A Fine Mess

Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha had rebuilt much of their castle with the help of a few of the servants from Mother’s castle. Inuyasha had fallen into calling Luna Mother since she insisted.

Father had moved into Mother’s castle and therefore leaving gave Sesshoumaru his inheritance. It was only fair to do so since Togaou had been indeed dead for many years. It was considered a mating gift.

Although many lives were lost, the Inu’s continued to flourish. Many females were pregnant through new matings. It took some time to convince many of the raped young women to choose a sire for their pups since many did not want them, but Luna proclaimed that the children were innocent so therefore they would be either kept or given to families who wanted them. Others did take medicines to remove the fetus before this proclamation and Luna understood although she did not agree with this type of practice as common place.

Sesshoumaru searched for Kamarasui, but could not find her and soon gave up the search for the time being to be there for Inuyasha. It was the very first time in his life that he would be there for his pup’s birth.

Inuyasha was starting to show and had become a bit more irrational then before. He wanted to search out all of Sesshoumaru’s former lovers to find all the kids that Sesshoumaru was neglecting.

“What do you mean I am being foolish? It isn’t like we don’t have space to care for these people. It is the least you could do.”

Inuyasha hollered as Sesshoumaru sat back in his chair trying to concentrate on his paperwork.

“Inuyasha we are not going to find all my children. Besides, their Mothers do not want this. They have moved on with their lives and so have we. Can we now change the subject?”

Inuyasha pouted.

“No. I think that you are just being selfish.”

Sesshoumaru sighed.

“And you are being ridiculous. I don’t even recall who I have been with anymore and you want me to recall all of my old lovers. I am not going to do that Inuyasha. You are asking too much of me.”

Inuyasha threw his hands up in the air.

“Fine….I still think you are a bastard.”

Sesshoumaru smirked.

“I did not expect that to change.”

Inuyasha sulked leaning against the wall.

“Why do you always do paperwork at night? It is dark and it ain’t good for your eyes ya know.”

Sesshoumaru shook his head.

“Inuyasha you forget I am a demon. I see better at night than during the day. Perhaps it is just a half demon weakness you have, but I have no such weakness.”

Inuyasha fumed and Sesshoumaru smirked again.

“You did that on purpose.”

Sesshoumaru sat smirking in his chair after finishing the last document.

“I do not know what you are talking about Inuyasha.”

Inuyasha huffed.

“Keh……..whatever……..”

Sesshoumaru then yawned and stood up.

“Inuyasha, why do you continue to fight with me? Are you really that bored?”

Inuyasha frowned.

“No, I just don’t understand how you could not want to see your kids. I am going to have our child and I can’t imagine it not having a Father and a Mother. I don’t want our kids to grow up like we did. I want to be there for them.”

Sesshoumaru looked down at the floor and thought about this.

“I have already arranged for care for our pup Inuyasha. We have to find that witch Kamarasui and we have lands to rule. Our people will need our attention. We are raising a ruler to my throne.”

Inuyasha looked completely hurt.

“No………no……….I want to raise our child together.”

Sesshoumaru gave Inuyasha a look that meant he made up his mind.

“How could you do this to me? To us? I thought you didn’t want to be like our Father.”

Sesshoumaru snarled.

“It is not a choice. You do not understand.”

Inuyasha felt tears come.

“I do understand and I think it is wrong.”

With that Inuyasha walked back to their room and sobbed. He wished he had never mated Sesshoumaru.

Sesshoumaru just sat in his chair running his hand over his face in frustration. Inuyasha had no idea what his Father dealt with, what they would be dealing with as rulers. There was no way they could raise a family in the traditional sense. Such privileges and frivolities were only for the common folk.

Getting up he decided comforting Inuyasha would not help this situation. Inuyasha would just have to learn that being a ruler meant that there was little time for anything else. Once the castle was built completely there would be little time for each other as well. These were blessed times and he did not want to spend them arguing with his mate.

Finally after pacing for a while trying to figure out what to say, Sesshoumaru went to see Inuyasha.

“Inuyasha, we need to talk about our fighting. It has to end.”

Inuyasha looked up and growled.

“It will never end. Not until you bend a little. You spend time with me now all the time so why will we not have this same time with our child?”

Sesshoumaru looked at the floor and then looked up at his mate.

“Inuyasha soon this castle will be built. We will have courts full of people, new servants, and you will be taking on the roll as Lady of the West. It is a heavy burden and it requires all your time. You will have very little time for raising a child.’
“We will see our children, but they too will be busy being trained and becoming proper royal members of our family. You will have lessons as well.”

Inuyasha moaned in frustration.

“I want to be a Mother Sesshoumaru. I want to feed our pup and be there when it takes its first steps. I don’t want to miss things like that.”

Sesshoumaru frowned wanting to please his mate, but knew that he was only going to cause more stress if he told him he could have what he wanted.

“Inuyasha you will only feed the pup for a few days and then he will go to the wet nurse. You will be there for our pup more than I will be, but you will find your day to be full majority of the time.”

Inuyasha didn’t care. He would find time to be with his baby.

“I don’t want to rule. Just leave me like the other women. Do me that favor Sesshoumaru.”

Sesshoumaru couldn’t believe his ears. He could not leave his mate.

“That is impossible. I will do no such thing.”

Inuyasha sobbed.

“Why not? How am I so different from those women?”

Sesshoumaru did not know how to explain things.

“Perhaps it would be best if Mother explained some things to you Inuyasha. I am no good at this and I am just making you stress which is not good for the pup or for you.”

Inuyasha stopped sobbing.

“I like talking to Mother.”

Sesshoumaru smiled.

“Good, than we shall do so tomorrow.”

Inuyasha smiled a bit. Perhaps Mother would be able to get Sesshoumaru to change his mind about raising their children.
