What's A Dragon to Do?

Chapter 36

Kagome stormed down the halls of the palace. Watching almost in amusement as the servants scurried out of her way. She spotted one servant brave enough to approach her and then turned to face her.

Natsu saw the new Lady storming down the halls of the palace and decided that it was best to approach her now. Even if she didn't want to. She had to have the new ladies input into the decorations for the party declaring the Lord and Lady's union. She steeled her nerves and bravely approached the raging miko demoness. She bowed down to Kagome when she neared her. "My Lady a moment of your time if you could."

Kagome waited a few seconds before answering the servant. "Rise. What can I do for you?"

Natsu stood up and faced the still angered miko demoness. When she spotted the new lady smiling at her she returned her smile before she began. "I am Natsu. I am in charge of preparing the palace for you mating party. Most of the preparations for the party is almost done. If you have the time I just need your input into a few of the remaining details."

The last thing she wanted to do right now was deal with anything that had to do with her mating. But with a small groan to herself she straightened her back and waved at Natsu to continue. "Lead the way. I'll do what I can to help."

Natsu lead the lady down the hall and down the stairs. "We have the flowers that we have chosen awaiting to be picked and placed in vases. The formal dining room has been organized and the cooks are busy preparing the food. We need for you to choose the colors of the uniforms the staff will be wearing and the color of the decorations for the outside banners and streamers. The old lords colors were red but I have a large selection of colors for you to choose from."

Kagome turned her head to where Natsu pointed and almost gasped at the sight of all the colorful material stacked on a table. She had to choose between that many different colors. It was almost like looking at a crayon box. She walked over to the table and sighed. To bad that swatches hadn't been invented yet. That would have helped. After removing all the colors that she didn't like she had narrowed the pile down by half. Now to try and choose between all that was left. She didn't really want to do red since Sesshoumaru's dad had done that color so she removed all the red from the table. Now it was down to about a fourth of the colors left. She rummaged through the remaining colors and found a dark blue silk. It was almost the color of the crescent moon on Sesshoumaru's head. "This will work for the banners and the uniforms."

Natsu smiled and nodded her head. "A lovely choice my Lady. All the uniforms and banners will be done by morning. I will have the sewing staff start right away. That is the last thing on list to be taken care of. All will be prepared for you party tomorrow evening." She bowed to Kagome and walked away.

Kagome frowned and decided that she had better get over her anger at her mate quickly if they were to receive visitors so soon. Since the party is tomorrow night does that mean that some of the guest will arrive today. She decided that since she was still angry it was best to converse with the horny Inu in her mind instead of face to face. "Oh Sesshoumaru did you forget to inform me that our party was tomorrow? And can you please tell me if any of the guest will be arriving today?"

Sesshoumaru shuddered when he heard Kagome's cold voice through their bond. Nothing scared him at least not until he mated. For some odd reason his mates anger almost brought the stoic Inu to his knees. With a sigh he decided it would be best to answer his mate. "No Kagome, none of the guest will be arriving today. They will start to arrive around tomorrow afternoon. And they are more than likely to stay for at least two days or so. If we are lucky most will however leave by the following day. But as usual at such affairs many will not leave until they wear out their welcome. And I could have swore that I informed you of the party when we first arrived at the palace."

"I don't think so but so many thing were happening then that you might have and I have just forgotten. If so then sorry. But how many guest are we expecting to arrive?"

"The lords of the East, South and North will of course make an appearance. The minor lords of the western lands will come bringing their mates and pups with them. Your friends will be there with their mates so all in all not very many guest at all."

Kagome was steaming by now. "Not very many. Your definition of not very many seems to differ greatly from mine. How many minor lords and ladies are there exactly?"

Sesshoumaru paused to try and count them all. "At last count I think there are twelve and only nine of them are mated at this time. Of course we can not forget Motoya the human from the village and his mate. Like I said a small gathering. At most youkai gatherings there could be up to a hundred or more guest. As you will see at the spring gathering."

Kagome felt her spirit sag when he mentioned being around a hundred youkai. The only time she had been around that many youkai at once was when Naraku sent them after her pack. "Please tell me that gathering will not be in the Western lands."

"No this year it falls on the Northern Lord this year. We get to host the fall gathering this year."

Kagome sighed in relief. Well at least they wouldn't be at the palace for almost a year. There was plenty of time to get use to being around that many youkai at once. "I am going to check on the children now." With that said she broke her connection to Sesshoumaru and headed for her pups rooms.

Kagome spent the rest of the afternoon watching over her pups. Neither had stirred at all. The potion that Uzuki gave them must work well for them to not make a noise. If she couldn’t hear their heartbeats she would have swore they were dead. As she watched over the pups she thought back to her conversation with Sesshoumaru a little while ago. Maybe she had over reacted slightly. Then she pictured his surprise when she threw the vase at him. Bet nobody had thrown something like that at him before.

As the sun started setting she left the children in the care of one of Uzuki’s helpers. It was time for dinner. She made her way down to the dining room and found her mate and everyone already seated. “Sorry I am late. I had to check on the pups. They are resting and you can barely see a single bruise on either of them.” She made her way to the table and sat down beside her mate.

Sesshoumaru didn’t know how to handle the situation. Was she still mad at him? She didn’t appear to be but he couldn’t say for sure. So he opted to speak to her in private. “Kagome, I am sorry if you mistook my words earlier. I meant no offense. I think your body is just perfect.”

Kagome growled at him. “If you think my body is perfect then why would you want my breast to be bigger?”

Sesshoumaru didn’t know how to answer that question. “I don’t really know what inspired me to say that.”

Kagome laughed and turned a smug face to her mate. “I bet you don’t. You’re just like every other male. Never happy with what you have.”

“I assure you mate that I am very happy with what I have. I cannot remember a time when I was happier.”

“I’d ask you to prove it but right now I am starving. For food that is, so get those thoughts out of your mind. You will be lucky to get anything else from me for some time to come.”

“Now Kagome, there’s no need to take such drastic measures.”

“I’ll show you drastic if you don’t hurry up and take a bite of something so that I can eat. Or do you plan on starving your pups while you try to sooth my anger?”

Sesshoumaru growled lightly at his mate but he picked up his chopsticks and picked up a piece of meat and put it in his mouth. He then looked around the table at the rest of the people present. “Monk you and the human male will join me in my study after breakfast tomorrow.”

Miroku choked on his food when he heard Sesshoumaru’s demand. When he could breath and talk again he replied to him. “Hai, Sesshoumaru.”

Sesshoumaru took a drink of sake before speaking again. "Mine and Kagome's mating party will take place tomorrow evening. I will expect all of you to attend. The leading Lords and their mates will be in attendance and the minor lords of the western lands with their mates and children will also be attending."

He glanced over and saw his brother about to open his mouth. Undoubtedly to complain. "While the Lords and Ladies are here none of you and I do mean none shall be responsible for any battles. That goes doubly for you Inuyasha. For once try to think before you talk. I realize that this may be asking a lot from you but do try to control yourself."

Inuyasha growled at his brother and jumped out of his seat. "I don't act without thinking all the time."

Sesshoumaru just stared at his brother as he ranted. "Your actions have just proved my statement brother. You can not just stand up at the table and start shouting like that. You must control your anger at all times no matter the cause."

Inuyasha sat back down and glared at his brother. "If you don't like the way I act see if I even show up at your ceremony."

Now it was Sesshoumaru's turn to glare. "You will be there brother if I have to drag you there. As a prince of the Western Lands your attendance and that of your mates are required."

"I'd like to see you try it. You would quickly be looking for another arm as I cut your new one off."

Kagome stood up and slammed her hands down on the table hard enough to actually shake a few bowls of food around. "That is enough Inuyasha." She looked down at her mate and saw his smirk before adding his name to her list also. "And you to Sesshoumaru. No one will be fighting tomorrow." She turned once again to glare at Inuyasha. "You will attend and be happy about it or I will say you know what so many times you will beg for death."

Sesshoumaru shut up once his mate started speaking. He was in enough trouble with her as it was and he didn't need Kagome to add arguing with her to her list of grievances against him.

Inuyasha quickly shut his mouth and decided against making Kagome angrier.

Kagome watched as both males settled before returning to her seat and her food. She hurriedly stuffed food in her mouth and as much as she hated resembling Inuyasha as he ate, she wanted to insure that she managed to get some food in her stomach before the brothers found another reason to fight halting her eating.

Sesshoumaru stared openly in shock as he watched his mate stuffing food into her mouth so fast that she actually put his brother to shame. He moved his hand toward her hand to capture her chop sticks to slow her eating. Quickly moving his hand back toward his body as Kagome growled loudly at him and snapped at his hand with her mouth. He was almost afraid that she would try to eat it. "Kagome, you might enjoy your food more if actually took time to chew it."

Kagome glared over at Sesshoumaru and put more of the raw meat on her plate. After she swallowed what food was in her mouth she decided to respond. "Between yours and Inuyasha's fighting I don't get time to eat. I am hungry and if you try to take my chop sticks again when I am attempting to feed my pups I will personally see to it that you will have to visit Uzuki to see if she can heal your missing hand."

Everyone at the table stared in shock at Kagome's words. At least until Sango and Masumi looked at each other then broke into laughter.

Inuyasha stared at the two laughing girls and waited for them to stop. When a little time went by and they were still laughing he decided that enough was enough. "What are you two laughing about?"

Sango tried to control her laughter but when she looked up at Inuyasha her laughter grew more intense. It was only her mates quick reflexes that saved her from falling out of her chair.

Masumi managed to control her laughter enough to answer him. "We are laughing because recently we have found ourselves in much the same shape as Lady Kagome. Although I do not believe that I would threaten to bite my mates hand off. Although I really can't say that it would not happen if he tried to stop me from eating."

Miroku shot his mate a wary glance and Kitaro quickly handed Sango her chop sticks. Which seemed to make Sango's laugh all the harder.

Inuyasha just chuckled slightly then Masumi's words seemed to sink in. With a not so hidden sniffing of the room he dropped his head onto the table in front of him. Barely missing his plate. "Great with two more of them expecting we will never be able to go jewel hunting."

Kitaro and Miroku growled at Inuyasha's words. So what if their mates were expecting. The jewel would just have to wait. The welfare of their mates and pups came first. And if the hanyou didn't like it he could hunt the shards by himself.

Juria smacked her mate on the back of his head. "I think it's great that were going to have eight pups in the palace soon. It has been a very and I do mean very long time since a pup has been born in the palace. Well one that belongs to the western family anyways. And just think we get three pups at once. I hope Niche is going to be able to keep up with all those pups."

At the mention of three pups Inuyasha suddenly sat up before dropping his head again. "Oh no, not three little Sesshoumaru's running around at the same time. Surely the kami's can't be that cruel."

Sesshoumaru lifted his sake cup to his lips being careful to keep his hands away from his mates plate and food to hide his smirk. As he lowered his cup he watched his brother. "I can't wait till the pups are born. I have much to teach the pups like hunting prey and swordsmanship. And if you ever learn to truly fight with Tetsusaiga I might even allow you to be a sparing dummy for them."

Inuyasha jumped up and reached for said sword. "I'll show you sparing dummy."

Kagome paused in eating long enough to say a certain word as Inuyasha jumped toward her and her mate. She managed to rescue her plate as he crashed into the table breaking it in half.

Sesshoumaru heard his mates stern voice and then saw his brother go down. He would never tire of that. But he didn't expect for the hanyou to actually break his table. There was very little that he could do as bowls and plates of food flew in the air landing on the floor and the contents covering the occupants sitting around the table. It was just by luck that everything missed him or his mate. As he looked around the table at the now food covered group he had to forcibly control his mirth. Sometimes it was so hard to be a Taiyoukai.

After everyone left to get clean, the servants cleaned the mess and replaced the table and started preparing more food. They didn't have much time before the Lord and Lady and the rest of their family returned to eat once again.

Sesshoumaru and Kagome returned to the dining room and found most of the servants bustling about setting everything to rights. Their chairs were back at the new head table so they went over and sat down. It didn't take long for the rest of their pack to rejoin them. They were much cleaner now than they had been.

Kagome saw the head cook nod to her then walk back into the kitchen. With a slight nod of her head the servants brought new food in. Before long everyone started talking and enjoying each others company. It was at this time that Kagome remembered Juria's words. “Juria, you said earlier that three pups were being born to the Western family. I'm only having two. Where did the other come from?” As soon as she said that she recalled Kaede's words. “Uh, never mind I think I know.”

Juria laughed at Kagome's embarrassment. “I guess you remembered what the old miko told me?”

Inuyasha stopped talking to Miroku when he heard Kagome's question. He had totally missed Juria saying that earlier. “What old miko and what did she tell you and where is the other pup coming from?” Inuyasha turned to Sesshoumaru. “Did our old man have another pup that I don't know about?”

Sesshoumaru growled at his baka of a brother. “No baka, there is just the two of us. Although at this moment he is probably rolling around in his tomb laughing himself silly over his youngest sons stupidity.”

Inuyasha growled at being called stupid. But when Juria thumped him in the head he turned towards her. “What was that for?”

Juria sighed and just shook her head. “Think about it Inuyasha. If Kagome is having two pups who else in the royal family would be having a pup to make it three?” Even if he was as smart as mold at times she still loved him.

Finally it dawned on Inuyasha and with a small howl he jumped up and grabbed Juria from her seat and twirled her around in circles. And as everyone started laughing he stopped and rubbed her stomach. “Are you sure. I can't even smell the pup yet. How could you know. And what does a miko have to do with it?”

Juria laughed and grabbed his hand to stop him from rubbing her stomach. “The miko Kaede told me that I was with pup this afternoon.”

Now Inuyasha was puzzled. “When did you see Kaede?”

Kagome had to laugh at the baffled look Inuyasha's face. “I asked that the girls took me there this morning. I had to run home for a bit and Sesshoumaru wouldn't allow me to go by myself. So the only way he would allow me to go is if I had guards. Well who better to guard me than my sisters.”

Sesshoumaru shook his head. Did his brother not even realize that his mate was not in the castle. “Inuyasha after the ball you will begin training with me. You obviously need to learn how to use more of your demon senses.”

Inuyasha just sat down and crossed his arms over his chest. Like he wanted to train with his brother. But it would be and advantage to learn from the best no matter how much he disliked the idea. “Yeah like I'm the only one that needs to learn shit like that. Theres a lot of new demons here that need that.”

“Your right Inuyasha and now that you mention it the monk will be joining you in your training. The ladies however will hold off on their training until after they whelp their pups and have recovered.” Sesshoumaru lifted his cup of tea and drank the last of it.

Kagome smiled at the frowns that both Inuyasha and Miroku were spotting. She hoped her surprises would cheer them up some. “The ladies and I have a couple of things to discuss. I think we will do so in our room so until later Sesshoumaru.” She leaned down and not caring who saw her she kissed him good bye. When she broke the kiss she turned and nodded to the other males and turned to leave the room with her sisters behind her.

Sesshoumaru just sat in his chair slightly shocked that Kagome would kiss him like that in front of everyone. Not that he was complaining. It didn't take long for his dislike of public affection to fly out the window. If his mate wanted to kiss him like that who was he to complain.

When the females were out the door he turned to the males that were left with him and if he showed emotions he would have laughed at Kitaro's look of shock and Inuyasha's look of disgust. The monk just had a sly smirk on his face. “I have work to finish. If you need me I will be in my study.” With that said he stood and walked out of the study.

Inuyasha shook his head after he left. “Never thought I would see the day where I would be dining at the same table as my brother and then watch Kagome kiss him like that.”

Miroku laughed at Inuyasha. “Yes our little Kagome has grown up.”

“Yeah, she has. At least Sesshoumaru seems to be good for her.” Inuyasha took another drink of his Sake. “Now if I can just keep her from sitting me.”

Kitaro laughed and slapped the hanyou on his back. “I don't see that happening as long as you keep running that mouth of yours. You really need to learn when to keep your mouth shut and your sword sheathed.”

Miroku started choking when he heard what Kitaro said. When he could breath again he had a huge smile on his face. “Yeah Inuyasha if you had kept your sword sheathed you wouldn't be mated right now.”

Inuyasha smiled at Miroku. “Yeah like your one to talk. Besides with Juria around it has a warm sheath to hug it.”

Kitaro was shell shocked at the words emitting from the duo around him. “I had heard about your hentainess monk but since I have known you I have never seen it. I am beginning to believe that what I have heard is true.”

Inuyasha about fell off his chair when Kitaro spoke. “You better believe it. If there is a way to make anything anyone says sound perverted, it's Miroku.”

“I resent that Inuyasha. Besides I can't help it if you all leave yourselves open to my wonderful sense of humor.” With all piousness he could muster he took another sip of his sake.

Now Kitaro had to laugh. “You have been around the monk to long Inuyasha because your as much a hentai as he is.”

With a sad sigh Inuyasha lowered his head. “Yes it's true. The monk has corrupted my innocent nature. Being around the hentai for so many years have had a detrimental effect on me.”

Miroku had been taking a drink of sake as Inuyasha spoke and he just spit it out when he heard his friends words. “Inuyasha, How could you say something like that. I have never made an advance on you.”

Now it was time for Inuyasha to choke. After a few hard whacks on the back courtesy of Kitaro he could breath normally. “Like I would allow you to touch me like that.”

Kitaro stood up and started walking out the room. “I am leaving before you two try to corrupt my innocent nature. Other demons may swing both ways but I am not one of them. I much prefer my sweet Sango to you two hentais. I do hope that those two sweet demonesses that mated you don't hear about your rendezvous. I don't think they would approve. But then again you might get lucky and they might join you two in one of your adventures.”

Inuyasha was in shock at Kitaro's words. “Hey, I have never done that with the monk.”

Miroku just laughed and shook his head. “Are you saying that you have done something like that with someone else?”

Inuyasha just threw his hands up in the air. “No I have not. I'm leaving now before you turn anything else I say around to satisfy your hentai nature.” He got up and followed Kitaro out of the room.

Miroku got up and followed him out of the room. He would go rest before Masumi got to the room. He wouldn't get much rest for the remainder of the night. His mate may be a wolf but she was a tiger in the bed.

The girls stood in Kagome's room looking at the items they had received earlier that day.

Masumi shook her head and laughed. “You all can't possibly be that shy. Your mated now so get some nerves and just do it.” She untied her obi and shrugged her kimono off her shoulders letting it fall at her feet. She picked up her outfit and with Kagome's help she put it on. When she was done she walked over to Kagome's mirror and looked at the final outcome. It didn't look to bad. Even if most of the gown was see through.

Sango looked up as Masumi walked to the mirror. “Hey that's not fair she has one that covers most of her body and I get something like this?” She held up what Kagome called a bustier.

“That's because it's for Miroku. He gets hard at the drop of a hat. I had no idea about Kitaro. Besides my mother picked everything out.” Kagome went to her bag and for the first time drew out her outfit and held it up. “Do you honestly think that I would buy myself something like this. Hell I didn't even realize that my mother knew about clothing like this. Why in the hell did she buy me something like this. Look it even has a split crotch. Sesshoumaru will love it because it has easy access though. That is if I can keep him from shredding it the minute he sees it.”

Sango saw Kagome's outfit and stopped complaining about hers. At least hers covered her breast and she had the thong thing to wear with it. So with Kagome's help she got dressed and then it was her turn to look in the mirror. Yeah Kitaro would love it but like Kagome she didn't think it would last too long after he saw it.

After Juria saw Sango's outfit she didn't hesitate to put hers on. Hers was red and she had a thong to match. The thong wasn't to comfortable but she would wear it this once.

When all three of her sisters were dressed Kagome put her outfit on. She would have to have a serious talk t her mother one of these days. When she was completely dressed she turned to see her friends blushing like crazy. “I don't look that bad do I?”

“No but I don't think that outfit is going to last two seconds on you.” Sango picked up her kimono and slipped it back on and tied her obi. It didn't hide the boots but that was ok. “Well I guess it's time to see if Kitaro likes it or not.” She then turned and walked out the door.

It didn't take Juria and Masumi long to follow her.

Kagome put her kimono back on and sat down on the bed awaiting her mate.

An hour later when her mate didn't appear Kagome decided that it was time to hunt him down. So off she went.

It didn't take too long to track him to his study. She knocked gently on the door before opening it. When she entered the study she turned and shut the door. “Are you going to work all night?”

Sesshoumaru looked up when his mate entered his study. “I just have a few more missives to answer then I will be up.”

“Are they urgent or is it something can possibly wait till the morning?” Kagome started walking toward her mate trying not to let him know what she was up to.

Sesshoumaru looked back down at the message on his desk. “Nothing to urgent but I am so far behind. I'm just glad that Inuyasha actually did some real work when he covered for me or it would take me forever to catch up.”

Kagome smirked at her mate even if he didn't see it. Then she turned and noticed that the door had a latch to keep other people out. She went back to the door and made sure it was locked.

Sesshoumaru heard the door lock and looked up to find Kagome leaning against it. He raised his brow at her. “Is there something that you need Kagome?”

Kagome just smiled and started walking toward him undoing her obi along the way. When it came undone she dropped it to the floor and slowly parted her kimono revealing to her mate what she had on under it. “With all this work you have to do can you give me what I want?”
