Chapter Four

Kagome and Keiko sat down at the table watching the guys discuss their futures. Kagome wondered why they felt like they had to leave them out. It had everything to do with Keiko and her after all. If the guys kept that up then she was going to snap. She looked over at Yusuke and caught him looking in her direction. She gave him a quick smile and looked back at her friend. She noticed that Keiko was looking at Yomi. Had they really kissed? Yuck!


“Um hello! Do you guys mind not talking about us like we aren’t sitting right here. We can hear everything that you say. How about including us in this?” Kagome said as she slammed her fist down on the table. Just because she was a human girl didn’t give them the right to ignore her and Keiko for that matter.


“Kagome is right. They are the most important parts of this mission. We should not ignore them. They have every right to know what is going on.” Kurama said. He looked at Keiko and noticed that she was looking at Yomi still. Had their training session gone that bad? Her next one was with him ,and he was going to take some of that time to finally tell her how he felt. Kagome’s was with Hiei, he knew that his friend wanted the girl.


“Fine then. Let me start by saying that both of you girls seriously need to work on your training very hard. And to clear the record I’m not a horse demon.” Yomi stated. Both girls looked at each other in amazement. Had he really heard them talking about his penis size? Shit!


“Hey that conversation was for our ears only. You keep your six out of them from now on.” Keiko shouted. She was so embarrassed, he had heard everything that she had told Kagome. She should have said that he didn’t have enough to break a cheerio.


They went back to talking about the jewel and trying to find Naraku and Sayko. If they didn’t find them soon Hiei was going to go look for them. The girls finished their lunch and decided to go for a walk before their next lessons. They went back to the gardens and found a bench to sit on. “Kagome can I ask you a personal question?” Keiko said while she looked down at her hands.


“Sure but just remember that Mr. Horsedick can hear us. But hey I’ve got nothing to be ashamed of so ask away.”


“Well, I told you that I was a virgin. Are you?” she looked at her friend and saw the shock in her eyes.


“Yeah. I guess it is kind of bad . Most girls now a days lose their virginity by the time they are sixteen. Here I am eighteen and still haven’t found the right guy. Now it’s your turn. Why didn’t you and Yusuke .... you know?” Kagome felt like she had to know.


“Yusuke and I never made it that far. We kissed a few times but that was it. We were never in love with each other. I want my first time to be with the guy I love for real. But hey both of us are eighteen and still virgins. You kissed Yusuke and I kissed Yomi. Maybe our luck is about to change when it comes to men.”


Kagome thought about the kiss she had shared with Hiei then. He also made her stomach feel like it was on fire. Could two guys make her feel like that at the same time? She thought she had man trouble when she believe that she loved Inuyasha and he loved Kiyko. This was totally different. The girls got up and quietly walked to the other two dojos.


Hiei was standing inside waiting for the miko. He was going to show her that he would have her. He smelled her on Yusuke and it infuriated him. He watched as she walked in and strode towards him. He took in her scent. She had her hair up in a ponytail and had on more sweats. She was beautiful.


Kagome walked towards him and took her stance. She knew that this session wasn’t going to be as much fun as the one she had with Yusuke. She studied her opponent and waved her hand for him to make his move. “ Bring it on butt plug.” She was looking right at him and then the next thing she new was that he was behind her. “ Hey no fair you move too fast.” She took a back swing at him only to feel nothing but air. She looked around the room and couldn’t find him anywhere.


“You move too slow girl.” She looked up to see him standing on the second floor balcony. Hiei knew that the girl wouldn’t be able to keep up with this movements\ and that was one of the things that he was going to teach both girls. The other was the use of a weapon. He drew out his sword and leapt at the girl. She dodged the blade just in time.


“Okay now you are really starting to piss me off.” She walked over to a wall and grabbed a sword that was hanging on a hook. She knew that she had no idea how to use it ,but she wasn’t going to be defenseless against him. She had just become pretty good with the bow when she had left Inuyasha. She studied the weight of the sword and swung it a few times. ‘I can do this. How hard can it be?’ She lifted it up and swung at the fire apparition.


Hiei hit her sword with his and it went flying out of her hands and landed into the stomach of one of the demons standing along a wall. Kagome watched as the lower demon feel to the ground. Hiei walked over and pulled the sword from the now exposed belly. He walked over to her and stretched out his hand with the sword. Kagome looked in his eyes and tried to read him. There was no emotion in his eyes.


“I will teach you how to use this. I expect you to shut up and listen. I will not go easy on you just because you are some poor excuse for a miko. And after I have taught you everything I expect to have you.” Hiei dropped the sword to the floor and walked a few steps back. He had seen the anger building on the girl’s face. She could use that anger.


“Hey buddy! What do I have ‘For Lease’ written on my forehead? I’m not just some piece of property that you one day decide that you want.” What was up with these guys? She had wanted to be with Inuyasha and he hadn’t wanted her. After she had returned home she gave up on guys for a while. Now she had two guys that acted like she was a prime piece of rawhide.


“Pick up the sword. Hold it with both hands but not too tight of a grip. If you hold it too tight then anyone can dislodge it like I have done. You need to relax your hands. Let the sword become part of you.” He watched as she held the sword as he instructed. He swung his at her and this time she was able to block his blow. “Very good. Of course I am moving very slow so that I don’t slice that pretty little head off. Continue to watch my moves. Keep your feet apart when you stand.”


Kagome did everything that he said. She sure as hell didn’t want him to slice her up. She wished that she had tried to use Tetsusgia when she had been with Inuyasha. Before now the thought had never crossed her mind. Of course up until now she had thought that Naraku was dead and Inuyasha was alive. She lowered her head to hide the hurt that she was feeling.


“You have to concentrate. No tears are going to help keep you alive.” Hiei had smelled the tears that were on the girl’s face. She had lowered her head but that didn’t help. He knew that she was thinking of that stupid hanyou. He did not want to see the girl hurting. He would kill this Naraku for causing this girl pain. Wait, what the hell was he thinking? Why did he care if she had gotten hurt in the past?


Kagome looked up and wiped the tear that was making its way down to her chin. She stood with her legs apart and raised the sword. She watched as he swung his. She met every blow that he tried to deliver. Sometimes he moved so quick she couldn’t see him but she was getting better at keeping him in sight. They continued to sword fight for an hour. All that could be heard was the clanking of sword hitting sword. Hiei noticed that the girl learned very fast. She was definitely worthy of him.


Keiko was in the next dojo over and was looking at the fox demon. She had never said too much to Kurama. She knew that he was one of Yusuke’s best friends and that he was a different kind of fighter than the others. She knew that he would always use some kind of plant in his attacks. So what in the hell was he going to teach her Gardening one-o-one? She walked up to him and noticed that he was smiling.


Kurama knew that now was his chance to tell the girl what he had felt for so long. He had no idea how she would react but he didn’t care. He walked up to her and wiped a hair that was about to go into her eye. She flinched at the movement but he ignored it. She would get used to him touching her. He turned his back to her and started to walk away. “ Before we get started there is something that I must say. This may come as a shock to you, but I can not deny it anymore.” He turned to look at her. “ Since the first time that I saw you I have loved you. I thought about you day and night. You were all I could think about. It was very hard for me whenever it came time to fight. But then I would realize that if I didn’t give it my all that I would never see your face again. I never said anything because you were with Yusuke and his friendship means a lot to me. Now that you two are no longer together I want you to know that I want you.”


Keiko gasped at his words. She had no idea. She had always pictured him being with someone strong like Shizuru. And then there was the fact that Yomi had kissed her. She felt the room start to spin and started to fall. She felt strong arms catch her. She looked up and into the most beautiful emerald green eyes that she had ever seen. He lowered his lips to hers. They were soft to the touch. This kiss wasn’t as fierce as Yomi’s had been. It had more passion in it. She felt his tongue brush across her lower lip and she parted them to give him full access. He surprisingly tasted sweet. She could get lost in a kiss like this. She closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck. She was enjoying the kiss and suddenly she had a flash of Yomi in her mind. She broke the kiss and looked at him. He was smiling down at her.


“I’m not asking anything of you now Keiko. I had to tell you how I felt. I couldn’t let it eat at me any longer. I will leave it up to you to decide if you want to be with me. I have waited this long and I will wait forever for you.” He helped her get up and held on to her hand. Before he let go he lifted it up to his mouth and gave a gentle kiss to her palm. He took a few steps back and continued to look at her. “ Now, I think that we should get on with the lesson. My job is to teach you how to figure out your opponent. Also, I know that you and Kagome do have some power due to the Shikon no Tama being inside you both. Hiei told me that he seen the girl use it since being here. Now let me see what you can do.”


Keiko chewed on her lower lip. She hadn’t perfected the power yet. Genkai was helping her when they had come for her. She hadn’t had a chance to finish controlling it. “ I can’t. I hadn’t finished with Genkai’s training. I can’t control it yet. I might use it on you by accident.” She balled her fist up and placed them behind her back.


“I’m willing to take that chance. You don’t have nearly as much power as Kagome. She has had that power far longer than you. Please show me what you can do?” Kurama stood back as the girl held one of her hands out. Her palm was facing up and he could she that she was concentrating very hard. After about a minute a pink flame came out of her palm. He saw that she relaxed a little once it was there. “ Good now do something with it. If you don’t want to aim at me then aim at one standing next to the wall. I seriously doubt that Yomi would mind if you used them for target practice.”


Keiko slowly turned and focused on an ugly demon standing in the corner. She noticed that all eight of his eyes were wide in fear. She felt good knowing that she could cause that reaction in them. She concentrated even harder on the demon and her power. The pink flame left her hand and raced towards the demon. It fell short of its target and vanished with a soft whoosh. Keiko stomped her foot in anger. “Why couldn’t I do it? I was so close.”


“ You have to concentrate harder on hitting your target. See your energy hitting the target. Focus all the energy on hitting him.” Kurama watched as the girl held out her hand again. He saw the pink flame arise and flew from her hand. This time it hit the same demon in his arm. There was a tiny flash of pink light and Keiko noticed that the demons arm lay on the floor. She watched the blood splatter on the floor and the wall as well. “ That was good. Of course you will need lots more training if you want to be as strong as Kagome. Now we are going to continue to work on that and you have to learn to observe your opponent. Now you have seen me fight but you still don’t know much about me. I want you to observe the moves that I make and at the same time I want you to try and improve your power.”


Keiko listened to everything that the fox demon had to say. They spent the next two hours fighting and Keiko had once came close to hitting Kurama with one of her pink balls. Keiko walked out of the dojo feeling proud of what she had accomplished.

After she had returned to her room and gotten a hot shower she found herself walking through the castle. She had some serious thinking to do. One guy had kissed her and another had told her that he loved her. Her head was so cloudy that she hadn’t realized that she had bumped into Yusuke. She looked up at ahim and then looked around to where she was. She was back out in the garden. “ Yusuke? I’m so sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going.”


“I noticed. Got something on your mind? Want a friendly ear?” Yusuke grabbed her arm and led her to a bench in the middle of the garden. He took a seat next to her and placed his hand on hers. He could see that she was troubled. “ So what’s eating ya?”


Keiko knew that Yusuke was still her best friend despite everything that had happened between them. Could she tell him everything that had just happened to her? She looked up at him and saw him smile. “ Oh Yusuke I’m so confused. Two years ago when you ended it with me, I was so ready to give up on men all together. Then once I realized that you were right about you and I; I just didn’t think about being with anyone. I focused all my life on training and doing what was necessary of me. Then I come here and everything gets so confusing. I mean it was weird that Yomi had kissed me but then earlier today Kurama confessed that he loved me.”


“Whoa, hold on there one minute. Yomi kissed you? When the hell did that happen?” Yusuke was amazed but a little angry too. He knew that he didn’t love Keiko but he was sure if he was ready to see her with anybody else. But he knew that it would be unfair to her if he moved on and said that she couldn’t. “And Kurama said that he loved you?”


“Uh- huh. This afternoon at training. He said that he has loved me since he first saw me. That he had never let his feeling known because you and I were together. He said that he would never risk losing you as a friend. And Yomi kissed me earlier today when I trained with him. It was just a kiss. But it felt so different than when I had kissed you. The same thing when Kurama had kissed me.”


“Okay, that doesn’t say too much for me then. Whoa! Kurama kissed you too? You little tramp.” he said and nudged her arm. He seen that she smiled at her remark. It was good to see her smile again. He had missed her over those two years that he had been gone. He knew that it would be easy for her to find someone.


“Hey like you got room to talk. Kissing Kagome while training. She told me everything. And from what she said you knocked her socks off.” Keiko didn’t mind that he had kissed the girl. She was glad that Yusuke was moving on. She watched as he actually blushed.


“Really? She said that I knocked her socks off? Man I’m good. So what about you? How do you feel about either guys?” Yusuke wanted to help her. He knew Kurama was a good guy. Kurama loved his human mother more than life itself and would never let anything happen to her. And if he loved Keiko that much than he could sleep easier knowing that Kurama was there for her. Now Yomi, he just couldn’t see that dude being interested in a human girl. He just didn’t see the type to have a companion. Hell the dude was probably still a virgin.


“I don’t know. That is why I am looking to you for advice. I mean both guys made my heart flutter and my legs felt like spaghetti. I feel a strong attraction for both. So how do I choose? Plus, I don’t really know if Yomi is really interested in me. He probably just kissed me to prove a point. I have no idea what I’m going to do.” She leaned her head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around her and comforted her. He couldn’t tell her what to do with her life.


“Listen, I guess the only advice I can offer is take your time. Take the time to see what each guy makes you feel. I know that Kurama is a good guy. He would treat you like an angel. I can’t say too much about Yomi. Spend some time with both and see what happens. Just remember that I am always here for you if you need someone to talk too. And I promise that if either guy hurts you they will have to answer to me.” Yusuke got up and kissed her on the top of her head. He turned and walked away. She still that there on the bench watching him walk away.


The night had begun to fall when she finally got up to head back in. She would take his advice. She had to know more about the guys. She walked back to her room and change for bed. She didn’t go down to dinner because her appetite was not there with all that ran through her mind. She crawled into her large bed and closed her eyes. Before she drifted off to sleep those green eyes was the last image that she saw.
