Dazed and Confused
Disclaimer: nope still aint mine......but that's not for lack of trying......
Sorry it took a little longer than I planned to get this chapter up. My computer had a little trouble connecting to the internet. Well, a lot of trouble. But all is well now! Please R&R! ^_^
Ch. 2: Dazed and Confused
InuYasha, who frozed still as a statue the second he glimpsed Kagome in his brother's grip and possitioned like a sheild, now stirred to life. "Kagome, are you alright?!"
"Yes, I think so....." To be perfectly honest, Kagome was suprised she was alive at all. 'I guess he wasn't planning on killing me after all. Or I'd BE dead.'
InuYasha smelt blood other than his own so he wasn't entirly convinced she was ok. He pulled her hair back and saw blood dripping down her neck from Sesshomaru's claws digging a little too far in. He was about to say something about it when Miroku called for their attention.
Laying in a bloody heap on the ground was Sango and Kirara. All the blood, however, was Kirara's. "No, no, no, no, no, NOOOOOO!! Kirara, hold on! Your gonna be ok, just stay with me!" Sango's voice was despret as she begged Miroku to save her.
"Sango, I know you don't want to hear this, but these wonds are beyond my capacity to heal as a monk.......There beyond anyone's..."
"NO! I DON'T BELIEVE YOU! Somebody can help her! SOMEBODY!....somebody...." She finished in a whisper and a sob. Kirara was breathing heavily and still loosing presious blood. "Can't you try?!"
"Yes, Sango, I'll try my best but we should get her back to the village where there's plenty of medicine."

By the time they got to Keada's hut (which took longer than normal because InuYasha had to carry Kirara carefully in her large form since they didn't know what changing small would do to her deep injuries) the sun was going down. It wasn't long before they had the cat all bandeged up. After that, there was nothing they could do. Everyone sat around just watching and wishing this didn't have to happen.
Sango looked toward Kagome with pleading eyes that looked as though they were searching for a last hope. "Surely your world with such strange, advanced medicines could have something to help her.....?"
Kagome felt so bad. She wasn't a vet but she knew when there was nothing left one could do. "I'm sorry Sango, I really am. Kirara was a friend to all of us. But even if there was something my world could do at this point, which I don't think there is, we couldn't do it. Kirara can't pass through the well, we can't even more her that far now anyway, and the people in my world don't just hand out medicine for serious injuries for people or animals to just anyone. There really is nothing I can do......sorry."
Sango only started crying all over again.
Hours later Kirara's now shallow breathing stopped. At dawn they burried her.

InuYasha was wondering through the woods letting the others comfort Sango in her grief. 'I can't beleive this happened. I promised to protect them. Now someone's dead! Kirara was never someone special to ME but Sango's my friend. And now I've let her down. Her very best friend and loyal companion has been killed by MY brother because I couldn't stop him! If I can't stop my own brother from killing my friends than what buisness do I have "protecting" them?!' Then another horrifing thought came to him. 'What If he didn't let Kagome go? He could have killed her yesterday and there was nothing I could do....... Nothing I even tried to do. I just stood there! I froze in terror! I've never done that before.......' Suddenly he started thinking about a lot of things he's done since he met Kagome that he'd never done before. He never made friends other than Kikyo, he never hunted demons to protect the such friends, he never had something so close to a family as he did today.....His thoughts were cut short when he caught the scent of Kikyo very close and coming toward him.

Kikyo couldn't seem to stop herself, she just kept walking and walking. Something inside her head was telling her this is the only way. 'If we were both dead we would always be togather. And demons like Naraku would no longer be able to decive us. This time it will be only him and me, no demon's lies and no little reincarnated filth's influence.' Recently, she relized that she really didn't care what happened to the Shikon jewel. That wasn't her consern anymore; she died and that means her duties were ended. And since she was contemplating suiside, why not bring the only person she ever loved to be with her forever? She couldn't stand 'living' anymore. If you could even call it living. 'I'm tierd of living on borrowed time and the souls of the dead. The afairs of the living are no longer my concern. So why have I continued to be this living-dead puppet for so long? It doesn't matter anymore anyway. It all ends today.' She came into the clearing where InuYasha was standing waiting for her.

'Good,' Sesshomaru thought from his high perch in the nearby trees. 'This is going to work just fine. But I'll have to go with her to get what I nead.' He was consealing his scent so his brother wouldn't know he was there. All he had to do was wait until he saw the oppertunity he needed.

"What are you doing here?" InuYasha was a little confused because Kikyo usualy avoided being near InuYahsa and his friends. She was always off doing her own things. Which was fine by InuYasha because she usualy distracted him and she Kagome always seemed to be in an off mood everytime she was around. 'So what was she doing here now?'
She didn't answer his question, just walked right up to him and kissed him.
'What The Hell--' He didn't know what to think or say but he felt so different and what was he supposed to do but kiss her back?.....
He never saw the portal opening behind him and didn't even relize he was slowly being sucked in until she ended the kiss. But when she did he felt it and turned to look at the swirly vortex she set up to take them both to the deepest pits of hell. He tried to pull away but he felt a death grip on his arms form Kikyo; she must have been pouring all of her reserved streagnth into the hold, which combined with the growing pull of the portal and the fact that he wasn't trying hard because he was afraid of hurting Kikyo was keeping InuYasha in a forward motion. 'What the hell am I supposed to do now? I can't just-' What was he thinking! 'Of course I can go to hell for Kikyo! What was I thinking denying her?' The spell was taking over and he wouldn't be putting up any kind of fight now.
Suddenly, in a flash of silver and a loud smack everthing was gone; the vortex, Kikyo, the effects of the spell were already wearing off, and for that split second InuYasha could've sworn he caught Sesshomaru's scent. 'Ummmm.....WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!' The last of the spell wore off leaving InuYasha dazed and confused.
