When Two hearts beat as one

The morning came quickly for Rin,She got up off her bed and went to her window that stared directly out into the gardens.she took a look around her room and she saw what time it was so she hurried to her private bath.
'I hope I'm not late for there arrival' Rin thought while scrubbing her skin feverishly,she stepped out of the bath and dried her self with a towel,then she walked over to her Armour which held all of her garments,and picked out her most exquisite kimono which was red with gold butterflies and a black obi, she put the kimono on then she hurried out the door and down the the Front Hall.
Early this morning Sesshomaru awoke to his deep red room and blood red silk sheets, he got up and headed for his private bath, he soaked himself with rich oils found in the South.He sighed in contentment.
'today I have to show my affections for Rin infront of the lord and lady' "Ugh, I don't know what to do"Sesshomaru said slamming his fist on the sides of the tub.After regaining his composure her got out of the bath and grabbed a nearby towel and dried himself then he walked over to his Armour and took out his normal red and white hoari and hamaka.Sesshomaru walked down the stairs and down to the Front Hall, where he found Rin.
When Rin saw Sesshomaru she smiled but her smile was not of joy like it usually is it was a smile of sadness.
"Good morning Rin"Sesshomaru said walking towards her
"Good morning my lord"Rin said
"How did you sleep?"Sesshomaru asked
Before Rin got to answer a maid came in .
"My Lord, the Lord and Lady of The East are here they are asking for you to meet them at the front gate" the maid said sounding out of breath, Sesshomaru waved his hand dismissing the maid, he then walked over to Rin.
"Are you ready"Sesshomaru asked
"Yes"Rin said smiling at him
Sesshomaru offered Rin his arm, at this gesture Rin was in shock but she did take his arm after a moment.They walked into the courtyard to find Lord Takeshi and Lady Rumiko standing there with smiles on there faces.Rins eyes widen at the sight not of Lord Takeshi she had seen many dog demons but of Lady Rumiko,she was human.
'She's human! but how a great Lord and demon would never mate a human woman' Rin thought
Rin and Sesshomaru bowed and so did the other couple.
"Hello, Takeshi"Sesshomaru said a hint of smile playing on his lips"
"How have you been Sesshomaru?"Lord Takeshi said smiling
"As good as to be expected, How are you Rumiko?"Sesshomaru said
"I am fine Sesshomaru, and who is this Sesshomaru? Have you been holding out on telling us that you had taken a mate"Rumiko said
Sesshomaru was about to clarify but Rin had said it first" No, I am not Lord Sesshomaru's mate "Rin said sounding saddened by having to say those words out loud
"Oh, I am sorry I did not realize, but who are you if you are not his mate?"Rumiko asked suddenly very interested in who the girl was.
"I am Rin his ward"Rin suddenly felt tears filling her eyes"Please if you will excuse me"Rin said disentangling herself from Sesshomaru and bowing before she ran into the castle and up to her chambers.She opened the door and sat at the base of the door with the knees tucked under her chin and her head rested on her arms she cried silently not wanting anyone to know.
'How could she have made that mistake, I am nothing to him' She slowly feel asleep, having dreams of the future that in her mind would never happen.
Sesshomaru took Takeshi and Rumiko to the tea room where they could talk and catch up on old times.
"Sesshomaru how come you have not taken Rin as your mate?" Rumiko Asked taking a sip of her spiced tea
"Why would I take her as my mate?"
"Because it is oblivious that you have feelings for the girl"Takeshi said in a arrogant tone
"How do you know this?"Sesshomaru said his emotionless mask in place
"The look in your eyes every time she's in the same room as you"Rumiko said raising her eyebrow at him and giving him a smirk
"fine, Yes I do have feelings for Rin, you are going to keep this to yourselves"Sesshomaru said glaring at them
"Yes, Yes we will keep this between us old friend but what I don't understand is why you haven't taken her as you wife and mate, I have know you for many years now and it has been my understanding that you always get what you want and it is oblivious here that she is what you want"Takeshi said
"I do not want people to think that I'm going to be any different than I have ever been, I am the cold Ruler of The West and that is how I want it to stay"Sesshomaru said turning his back to the couple
"There is nothing wrong with taking Rin as your Wife and mate"Rumiko said pointing her finger at him in an accusing manor
"The next question is would she even except my offer"Sesshomaru asked putting his head down
"Ask her Sesshomaru it is the best thing for you and for her"Takeshi said
"Yes, I will ask her tonight"Sesshomaru said his lips lifting into an arrogant smirk
A knock awoke Rin
"Lady Rin,Lord Sesshomaru is waiting for you in the dinning Hall"a Maid said threw the door
"Yes, I will be there in a moment"Rin said Sleepily, but she got up fixed her attire and went down to the dinning Hall.When she arrived at the two huge doors, they were opened by two of the castle guards.When she stepped in she saw Sesshomaru sitting at the head of the table with Takeshi and Rumiko on his left, so she took her seat at the right of him.The food was delivered and they started eating, while Sesshomaru, Takeshi and Rumiko had conversations about there lands Rin stayed silent threw out dinner.
'Why am I sitting here it's not like anyone notices that I haven't said a word all evening especially him, why should anything change in our relationship, wait we don't even have a relationship, he doesn't love me as I do him my love was never meant to be'Rin thought twirling her chopsticks in her hand.
'why isn't Rin saying anything, she usually isn't like this'Sesshomaru thought looking over at Rin.
"if you will excuse me"Rin said getting up from the table and went to the gardens.
"Sesshomaru, she seems to be saddened by something"Rumiko said looking up at Sesshomaru
"It is something about me, I have asked her about it but she will not tell me, a couple of days ago we were in my study and she said something about her heart and mind being crushed"Sesshomaru said
'She was talking about me returning her feelings towards me'Sesshomaru thought
"Talk to her Sesshomaru"Takeshi said getting up from the table and then pulling out his wife's chair.
"I think for now we will retire, good night"Rumiko said
"Goodnight"Sesshomaru said
While Sesshomaru held his conversation with Rumiko and Takeshi, Rin wandered aimlessly threw the gardens.
' I don't know what to do anymore, maybe I should just be happy with my position in his life, but every moment I do not express me feelings and my feelings are not returned a little piece of me dies and in the the end there will be nothing left but a hollow shell that once held life, but maybe it is best that way for him at least'Rin thought as she picked up white lilies from the gardens many flowers, she walked towards the entrance to the castle the doors opened for her by the two guards standing watch, she nodded and walked to the front hall where she picked up a silver and green vase and put the lilies inside.Then Rin walked up to her chambers, when she opened the door she was met by a familiar figure.
