Scene 3
Forgive me if the characters seem a tad OOC, but it is springtime, lol. :o)

Scene 3 ------------------------------------------- That Night
* That evening Shippo watches hid behind a basket as Inuyasha takes his normal place on a wide branch of the sacred tree. When he is sure that Inuyasha is settled in he scampers over and scales up the trunk of the big, old tree to crawl onto Inuyasha's branch silently. He stays still, crouched a couple feet away, and bushes out his tail. His eyes, as sharp as the hanyou's in the dark, watch Inuyasha's nose twitch a couple times. He waits to see if Inuyasha will order him away. When he remains quiet Shippo musters up his courage again and goes over to crawl into Inuyasha's lap cautiously. He hears the hanyou sigh.
Inuyasha - What are you doing, Foxboy?
* Almost at the same time he speaks one of Inuyasha's hands moves to lay on the kit's head. Shippo braces himself, expecting to be extricated immediately and tossed to the ground. Two minutes pass, no movement. Four minutes, nothing. Shippo takes a cautious look up at the silver-haired half demon and is pleasantly surprised to find him sleeping soundly, his hand resting calmly on his side now. Shippo sighs quietly. Is this a good sign? He then snuggles closer to Inuyasha's body and gets his first good sleep in several days.
