A Fine Mess

Sesshoumaru took Inuyasha to see Mother the following day. Of course she was happy as could be to see her favorite little pregnant son.

“Inuyasha dear you look stressed again. Tell Mother what is going on.”

Mother looked at Sesshoumaru accusingly.

“Is it true that someone else will raise my pup?”

Mother then sighed. So this was the problem.

“I think you both should come with me. We have much to discuss.”

Sesshoumaru nodded to Inuyasha to follow Mother to where their Father was awaiting them both. He knew by the looks on their faces what they came to discuss.

“Inuyasha no doubt you were wondering why we have chosen someone to help raise your child?”

Inuyasha looked at Father and pouted.

“Father I want to raise our child like normal parents, with both of us being there for our son or daughter. I know you were not around much for Sesshoumaru and look how he turned out? He is a brooding asshole who is pissed off at everyone most of the time.”

Sesshoumaru felt slightly insulted at this comment.

“I am not pissed off at everyone most of the time Inuyasha.”

Inuyasha ignored his brother.

“Anyway, I don’t want strangers raising our pup. I would rather be unmated like all the other bitches he has been with and just raise this pup on my own.”

Togaou smiled and put a hand on Inuyasha’s shoulder.

“What if I were to tell you that your pup will not be raised by strangers Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha frowned.

“No, even if I knew these bastards I would want to raise my pup.”

Luna smirked.

“Inuyasha, you will be very busy being the Lady of the West. You will have little time to raise the pup on your own. However, we would like the opportunity to raise your pup with you. We are in no means going to take your baby away; we just wish to assist since Luna and I are no longer rulers of the West. We have given you and Sesshoumaru this responsibility.”

Inuyasha was in shock.

“You want to help raise our pup? Sesshoumaru! Why didn’t you tell me?!”

Sesshoumaru sighed.

“I tried to tell you this Inuyasha, but you were so upset that I didn’t want to frustrate you more.”

Inuyasha thought about it and Sesshoumaru was right. He didn’t want to think of anyone except them raising the pup.

“Inuyasha we want you to have time to be a family too, so we will help rule, but the main decisions will be up to Sesshoumaru. You will learn from me how to be a proper Lady or Lord and in return as a grandparent we will get time to spoil our grandchild. We both regret the time that was lost in raising you and your brother. I think however, we can move past regrets and find a peaceful solution in this decision.”

Luna explained and Inuyasha felt worlds better.

“So this was your solution all along?”

Sesshoumaru shook his head no.

“It was Father’s and Mother’s idea. I was willing to step down for Father to rule, but since he does not want the responsibility all the time we came to this decision. He is still my Alpha and therefore I will most likely concede to his wishes in this juncture of my life. I am still a young diayouki and Father’s death did not give me time to train in certain political arenas that require my immediate attentions.”

Inuyasha’s heart filled with joy. He was glad of this decision, but in some ways he still missed his wife and friends wishing Kagome could have been here for him.

“Thank you.”

Luna smiled and so did Togaou as he put an arm around his wife.

“Inuyasha there is still something bothering you. Please tell us what else we can do to make you more at ease.”

Father stated softly seeing the sad distant look in Inuyasha’s eyes.

“I miss my friends and wife. We were unable to save Kagome and my best friend Miroku. He has a wife with several children who are now on their own in a village not far from here. I would like to make sure Sango is taken care of as well as Miroku’s children.”

Father nodded and hugged his son.

“You miss her don’t you? Your wife.”

Inuyasha nodded.

“I feel like I have betrayed her with Sesshoumaru, but I also feel right with him. I don’t understand it all.”

Father looked at Sesshoumaru and then at Tensaiga.

“I wasn’t able to revive them.”

Sesshoumaru explained what occurred and why they could not save the two humans. Father felt for Inuyasha and frowned a bit at Sesshoumaru.

“You always had to rush things.”

Sesshoumaru frowned.

“It takes two to make a child Father.”

Inuyasha wanted to bring up more, but Father was already arguing with Sesshoumaru about pushing Inuyasha too fast to mate. There should have been more time to mourn his wife.

“No wonder you have such stress.”

Mother stated looking at the arguing men.

“You were hoping to have a child with this Kagome?”

Mother asked gently.

“We planned on having a large family, but it never happened.”

Mother sat Inuyasha down and explained some things to him.

“My sweet boy, I am sorry for your loss. However, truth is male hanyous rarely are able to bear fruit with a human. You are meant to be with males since your body is built for bearing children. You see you would have outlived her. That is the hard truth. I am sorry to tell you this, but it is best you know from me then another.”

Inuyasha felt great sorrow.

“I loved her and she loved me. It would have been enough for us just to be together. Sesshoumaru treats love like a disease.”

Mother laughed a bit.

“Sesshoumaru loves you. He just doesn’t want to seem weak. He hides his emotions well, but the fact is he would not be so willing to allow us to help you both out if he was not trying to show his love for you. He would force you to watch servants raise your child. He did this for you. My Sesshoumaru may be stubborn, but he has a good heart.”

Inuyasha sighed as he wiped away a teardrop from his eye.

“I just miss Kagome so much.”

Mother nodded.

“That will take time and Sesshoumaru will have to deal with your feelings of loss for your human wife. However, do not mourn for long. The dead do not mourn us and your Kagome would not want to see you unhappy now would she?”

Inuyasha sighed. Mother was right.

“No, she would want me to be happy. I am just not sure I am happy. Sesshoumaru is such an asshole.”

Mother chuckled.

“You will be fine young one.”

With that said Mother left with Father to take care of the business of finding more servants after losing so many and Sesshoumaru took Inuyasha home.
