Chapter 32
Sango placed another arrangement of lilies upon her husband’s grave. She missed the wild letch of a man who was once her husband. He had been a good Father and perfect husband settling down immediately with their children.
Miroku had especially been thrilled when Sango decided to be with him forever as his wife. It seemed however, forever was not to be.
The Lord that coveted Sango’s affection came looking for her again, but she refused his offer to marry a second time. She was still in mourning and was not sure she would ever marry again. Touching her pregnant belly she knew Miroku had to be watching them from the netherworld.
Rin had been the sunshine Sango needed to help fill the void Kagome left with her death. Kagome had been so helpful with the little ones and Kaede was training her to be a great miko. They needed a new healer to take Kagome’s place since Kaede was having a more difficult time moving about due to her age. The feisty old woman was indeed still feisty, but her energy waned from time to time.
“Miroku, I miss you.”
Sango stated softly as she said her prayer at his grave.

Kamarasui found a small village not too far from the cat’s lair. It would do for a temporary hide out until she could find a way off of the island of Japan back to the mainland. There had to be a way to escape before Lord Sesshoumaru found her.
Disguising herself as a young peasant girl was not difficult. Killing the girl whose identity she stole wasn’t either. The little thief tried to steal her magic bag and was planning on killing her so it was not a hard decision to make.
When she arrived she found a young pregnant woman bowing before two grave stones.
“Hello.”
Kamarasui bowed before the young woman.
“Is there something I can do for you?”
The pregnant girl asked feeling a bit irritated at some stranger approaching such a sacred spot.
“Yes, I apologize, but I am lost and am in need of rest. Is there a village close by?”
The girl regarded Kamarasui with some distrust.
“There is, but it is quite small and there is little room for more. However perhaps we can find someone to help you on your way to someplace more suited for your needs.”
Kamarasui smiled politely as she followed the young woman.
“I am sorry I did not catch your name.”
Kamarasui stated softly.
“My name is Sango. What is yours?”
“Lin.”
Sango nodded.
“Welcome Lin to the Taijiya village.”
Sango and the others had incorporated the small village of Kaede’s into a training center for demon slayers. There were very few who came, but those that took up residence here were none to mess with and Kamarasui wasn’t sure this was such a great idea. It would not take long for a skilled taijiya to see through her disguise not to mention the scent of powerful miko power was here as well.
“Perhaps I should move on.”
Kamarasui stated timidly.
“Why, because you are a demon?”
Sango stated firmly.
“If you knew what I was why did you not kill me?”
Sango huffed.
“You have done nothing to me to warrant such. However, do take this warning…..demons who trespass here with intentions of doing evil do not leave alive. This village is protected by the Inu No Tashio. If anyone were to harm any living creature here without his consent I would hate to see what would happen to them.”
Kamarasui nodded.
“Then I will make sure to behave myself.”
Sango smirked.
“See that you do so.”
Kamarasui transformed into her humanoid form and followed Sango to the hut where Kaede awaited her return.

Inuyasha sat thinking about what Mother had said. He had the right to mourn his wife, but she would not mourn him since she was dead. It seemed to be such a sad statement, but true. Was she truly watching over him? If she was then will there not be a sign that stated what he was doing with Sesshoumaru was ok?
Kagome had always been a kind soul with a good heart. Perhaps she did understand. Then again, when she was mad at him she would sit him, (not that he didn’t deserve it at times).
“Kagome, if you hear me at all know I still love you. I am sorry I couldn’t save you.”
Sesshoumaru huffed at Inuyasha.
“You know that mourning her will not bring her back.”
Inuyasha ignored his brother. Sesshoumaru didn’t understand. He hadn’t lost anyone he loved and he was certain that even if he did love Father he would never show it.
“I know that bastard. I just miss her a lot. She was my wife, you have no idea what it is like to lose someone you love like this.”
Sesshoumaru sighed.
“Perhaps not. I find that mourning does not help one move forward. It is a problem and one that will hold you back if you persist on being miserable about a past you cannot change.”
Inuyasha sat back against a tree.
“I don’t plan on being miserable forever. Then again I am mated to you so I could be wrong.”
Sesshoumaru shrugged.
“You wonder why I did not mourn Father. I did, but in a way that would not take away from my goals in life. He made a decision as we all do Inuyasha and it was that decision that ended his life.”
Inuyasha snarled.
“Kagome didn’t have a choice and neither did Miroku.”
Sesshoumaru shook his head.
“They could have fought back, but humans are weak creatures. Even the most powerful miko could not defeat the cats that attacked. It was an unfortunate situation.”
Inuyasha frowned.
“So, what am I supposed to do? Forget about them?”
Sesshoumaru smiled softly.
“No. But you have to move on. You have more than yourself to think about now. You have our pup.”
Inuyasha touched his belly.
“I wish it was Kagome having this pup. I am no longer a man. I am just this thing……not male, not female, not demon, and not human… I am always just half of something.”
Inuyasha stated looking at himself and his female parts.
“You are special Inuyasha and my mate. You are always Inuyasha and you are not half of a person. Just because you are unique does not mean you are less important than anyone else.”
Inuyasha looked at Sesshoumaru with surprise on his face. It was the first time Sesshoumaru almost admitted he was someone rather than just a half breed.
“But you always said………..”
Sesshoumaru sighed.
“Forget what I said in the past. It is time to move forward as I said before. You are my mate and therefore you have worth to me.”
Inuyasha frowned. Sesshoumaru was such an ass.
“So because I can bear your offspring I suddenly have worth?”
Sesshoumaru thought a moment before he spoke.
“You have always had worth to me.”
Inuyasha thought he might faint from such a confession.
“Are you serious?”
Sesshoumaru looked at Inuyasha in annoyance.
“Do I always have to repeat myself with you? I will not say such things again so take it as my word.”
Inuyasha felt ten times better. Perhaps this was a sign that things could be better in the future.
