Is Naraku’s Last Curse a Blessing?

Inuyasha had informed her that it would take some time to get where they were going, so he suggested that she rest a little. She rested her head on his chest and felt his heart beat. ‘His heart it beats for me now and mine for him.’ she smiled as this thought crossed her mind. As she started to fall asleep he held her closer feeling the warmth of her happiness through their new link. ‘If this is a dream I never want it to end. I’ll keep running till the end of time just to stay with her. NO, I will fight time even after death to stay with her.’ the hanyou thought. He carefully jumped through the forest trying not to wake his sleeping love.

He laid her down as he placed the furs in their appropriate spot that they would soon go to after he explained. He picked her up again and carried her to the waters edge. He sat down with her in his lap and head against his chest. “Kagome wake up now, I have something to show you.” He said sweetly as he nuzzled her neck gently placing small kisses here and there. When she opened her eyes she was stunned. She was at a small lake (that anyone could swim a crossed). The sides were shallow but went deeper in the middle. The water was so clean that it seemed to shine purity in it’s crystal blue gaze. The lake was fed by a small waterfall, it was like the kind monk’s train in, yet it seemed to have a life. She saw an small stream opposite of the waterfall that sparkled as it reflected the stars light. “Inuyasha… oh! It’s so gorgeous here! Oh Inuyasha I just love it!” she said as she squeezed the arms that held her so lovingly. She turn and sat on her knees as she looked at the man she loved yet she noticed that his ears were moving . “Inuyasha what’s wrong?” “I smell Nuraku! No it’s not, it’s slightly different.” he quickly picked up Kagome and moved as a fire ball hit where they were. “Hahahaha! So you are quick.” laughed a woman’s voice. Then in the crater of the attack stood a woman that looked like KIKYO!

“Ki...ky…o. That can’t be Nuraku killed you.” Inuyasha said as he sent a feeling of love to Kagome through their new link which she happily returned. “Kagome put a barrier around yourself and stay here as I deal with this Kikyo fake.” “Fake! Inuyasha do you really love her more then me?” Kikyo asked. “YES!” Inu said with out hesitation and they all heard and felt the truth in it. “Fine I am a fake, but I do have Kikyo’s desire and a piece of her soul see.” A light went through her body and they could clearly feel Kikyo yet Kagome felt something else, a battle of souls that have yet to even pass on. She knew this feeling, what was it. In that moment Kagome remembered the Shikon Jewel as she did the necklace the fake wore shattered. “She has the Shikon Jewel!” Kagome yelled. “How? How did you break that spell?” the fake said in shock. Kagome could see it again yet she saw even more. She saw that Kikyo was keeping the jewel from being completely tainted by her fake. All in a moment Kagome was alone in a white mist. “You broke a spell not even I could break. I guess that you are stronger willed then I as well as more pure.” said an all too familiar voice. Kikyo was standing in front of her crying. Could this really be Kikyo? Yes it was Kagome could see it, but how? “It seems that you have tapped a power of a past life other than mine.” Kikyo said. “What do you mean?” Kagome pried. “You know of priestess that made the jewel correct?” Kagome nodded “She had a sister that had much more power yet the girl could not control it and was killed by a youkai of great power. In her final moments she said that in a future life she would be able to control it and that she would have a name that broke through time. You have crossed time and have the soul of this girl as I once did. Kagome listen to your heart and let me know what it is like to be at peace once more.” Kikyo broke into great sobs “Only a pure power of love can kill her. She feeds on demonic power do not let Inuyasha attack her! I know you have no love for me but please use that love you have for Inuyasha and release me! I beg of you!” Kagome heard Kikyo yell as she returned to reality once more.

“Inuyasha” she waited till he looked at her. They both knew something had happened but Inu did not know. “Inuyasha please let me fulfill the request Kikyo has given me.” Inuyasha waited a moment till he realized that Kagome was crying for Kikyo? Why would she? ‘Because, you baka, she has a pure heart.’ he thought to himself a he stepped back but not dropping his guard in case she needed him. He watched as Kagome walked up to the fake Kikyo deflecting all the attacks thrown at her.

“Kikyo you were wrong. I didn’t hate you but the fact that I might lose Inuyasha to you.” Kagome said as she walked up to the now unmoving girl that held a tormented priestess. “I will set you free Kikyo not for Inuyasha but for you to be at peace.” Kagome stated. It shocked Inuyasha to his core that his Kagome was saying this. The fake fell on her knees yelling for Kagome to stay away. Kagome sat went down on her knees and pulled the fake to her chest making calming noises. To Inuyasha’s surprise the incarnation disappeared leaving only Kikyo crying in Kagome’s arms. He could feel Kagome’s happiness as Kikyo finally let go and passed on in peace instead of in pain. “Thank you.” said Kikyo as she passed.

Inuyasha could smell salt water and realized Kagome was crying. He went to her holding her, telling her it was ok she had done a good thing, but Kagome merely cried. Inuyasha now scared not knowing why his mate was crying, he could only feel happiness from her. So why was she crying? Then he saw it the Shikon Jewel, she could go home now. He held her as tight as he dared not wanting her to go. When she looked up she started to walk away from him. “I want to stay with you even if you make your wish. But I need to say good bye to my family first. Ok?” all he could do was nod, then he realized there was sadness in her, a fear that he would change. He knew she wanted him to be happy no matter how it hurt her. ‘What will I do? I don’t want to be human, I couldn’t protect Kagome as a human. If I’m a youkai will I remember her? Kill her? Or merely keep her to mate?’ He decided and he would tell her. He ran to catch up to her and picked her up. “Did you forget the well is nowhere near here I’ll go with you and we’ll stay there for a while before WE decide what to do about the jewel.” Inu stated and Kagome smiled and held on to him.
