Nursing and Dealing
Chapter Three
Kagome walked down the long street, her hand twitched on her purse. Her day just wasn't going well it would seem. She had woken up once again with her eyes swollen. A migraine had accompanied her aching face. Then her mother had come in stating that she needed her daughter to walk into town and fetch some medicine from the pharmacy. Souta was in bed with a bad case of the flu, the little twerp.
So she had gotten up, got dressed and tripped over Bouyo on the way down the stairs. The fat cat didn't even move as she landed in a heap at the bottom. On the way to town her thoughts had once again returned to the past. She missed her friends and Inuyasha. Were they okay? Had Inuyasha kept his promise to Kikyo? Too many questions left unanswered for her. At least she didn't cry in public this time around.
She'd been given the wrong perscription and had to go back a second time. Now she was walking back and trouble had found her it seemed. A few teenage boys, around her age maybe; were following her. She'd first noticed them as she rounded the last corner. They were definitely following her for some reason. Hopefully not to rob her, like she had money. Wait maybe she did want to be robbed, the only other option left her feeling sick. She'd wait and see what happened when she took the next turn.
She bumped into a boy wearing green as she took the corner, "Sorry."
"No problem."
Her head snapped around, they were still coming. Deciding to find out without a doubt, she took off running. She heard one of them yell, "Get her." She wasn't sure where to go, she couldn't lead them to her home. 'Great, don't I ever get a break?' She glanced behind her, only two were giving chase. Where were the other two? She took the next corner, a cramp formed in her side. Thats what she got for become a slacker after returning from the past. They were shoving people out the way as they gained on her.
She rounded the next corner and smacked into a hard chest. "Owie."
"Oh, sorry. Are you okay pretty girl?"
She looked up to see a tall, well built but plain looking guy with orange hair. He extended a hand to help her up, she took it. Her heart stopped when the two guys stopped behind her and the other two appeared in front of her. Was this guy with them also?
"What's going on here?" Kuwabara was trying to catch up to Yurameshi and Kurama, they'd left him while he'd been admiring a kitten in the local pet shop. He could sense the girl's fear. "These guys bothering you?"
"I suggest you keep walking ugly." The tallest of the four spoke, he pulled out a knife. "We just want to play with her. Come here girlie, I got something I want to stick in you."
Kagome gasped, she hoped he meant the knife. What now? This guy was just standing there looking ready for a fight. She couldn't ask him to fight four armed people for her. His hands landed on her shoulders, he spoke down to her. "I'll take care of them."
"What's going on Kuwabara?" Yusuke called from behind the other two. He was sure he knew what was going on. Him and Kurama had seen the four guys take off after the girl. So they had followed, he wasn't suprised to see his best friend involved. He was a sucker for a damsel in distress.
"I think these punks need to be taught a lesson. Teach them it's not nice to pick on helpless girls."
Kagome felt her cheeks flush, what had he just called her? Just because she'd ran it wasn't because she was helpless. She'd been trying to avoid the situation all together. Her anger got the best of her, damnit she didn't need to be saved.
The four men must have gotten tired of waiting, one of them threw his knife aiming for the orange haired guy. He was fast for a human but Kagome sensed it. She flipped her hand out, the metal hit the barrier and landed on the ground with a clutter.
"That was a neat trick." Yusuke looked at the girl, she looked pissed. Two of the men charged him, he slugged one in his face. He sensed Kurama land in front of the other. Kuwabara took the one that charged him.
Kagome gasped as it all happened to fast, they were attacking the men that had stepped up to aide her. The leader ran for her, good she needed to relieve some pent up emotions. He slashed at her with the knife going for her face. She brought her foot up to land in his groin. Asshole seemed to forget he was fighting a female, she had an advantage. He landed on his knees dropping the knife. She brought her foot up to meet his face, the sound of his nose breaking was heard.
The sound of sirens was heard in the distance, time to get out of here. She gave a quick nod to the tall orange haired guy and took off running. She heard one of them yelling at her to come back. Like hell she would, brawling in public wasn't something she got off on. She didn't stop until she was up the shrine steps.
Sango suddenly wished she hadn't sent Shippo to the next village with Kirara. They were running low on ointment and the miko there had some. There was enough to apply on his wounds one more time. He was laying down as she sat down next to him to check his wounds once more. It had been a week since she'd found him, a week of nothing but stress for her.
He was improving but not soon enough for her. The only wounds left were the ones on his side and leg, the severest. They were both closed. She was going to suggest he try walking tomorrow. Shippo should be back soon, night was about to fall. She placed a large piece of cloth over his private area. "You should be fine as long as you don't reopen these."
He continued to glare at her as she wiped the old ointment off, trying to keep her hands far away from anything. She took the last of the cream out the jar and began to apply it to his thigh. She heard his intake of breath but ignored him. Her head turned to look for the new bandage.
She turned back around to find him sitting up, his golden eyes glaring at her. Her breath caught when he grabbed her hand. He pulled her towards him, she practically fell in his lap. She meant to yell and ask what his problem was. His mouth covered hers.
Sango couldn't move, her whole body seemed to go into shock. Her eyes closed as he forced her mouth to open. His tongue dipped inside causing a chill to go down her spine. He suddenly became demanding, his hand grabbed the back of her hair. It caused excitement to spark in her veins. She shyly brought her tongue up to meet his.
He suddenly broke away from her and pushed her away. She gasped in suprise at the harsh gesture. He looked angry, angry with her. She got to her feet and walked outside.
Sango sat outside until Shippo returned for the night. "Glad you are back. Can you check on him for me and come back out."
"Okay." He ran inside and came back out a few minutes later. "He's sleeping. What's wrong?"
"I'm going to go see Miroku. I'll be back by morning. There is food in the pot if you both get hungry." She called Kirara, the neko came running out. "Let's go girl." Sango grabbed her weapons, she had the need to see her husband.
As they flew to the other village she tried to calm her nerves. Why had he kissed her? Why did she let him? She had been enjoying it immensely until he had shoved her away. Miroku's kiss hand never left her shaken like that. They were pleasant but nothing like that. She'd felt like every nerve in her body was alive. She'd also felt a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach. He had to leave soon, there was no other way around it. She would go crazy if he didn't. His presence was doing strange things to her nerves.
Two hours later Kirara landed in the village where she'd left the hoshi. Kirara took on her smaller form and ran off. Sango followed knowing she was going straight to where the hoshi was. Her feet took her across the small village, it looked almost done. Kirara stopped outside a door and meowed softly.
Sango picked her up assuming Miroku was sleeping inside. She couldn't wait to see him again, she had missed him. She slid the door open and almost dropped the neko. Her eyes spotted the empty saki bottles first and then the two figures passed out under a blanket. Miroku's robe was balled up near the door, his chest spoke of not having anything else on. The tart had her head resting on his chest with an arm around his waist.
Anger filled her at the scene, she put Kirara down telling her to wait outside. She walked inside and kicked him soundly in the side. He jerked up, grabbing his head instead of his side. The girl woke up also, screeching. Her eyes got wide at seeing the pissed taijiya standing over them.
Miroku wasn't sure what had woken him, a sharp pain in the leg made him glance up. "Sango?" Where was he? He heard the other girl start crying. He glanced over, his eyes widened, she was naked. So was he, what had happened? Then he knew, he'd gotten drunk and slept with the village elder's daughter. To make matters worse Sango had chose tonight to come check on him. "Sango, it's not what you think."
"You have no idea what I think." She kicked him again in the head, he cursed at the pain. "Don't come back." She stormed outside and jumped on Kirara who was waiting for her. She took off into the air, it was as if the cat knew what was going on. Miroku was heard yelling in the distance.
