Once again the morning light crawls into Kagome’s room to reveal it blue and gold design, but along with it comes a demon lord…
Sesshoumaru slowly open the shoji door to Kagome’s room to find that she is still asleep behind the sheer canopy covers of the bed. Quietly he shut the door behind him as he enters the room. He slowly walked up to the bed that held the young miko and pulled back one of the curtains. His golden eyes look over the sleeping maiden taking in her beauty. Her face was stained from the tears she had cried, but even so her body seemed to glow in the morning sun. He reaches out to move a small strand of hair from her face and tuck it behind her ear.
“This could destroy her. I’ve seen what a broken heart can do....it is just like when my father mated with that human, it nearly destroyed my mother. She ended up dying of depression and not to long after my father died in a battle. I will not allow her to go through the same pain; besides I need her to kill Naraku… he will pay for taking away what is mine. My baka brother’s life was mine to take,”Sesshoumaru thought to himself. He then tried to convince himself “I only need this wench to control the shikon no tama and nothing else. I do not care about her and never wil....l”

Taking one last look at the young women before him he turned to leave the room, but he did not get too far, before he heard the soft whisper, “Sesshoumaru?”
The demon lord his gold orbs turned to look into those of sapphire. In her eyes he could see unshed tears
“Yes,”came his soft reply as he moved back to the spot where he was only a few seconds ago.
“Thank you, for saving me,” Kagome replied as she sat up in her bed.
He gave are small nod in response.
“How may I repay you?”
“You can do two things. First task I ask of you is to be Rin’s playmate. The second task I ask of you is to help me kill Naraku.”
“I will do as you ask, but I’m afraid I only know how to fight with a bow and arrow.”
“I will train you.”
Kagome nodded and then asked, “Why do you want to kill Naraku?”
“He has tried to use and control me and he has taken a life that was only mine to take.”
“Inuyasha,” Kagome whispered as tears threaten to flow from her eyes.
The smell of salt assaulted Sesshoumaru’s demon nose and knew that Kagome was about to cry. Sesshomaru cupped her chin with his right hand as he leaned down to look into her eyes.
“Don’t cry over his death. If you care so much about him, then prove that he did not die in vain.”
Kagome looked up a Sesshoumaru stunned at what he just said. In a round about way he just tried to comfort her. Sure his words were harsh, but the words held a concerned tone. Using his thumb Sesshomaru slowly wiped away her tears and then gave the miko a rare but very small smile before he turned to leave. Kagome started in awe as she watched him leave her room “Hey just smiled at me... he actually smiled....
After Sesshoumaru left and Yume entered the room only a few seconds later.
“Good morning, my lady.”
Yume got no response from Kagome.
“My lady... Kagome...,”Yume said softly as she waved her hand in front of Kagome’s face.
“Good morning, Yume,” Kagome replied as finally realized that Yume was standing in front of her. Slowly got out her bed and saw that Yume’s brown hair was once again pulled up into a bun with chopsticks and that she still wore a simple black kimono.
“My lady are you alright?”
“Yes...um... he just smiled at me.”
“Oh... is see why you would be in shock that is a very... very rare thing to see.”
“Yes... he looks handsome when does smile.”
“I’m sure he does my lady, but i have never seen it personally.”
“Oh...”
“Well my lady, would you like to bathe and put on a new kimono?”
“Yes”
As it happened on the first day that Kagome awoke in this castle Yume took her to the bathing house. Once Kagome was clean she put on a new kimono that Yume had brought for her. This kimono was completely black except for the gold sakura blossoms that adorned her left shoulder, on the hem of her left sleeve, on the bottom on the kimono as well as on her black obi. Yume, as she had done the day before, pulled Kagome’s hair up into a bun, but this time the chopsticks where gold that had black swirls pained upon it and black tear drop gems hanging off the ends.
“Thank you Yume. I think I remember how to get to the dining room for breakfast, but if you wish to walk with me you can,” Kagome quickly told the neko youkai.
“I would enjoy that,” Yume simply replied.
Both females walked down the hallway and on the way Kagome began to ask Yume questions.
“Yume how long have you been working for Sesshoumaru-sama?”
“For the last 210 years.”
“Wow.”
“He has been very kind to me. My other master use to beat me and rape me. He also never allowed the servants to wear anything other than old pieces of ripped clothing. Sesshoumaru at the time was trying to get control the entire west. There was also a South West and North West Lords. The southwest lord agreed to Sesshoumaru being the leader of the west, and that he only wished to a protector of that area, the northwest lord, my master, disagreed and challenged Sesshoumaru-sama. Sesshoumaru won when he killed my master. Sesshoumaru then appointed a new protector of the North went lands. I wanted to thank Sesshoumaru from freeing me from such a terrible master and offered to become his servant.”
“So you know a lot about Sesshoumaru-sama?”
“No. I only know that the legendary cold hearted Sesshoumaru is fierce in battle and should be feared. But if you serve him well, he, in return, will treat you well.”
“What about Rin?”
“She has been living with Sesshoumaru for about 2 years now. She loves to run though the flower fields as well as picking many flowers to give to Sesshoumaru. But most of all she loves Sesshoumaru like a father.”
The two females had reached the dining room doors. Kagome smiled at Yume and thanked her for walking with her before opening one of the huge marble doors.
Once inside Kagome saw Rin waiting patiently for her at the table.
“Hello Rin”
Rin jumped out of her seat and ran to hug Kagome’s leg. Kagome smiled at the young child as she wrapped around her legs. Once Rin let go, she grabbed Kagome’s hand. The two walked hand in hand towards the table. Once seated at the table Kagome realized that Rin was wearing a red kimono with black leaves adorning her shoulder and the hem of her right sleeve.
“How are you doing?”
“Rin is good Rin is glad to see that you are doing better ”
Rin continued to talk through breakfast. Kagome could only smile at the young girls chatter.
“Lady Kagome,” called a sweet female voice from behind Kagome.
Kagome turned around to see Yume was standing in the doorway to the dining room.
“Hello Yume”
“Lord Sesshoumaru would like to see you in the Dojo after you change into our miko clothes.”
Kagome nodded and then turned to look back at Rin and smiled. “Rin, I’ll see you later.”
A smile appears on Rin’s face from ear to ear as she looked at the woman before her.

Dojo….
Kagome, now wearing the traditional red and white miko garb, slowly opens the shoji doors to the Dojo. Standing on the other side of the room is Sesshoumaru. His eyes quickly look over the miko before him, who bows slightly before entering the room. Kagome closes the shoji door behind her before speaking to the majestic and yet dangerous creature before her.
“You wished to see me, Lord Sesshoumaru?”
“Yes, I will train you using many different types of weapons, including swords, daggers, and staffs. I will also teach you how to fight in hand to hand combat, if the situation should ever call for it.”
“I understand.”
“You already know how to use a bow and arrow, correct?”
“Correct”
“Let’s see how good your aim is, follow me.”
Sesshoumaru turns around and opens a shoji door that is adjacent to him. With the door open an archery field is revealed. Kagome slowly walks behind the lord until he stops and picks up a bow made out of maple wood and arrows, which has colorful green feathers in the end, and hand them to Kagome.
“Hit the target,” Sesshoumaru directs as he point towards an archer target.
Kagome quickly strung up one of the arrows in the bow and then let the arrow fly into the sky. The arrow zipped through the air and hit its mark.
“Do it three more times,” commanded Sesshoumaru.
Kagome quickly replied and soon three more arrows were notched into the target on the red dot.
“Very good”
Sesshoumaru turned and walked back into the training room. Kagome followed him back into the room and closed the shoji door behind her.
“Choose any weapon,” Sesshoumaru demanded as he looked at a wall adorned with swords, dagger, staffs, axes and many other weapons.
Kagome looked over every weapon until she came upon a small dagger that had a blue gems outlining the hilt.
“This one,” Kagome replied as she picked up the dagger and turned to show Sesshoumaru her choice. One of Sesshoumaru’s silver eyes brows rose upon seeing the dagger.
“What? Did I make a bad choice?”
“No. That dagger was a gift to my mother. A miko and monk had made it for her after she had saved them from some low level youkai. It was my mother’s favorite dagger.”
“Oh, I never knew…I’ll put it back,” Kagome replied as she turned to face the wall.
“No, keep it...... Consider it a gift.”
“But I could not accept this... it was your mothers i don’t know what i would every do if i should lost it.”
Before Kagome knew what happened Sesshomaru was a few inches in front of her. He
once again cupped her chin with his right hand and leaned down to look into her eyes.
“Do not worry, Kagome. It is yours and will only look at as an insult if you refuse to take it.”
“Thank you Sesshomaru. I am speechless,”
With a small smirk Sesshomaru released her chin “Now lets actually learn to use it.”
Soon Sesshoumaru was teaching Kagome how to use the dagger. Eventually they moved into working with swords and staffs.
Several hours later…
“That is enough for now.”
“Thank you, Lord Sesshoumaru”
“Keep your dagger in your obi. You never know when you might be attacked,” The youkai lord informed her as he handed her a small sheath to put the dagger in.
“Once again thank you, Lord Sesshomaru,”she replied as she took the sheath.
Without thinking Kagome moved to closer to Sesshomaru and getting up on her tippy toes she gave him a quick on his cheek before she turned to leave the Dojo.
Sesshomaru could only stare after as she walked away. As soon as she was out of side, he touched his cheek She just kissed me....

After Kagome took a shower and changed back into her black and gold kimono she joined Rin out in the castle garden. Upon seeing Kagome, Rin ran over and hugged the miko’s legs.
“Hey Rin, do you know how to make a crown out of flowers?”
“No, do you?”
“Yes, would you like me to show you?”
“Please, show Rin ”
“Ok well first we need to pick out some flowers that you want to use. Small flowers are better to use.”
Soon Rin was running around the garden picking out flowers she wanted to make her crown with as Kagome watched her.
Rin ran up to Kagome “Will these works?”
“Yes. Let’s go sit under the tree over there,” Kagome pointed to a weeping willow off in the distance.
Together the two girls walked hand and hand towards the tree, but as the walked a figure came closer to them.
“Kagome,” called a soft voice.
Kagome looked to see Kikyo walking towards her. Kikyo wore her traditional red and white miko garb and her hair was pulled back into a low pony tail. Her soul seekers glowed light blue as they swirled around her clay body. Instantly Kagome stood in front of Rin, blocking her from Kikyo’s view.
“Don’t worry my reincarnation. I just want to tell you something. I saw how…Inu…how he… how Inuyasha died,” Kikyo informed Kagome as a single tear fell down her cheek.
Kagome stood wide eyes at the walking dead miko before her.
“You what?”
