Chapter 1
Holding out for a Hero


“That’ll be twenty bucks,” The greasy taxi cab driver told Kagome as she stepped out of the cab.

She nodded her head a reached into her wallet pulling out a crisp twenty. She handed it to him through the passenger window and watched him speed off.

The guard at the door tipped his hat and opened the streak less glass door for her. She nodded her head to him and uttered a soft ‘thank you.’

On the wall directly across from the door a vast half circle reception desk sat between twin staircases that met at a central lading above. On the right and left walls were rows of shiny steel door elevators, four to each side.

Kagome walked to the receptionists desk and waited for the red headed receptionist to get off the phone.

“How may I help you,” The red head asked politely.

“I’m here for the audition I heard was supposed to be here,” Kagome answered.

“Oh my,” The receptionist gasped, “The auditions were yesterday,” She said sadly.

“Wait,” The receptionist said, “The guys are still here if you still want to try out.”

“But,” Kagome started.

“They haven’t picked the lead yet,” The red head interrupted.

Kagome shrugged and followed the receptionist to the elevator and watched her push the button for the fourth floor.

“This is it,” She told her as the doors opened. “It’s your first door on the right.”

“Thanks,” Kagome said stepping out of the elevator.

“No problem,” The receptionist replied before the elevator doors closed.

Kagome's heart was beating over time when she knocked on the black painted door.

“No,” Sesshomaru stated.

“Oh come on she’s perfect,” Inuyasha, Miroku, and Shippo all protested.

“You mean except for the fact that she can’t sing,” Rin pointed out.

“I will not have her lead us,” Sesshomaru stated plainly.

“It’s three against three,” Inuyasha said, “Who’s gonna break the tie,”

Sesshomaru opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by a knock at the door.

“What the hell do you want,” Inuyahsa barked out.

A pair of sapphire eyes peaked out from behind the door.

“It looks like you’ve scared her Inuyasha,” A man with short black hair pulled back in a dragons tail stated moving slowly towards the door.

“Shut the hell up you hentai, you just want to get on her good side so you can grab her ass,” Inuyasha stated. The man looked at him with a grin. “Your such a lecher Miroku,” Inuyasha told him rolling his golden eyes.

Kagome took a hesitant step into the room and closed the door behind her. She bowed low and muttered a soft “Konichiwa,” To all the people in the room.

“I’ve come to audition,” Kagome said keeping her eyes lowered to the ground.

“Auditions were yesterday, why didn’t you come then,” he asked her.

“The person I heard it from accidentally got the dates mixed up,” Kagome answered simply.

Sesshomaru opened his mouth to comment but was beat to it by his half brother.

“Why don't we see if she's any good since we can’t seem to agree on anyone else,”
He said earning nods from everyone else in the room.

“Very well,” Sesshomaru said.

“Arigato,” Kagome told him walking to the middle of the room and sitting down at the piano sitting a little bit off to the side. She adjusted the microphone

They were all caught by surprise when the girl began to sing.


‘He’s my brother, Come straight from my mother, He’s stronger than he thinks he is, let him know let him know,’

‘Wow,’ Miroku thought watching the young girl. He glanced over at his two best friends and was surprised to see them both as stunned as him.

‘I pray to God won’t he help him, Does he deserve this, I don’t know, At times he comes across selfish, But he aint a bad person this i know,’

‘She can sing,’ was the only coherent thought running through Inuyasha’s head. When she first entered he figured they had nothing to lose but he never expected this, He never expected her to have any talent.

‘His lies, his cheats, his stealing, Make me cry till i stop breathing, He’s simply lost his mind Lord, I’m asking you Lord, Will you help him find it?’

‘Very interesting,’ Sesshomaru ‘Not only can she sing, but she can do with emotion and while playing an instrument no less. She will be a good asset to this band.’

Sango nudged Rin lightly and jerked her head at the other members of their band. Rins jaw dropped when she saw the rest of the band including Shippo all totally entranced by this mystery girl.

“Well,” Sango said barely hiding a smile, “I think we’ve just found our new lead.”

Kagome’s head popped up when she heard this and she scanned the faces in the room while silently trying to slow her hearts rapid beating.

Inuyasha sighed and rolled his eyes, Sesshomaru

“Welcome,” A short dark haired female told her holding out a hand.

“Thank you....,” Kagome started.

“Rin,” The girl finished for her. “I’m Rin Tama, This is Sango Hirokotsu, Shippo Fox, Inuyahsa Takahashi and his older brother Sesshomaru,” Rin told her pointing to the other dark haired female, The short red head guy, The grumpy guy in red and finally the tallest man in the room.

Kagome politely bowed her head to each of them. When she looked up again her gaze was drawn to Sesshomaru like a magnet. ‘Damn,’ Kagome thought looking over him. From the top of his silver head, over a face that looked as if angels had carved it, down that perfectly well toned body that his button up shirt did nothing to hide, to the soles of his polished loafers.

Kagome could feel herself getting lightheaded just looking at him.

“Kagome,” Kagome said finishing her sentence for her.

“Yes, Kagome, we should break in Kagome,” Rin continued, “ See how wide her vocal range is and how good she is on stage.”

“Well lets get started then,” Miroku said leading the way out of the audition room and into an elevator. They descended down to the basement garage and approached a gleaming black Escalade.

Sesshomaru unlocked the drivers door and unlocked the rest from inside. The group piled into the car and amazingly Kagome ended up in the passenger seat.

She vaguely wondered why no one else had wanted to sit up here until she heard the lyrics of one of her favorite songs being sung softly next to her.

‘Summer has come and passed, The innocent can never last, Wake me

Kagome turned to look next to her. It was Sesshomaru singing, and he had a good voice from what she could hear.


‘Here comes the rain again, Falling from the stars, drenched in my pain again, Becoming who we are.’


She turned to look at the other passengers who were all unfazed by his singing and were chatting with each other. Kagome shrugged and decided to join him.

‘As my memory rests, But never forgets what i lost, wake me up when September ends, Summer has come and passed, The innocent can never last, Wake me up when September ends,’

Sesshomaru looked at the girl next to him as if he had just noticed she was sitting next to him. He continued singing with her, their voices harmonizing perfectly with each other.

The car had just become silent every person listening to the two voices in awe. ‘It took me and Sess almost a year and a half to get our voices to harmonize perfectly,’ Miroku thought to himself ‘And in less than an hour of meeting these two had achieved what took us months. Weird.’

‘Wow,’ Rin thought in shock. ‘We definitely picked the right girl,’

Applause filled the large vehicle and both Kagome and Sesshomaru looked at each other surprised.

A/N: there it is, the first chapter. If the characters seem a bit OOC (out of character) There supposed to. Please don't flame me for it because i portrayed them exactly as i wanted them. Don't like don't read.
