Sesshomaru sat at the low table in his brothers room, he'd gotten up that morning at his usual time. It was a time he was used to being awake and he could feel the world fluttering to life around him as he lay there with his brother curled up next to him.
He decided that the hanyou would sleep until he woke himself, as with most hanyou and youkai. When harmed in some way sleep often was more restorative than all the medicines in the world. Tokai had brought the matter that required tending to into the sleeping hanyou's room where the Daiyoukai decided to spend the day. There where always papers and situations that only Sesshomaru could have true say in.
Toshi looked at the hanyou as he once again stirred pulling the plush pillows closer to him, before falling back into a peaceful slumber.
"Was the young prince this restless last night my lord." Tokai asked in a low voice so as to not wake InuYasha.
He was slightly amused that the puppy ear flicked towards his voice none the less.
"No," Sesshomaru answered "I imagine I would be in foul mood this morning if he rustled about like that all night."
Tokai nodded he noticed where the ear had acknowledged his voice with a flick, then maintained direction when it came to the elder brothers deep baritone.
"You said he does not remember you?"
Sesshomaru nodded his eyes catching the finer points on the paper before him.
"It is more that he has a memory of me, but can not complete it, that is the impression I gained last night."
Tokai nodded again.
"My lord, I have cousin, his son is delicate child for one of our race, he had in the past met with some unsavory types. I wish to consult him on the matter of your brother. So, we may have some insight on what to expect and what to do."
The Daiyoukai looked up from the paper.
"I have dealt with the sexually assaulted before Tokai."
His adviser understood that he didn't want the news of his brother's current temperament going outside the castle.
"Yes, as have I, but your brother was not just assaulted, he was beaten down to be this hanyou we see before us. My cousin's son was with those who assaulted him for many days before he escaped. He moved the boy to a quiet place to have him healed. His insight might be valuable beyond worth."
Sesshomaru had to admit he was even now without a clue as to how he was going to bring his brother out of this state he'd been in most of his life. Most of a life that should have been spent at his side, learning to rule their father's lands. He was brought out of thought by the rising hanyou.
He looked at Sesshomaru and Tokai, then back at Sesshomaru.
"I have to go back."
Sesshomaru felt rage flare instantly inside him, the boy flinched and ducked his head low, ear flat against his head.
"What do you not understand InuYasha, you are not going back to that prison."
He didn't remember moving to the bed from where he'd been sitting, but he was now looking down at the hanyou, he took some pride in that fact InuYasha had not tried to hide behind pillows. Just steeled him self for whatever the Daiyoukai might deal him.
Tokai cleared his throat.
"I think that the young price should eat and then Luken should be quiet ready to see him."
Sesshomaru nodded and moved back to his chair.
Tokai wanted to suggest that Sesshomaru leave the room during the physical examination but realized as soon as the thought appeared it was foolish. The demon in him would not let one of his family line alone with anyone, not with InuYasha in such a state.
Toshi straightened the silks of the bed and signaled for the servant to come forth with the food.
He'd spoken to the healer last night about the inu prince and instructions for what InuYasha should eat was already sent down. These where loose instruction as the healer discussed with him the other day there are many complications that could come from InuYasha being held in such a manner. Most of which he could only speculate until he saw the boy the next day.
InuYasha ate quietly, he looked strangely at the raw meats put before him, but took a bite then found that taste and texture appealed to him, he began to eat it more rapidly. Both youkai stopped and watched as he devoured the plate of raw meat. Sesshomaru looked at the servant, and indicated he should bring more of the same. Which was quickly set before the young hanyou for the moment he ignored all other food and most everyone in the room.
Basic needs each youkai class had them, as infant you tried to provide them, as children you tried to teach your young to seek them. Once when the youkai where more primal and feral they would deprive the essential from the weaker or dying young. All was hunted for and given fresh, even the lowest peasant had this privilege, you could eat older meat but for those who did not eat carrion it tasted less than it should be. He watch the raven eat aged meat, he could and would eat a fresher fare and often preferred it. But at times he craved the carrion. Sesshomaru's kitchen staff made sure some was kept about for him.
Children during more current times that where not fed properly did not develop properly, it didn't seem like a complicated procedure for the youkai elders, or parent responsible for the well being of child but for those who where not aware of what the youkai cub needed it seemed ridiculous and extravagant.
Sesshomaru saw his brother eating with such enthusiasm as a form of neglect, yet a another bit to the puzzle that needed to be answered. Did his captor and keeper do this on purpose or for lack of knowledge?
InuYasha looked ready to fall back asleep after he'd eaten his fill.
A knock at the door sounded. The healer entered smiling at his lord and Toshi. He looked at the young youkai sitting on the bed taking in what he could on his appearance.
He bowed to Sesshomaru.
"I, Luken, am here to tend to our young lord, I understand his health is in question."
InuYasha was looking at him with failing eyelids.
"So many new people."
The healer chuckled,
"Yes, well I imagine Prince InuYasha, may I?"
He extended his hand to show he wished to approach the prince.
InuYasha looked toward Sesshomaru in question. He looked confused when he gave no indication whether he approved or not.
"It is up to you if I may approach, your brother will only intervene if he feels you are in some danger."
The healer said.
InuYasha eyes moving between the two, gave a cautious nod. He relaxed a little when Sesshomaru didn't show displeasure at his agreement. He stood before the young prince.
"First we will have to have you remove your tunic so that I might examine you more thoroughly."
InuYasha nodded and began to pull the shirt off.
He followed all the instructions given to him by the healer. He didn't completely understand why every one was so soft spoken with him. The master and the men at the compound where not nice to him. The men often where waiting for the master to turn his back or to be away long enough that they could do what they liked to him. It didn't matter that if they touched him without the masters permission it was an instant death. They always seemed to hunger for pleasures the caused him pain. His life had always been those various rooms and various horrible actions taken against him.
He tried to remember life before the master but could not whenever he did, he'd get sick or horrible headaches.
He watched the healer as he ran his hand over his arms and his ribs. It confused him further how confronting the feel of his hands where. He could not imagine these hand doing to him what had been done. Though he was constantly waiting for him to be ordered to.
The healer asked him to lay down.
The meat in his stomach felt good, he'd thought they where punishing him for something when he saw the plate laden with raw meat. But as soon as the aroma hit his nose he had to have it, and the craving did not seem to have an end even now though he was full he could still feel his body craving it, wanting more. Wanting to smell it and to taste, to have his belly full of it. He didn't want to say anything though, he didn't want it taken away.
He remembered waking in a cell on some straw, his hair was short like it was now. He didn't remember anything before that. If he thought hard he could pull up vague images of some one with a knife pulling on his hair cutting it. It had hurt. But that was as far as he could remember without getting a headache.
"Tell me Prince InuYasha. Have you been ill lately."
He thought hard on this, no he had not been ill.
InuYasha shook his head.
The healer smiled at him in very friendly way.
"Have you been tired a lot of late?"
"Yes," he said softly "but I am always tired.”
Master had said it was because he was a hanyou and weaker than other youkai.
The healer smiled and nodded.
He felt the healer reach up and touch his hair, he flinched a bit as his scalp was still sore from the cutting.
He looked down at InuYasha.
"Why did you cut your wonderful hair young prince?"
InuYasha's dull golden eye turn to the side.
"I disobeyed, I just wanted to go out side."
"I am sure Lord Sesshomaru will let you go outside as long as a guard is with you.'
InuYasha looked towards the Daiyoukai, who gave a slight nod.
He felt a small flutter of excitement at the prospect.
"When you where little" the healer began " you would find the best gardens to play and hide in."
He smiled down at the young hanyou.
"Oh, you would come out when you'd gotten hungry, but if we had provided you food you would have eluded us forever."
He looked at the princes eyes he could see that he could not remember this.
"It always was a relief when you turned up and I would look you over quickly just to make sure that you had not suffered any injury."
He pulled his hand back.
He touched the hanyou on the head.
"We need to get your nutrients up and build up your immune system it is a little weak. If you are hungry young lord you are to say so right away. So we can have you fed."
InuYasha nodded as the healer handed him his shirt.
He turned.
"Lord Sesshomaru may I see you outside for a moment."
Sesshomaru nodded.
"I shall return shortly." He said to InuYasha.
Tokai followed them out.
The smiled disappeared from the healers face as soon as the door closed.
"I have seen many types of neglect over my years, some is for no choice with game and supplies being scarce. Some have been neglected on purpose for whatever self serving reason is on the heart.
But this, this is calculated, it is as if who ever kept him was trying to keep him from having any but the least amount of nourishment. Just enough to keep him alive and in that sense docile. The abuse that the prince has lived through, his bone structure is a map of pain and suffering."
He went silent.
"I would be honored if when you find his capture if I am allowed to have fifteen minutes with him."
He looked at the lord, Sesshomaru nodded.
"He will been ravenous for some time now, I will tell the kitchen to make sure he has a more than the usual serving. And it will not be unusual for him to want to escape out side. It is not strange for inuyoukai to want to be near nature. Your great grandfather built this structure to live in tandem with nature not conquer it. It is natural to all youkai. His captor kept him underground and away from the things he needs to be near.
I will be checking in on him regularly, if he shows any symptoms that are suspicious contact me immediately.”
The healer walked away muttering murderous plans under his breath.
The healer had been close to InuYasha before he disappeared, most often than not he would find the hanyou before anyone else did. Though, it was suspected the hanyou would find the healer first. Sesshomaru had not cared at the time. Because he found the pup a nuisance. And often cursed his frail mother in his mind for leaving the hanyou behind. But, after he had accepted that the hanyou was missing, he began to regret his thoughts and actions from that time.
He turned back to the room, panic shot through him when he looked to the bed and found InuYasha not there. He felt relief replace the panic as he noticed InuYasha on the balcony look out over the edge. He remembered how he had been basically conned into letting the hanyou leave the room and go out into one of the gardens. He'd already made a decision that InuYasha would not be aloud to leave the castle grounds until they found his captor.
He rang for a servant.
"Go see about some clothing for InuYasha."
The servant bowed and rushed off to find some thing fit for a prince to wear.
"We can't have him wandering about in his sleeping clothing."
He watched his little brother lose himself to the world out side the room. Yes, he'd planed on keeping InuYasha in the room a while longer, but it made him feel no better than his captor. With him wanting to be outside, he looked to Tokai.
"The rest of my work will have to wait, I am going to take my brother for a walk."
His adviser nodded, happy to see Sesshomaru taking more of an interest in the hanyou this time around.
The Raven and fox stayed a good distance behind them, he'd noticed the caution in his lord since his baby brother had returned. He'd also been surprised the hanyou had been let out so soon after returning. He smiled a little as the the prince sat down after becoming so excited with everything around him.
"He's going to pass out." the fox said under his breath
"Nearly 200 years stuck underground, you'd be excited to be out also."
The fox glance over his shoulder.
"My ancestors lived in holes in the ground."
The raven grinned.
"But they didn't trap themselves there."
"Not unless the were stupid." The fox grumbled.
They remained silent as the hanyou lay down in a sunny spot on the grass and began to doze.
Sesshomaru sat on a bench in the shade of a nearby tree and watched his brother.
The fox looked at the raven, who was looking out into the more unseen part of the garden.
"You don't like how easy this was either."
The raven shook his head.
"No,I don't think of easy but it may have been pure luck. There has to be more to this, than a sick one keeping a child prince as sex slave. Though, in my time I have known some to want nothing but lower royalty for pleasure slaves. But, there was much that didn't make sense, like all those empty rooms, I've rarely know anyone who has only one pleasure slave, normally where you find one, you find many."
The fox remained silent.
"There are still lords who have pleasure slaves?"
The raven chuckled.
"Yes, they just don't advertise it. It is considered a bit of faux pas, in this day and age."
The fox remained silent.
He watched the two brothers, as the older of the two woke his younger sibling, to bring him back inside out of the sun. Most likely out of concern that the hanyou would get sunburned. He smiled a little at the horrible irony that would be since the boy craved to be in the sunlight so badly.
-------------------------------------------------------------
The next week was spent either laying in one of the many gardens or eating unusual amount of the raw meat. Where ever the young hanyou was you usually found the lord of the western lands. He'd explored most of the gardens in the royal wing by the end of the week, except for one. It was one everyone suspected the hanyou had been hiding in just before he disappeared.
InuYasha seemed to be avoiding it at all costs, which raised a few eyebrows considering it was once his favorite.
Sesshomaru sat in his study looking through old scrolls, he was looking at the defenses that helped keep his family safe for generations. It was unlikely but perhaps there where some that needed to be set again. Toshi had been left in the room with his eating, and now he imagined, sleeping brother. Much like a new pup, his brother ate his fill and then would fall into a sated slumber. A ritual he himself remembered from when he was much younger.
A knock sounded at the door which pulled Sesshomaru from his thought on the wards of protection all over the castle.
The healer stood before him, the wide smile on his face.
"His appetite has not waned." Sesshomaru said.
The healer nodded and took a seat before his lord.
"It will not for awhile his body needs to develop, it is well behind what it should be and in turn has kept his mind in certain factor much like a young pup."
Sesshomaru sat back.
"He is still a pup."
The healer nodded.
"But not for long, I talked to those who helped retrieve your brother and I noticed that most of the rooms you came across where empty."
Sesshomaru nodded.
"I wondered about that."
The healer leaned forward.
"I think whoever had made that place was about to leave it for good."
The Daiyoukai nodded, the same thought had occurred to him, the only other question was, was the captor going to leave InuYasha there, or was he just the last thing he was going to transport out of that place. He'd bothered to build that place but there wasn't any idea whether it was to house the kidnapped hanyou or for other reasons.
His mind turned back to the healers previous statement.
"What do you mean not for long?"
The healers smile widened.
"He shall not be a puppy for long? He is to be coming of age is he not, is entering his middle teens and so he will no longer be a pup. We will be finding out whether he will be an alpha or beta. "
Sesshomaru frowned.
To have missed so much of his brothers life, yes once it was found whether he was an alpha or a beta, many would be sending candidates for mates for his little brother. Even though the hanyou was nothing more than a pup mentally. He had a problem with this, his own father had denied many such proposals, choosing to let Sesshomaru decide on his own whom he would be mated to. And in that moment Sesshomaru decided to follow in his fathers footsteps.
"I haven't received any proposals yet, so it must not have gotten out that InuYasha is back."
The healer leaned back.
"Well, you did make it clear that you did not want the young price bothered until he adjusted to being back here. Your servants understand what your temper can be like when you are not respected."
Sesshomaru nodded.
"He will be coming of age, but you can not tell whether a child will be alpha or beta until this time."
The healer nodded following his lord train of thought.
"What if whoever this was, was trying to make sure that InuYasha was beta."
The healer said.
"It would go along with the thought that the captor was planning on moving him to another location. He's already kept your brother as submissive as possible."
Sesshomaru rolled up the scroll before him.
"But it wouldn't matter, even if he beat him for 500 more years, if InuYasha is supposed to be dominate he will be, but I can see him wanting the boy in a different location."
He nodded.
"Yes, he wanted to find out what he would be and then the prince would be present as mated before you."
Sesshomaru looked out the window.
"I would have no choice but to give my brother and his mate the allotted lands, left to InuYasha by father if he should choose to mate."
Luken nodded.
Sesshomaru leaned his head back concentrating on the activity he could hear below the study window. There were youkai moving about in their daily duties of keeping his castle in order and clean. It all happened as he wished it never a thought unto himself on how it was to be done. Much like the livestock that was cared for or the fields that where plowed.
He learned young that most of those who would throw themselves at his feet for mating did not think of actually being a beta. They wished for the honor of the title of being mate to the Lord of the Western lands, they wished for the power he held and the army that marched at his command.
He'd been very confused by his father taking InuYasha frail human mother, but he'd seen the look on his fathers face when he gazed at her, and when InuYasha came to be in her womb. There was a strange change in his father, some thing he did not understand, and still didn't completely even now.
He understood now that InuYasha's mother did not run to his father for power or his army, she had been intrigued by his father, by facets for him that as his son Sesshomaru could not see and understand. He knew his father wanted this for him, and for InuYasha.
He looked up at Luken, but the youkai was gone. Having left without disturbing his own thought's. He had a sudden strong urge to be near his little brother. He stood after placing the scroll in a locked cupboard. He was halfway to the private wings when he noticed Toshi standing at the entrance of the garden near their rooms. He had a gentle smile on his face as he looked out. Sesshomaru joined him curious in what he was observing.
InuYasha was sitting in the shade with Kohame, holding a scroll in his lap, the raven was pointing to words on the scroll and then up at the various trees in the garden. Showing InuYasha by scroll and reality what each tree was and meant to the inuyoukai race. Toshi looked up at his lord.
"They've been at it for some time now, he woke a little while ago hungry, and then with a hunger for some fresh air."
Tokai placed his hand in his sleeves of his top.
"I couldn't deny him, and the raven appeared, with the scroll and began to show him the trees."
Sesshomaru turned and looked at the Fox watching them with emotionless eyes.
"Santus" Sesshomaru said.
The fox looked up instantly attentive.
"Have you noticed the small garden my brother will not go into?"
Santus nodded.
"I would like you to investigate it, though my brother does not remember his life here before he went missing, I think he instinctively knows there is something amiss there. I have a suspicion that is where my brother was taken from. I need to know how."
Santus gave small smile.
"Yes, my lord."
Toshi watched the fox go, and turned back to the hanyou and the lessons the raven was teaching him.
"I want the guard doubled around my brother, they are not to be intrusive to my brother, he will not understand it. But he must not be vulnerable to this fiend again."
Tokai looked at his lord waiting for more information if it was to come. Sesshomaru explained what he and the healer came to a conclusion of. Toshi thought on this.
"It would make sense my lord, may I make a suggestion?"
Sesshomaru nodded.
"You wish the young master to make his own decision yes, but what if this youkai still has some control over him, and can make him chose him as a mate?"
Sesshomaru watched his brother hand the scroll back to the raven and the boy jumped on to the lower branch of the tree they had been sitting under. He was pointing at something up in the branches. The raven was looking and agreeing with whatever he was saying. He noticed that InuYasha was still a little shaky in his movements, but the longer they left him in nature each day the more sure of his footing he was becoming.
"True." Sesshomaru said.
"I was looking through the ancient scrolls and though the act is considered arcane, it is something inuyoukai of royal blood used to do to daughters and sons, so that they would follow through with arranged marriages. In the early days when we where still more taken by instinct rather than honor."
Tokai looked at this lord in question.
"It is a minor form of bonding, it was also used when a mate, is killed or dies to keep the new mate from killing the formers offspring."
Toshi looked back out at InuYasha.
"I didn't know inuyoukai mated more than once."
Sesshomaru smiled a little as his brother hopped down from the branch to ask the raven more questions about some thing noted on the scroll.
"They did a long time ago, when there where more seeking royal status and strong fertile mates. Time has changed us, we now seek a lifetime with a mate, we still seek strength in our mate and fertility. But, it is different, as my father used to say. When he was mated to my mother it was because the mating was decided before he could even walk. "
He was watching his brother slow down a bit and knew the hanyou would need another nap soon.
"I have sent for a sage, your brother in fact. I need to know what his captor used to make InuYasha forget his beginnings."
Sesshomaru sighed.
"He hasn't asked to see his mother's grave not once."
Toshi remember the boy constantly asking anytime he reappeared to go to his mother's grave. The hanyou's mother had been his everything as a pup. Now he'd not mentioned it once.
Sesshomaru moved forward
"I don't want to do him harm by doing something that can cause him more spiritual pain than he is in already."
They approached the two.
The raven looked up at the Daiyoukai.
"I am afraid that will be the end of our lesson for today Prince InuYasha."
The hanyou looked disappointed.
"Come InuYasha, you need a little rest before dinner."
InuYasha looked up at his brother and pouted a little.
He stood and bowed a little to the raven.
"Thank you for teaching me."
The raven nodded.
Sesshomaru put an arm around his shoulder and led him back to his room, where they would rest for a bit this afternoon until evening meal.
Toshi looked at the raven.
"You might want to go to the small hidden garden, your fox was sent there to look for a trap of some kind and he looked all too eager."
The raven smiled.
"He enjoys such challenges.”
He stood scroll in hand and walked out of the garden, Tokai followed soon after he needed to go and double the guard on InuYasha.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sesshomaru had never really been one for naps unless he was thoroughly exhausted. But, the hanyou that lay against him had a great deal to catch up on. They had done well to assume his body would know what he needed now that he was in an environment that allowed him to have such things freely. Most of the time it was just understanding what the hanyou needed since he rarely said anything.
InuYasha was watching Sesshomaru, he said they were brothers, which made him feel safe inside. This was a feeling he did not remember having but it was familiar all the same. He could not maintain distrust as he had with master and those he kept in his employment.
He was feeling drowsy as he listened to the heart beat of his brother under his ear.
"I like it here."
He said in the soft voice he always used when he did speak. Sesshomaru looked down at the silver hair and drooping ears atop his brothers head.
"I get to be outside as much as I like, I'm not afraid. There is none here that want to do things to me. Master said I was liking them, but they didn't feel right."
Sesshomaru had to keep a growl from rumbling out of him, he learned that this would make the hanyou clam up and distress.
Instead he touched the soft hair that was slowly growing from the hanyou head, petting him after a fashion.
"I want to tell you something important InuYasha."
The sleepy golden eyes looked up at him.
"That creature whoever he is, is not your master."
The hanyou bit his lip and looked out the window.
"But, that is all I know to call him."
Sesshomaru rubbed circles at the base of the soft ears. He could think of several vile things to call him but need a way to make his little brother understand.
"Youkai, hanyou or man many may be a master to you InuYasha. Our father was a great ruler and had hopes for both of us."
He thought about it and uttered words that hurt him to think about at one time.
"He adored you, even though the only time he ever laid eyes on you was moments before he died and only a few moments after you where born."
Sesshomaru suddenly felt an ache in him, much different from the one he'd felt after hearing of his fathers death saving his human wife and half breed son. It was an ache of not seeing his little brother as an infant. As if by not acknowledging the hanyou had kept apart of his father's spirit from being able to love his son more fully. Something Sesshomaru had always had as a child, but the hanyou had been forced to live with his mother's family and know their distaste and hatred.
Tokai always would bring it up at the most opportune times, which would earn him a look of distaste from the Daiyoukai. In which his adviser would easily ignore, in retrospect he should have know that Tokai would be somewhat immune to his looks of death since the adviser had endured his fathers.
He was about to say more about the affection their father had for both of them. When he noticed the hanyou had grown still, his eyes remained in the direction of the window but he was not seeing it.
"InuYasha?"
He said softly continuing to caress his hair.
"But, he said no one wanted me."
Sesshomaru felt his body tense at the child like tone in his brothers voice.
"He said he would take me to wonderful place where everyone wanted me."
The hanyou had started to tremble.
"Who, InuYasha, told you this?"
Sesshomaru said softly afraid he'd loose this chance at answers.
InuYasha shook his head.
When Sesshomaru tried to pull him close the hanyou shrieked startling the Daiyoukai, the hanyou scooted away from his brother falling off the bed and smacking his head on the table off to the side. He kept moving until he'd reached a corner, at which point he curled up covering his face with his arms.
The guard including the raven all sword drawn where in the room moments after the shriek was heard. Sesshomaru held up his hand halting them. The raven followed this lord gaze to the corner where the hanyou sat trembling. Mumbling something to himself.
"Out" said the Raven firmly the guard didn't have to be told twice.
The Raven sheathed his swords., and stood watching the boy.
Sesshomaru approached the hanyou slowly, and knelt before him.
He finally heard what the boy was whispering.
"I want to go home."
Over and over again it was becoming a mantra, he began to wonder how long it had been before his little brother forgot where home was, his mother, his brother everything that had been even slightly comforting.
"InuYasha, I promise you are home."
The hanyou peeked from behind his crossed arm atop his knees.
"Do you remember who I am?"
Sesshomaru was shocked to see the frighten eye of the young pup InuYasha looking at him the flattened ears against his silver hair.
He nodded quickly.
He heard the door open again but refused to loose eye contact with his sibling.
"Lord Sesshomaru" he heard the Luken say.
"You are extruding confusion, the pup is feeling that, he won't let you near him as long as he feels that, your confusion is his. You're an elder youkai."
Sesshomaru took a deep breath and calmed himself and let his scent change gently to safety, strength, he understood and was naturally not putting it out to quickly or too strong. The pup that InuYasha was at this moment wouldn't understand that, but this gentle scent would relax and would penetrate InuYasha's instinct in a way his words could not.
He felt hope over take him when the puppy ears rose a little bit as his scent grew stronger. InuYasha slowly uncurled and sniffed the air. He moved cautiously to Sesshomaru who was waiting with open arms. It may have only taken a minute for the hanyou to reach him but it felt like hours, before the pup crawled onto his lap. He would have thought InuYasha too big to fit so well, but he wasn't. He sat on the floor holding his little brother giving a comforting growl as he rocked the hanyou to sleep.
The ravens eyes scanned the room constantly as the healer sat watching the two brother together.
"He is asleep Lord Sesshomaru, you should move both of you to the bed for comfort." the healer said.
Sesshomaru got up slowly and carefully so as to not wake InuYasha in his arms. He moved them both onto the bed. The hanyou had latched on to him, making it a little more difficult, but he finally had them both comfortable and settled onto the bed.
"What happened?" the healer asked softly
Sesshomaru explained how InuYasha seemed to be remembering somethings about his captor, how he'd been lured away. And what had happened before he panicked and pulled himself into the corner. The healer looked thoughtful for a few moments.
"He has no reason not to believe you, just as when he was lured away he also didn't have a reason not to believe whom ever captured him. Until it was shown it was a lie. Only with you my lord, he senses the safety and the belonging that being with family brings about. So perhaps that it what brought out the hidden memories of the pup he was when he was taken."
InuYasha nuzzled closer.
"He will remember now?"
Sesshomaru asked.
"Perhaps, perhaps not. This degree of abuse is new to me, most kidnappers try to endear the prisoner to them in some fashion and that is what was used to lure the pup out. But the facade was not maintained, perhaps your father's bloodline and what has shown to be was feared so they abused him trying to break him to keep him from the more dominate part of his personality."
The healer looked sad.
"I hate to think of the young prince alone some place just wanting to come back."
Sesshomaru looked down at the sleeping hanyou.
"He didn't know to howl, it is instinct to know that that would have brought me to him."
It was a basic each pup learned, when in distress howl.
The healer wanted Sesshomaru to understand the mistakes he made but at the same time didn't wish more pain to befall his lord.
"They kept him underground my lord, the captor may have known you would have come running."
He paused thinking.
"I would like your permission my lord, you are sending for a sage. My grandfather and my father where blessed with power for such. I was not but I know of some item that will be needed, for the sage to give proper answers for some of your questions. I would like to send a small group to retrieve what they can from that place if anything is left."
Sesshomaru nodded caressing his brothers hair, he looked at the raven.
"You can find the proper men for such a mission."
The raven bowed.
The healer bowed also.
"I must take my leave I wish to prepare some thing in case the young prince is prone to panic when he wakes. I will want to examine his head short after he does."
Sesshomaru gave nod.
---------------------------------------------------------
The raven walked beside the healer.
"You are not a sage?"
The healer smiled.
"No, only one in a generation is blessed with such powers. Our lord has sent for my brother as a matter of fact."
The ravens black eyes bored into the healer.
The healer laughed and patted the raven on the shoulder.
"Those eyes of yours are weapons I am sure of it." he chuckled "My mother was a healer and she was quiet proud that I was blessed with the powers. I came to work for our lord's father, probably out of spite for my father and grandfather wanting me to play second fiddle to my brother. They always felt being a sage was more important than a healer."
He shrugged
"It is the way of things, when the lord of the western lands sent out call for a healer, I felt I would be free if I was taken on here. It was far enough away from home, and my mother encouraged me to follow my heart as she liked to say. I was surprised when the Daiyoukai took me on. But, it pretty much cemented my loyalty to him and his family."
"Have you been home since?" the raven asked.
"No,never been tempted, my mother visits here every once and again, she travels, she was always the type."
The Raven and the Healer stopped at the hidden garden.
The fox was knelt still he was gazing into some over grown floor beds.
"It's here," he said almost too low to hear " I can feel it, but it's not meant for me so it is hard."
Santus stayed perfectly still.
"I will find you."
