Chapter 3: Reunited Only To Remain Separated

The sun had steadily traveled across the sky as the afternoon quickly transformed into evening. “No Sesshomaru, wait!” Sesshomaru stopped and turned back to look at Kagome. Kagome turned to Inuyasha and even though her voice had lowered to a whisper the demon lord could hear heearlearly. “Inuyasha please don’t just cast Sesshomaru out. He’s your brother and he helped me to find this place.”

“Why do you want him to stay here Kagome? Do you care about him?”

“Inuyasha I don’t think that he dees tes to be thrown out at night, just let him stay for tonight please?”

“Fine, but just for tonight!” Kagome grinned at Inuyasha and padded over to where Sesshomaru stood.

“Yes, there’s some fish that can be grilled over the fire pit.” Kagome went to get the fish but Sesshomaru grabbed it for her and placed it over the fire pit to start cooking. Inuyasha watched the display with a frown on his face. It was really starting to get under his skin the way that Sesshomaru was being so nice to Kagome. And the way that she was responding was just adding fuel to the fire. ‘What the fuck is with Sesshomaru acting so nice to Kagome? She’s my wench and he can’t have her! Why the fuck is Kagome being nice to Sesshomaru? I swear I’ll fucking kill him if he tries to take her from me!’

The three ate dinner silently and then cleaned up quickly after. Kagome walked out onto the terrace to look out into the garden. The violet sky was lit up by hundreds of stars that glistened like diamonds in the moonlight. Sesshomaru walked out onto the terrace joining Kagome. She smiled at him but he noticed sad sadness in her eyes that he wasn’t Inuyasha instead. “Thank you for dinner Kagome.”

“You’re welcome. It’s a beautiful night isn’t it?”

“Yes it is. Why are you so sad Kagome?”

“I….I’m not sad.”

“You don’t hide your feelings very well. You have been given a second chance with Inuyasha, isn’t that what you desired?”

“Yes, more than anything.”

“Then why are you so sad?”
