you meant tonge nge her to one of us when you wanted to take her as your mate. This is the only way to ensure her survival."
The healer looked towards Koga signifying he was done and he could talk.
"Wha...Wha..." Shaking his head
"OK so what your saying is that if we don't change her into the a wolf is that she could die?" (Jeez what a smartie no?)
He nodded.
"When can this be done?"
"Tonight is the best time to do it,"

The rest of the day the healer explained what Koga would have to do to Kagome. When the night came and the moon came out the healer left. Koga looked at Kagome in the moonlight.

"Well, Kagome, this is what I think is the best. I just hope you dont hate me when you wake up."

With that he took a ceremonial dagger out of his side pocket and drew a long shaky breath.
"OK I can do this. I can do this."
He took the dagger and dew a thin line below her collar bone. Blood ran out of the cut. Koga then put his lips to the cut and sucked. 'I feel like a vampire'

He took the needed amount of the blood then Kagome's eyes opened suddenly. Koga looked down in surprise and shushed her when she would have talked.
"Just suck and please don't hate me later."

Then he slit his wrist and push her mouth to his wrist. Kagome took the wrist and started to lap up the blood. All the while she was doing this they kept their eyes on each other, Kagome' s trusting ones and Koga's nervous ones.
When Kagome stopped he took her and laid her back down. He laid down beside her and fell asleep beside her.
