What's A Dragon to Do?

Chapter 3

Ah Un flew to the castle and reached it shortly after sunrise. They watched Jaken chase Rin as she ran to them. Ah lifted the kit from his back and handed him over to Rin and Un handed Jaken the scroll their lord wrote.

Jaken unrolled the scroll that the dragon had given him. He carefully read over what his lord had written and if the mark at the bottom was not his lords he would have thought it some prank or something.

"What's the meaning of this? Why would Lord Sesshoumaru want me to care for the kit? Surely he could have just left him with Inuyasha." Jaken looked to Ah Un and back to the kit. "I wonder what's wrong with the kit? Surely he should be awake. Maybe my Lord did something to the bothersome pest to keep him quiet."

Why must my lord always treat his loyal retainer in such a manner? Am I only good to my master as a babysitter to humans and orphaned youkai's?

"Master Jaken what is Shippou doing here? Is Lady Kagome coming to visit us?" Rin held Shippou carefully she didn't want to harm him. Which was a little difficult to do because he was almost as big as she was.

"You don't know what you are talking about Rin. Lord Sesshoumaru wouldn't let that human inside his castle. Why would he want another smelly human here?" He turned and headed for the doors of the castle. "The kit can stay with you till he awakes, hurry up Rin I have a lot to do besides deal with a stupid smelly human child like you. You may stay in your room until I finish my chores then I will retrieve you for supper."

Rin held Shippou closer to her and hurried after the imp. Why did master Jaken have to treat her so bad? She had never done anything bad to him. Well not too bad at least. I know that he just needs to boss someone around and without Lord Sesshoumaru here he always mistreated her. He would never do so in front of Lord Sesshoumaru.

But he made up for the times that she got him in trouble with the Lord when Lord Sesshoumaru disappeared. He would call her names and hit her with his staff. He would never leave any marks so Rin didn't have any proof to show Lord Sesshoumaru.

And she didn't want to make the Lord mad. A mad Lord was not a pleasant sight. He was really scary when he got mad. Rin would hide when that happened. And it never took long for the Lord to calm down. Rin looked up and saw Jaken swinging his staff at her because she was dawdling.

She jumped out of the way of his staff and righted Shippou in her arms as she almost dropped him and then ran with Shippou to her room. She would make sure that the smelly imp didn't hurt the small kitsune. She would make Lady Kagome proud of her by protecting her kit. Even if she never found out that I had done it.

She didn't want to get Master Jaken in trouble. She laid Shippou down on her bed and lay down beside him. She petted his fur and watched over the cute kit. Hopefully he would awake soon.

Ah Un watched the imp chase Rin into the castle. He would be back but right now he had to return to Sesshoumaru and Kagome. He hurried to the cave where he had left them.

He found them undisturbed it would take a very strong youkai to break his barrier. So they weren't to worried about their lord being harmed while in the cave since he was the strongest youkai that they knew. But none the less they didn't want to leave him alone too long. They walked up to the orb and both lowered their heads.

Sesshoumaru watched the dragon enter the cave minus the kitsune on their back. So the kitsune must now be safely back at his castle. He watched the dragons lower their head and the scenery inside the orb started changing. He could no longer see the dragon. The emptiness of the orb was now a great forest.

With all the sounds and scents of a real one. He watched as grass appeared under him and Kagome and a bright blue sky appeared above them. Complete with clouds. How could his weak dragon be capable of this? He saw a shadow heading toward him and he stood in front of Kagome as it came closer. Sesshoumaru watched as the humanoid image of Ah and Un appeared before him.

"We hope that this better suits you My Lord." Ah looked around the orb. It was much better than the empty void that it had been earlier.

"My castle would suit me better than this fake forest would. Turn me and the girl loose now and I will make your death a quick one." Sesshoumaru growled at the images in front of him.

"We can't do that yet My Lord. Till today we have never spoken to anyone. We have watched you live your life alone for many centuries. Many demonesses have tried to get you to mate them but you ignored them all. You never showed any interest in anyone until the human that ran with your brother appeared. But you constantly tried to destroy her and your brother.

Before long we came to the conclusion that the only reason you fought so hard was due to the fact that you didn't want to appear as weak as you considered your sire. But anyone who truly knew your sire would tell you that it was his love for life and his mates were what made him strong. We know why you constantly fought with your brother and why you joined him to battle that hanyou Naraku.

It was to make your brother stronger so he could protect Kagome. And that is why you ordered me to protect her during the final battle. We knew then that you were interested in her. You may deny it to yourself but can you continue to deny it to your heart? Until you are ready to admit what this girl means to you we will not release you from our spell.

And as for the fake forest everything in our domain is very real. We leave you now she is about to wake up and we suspect you will be busy trying to explain everything to her." Ah and Un turned to leave the orb.

"I will just kill her now. Then you will have to release me from this prison that you made." Sesshoumaru turned toward the girl and raised his claw to strike her.

Ah and Un turned to watch their lord try to kill the human. They couldn't do anything to stop him. So they just watched.

Sesshoumaru brought his hand down and right before it reached Kagome it stopped. His claws couldn't get close to her. He stood up straight and glared at his dragon.

"Why can I not touch her?"

"You can touch her but you can not harm her while in our orb. Do you think we would not have thought of you trying that? We know you well Lord Sesshoumaru. The only thing you will be able to kill in this orb is food and on the off chance of a demon getting in here them also. That is it." Ah and Un turned and disappeared.

Sesshoumaru watched the figures disappear then turned to Kagome. He leaned against a tree and waited for her to wake up. Like Ah had said it wasn't long before she stirred. He watched her wearily sit up and place a hand to her head. Then she spotted him and he winced as she screamed.
