A Fine Mess

Togaou looked around the corner of the hall as he crept past two more guards. So far no one had seen him yet. Just a few more steps and he would be at his goal.

So far Togaou had avoided his wife and sons who happened to be looking for him. He didn’t want to be found though and tried to mask his scent as best he could.

Using a little bit of his poison he sent out fumes as two more guards were now incapacitated before he got to the door.

Opening the door, Togaou slipped inside looking around trying to make sure no one was in the room. This time he was in luck as he slid over to the sleeping creature that he quickly wrapped in his mokomoko and then took off out the window as fast as he could.

Flying through the air Togaou found his favorite meditating spot by a very large tree in the middle of the forest. Once there he was finally able to relax and put his plan into motion. No one would deny him this time he was absolutely sure of it as he made himself comfortable underneath the canopy of trees that surrounded him in the great forest.

Sesshoumaru could smell him, but felt like he was just going around in circles. It was like his Father’s scent disappeared and then suddenly reappeared.

“Damn him. I have questions to ask and he is never around when I need him!”

Sesshoumaru growled to himself. He had taken over ruling for the day so that Father and Mother could have a break. Still, there was a problem Sesshoumaru had and it required his Father to be present. Why couldn’t his Father just stay in one place for once in his life?

Luna was busy teaching Inuyasha the ins and outs of running the castle’s servants and was almost finished. She was expecting Togaou to arrive any minute to work with his son’s sword play a bit since Inuyasha indeed seemed to be lacking in that arena, but the man was late for his own son. It was nothing new of course, but it made Luna want to clock her husband for his typical lack of responsibility.

Would her ridiculous husband ever grow up? Luna thought as she had Inuyasha work on his embroidery skills until his Father showed up.

“I am going to look for your Father sweetheart. I will be back.”

Luna stated patting Inuyasha on the knee. Inuyasha nodded and was trying hard to focus on the material he was working with. It was a pale pink colored silk that would be used to make his little baby girl a new kimono so he wanted it just right.

Inuyasha kind of hoped his mate would pop in at some point if nothing else to see all the hard work he had been doing since the birth of Himeko. However, he knew that Sesshoumaru had much on his mind and was trying to take care of business so that he could get a break later in the afternoon so that they could spend some time together before he had to go back to his duties.

Inuyasha thought about going to the nursery to check on Himeko. He missed holding his sweet baby girl running his fingers over the crescent moon on her forehead and those little magenta stripes she got from her Father that made her seem to calm her when she was fussing.

Finishing the last few stitches, Inuyasha gently folded the material and wrote a note to Mother so that she knew that he was going to the nursery.

Inuyasha walked down the corridor almost running into his mate. Sesshoumaru seemed to be in a bit of a rush.

“Inuyasha have you seen Father?”

Inuyasha shook his head no. Sesshoumaru frowned.

“He was supposed to be coming to train me in sword fighting a bit, but he is running late.”

“Where are you going then?”

Sesshoumaru asked as Inuyasha started walking in the opposite direction toward the nursery.

“I am going to check in on Himeko. I left a note for Mother and told the guards by the door where I was headed so that if Father came he would know where I was.”

Sesshoumaru walked alongside Inuyasha.

“Perhaps I will go with you.”

Inuyasha smiled.

“You want to see her too.”

Sesshoumaru nodded.

“Actually if I couldn’t find Father I was going to take off some time from my duties to spend time with you. Pretty much everything is done for the day. I just need to figure out what Father did with all the paperwork I finished. I was supposed to sign two more documents, but they seem to be missing and I needed his advice on a simple matter concerning our allies to the East.”

Inuyasha nodded and then panicked as he saw the two guards passed out on the floor that had been guarding the nursery.

Sesshoumaru got to the door first kicking the useless guards out of the way. Opening the door he noticed that Himeko was gone again. Smelling the room it smelled like only one person.

“FATHER!!!!!!!!!”

Sesshoumaru roared.

This had been the twentieth time this month that Togaou had kidnapped his tiny Granddaughter and he was definitely not ready to return to the nursery with her as he sat upon the rock holding her in his arms while she tugged on his long hair trying to stuff it into her mouth.

“Ah, you are hungry little one. I shall give you a treat then.”

Togaou bit his finger causing it to draw blood then allowed the little babe to suckle on it.

“I doubt that my sons know this little trick. It will make you strong my little Himeko. This will help with those little teeth coming in as well so you will not feel such pain.”

Himeko gurgled a bit and then laughed making Togaou smile.

Togaou smiled at his grandchild as he ran his fingers over her soft downy silver hair. She looked just like his Sesshoumaru other than the eyes. Her eyes were just like Inuyasha’s as well as her full pouting lips. His little Granddaughter would be much sought after with her exotic looks.

Soon Himeko yawned getting sleepy once more.

Suddenly he felt a rock hit the back of his head.

Turning around he saw his irate wife looking at him like he was the asshole of the universe.

“You forgot your duty to Inuyasha today Togaou. Now take our Granddaughter back to the castle.”

Togaou sighed. His wife was right. He had intended to teach Inuyasha better swordsmanship so he wasn’t swinging his fang about like a maniac.

“Fine, but I am only doing this because I made that promise otherwise I wish to be left alone with my grandchild.”

Luna frowned at her mate.

“You kidnapping our grandchild is causing a stir in the castle. You should have asked our sons permission before you just up and take off with her like this. Seriously Togaou, do you have to cause such a commotion every time? This will be the third set of guards we have to replace since no one seems to be immune to your poison.”

Togaou frowned.

“Why would we replace them? There is no need for such. Besides doing this is a good way to keep our guards on their toes. Perhaps next time they will discover me before I knock them out.”

Luna sighed.

“Togaou, you know that you are a well trained assassin just like our son Sesshoumaru. I highly doubt we will find another as sneaky as you two that will be able to get past the guards. You need to quit tormenting them and the rest of your family. Now if you are a good boy, maybe your sons will let you take Himeko more often, but this sneaking around has to end. You are going to give Inuyasha heart failure.”

Togaou scratched the back of his neck and pouted.

“It isn’t as fun though.”

Luna looked at her husband who was acting like a spoiled brat. Would the man ever grow up?

Shaking her head Luna walked with her husband back to the castle with it taking more time then necessary since he was shuffling his feet not wanting to go back.

“Why can’t I just keep you? No one there knows how to raise you like I do especially that cold son of mine. Don’t worry Himeko, I promise I won’t let you become another Sesshoumaru. As much as I love your Father he will never get that damn stick out of his ass and I didn’t even put it there.”

Togaou whispered to Himeko who giggled at her Grandfather who was a very silly man.
