The New Girl

“GET UP BITCHES WE HAVE TO GET BACK TODAY!!!” Kagome wasn’t being mean to us, but rather kidding around. The past two weeks were kinda like that. She got nicer and we got more…..intimate. I crawled out of bed and pulled on jeans and a white turtle neck sweater. It had snowed two days ago and the cold was creeping in more and more each day.

InuYasha finally pulled himself out of bed, my white flannel sheet pulled around his waist for a bit of modesty, thought I wasn’t sure why. I knew what his body looked like naked better then my own. His tan skin contrasted beautifully with the sheet and I sighed blissfully. His hair was a mess, stray strands sticking up at odd intervals. He yawned, exposing his fangs and take stiff steps towards me, dropping the sheet and stretching his arms above his head. He looked SO hot and SO cute all at the same time.

“Good morning sleepy head, ready to go back?” I teased as I started throwing clothes onto my bed to pack. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my neck, taking in a deep breath.

“No, I wish Naraku would just explode or something so we could get on with life and we could spend more weeks like this.” I spun out of his grasp and threw him his clean Fire Rat robes and pants. He pulled them on once he located his inner robe in the mess of sheets. My hanyou had obliterated my neatly made bed and after the third day of trying to get InuYasha to not destroy it in his sleep I gave up.

“To bad! So sad! I for one am glad to be going back, I meant to spend only a few days and it turned into a two week pre-honeymoon. Kagome had been great about popping back and forth to keep us updated to apparently Naraku knows I’m not there and so he’s just rebuilding and waiting for me.” InuYasha just huffed and tied his sword to his side, a low growl escaping his lips.

“Pre-honeymoon? You two are hilarious! You hardly leave this room for the two weeks you’re here and now InuYasha’s the one who doesn’t want to go back?!?! I thought I’d never see that happen! What have you done to him Eriko?” Kagome walked in and sat on my bed next to where I was shoving things in my bag. We both laughed and InuYasha just walked into our living room.

“I’m waiting…..” InuYasha tried to be subtle and nice but we knew he was getting antsy to get back into action.

“I’ve been waiting all day so just sit.” Kagome enjoyed using that word without the added responsibility. “Two weeks girl, who knew you could tame the hanyou? Let alone make him fall so hard for you he’d actually not want to return to his era. It’s a Christmas miracle! I’ll say that much.” Kagome was much more pleasant after he initial rush of hormones. She had told her family and they were really excited for her, though also nervous because Naraku was still undefeated.
“Can we go or are you two just gonna gab the day away?” I loved that he had started talking like me after only a short time together.

“Here take my bag I’ll grab our food supplies. YES! I am getting more ramen for you pig don’t ask me again.” We got enough stuff you think? Four bags of food, my old military C bag, Kagomes magic yellow back pack. Are we moving or what?” I laughed as I walked down the stairs behind InuYasha.

“Well, we are gonna be there longer this time.” InuYasha said quietly.

“How long? Three weeks? Because I am gonna need more underwear.” I still found this entire situation funny.

“Until we kill him.” Kagome was dead pan, unwavering but the comment made me stop dead in my tracks.

“WHAT?! What about Christmas? New Years? Your family! MY family?!” InuYasha turned and picked me up carrying me to the well house.

“We can celebrate in my era, like Kagome did a few times, but I don’t think it’ll take us to long. He’ll be coming after you full force. By new years either I’ll be dead or he will.” He kissed me quickly before dropping me over the edge of the well.

~ 3rd Person POV ~

“You really think she is Midoriko? The real deal?” Kagome asked before taking a seat on the lip of the well.

“Yea, you know. I really do.” InuYasha smirked and leaped into the well followed shortly by Kagome.

~ Eriko POV ~

As soon as I landed softly in the well I shivered, it was just as cold in this ear and from the white sticking to my boots it was snowing as well. I was quickly joined my InuYasha and Kagome.

“KOUGA! Get your skinny wolf ass down here and help your mate!” InuYasha yelled as I climbed onto his back and we bounded out of the well across a field of white into the village. I brushed the snow off my shoulders only to be recoated when InuYasha shook his snow all over me and the rest of our group. Songo was HUGE and Miroku was casting her looks of love all night as we talked and caught up.

“It’s late and if we expect to make good time tomorrow we should get to bed.” Miroku escorted a very unbalanced Songo into their bedroom, Shippo followed.

“Shippo?” I was wondering why he didn’t insist on sleeping with Kagome or myself.

“Songo is too big for them to do anything anymore; I figured it would be the safest place from me.” He laughed and bounded after the slayer and monk. I shrugged and looked to InuYasha, I hadn’t thought about our own sleeping arrangement. I knew Kagome and Kouga had a cave not far (Wolves….go figure) but from what I had seen we could either sleep in Kaedes hut or here.

“Where are we going to sleep?” I asked quietly, not wanting to awake anyone. InuYasha motioned me outside ‘Not the god tree….he’s gotta be kidding me!’ He scooped me up into his arms and leapt into the woods.

“You can’t hold this against me, I have a place, it’s not finished but it’s covered. It was going to be my wedding present to Kagome.” He was almost whispering when he finished, I just hugged him tighter as the cool wind whipped past us. We landed before a cold dark hut. It was within sight of the village but far enough away to be private. I followed InuYasha into the hut and realized why it was ‘incomplete’.

The space was enormous. I could see where he had marked areas for rooms, four total, which meant there were going to be a lot of people living here eventually. I sighed when I realized the rooms were for children InuYasha hoped to have. It had a fire pit and I saw some logs in the corner. This is where InuYasha would stay after Kagome, alone.

“I’ll start a fire and then get some water; I am SO in the mood for some ramen.” InuYasha made quick work of the first and took my kettle and disappeared into the night. I shivered as close to the fire as I could get, it was still new and not producing much heat. I reached for my sleeping bag and climbed inside.
“Eriko, come here, NOW.” InuYasha was just outside the door, whispering harshly. I grabbed my bow and arrows and slipped outside into the darkness.

“What?” I was looking around sending my miko powers out slightly to scan the area, nothing. Suddenly InuYasha grabbed me, hugging me to him. He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine in a heated kiss.

“I love you.” Was all he said before carrying me into the hut, he was so romantic sometimes!

“I love you too.” I kissed him quickly as a shiver overtook my body. He added more wood to the fire before snuggling down into my sleeping, the ramen forgotten for now. I drifted into dream land feeling secure and safe with my hanyou.

I awoke when InuYasha jumped out of bed. He drew Tessaiga and left the hut, I was left stunned and groggy. I got up and grabbed my bow and quiver quickly following after InuYasha. I crept along the path his aura took, going slowly and scanning my surroundings. Though I quickly picked up my pace when I heard InuYasha unleash the wind scar.

“YOU DAMN WOLF! HOW DARE YOU!” I ran into a clearing where InuYasha and Kouga were facing off. Both demons growling, eyes flashing red as they circled each other, Kagome was on the far side looking terrified. I tired to asses the situation and figure out what the boys were fighting over. Just as they were about to collide again I fired an arrow between them, purifying their demon energy for a moment.

“What the hell Eriko?!” InuYasha looked hurt but more irritated his attacked was interrupted.

“Get your bitch under control; you don’t see Kagome out here getting in our way. She knows her place” Kouga instantly regretted his choice of words.

“EXCUSE ME?!? How about you learn your place and GO BACK TO THE CAVE AND LEAVE THEM ALONE LIKE I TOLD YOU EARILER!” Kagome chased the wolf into the wood, his tail between his legs, his ear drooping in defeat.

“What happened? InuYasha, sit boy.” I whispered sit so he would only float to the ground. I sat before him waiting for my answer.

“Kouga sat starting crap again when I went to the river.” InuYasha was vague hoping to get me off his back quickly.

“Kouga did start it this time. Wanting to irritate him.” Kagome sat next to me but didn’t look at InuYasha.

“What was he doing? I don’t get it. I never heard a thing!” I looked to both of them but neither looked like they were going to offer up the information.

“InuYasha, there will be a very harsh s-i-t in your future if you don’t start offering up information.” He turned away from me, sighing hard.

“Kouga is a wolf, it is not uncommon for a Alpha male to take two mates so he may have the most offspring.” Kagome offered to get the ball rolling.

“What does that have to do with us?” I could not wrap my head around this situation, what could Kouga have said or done to get InuYasha so worked up so quickly.

“I knew he was outside, so I tried dealing with him without waking you. He was taunting me to come out and fight ‘for old times sake’. Then he started talking about how he would take you away from me just like he’d taken Kagome. How you’d be having his children before you ever had mine.” He wouldn’t look at me or Kagome, he just started into the distance.

“Kagome, I trust you’ll be taking care of this. InuYasha I am tired, can we go back to bed?” I touched his shoulder but he shrugged me off and stood. Kagome left a moment later leaving us alone.

“What’s wrong? What Kouga said? You think I would or could leave you? Please don’t worry, I will never leave you, ever. I swear. Please can we go back to bed?” I stood in time to see a flash come from the village and women screaming. InuYashas ears perked up and pulled me onto his back.

“KOUGA! KAGOME! THE VILLAGE!” Was all he could say before bounding away toward the commotion.

“It’s Naraku, I can feel the jewel he must be here for Kougas shards.” Kouga and Kagome caught up with us quickly. “Kagome there’s only one jewel. Wouldn’t Kohaku be with Naraku?”

“He was traveling with Kikyou so she could keep his shard pure, but after she died he continued on his own. He wants to kill Naraku, but I can’t imagine why he isn’t here.” When she finished we came upon a horrible site. The village was on fire, each hut blazing into oblivion. Everyone was running our direction, away from Naraku, his stupid Saimyōshō buzzing around.

“Kohaku! KOHAKU!” Songo’s voice resounded across the valley. Her body draped of her brother, Miroku standing at the ready with his staff in hand.

“MIROKU! GET SONGO OUT OF HERE NOW!” InuYasha shouted as he redrew his sword. The monk turned and gathered his wife into his arms, her sobs the only sound in my ears. Kirara transformed and took the demon slayer to safer ground, leaving the monk behind to help in the fight.

Kouga, Kagome, Miroku, InuYasha, and even Shippo turned to face the dark hanyou, steely resolve shown on everyone’s face.

“NARAKU! You better prepare yourself. I’ll be sending you to Kikyou shortly.” The Dragon Scaled Tetsusaiga pulsing in his hands. Kouga brought out Goraishi flexing the mythical weapon of the wolves, a low growl escaping both my hanyou and the wolf. Kagome and I took Shippo a safe distance and prepared ourselves for the final battle.

“All I require now are the shards in your legs wolf. I can’t imagine you’ll put up much of a fight, however you InuYasha may be more of a challenge with that sword of yours.” Naraku’s barrier glowed red for a moment before he sent out the signature attack. Tentacles launched themselves toward the boys but they dodged them easily, or so we thought. Suddenly Kouga hit the ground hard, his legs bleeding.

“How did we do that? How did we miss it?! KOUGA!” Kagome started in the direction of her mate.

“KAGOME STAY THERE! I’M FINE! Stupid hanyou did do quick as much damage as he might think.” Kouga leapt up and began running toward Naraku, slashing tentacles on his way.

“NARAKU!! Your fight is with me! Leave Kouga out of it. Get lost wolf boy!” InuYasha’s muscles tensed and rippled with anger. My heart pounding my ears I knew I had to be with him, I had to help. I stood from our hiding spot, reaching for my bow and arrows.

“Eriko what are you doing?! Naraku is dangerous! Let InuYasha finish him off.” Shippo’s voice was quivering just as much as Kagomes body, both holding the other, almost to the brink of tears.

“I’ll be the one to finish him. InuYasha can’t do it alone.” I ran, straight toward InuYasha and Naraku, both took notice but only my hanyou reacted.

“ERIKO! GO AWAY!! DON’T GET CLOSE TO HIM HE’S AFTER YOU AS WELL!!! PLEASE!” InuYasha was begging with me across the field.

“I WILL NOT LET YOU DIE!” I kept running, ignoring the attacks from Naraku and dodging what I could. Kouga was running ahead of me but closer to Naraku. His attacks paved my way, until Byakuya intercepted me.

“Naraku wishes you to be at his side. Reuniting the souls will be easier if they are close to one another.” He moved toward me only to be delayed my an…arrow?

“ERIKO GET INUYASHA!!” Kagome was standing, bow having recently been fired. InuYasha leapt toward me but not before Byakuya sent a strange white flower toward me. The scent was intoxicating and I couldn’t help but inhale deeply.

“ERIKO! NO PLEASE!!!” InuYasha was holding me now, his face foggy and voice far away. ‘I was drugged’ I struggled to hold on to reality but the flowers hold was to strong and I soon slipped into the blackness of unconsciousness.
