Too Much Time On Their Hands

Things seemed to progress rather quickly for the fast growing family. At one moment things were going very well and the next as usual it was drama again. Megan had the two pups and was done for a while. Little Mia Ruby Tashio and Laurence Anthony Tashio were doing well. They were promised to the fox pups of Souta and Shippo from their second litter.

Inuyasha was however having a very hard time again with his pregnancy and was near the end. He was very sick though the whole time. He lost a lot of weight and was stuck in bed. Sesshoumaru was terrified he was going to lose this baby again since they had lost the last one.

Inuyasha sat up in bed feeling tired as he threw up again. Was this ever going to end? He couldn't touch much and they had him tube fed intravenously with an IV on his right arm to keep him hydrated that had been on him for what seemed like months. He was so tired and the baby was really taking a lot out of him this time. Sesshoumaru threatened to end the pregnancy early since he was not about to lose Inuyasha over their child. As much as he wanted this pup, his mate meant more to him.

"How are you feeling today my Inuyasha?"

Sesshoumaru stated softly as he came into the room sitting with his mate. Inuyasha was being washed up by Sesshoumaru’s gentle caressing hands as he did every day for his beloved mate with the bathing wipes given to him by Kagome. Inuyasha sat back trying to relax.

"I don't feel any better, but now that you are here I am happy. I love you and miss sleeping with you both. This sucks. Having you both here though helps. I am glad that Akiyoshi and Kagome brought in the cots for us to be together. I know Megan won’t be too long, she had to hunt again."

Sesshoumaru did not like the weakness his mate was suffering. Inuyasha was indeed suffering too. He was withdrawn and pale. There was not much left to him.

"I want you to drink more from me and Megan today again. Hopefully you will be able to hold it down. We need to build up your strength. Akiyoshi is going in today to induce your labor my beloved. We need to get this done."

Inuyasha nodded. He was tired and he couldn't fight them anymore. He felt like part of his own spirit was slipping away. Normally he would be ranting or complaining blaming Sesshoumaru for this whole mess while eating one of those delicious chocolate fudge brownies that he craved more than even the donuts he used to love. Right now all he wanted was to be held and loved. He felt so weak and afraid.

"Ok."

Sesshoumaru held Inuyasha tightly. Dr. Hojo stated they were going to lose Inuyasha if they didn't do this now. He was getting way too ill and his body had enough. This time Sesshoumaru was going to place a spell on his brother that would not allow him to ever have pups again. They could not do that to his poor body any more.

"Are you sure you don't want me to have more of our pups Sesshoumaru? I know this is hard for us all, but I loved carrying our babies. I know that we can do this again. Just let me heal and things will be fine. I swear I will not touch a damn crab leg again in my entire life nor lobster. I ate the whole damn thing in the bathroom after stealing it out of the tank at the restaurant. That has to be why I am so sick."

Inuyasha stated as the tears came.

"Well, I should have known better than to take us to any restaurant where there was temptation. However, Akiyoshi stated that your allergy would have been gone by now with all the medications they gave you plus with all of your illness you have very little of anything left in your stomach.’
“You cannot keep doing this Inuyasha. It is not going to do for us to keep having you so ill and these pregnancies are so hard on your fragile body. I love you too much to lose you. It is my place to keep you from harm and as strong as you are you cannot handle this anymore.’
“I have another option. I am going to carry our pups within me if there is going to be a male pregnancy in our mating. I found a scroll. Father said it was a onetime thing for me to have Lycos, but maybe not. Perhaps it is my turn. I don't mind. I loved having our son. You are strong Inuyasha and you can be Alpha while I am with pup. I will still be in control, but I can share it with you. Think of it as you are doing a favor for me with my heavy responsibilities in the pack. You need to lead more often anyway. It is what Father, my Mother, and your Mother would have wanted you to do. You are a Prince so it is time for you to step up to your share of the duties of your title."

Sesshoumaru smiled caressing his beloved's face. It was a big sacrifice, but one he was willing to make. Sesshoumaru did miss that feeling of carrying his own child to full term.

"You have changed a lot Sesshoumaru. Did you know this? If you were to look at yourself in the past and then now I don't think you would know yourself anymore. I feel kind of bad about that, but at the same time I am also very happy about it too. Does that make sense my love?"

Inuyasha stated softly as Sesshoumaru put an arm around his mate holding him against his body feeling very safe.

"Yes, but I like who I am now much better than before. I did not care about anything before I met you and I hated the world. I was not happy and now I am. Some days I feel sorrow, but I feel. I have feelings and I show them. I couldn't do that before and now I don't regret a moment I have with any of you that I love so dearly. I show my feelings every chance I get. I show them to our family. You all mean way too much to me for me to continue being who I once was.'
"We grow and we change Inuyasha. That is life. You have changed a lot too. You are a man, not a boy. You have been a man for a long time. I feel honored to be your mate and I love what we have. I have two beautiful mates that I love more than my life. I can say that. I would not have ever said such things before now, but I can say them with you as the man I have become. I don't want to revert back to that foolish boy I was. I too have grown up and learned from my past."

Inuyasha felt so tired and he was in so much pain. Inuyasha in all the battles and all the scraps he had been in had not hurt this much in his life. His mates could feel it and they kept silent suffering for him as they just stayed to try to comfort him. The three of them had completely bonded to a point that they were indeed much like one whole being. In drinking each other’s blood so often they became genetically and mentally linked like nothing Dr. Akiyoshi Hojo had ever seen in his entire medical career.

“Drink some more of this Inuyasha. I need you to be well. They will be coming soon to take care of you and even if I wanted to I am not allowed to linger long.”

Inuyasha drank Sesshoumaru’s blood feeling a bit better, but he was so very tired. Megan came in later to give him some of hers and then Inuyasha felt the medicine slide into his veins as they started the inducing labor. Ayame gently rubbed his arm and Kagome prepped the room.

The surgery seemed to take forever and this time no one except the medical staff was allowed in the room. It was so quiet in there and then the sound of a baby crying was heard. Inuyasha was very quiet though and Akiyoshi came out with his face grim.

“Now we just wait for him to recover.”

Dr. Hojo said as he walked out of the room leaving Inuyasha with his mates. He was on oxygen and there were many tubes keeping the young man alive. Inuyasha was strong for a demon, but he still was severely wounded internally with his organs mangled even more then the last pregnancy. His uterus ruptured completely. His kidneys and liver were severely damaged and he had tubes in him to relieve the pressure as well as remove the wastes from his body until his body would do it for itself.

Inuyasha had fallen into a coma and with the loss of blood he suffered Akiyoshi did not want to reopen him. It was best to just let his body heal on its own for a little while until they could find a solution to save his life. It would take a lot of time even with his demonic powers. What was left of his reproductive organs to bear children had been removed completely this time not to ever return again. Sesshoumaru performed the spell to keep this from happening again. Inuyasha’s poor body could not do this again and Sesshoumaru would be damned if his precious Inuyasha was to die from something that could be prevented.

“Inuyasha if you can hear me know I won’t ever leave your side. Please wake up my love.”

Sesshoumaru stated softly as he held his mate’s still clawed hand as the heart rate monitor beeped at him showing Inuyasha’s slow, but steady heartbeat. He was alive, but just barely. Inuyasha was just hanging on by a thread.

Akiyoshi considered a possible organ transplant since Inuyasha’ really needed a new kidney to stay alive. One of his kidneys was removed and the other was barely functioning on its own.

Sesshoumaru sat with his beloved in the coma as Megan held Inuyasha’s hand sobbing silently since she did not have the same physical makeup to give one of hers to Inuyasha. Female demon organs were slightly different than males so in demon surgery the donation had to come from a blood relative male. Sesshoumaru would never allow one of his pups to take his place in his duty to his mates. Sesshoumaru was compatible and had taken excellent care of his body. One of his would work for his mate. It was the only way to save all three of them since if Inuyasha died they would all die until he fully recovered leaving them in the castle for possibly longer than his three pups who had been healing quite fast as of late due to their strong blood.
With no one stronger than Sesshoumaru other than Touga and Alistair that had a fully recovered body it would take the powerful men years if not centuries to revive the three mates. Kouga could help, but only he and Shippo were not of mixed blood. It was always best to gain the blood of the most powerful in order to be fully regenerated to life in the same condition as the demon left it in. This was why mating was so important and why Sesshoumaru had chosen strong mates. He did not want to live in his ancestor’s home under their rules. It would drive him insane.

“Dr. Hojo says you might need one of us to donate a kidney so I volunteered. I know you would be throwing things and very angry with me for this. I love you too much though and I can’t let you go. You see I need you and I want you in my life. I can’t imagine my life without you.’
“They didn’t want to let me to, but I want to do this for you Inuyasha. I will do anything to keep you alive and you like me hate being stifled. We would drive our ancestors completely nuts and go nuts ourselves being locked in that castle for what would seem like forever. I want better for us. Just hang on a little longer my love. Don’t give up on me. I won’t ever give up on you. Megan and the others are not of our blood. If I give you mine then I know you will be strong enough to live little brother. You did not give up on anything before so do not give up on me now.”

Sesshoumaru tried not to break down and cry. Still he could not help it since he knew how close he had come to losing his brother who was the man he loved more than any other. Inuyasha was his whole world and he could not lose him. It took him so long to realize how much his mates meant to him especially Inuyasha. As much as Sesshoumaru was in love with Megan, it had been he and Inuyasha for more years than he could count. Inuyasha had been the thorn in his side and the light of his existence in the cold world that had made him lonely until that impish face with the foul mouth changed his whole perspective on life turning it upside down.

Inuyasha had opened his heart and eyes even more then Rin could have. Inuyasha was a constant enigma and to see him in this state almost brought Sesshoumaru to his knees in the gut wrenching pain he felt emotionally as well as physically for his beloved. Sesshoumaru couldn’t sleep or eat.

It took three days to make the final decision. Sesshoumaru watched the monitor day after day not ever leaving Inuyasha’s side. Inuyasha was slowly slipping away and nothing had changed the minds of the doctors into doing the surgery to take Sesshoumaru’s kidney to save his beloved’s life until he lifted them by their throats threatening murder if one of them did not just do it already. He matched the blood type and he was healthy so what the fuck was the big deal? He was an Alpha demon more powerful than his own Father and it would fucking grow back in a hundred years. He had one good one so he was just fine with that idea.

The day Sesshoumaru went ballistic on the doctors and nurses after threatening their lives if Inuyasha died because they did not want to take something from him that he was willing to give was the day they prepped both men for surgery. Sesshoumaru was indeed Inuyasha’s only hope since no other blood was compatible.

Sesshoumaru threw a total fit about any of their children trying to volunteer after they did so busting into the room with Lycos tied up saying he could give something to the cause making the adults laugh, but only had the pup break the ropes chasing the rest of them around with his light whip until they were forced to leave the building due to damages that could be inflicted with their rowdiness. They were all too young anyway with too much life in them to do such a thing.

The pup’s visit had cheered everyone up though and for some reason Lycos had agreed to the foolish thing only because it would lighten the stress in the room although he was back to his stoic controlled self once again shortly afterward with Jimmy stating that Lycos was only doing this because it was the only way his bond mates would allow him to remain a virgin although he was forced to remain in the room with Jimmy and Tsukiya during their ‘moments’ as Lycos stated blushing terribly. He also stated that Jimmy was a terrible influence on the pack without Raiden there to straighten him out.

Megan stayed by her mate’s sides silently praying that they would both be ok until they were taken into the operating room. Megan moved Inuyasha’s hair away from his forehead and kissed his lips as tears freely fell from her eyes hoping that by some miracle they could save his precious life.

Sesshoumaru was being so damn brave and strong. Still he was afraid deep down and Megan knew it. Those golden eyes could not hide his fears and Megan felt him grasp her for dear life before he slipped away into deep slumber as his arms softened around her. Sesshoumaru not having full control over all things and that is why he hated hospitals with a passion. This surgery frightened him since he could not be awake for it and that made him more afraid then actually doing it. Sesshoumaru was used to pain, but not used to being left so vulnerable in the hands of these people he hoped knew what the hell they were doing. He hoped that his kidney would keep his mate alive and even for demons this was strange to have something this bad happen to them without the ability to recover quickly.

Akiyoshi stated that in the past if such things, like losing both kidneys due to circumstances like Inuyasha’s condition, occurred mates would die together and even the most powerful could not ever return if the kidneys did not regenerate. It had happened in the past long ago. There had been no way to save Inuyasha’s kidneys from the damage of such a situation. These days with medical science being what it was they could save many lives including the lives of demons who had not realized that they were not completely invulnerable to death.

Megan held Sesshoumaru tightly in her arms as Inuyasha was first taken away to the operating room. Megan smiled softly to try and ease some of the pain touching Sesshoumaru’s gorgeous face gently. They both decided that they would rather die together as mates then lose each other. If anything went wrong and Inuyasha died they would accept their deaths with grace by his side. Most of Megan’s human family was long dead and they had all lived a full good life. There were no regrets.

Trying to not fall to pieces Megan kissed Sesshoumaru softly as they let each other know that they loved one another before he fell into the deep slumber that would keep him asleep until the surgery was over. Then he too was taken as Megan sat with Jimmy, Tsukiya, Kouga, and Miroku waiting as they all prayed things would go well. Jimmy and Tsukiya held Megan’s hands as they too were very stressed out. Megan seemed to be in a daze and was not really with them during the whole thing. She was white as a ghost and with her beautiful face etched with worry.

It was a long wait and every once in a while Tsukiya had to get up to go to the ladies room to break down in tears. She did not want to upset anyone more than they already were.

Megan was trying to be so damn strong for them all, but holding her small hands and watching her face made them all realize how fragile she was. If she lost her mates she was not going to unmate them and they knew the consequences. All of them tried to talk Sesshoumaru and Megan out of sacrificing themselves if Inuyasha did not make it. Neither would budge an inch on unmating their beloved Inuyasha. It was all or none with the three mates.

Akiyoshi finally came out and took Megan’s hands after wiping the sweat from his brow frowning at her current state. He smiled a little at the others not wanting them to be concerned since Megan had made quite the sacrifice to make sure that they were all ok. Dr. Hojo was pleased that the surgery was a success although he would not let on to anyone what was bothering him so much as he looked at the fragile pale woman who was shedding tears for her mates with a soft smile on her lips glad it was over.

“Things went well for them. Now they are in the recovery room. It will be at least another hour before you can see them. We do need all of you who can to donate blood though. Inuyasha is still very weak and so is Sesshoumaru. Megan you will come with me though. You have donated way too much and did not eat enough to do all you have done. I am putting you in a room where you will be with them when they come back. You are not doing well at all I can tell. You feel their pain as much as they feel yours. It is the way of mates.”

Akiyoshi surprised them all lifting tiny Megan into his arms carrying her away. This was not normal for doctors to do, but they were family and apparently there was more he wanted to talk to her about without the others around. Megan when she tried to stand up almost passed out cold. She felt the knives every time Dr. Hojo cut into her mates and could smell the blood. It made her head spin. Akiyoshi knew he should have had her sedated as well, but was too busy with the surgery to think about it. It was a complicated and delicate surgery he could not make one single mistake doing. It had taken all of Akiyoshi’s concentration to focus on caring for the two demon men.

“Megan you are strong, but you can only handle so much. Are you three trying to kill me? I am only a doctor and your brother. You should have said something to the nurses. Damnit, I should have done something about it! I am a fool to let you suffer this.”

Akiyoshi stated looking at Megan as he laid her down in the hospital bed in shock. She was shaking a bit and still did not cry out one time in pain. It had to be hell to go through.

“Look at me Megan.”

Megan had a light in her eyes and soon passed out cold. When she awoke her feet were above her head on a hospital gurney and Dr. Hojo was sitting on the edge of the bed looking stressed out.

“My mates are they ok?”

Megan stated sitting up a bit too fast as the blood came rushing up giving her one hell of a headache. Akiyoshi helped her lay back down.

“You went into shock Megan and passed out. I want to know something. How were you able to stand the pain of all of these things without screaming? Sesshoumaru has the ice blood in him. He controls pain like he controls everything else. Even if he were in a lot of pain it would take more than anyone could stand before he would cry out. You seem to have that same ability, but he would have cried out Megan. In this surgery had he been awake with no anesthesia he would have been screaming. Why didn’t you say anything?”

Megan pulled the blanket up as her teeth chattered. She had come back from that place she put herself in so that this horrific pain would not affect her.

“I went away in my mind. I disappeared from my own body for a while Akiyoshi like the ancients do since I could not freak out the kids. I did not want them to worry or for our brother wolves to feel afraid for me. I was gone and it was like I was watching you in the room while you worked on them. Alistair and Touga taught me this.”

Akiyoshi nodded and grasped her hand.

“You are strong, but even in doing as you did you felt my knife in you since I know you were not fully out of body. Unless you are to the point near death you will not ever be fully outside yourself. You felt what I did and as your doctor I tell you if you do that to me again I will quit this job for good. I am accountable for my patients and I feel responsible. You are my family so I feel even more so.”

Tears fell down his face. Akiyoshi almost lost three people he cared very much for and as a doctor losing people did happen sometimes. This was different though. This was his family and they meant more to him than anything.

“Kagome and I see you as our family. We see the three of you as our life sometimes and you all give us so much. I once wanted to die by Sesshoumaru’s hand and now that I have my kids all I want to do is live to enjoy them. I want to watch them grow. We, as the second oldest generation of demons all have grandkids, and we are still young. You three are younger then I am. You are all so much younger and now I see how precious life is. You don’t just throw it away. I don’t want to outlive all of you.’
“Once I told Lord Sesshoumaru I would have been pleased to have him be my lover, but fact is I am pleased to be his brother instead since that means more to me. You are my sister and Inuyasha my little brother now. I can’t ignore that.’
“You are a natural healer and that is very rare in this family. I want to nurture that part of you and help you so that the few doctors like me that work with demons are not alone to do these miracles. I don’t want to lose the men you love and I can’t lose you. To be honest I would rather die than lose you. You have become special to me Megan.’
“Your mates will be here soon sweetheart. Don’t worry about them they both are doing very well. I am hoping today Inuyasha will be opening those pretty golden eyes for us again. I miss those looks of pure hate when he is mad at me for poking him while he is sore. It is my job and I don’t want to cause him pain. I still like the curses since it is much better than the silence.”

Akiyoshi Hojo kissed Megan’s cheek and then walked out of the room. He felt better, but it did not stop what his heart felt for the tiny woman. Megan was beautiful and so young. She made him feel young again and he had very strong feelings for her he could not deny. As much as he loved Kagome he envied the relationship Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha had with Megan. Megan would give up her whole world for the two men. Kagome said she would, but when it came down to the truth of all things Kagome wanted to live. She wanted to remain alive and didn’t need anyone to save her. Megan needed her men to save her from her own stubborn ways and it made Akiyoshi adore her.

In all logic Akiyoshi figured he should have been long dead by now and in many ways had wanted to be. He had lived a very long life and if he was going to live longer he wanted more than the relationship he had. He never strayed outside of his marriage with Kagome, but Megan made him want to. Akiyoshi would beg to have her one night to himself and that was why he made Ayame her doctor. He could not trust himself to keep things professional with Megan. It was too hard to not fall in love with the woman. Kagome already had and Akiyoshi being the normally more conservative traditional type didn’t want to argue with her about things that would not happen. Megan loved her mates and they were not going to be sharing anymore. Not after what happened with Jimmy and Tsukiya. That had almost torn their family apart.

Akiyoshi felt sad about the fact the three young demon mates were done with their wild explorations outside of their mating, but he respected it too. It was time to perhaps take a long vacation and get away with Kagome for a while. Then maybe he could put his head on straight again before he did something really stupid like fall in love with a creature he had no business falling in love with.
