Brothers

Chapter three

She was more than a little worried. It was more than a week since anyone had seen Inuyasha and Kagome
was starting to fear something might have happened to the stubborn hanyou. He often went off on his own for a
few days at a time, but he never stayed gone this long. Not for over a week. Not when he knew how much she
worried, and that fact just added to her concern. He was not one to worry her needlessly.

“Where are you, Inuyasha?” Kagome looked down into the clear pool of water at her own reflection and
noticed the dark circles under her eyes. “You look great, girl.” She scoffed at herself. “That’s what you get for
not sleeping three nights in a row.” Sighing, she leaned back and looked across the meadow towards the forest.
She knew she was willing the silver-haired hanyou to appear, but so far he had not and her anxiety continued to
grow.

Another one of their famous arguments about his brother flared up between them and he stormed off in a
pique saying he was going to put an end to it once and for all. When she demanded to know what he meant by
that, he yelled at her that he was going to get rid of the arrogant inu youkai the only way he knew of. He was
going to kill him. A spasm of fear knifed through her and she tried everything she could think of to talk him out of
going but he was beyond rational understanding by then and just blew her off. Stubborn and determined, he
marched into the forest in the direction of the Palace and his brother intent upon carrying out his proclimation, and
now, over a week later, there was no sign of him.

“If you’ve gotten yourself dead, you stupid hanyou, I’ll never forgive you.” Kagome stood up and
retrieved her yellow backpack, and swinging it over her shoulder, stared back down the path toward the village. It
felt lonely walking without the tall hanyou at her side complaining and griping about everything and anything and
she felt the telltale burning of tears in her eyes. “Damn you, Inuyasha.” She muttered under her breath as her
head bowed and a shudder of emotion quaked through her slender frame. “Where the hell are you?”

OoooooooooooooooooooOoooooooooooooooooOooooooooooooooooOoooooooooooooooOoooooooooooooooooO

“You don’t expect me to eat that, do you?” Inuyasha looked at the strange concoction of eggs and
something brown on his plate before turning his nose up and shuddering. “You must be insane. It doesn’t even
look like real food.”

“You will either eat it, hanyou, or you will starve.” The deep throated growl was heavy with warning as
well as impatience and when the young hanyou looked, Sesshoumaru’s face reflected the same emotions his voice
harbored. “I am not going to coddle you the way that girl does so don’t even try your spoiled-brat act on me. It
will not work. Understand?”

“Feh,” Inu glared at the stubborn youkai with irritation and then back down at his plate with just as much
distaste. “I can’t believe you expect me to this... this shit.”

“Watch it, hanyou, or you will find yourself making your own food.” The wide-eyed surprised look that
statement invoked did much to restore Sesshomaru’s good humor as did the image of his brother forcing himself to
eat something he obviously didn’t want. That was worth a great deal of amusement to the inu youkai and he would
remember it for a long time to come. It did, however, bring about a sour change in Inuyasha’s state of emotion,
and the hanyou pouted around the Palace for several hours following the morning meal. Sesshoumaru did nothing
but chuckle to himself and watch the festivities.

It was worth it, and he promised himself he would make it up to the sulking hanyou later.

“Is it always this quiet around here, Aniki?” Inuyasha sat down next to his brothers feet and favored
Seeshoumaru with a bored look. “You could almost watch flies fuck for excitement around here.”

A deep chuckle greeted that off color statement as the inu youkai looked up from his reading to regard the
relaxed bland face next to his knee. “Hai, Inu. It is often this quiet. Does the silence bother you?”

“It’s not that it bothers me, Aniki, I’m just not used to it.” He sighed and shifted to stretch his legs out in
front of him. “I’m used to lots of noise and people all over the place. I’m used to getting in trouble out shard
hunting with Kagome, and well, this is just so... quiet, and empty. There isn’t anybody here but us.”

“Jenkin is here, and Rin will be back soon–and there are the other servants, so I’m not sure how you can
say the Palace is empty.”

“It’s not the same as having a whole bunch of people around you that talk to you all the time, Seeshou.
I’m used to having my friends around me constantly. We talk and spend time together every day.” Suddenly Inu
became pensive and he face took on a serious look. “I’ve never been gone this long before. They are probably
getting worried about me.”

“But you have only been here with me for a few days.” Sesshoumaru put the parchment he was reading
down on the floor and turned to regard his brother more fully. “Why would they be worried about you after such a
short time?”

“You forget, Aniki. It takes nearly four days to get here from the village, so I’ve actually been gone for
more than a week all together. I haven’t ever been gone from home this long before.”

“I see,” Golden eyes took on a hooded look and the room grew quiet. “Do you wish to go back then?”

“Nani?” Inu looked up at his brother in surprise because the tone of voice was so flat and distant.

“I asked you if you wish to go back, Inuyasha. It is a simple question and I am sure you heard me the first
time.”

“Doushita, Aniki?” Concern filled the hanyou’s voice as he rose to his knees and laid a hand on his
brothers arm. “Are you angry with me for thinking about my friends and how long I’ve been gone?”

“Of course not, why should that make me angry?” Sesshoumaru loosened Inu’s grip and stood up to move
away. “You have been here with me for some time now and perhaps it is time for you to go back where you
belong.”

“Wh-where I belong?” A ting of hurt laced through Inuyasha’s voice as he echoed Sesshoumaru’s words.
“I thought I belonged here with you?”

“You are the one who said you had never been gone this long from ‘home’ before, Inuyasha. That leads
me to believe that in your heart you do not feel you belong here with me but rather back at the village with your...
friends. Is that not what you said?”

“I–I did say that, Sesshou, but...”

“But what, Inu?” Sesshoumaru turned around to face the stuttering hanyou, his golden gaze piercing and
filled with pain. “Did you or did you not call the village your home?”

“I did, but... Sesshou, it is not what you think.” Inuyasha took slow tentative steps toward his brother,
taking care to approach in as nonthreatening a manner as he could. The look of pain in Sesshoumaru’s eyes was
causing the breath to freeze inside his lungs, and the pain in his chest was almost unbearable. How had he been so
careless? It was such a small thing he said, but such a monstrous consequence.

“What is it then, Inu? If it is not what is in your true heart, then what is it?”

“I have lived in the villiage for almost a hundred years–off and on... it was where I lived with my mother
and it has the places I remember from those times. I–I have always called it ‘home’ simply because that is what
she called it when I was small and I learned it from her.”

“What are you saying then?” The golden eyes watched the hanyou warily.

“That it’s just a word, Sesshou.” As Inuyasha reached his brother, he gently cupped the proud face in his
hands. “It’s just a word that stands for a place I live, but it is not necessarily where my heart resides. Do you
understand that? Does it make sense?”

Sesshoumaru gazed down into the contrite face and took a deep breath. “I do not know if it does or not,
Inuyasha.” He said as he pulled the hanyou into his arms and cradled him against his chest. “Tell me what is in
your heart, my beloved. Tell me what you feel now that you are here with me as opposed to what you feel when
you are with your friends. Is it the same?”

“Ne, Aniki, it is not the same.” Inuyasha burrowed into Sesshoumaru’s neck, pressing his nose against
the warm flesh and sighing with relief when the arms around him tightened. “When I am with my friends, they all
depend on me to hold them up. I am the strongest one. It is me they come to when the world gets turned upside
down. It is my sword that protects the village... and my friends.”

              “And the woman you love.”

              “Hai. That too.”

              “But they help you, ne?”

“Hai. They help me, but I am still the strongest. The major responsibility falls to my shoulders. I must
be the driving force that keeps our world safe.” A delicate shiver coursed through his body and he wrapped his
arms around Sesshoumaru’s waist. “I don’t feel that way here with you.”

“What do you feel, Inuyasha? Tell me.” There was a significant pause as Sesshoumaru waited for his
brother to speak, and then the words started to come, halting at first, then with more sureity.

“I feel... almost small, like I’m a little boy again, and I want to hide in your arms and let you protect me
from the world and all the things in it that would harm me. I want to lean on your strength and let you shelter me.
And I want to be loved, Sesshou. I want you to hold me and love me forever... because I love you and want to be a
part of you and your life. I want that so much–possibly more than anything else. I want to be with you in any way
I can, and in any way you’ll let me.” A tiny sob broke free from him and he pressed himself closer to the
thundering heart next to his chest.

“You are a part of me, Inuyasha, more than you know.” Sesshoumaru buried his face against his brothers
shoulder and crushed him as tight against him as he could. “You have stolen my heart–I told you that, and it is
becoming more true with each day that passes between us. I can no longer live without you attached to my life in
some way. I must have you bound to me, my beloved. I cannot let you leave without knowing you will be back.”

“I will always come back, Aniki.” Inuyasha pulled back and gazed lovingly up into his brothers
distraught face. Catching his breath, he pressed a gentle kiss into those trembling lips unable to bear seeing the
proud youkai so diminished. “I will always come back to you,” He promised vehemently as Sesshoumaru
shuddered against him. “I don’t think I can live without you anymore either. I love you too much.”

              “Aishiteru, my beautiful Inuyasha. Aishiteru.”

“Sesshoumaru!” Inuyasha’s sob of joy was cut short by the crushing pressure of his brothers mouth as he
captured the hanyous lips in a deep, passionate kiss. As their tongues rose to tangle together, the two youkai
groaned and began caressing each others faces and chests. To them the touch of flesh on flesh was necessary to
reestablish the bond between them and soon the delicate clatter of swords being set on the floor was heard. This
was followed by the insistent moans and whines of impatient lovers as they started pulling at one another’s
clothing. Belts were untied, gi’s and haori’s opened, hakama’s loosened and as much flesh as possible exposed to
searching hands and mouths.

Sesshoumaru fisted his hands in the long, silky mane of his brothers hair, pulling his head back to expose
the luscious column of his neck which became the target of his tongue and teeth, and as he tasted the slightly salty
flesh, the sounds of Inuyasha’s hoarse growls of pleasure filled his senses spurring him onward. Turning to the
side, he returned to his chair and pulled the hanyou down to straddle his lap. Both erect cocks peaked out of the
folds of their hakamas showing their dark, dusky heads and begging to be touched and loved. Aching to be stroked
and fondled by a lovers hand, and Inuyasha was not about to pass up the opportunity to please his beloved.

“Inu! Kami-sama!” Sesshoumaru swore violently as he felt the strong, warm hands encircle the width
and length of his erection sending pulsing waves of pleasurable heat through his vitals. “What are you doing?”

“Loving you, Aniki. I’m loving you.”

The husky voice sent shivers of delight through the youkai and he nuzzled into the hanyou’s throat
finding and licking the bounding pulse point. “Then let me love you too, beloved.” And his hand found the
throbbing core of his brothers passion wringing a sting of hoarse curses from him as he arched backward with
pleasure. “You will always belong here with me, Inuyasha. Do you hear me, little hanyou? You will always
belong to me... always.”

“And w-will you belong to me, Sesshou?” Deep amber eyes flashed wildly as they opened to meet the
molten gold of the youkai’s passion filled gaze. “Will you? Are you mine too?”

“Hai, little hanyou. I am.” It was done. It was said, and there was no turning back for either of them.
Inuyasha’s eyes grew round with astonishment as he stared into Sesshoumaru’s face, and then he was covering his
brothers mouth in the most incredible, passionate kiss that the youkai felt as though the world were slipping away.
Time ceased to matter and all that was of any great concern were the flood of emotions coursing through his veins
and need to feel a part of the body he held so close. Quickly he loosen and opened the fabric of Inuyasha’s red
hakama, maneuvering the back panel out of his way so he could cup and caress the tant muscular buttocks even as
he lifted them off his lap.

Licking his hand, Sesshoumaru reached behind Inuyasha and massaged his tender anus until it relaxed
beneath the pressure of his searching fingers, and then, with a slow deliberation, he gently impaled the
whimpering hanyou on his swollen, throbbing manhood. Growling and groaning together, the brothers hugged
each other close and began rocking back and forth, grinding their pelvic bones in a tight circle. Pleasure hot and
violent erupted between them, and as Inuyasha’s head fell back, Sesshoumaru’s fangs sank deep into that naked,
vulnerable flesh.

“An-iki!” The cry of passionate pain rose high and echoed off the cold stone walls of Sesshoumaru’s
study, ringing with the resonance of pure joy as it drifted through the air. “Oh God, don’t stop!” Inu’s hand
curled tightly into his brothers hair as he pulled him closer, begging him to take whatever he wanted and offering
all that he had.

Blood, hot and sweet as new honey flowed over Sesshoumaru’s tongue, and he shivered with the growing
hunger it was awakening inside of him. Beneath his skin the great youkai demon flexed its spirit, howling and
scratching to be free of the confines of his body. In the back of his mind he knew if he lost control of the dog
spirit, it might devour Inuyasha like a midday snack leaving him to grieve over the loss of something he had only
just begun to love and cherish. So, with great determination, Seeshoumaru removed his fangs from his brothers
throat and gently began laving the puncture wounds, coaxing them to stop bleeding even as the hanyou begged him
to bite him again.

“Please, Seehou... please. It made me feel so–so close to you. Please.”

“Ne, little one, I cannot.” Sesshoumaru pulled Inu’s head back up and nuzzled his flushed cheek, tenderly
licking along the sharp jawline. “I have no wish to lose you, Inu.”

“Lose me?” Glazed amber eyes filled with confused as Inuyasha searched his brothers face. “How would
you lose me, Sesshou?”

“By losing control of my youkai, beloved. If that happens, I could very well eat you and not think twice
about it. Do you understand? That is what the taste of your blood does to me. It sends me over the edge of reason
and I cannot allow that. I cannot lose you.” Cradling the warmth of his brother against his chest, Sesshoumaru
gazed deeply into the bewildered eyes and then gently cupped the back of his brothers head. “I need you,
Inuyasha.” He murmured as he leaned up and caressed those tender lips. “I will not lose you.”

“I am not afraid of you.”

“You should be.” The rest of whatever Inuyasha might have said was cut off as Sesshoumaru seized his
mouth in a violent kiss, thrusting his tongue deep inside making the hanyou moan and writhe upon his lap. His
cock throbbed painfully where it sat lodged inside his brothers body screaming for satisfaction, and he knew there
would be no more foreplay. He was finished playing. He required an outlet for his pent up desires, and that outlet
was setting willing and warm on his lap.

Vicious hands dug deeply into the flesh of Inu’s ass wringing a cascade of whimpers from him and
causing his hand to unconsciously tighten around his brothers shaft. Then he found himself being lifted up only to
be driven back down with crushing force as Seeshoumaru filled him with the full length of his cock. A strangled
cry of pleasure tore its way free of his throat as little white and blue starbursts exploded in front of his eyes. Over
and over again he was raised and impaled until all rational thought disappeared from his mind.

With his hands pulling his brother tight against him, Sesshoumaru crushed his brothers erection between
the sweat damp flesh of their bellies, watching as it slid up and down along the rigid muscle of his abdomen. He
could see it growing darker and feel it getting harder as the hanyou approached climax and he smiled to himself
knowing he was giving as much pleasure as he was receiving. It would not have been right if he came without Inu.
He deserved the release just as much.

It was only moments before the two youkai met their climatic ends and found the aching fulfillment they
so eagerly sought. Growling curses mixed with whining moans filtered through the room as they reached the
pinnacle and then slipped down the other side into languid relaxation and comfortable warmth. Breaths slowed to
an even pace and soon silence came to rest among them.

“Do you want to go back, Inu?” The question came in quiet, neutral tone but it still caused the lounging
hanyou to stiffen somewhat in his position draped over his lap and shoulder.

“Do you want me to go back?” Was the even more neutral reply.

“Ne, I want you stay here–with me for a while more, but I do not want you to worry your friends
needlessly either, or that girl who cares about your stubborn hide so much.”

Inu smiled against Sesshoumaru’s gi and closed his eyes. “I guess I should go back–for a little while, but
I doubt I’ll be able to stay gone for very long.”

“Really?” Golden eyes twinkled and the youkai allowed himself a half smile. “Why is that?”

“Because I don’t want to be away from you, Aniki. I want to be here, like this”

“Hmmm, and what happens when you mate with that human girl that loves you so much? What then? Or
have you even thought about that, Inu?”

“What about it? Why should that have to change anything between us? If she loves me, she will accept
what is here or we will not be able to be mates.” He pulled back and looked into Sesshoumaru’s face. “I will not
give you up, Sesshou. Not even for her. I have waited too long for you to love me. I will not give it up now, not
for anything.”

“Inuyasha,” Sesshoumaru cupped the stubborn face and shook his head. “What is between us is not
natural. Surely you understand this? Ne?”

“I don’t care, Sesshou. I meant what I said. I will not give you up.”

“Then she will have to understand because I have no wish to give you up either, little brother. I meant
what I said--you belong to me.”

OoooooooooooooooooooooooOoooooooooooooooooooooooOooooooooooooooooooOoooooooooooooooooooooo

Two weeks passed without any sign of Inuyasha and his friends were well beyond concerned. They were
closer to panicked. Kagome finally broke down and told them about the fight she and the hanyou had just before
he left, and the reason behind his leaving. Now everyone was just as upset as she was about him being gone for so
long, and they were getting to the point of setting out in search of him even to the point of making the trek to the
Western Palace if they had too.

“It’s just been way too long, Miroku. He should have been back by now.” Kagome’s ebony eyebrows
knitted in a deep furrow across her forehead as she stared into the forest. “I know the fight we had was bad, but
we’ve had bad fights before and he never stayed gone this long. I just know something terrible happened to him. I
just know it.”

“Now Kagome-sama, you don’t really know that. You’re just afraid that is what has happened.” The
violet eyed Monk tried to reassure the young Miko but he knew it was a vein attempt because she was convinced of
her own assumptions. “You need to try and be more positive. Inuyasha is very adept at surviving most any
situation. I’m sure even if he was injured in a battle with Lord Sesshoumaru that he’s managed to make the best of
it.”

“Miroku!” Sango smacked the Monk in the back of the head as he stated making reference to the
dangerous position the hanyou had put himself in. “Shut-up. Kagome doesn’t need to be reminded of that. She
has enough to worry about without you bringing up the obvious.”

“Gomen,” He tried to smile in the face of his beloved’s wrath but found himself withering and wishing her
were somewhere else. “I won’t bring it up again. I was just trying to help Kagome-sama be more positive.”

“Well, do us all a favor, and don’t.”

              “Hai, Koishii.”

“Oh, Kagome, don’t listen to Miroku. I’m sure Inuyasha is just fine. He’s just trying to blow off steam.”

“For two weeks, Sango?” Kagome’s dove gray eyes were snapping with angry frustration as they met the
anxious brown gaze of her best friend. “I don’t think so. Even he isn’t that thick headed and stubborn.”

“Well, I refuse to believe that he’s...” Quickly Sango looked away, unwilling to finish the statement she
started.

“That he’s what? Dead?” Kagome’s voice sounded faraway and when Sango looked at her all the color
had drained out of her face leaving her looking more like a ghost than a woman. “I think we have to consider that
possibility, Sango. He’s never stayed gone for two weeks, and if he really did go to fight Seeshoumaru, he just
might have gotten himself killed. Otherwise, he would have come home by now. Don’t you think?”

“I–I don’t know what to think, Kagome. You’re right about him never being gone like this before, but I
won’t believe he’s dead until I see proof. I can’t. Not Inuyasha. I just can’t.”

“You have to, Sango. He’s not indestructible, you know.”

“I know, but... he’s survived so many times before through so many things that should have killed him.
Why should I believe that this time is any different?”

“Because he never came back.” The finality of that statement grabbed all three friends by the throat and
held on. It was the cold, harsh truth and as much as none of them wanted to think about it, it was a reality.
Inuyasha had not come back this time, and he was gone much longer than ever before, longer than he should be.
The possibility of his being dead suddenly became more tangible to everyone and a heaviness that was not with
them before settled within their hearts.

“What do we do?” Sango looked as if her world was collapsing.

“Try to find a way to say ‘Good-bye’, Koishii. It is the only thing we can do.” Miroku moved to stand
beside his beloved and wrapped his arms around her. Together they stood and tried to bid a silent farewell to their
friend. Sango began to cry.

“Inuyasha...” Kagome’s voice caught on sob and she buried her face in her hands. Despair descended
upon her like a shroud and she crumpled beneath the weight. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

“Hey, what’s going on? Did somebody die or something? How come everybody’s looking like they just
lost their best friend?”

              “INUYASHA!”
