Kagome took a step back at their sudden change and Miroku and InuYasha were both ready to interveen if need be.
“What...look, I’m only trying to be nice here. And since you two are going to be traveling with us, you better get used to how we work,” she said, placing her fists on her hips as she regained her wits.
“Oh really? Who said we would follow? And you’re very far from being our leader. And Shetaro doesn’t eat if you didn’t know. Youkais only do when they’re wounded or need energy, and I’m not in dire need of food, so I’ll pass.”
With that said, both fell back on the ground smoothly, the youkai even chuckling. Kagome’s jaw was hanging open, not believing what they had just told her. It seemed like they were just playing with her head. Before she could think of something to say, InuYasha took her arm and pulled her back to the fire camp.
“It’s not worth it. They’ll just end up making you more mad, and the miko does have a point, youkais don’t need to eat unless extremly weak or very wounded. If you ask me, let them learn their leson. They’ll eventually be crawling back to us for help when they see how weak they are.”
Two snorts were heard from the teens and InuYasha just rolled his eyes. He knew that the teens would be listening to whatever they were going to talk about no matter how detached or uninterested they seemed to look. It was they young age that made them curious.
“What will we do now? It’s not like if we can keep on looking for the jewls chards with those two,” said Kagome.
“Oh, we ain’t stopping because of two little pups. No way are we stopping. I don’t want Naraku to end up enven further then us on this!” replied InuYasha, not leaving any place for objections.
“It might even be a good experience for them,” said Miroku.
“And they might come handy in fights,” added Sango, looking over at them.
Frewin was tall and he looked very agile, not to mention the way he stood and walked showed great skills. And Shetaro was a youkai, which already meant he was naturally strong and if Sango’s suspicions were correct, he was not so easy as he looked to be letting on.
“Why don’t they just leave if they don’t want to be here?” asked Shippo as he looked over Kagome’s shoulder, sitting on her lap, over at the two strangers.
“Because they know they need some help in getting their way around. Don’t forget, they’re new here. Wouldn’t want to step on another stronger youkai’s territory by accident. They might be arrogant, but they’re not stupid.”
Kagome had to agree InuYasha had a point there. After their meal, they all settled down for a good night’s sleep, the two teens still in their same spot, but against each other’s side for warmth.

Sango woke up first, after InuYasha of course, and got some water to boil. She tehn looked over at the teens to see if they were still there. She was quite surprised to find Shetaro half laying on Frewin and the blond holding the grey-haired youkai closely with both arms around his the youkai’s waist.
“I think Shetaro is still looking for companionship in his sleep. Most Inu will sleep in the same bed as their siblings just so they don’t get lonely, or their parent’s bed if they don’t have siblings and that their parents let them,” said InuYasha, sitting right above Kagome’s sleeping form in the tree that they had camped besides.
“Did you ever sleep in your mother’s bed?” she asked, curious.
InuYasha made a face before looking down and nodding his head slightly. He’d done that a few times, when he had been very young and he had been having nightmares. What he wasn’t about to admit was that Yamasso and Sesshoumaru were the other two who took him in the other nights. Even though Sesshoumaru had not been very close to InuYasha, he had still visited him and his mother to make sure he was alright and had protected him in his sleep. Yamasso had been there even more often, being that his pack lived very close to where InuYasha’s mother had settled down.
“Hey, good morning you two,” said Kagome as she sat up and rubbed her eyes.
“Good morning Kagome. Did you sleep well?” asked Sango.
“Yes, I did. Are the two boys still here?”
“Yup, sleeping like pups too,” replied InuYasha as he jumped down to stretch his arms and legs.
Kagome nodded and looked over at them. Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of them curled up against each other but she didn’t say anything and just looked away. Miroku and Shippo soon also woke up, the later loud enough to wake the two pups. Frewin moved away from Shetaro’s body slowly as he woke up, looking around. He groaned in disapointment when he realised what had happened the night before was not a dream. Shetaro woke up faster, not saying a word as he stood up and jumped into the tree the closest to him and looking around from the top.
“What’s he looking for?” asked Miroku, going close enough for Frewin to hear him without him needing to shout.
“Nothing much. It’s just something he does out of boredom. He’s really weird.”
For his effort at socialisation, Frewin received an apple on the head.
“You could at least make sure I can’t hear you before insulting me you moron,” said coldly the grey-haired youkai jumping down the tree.
“Sorry. What else did you want me to say?”
Shetaro decided not to give that one an answer and started to walk away from the camp and everyone. Frewin took hold of his bag and followed his friend.
“Hey! Where do ou think you’re going?!” asked Kagome, placing her hands on her hips.
Shetaro looked at her over his shoulder and snorted.
“My father passed by this way. I’ll be damned if he thinks he can get rid of us so easilly.”
“The old man might think he’s good, but we learned from him how to track him. He’s not going to get away this time.”
Both turned around and started away again. Kagome looked at InuYasha, ordering him silently to go stop them. InmuYasha paid her no attention, frowning as he looked at the two teens.
“You do realise he’s not going to be happy about this?” asked the hanyou.
The two stopped again and looked over at him.
“He’s never happy with how we act. Why should we care now?” asked Frewin.
“And what happens if you do end up meeting something more powerful then you? Do you seriously think he’ll come to your rescue?”
“Who wants him to rescue us? He’s worthless. He can’t even take care of us properly, much less save us,” hissed Shetaro.
Frewin looked over at Shetaro, eyes wide. It was clear he did not think the same as his step-brother.
“Then why are you going after him?”
Shetaro glared at the hanyou and turned back around, ready to leave. He took one step before Frewin okaced his hand on the smaller being’s shoulder.
“You do realise he does have a point brother?”
“And why should I care? I’m still going after him. I wont let him ignore his responsibilities again.”
Frewin didn’t say anything, but he didn’t follow as Shetaro started walking again. He even turned around to face the others and shrugged.
“He’s always like that. He hates it when our father leaves without any garantee that he’ll be back soon or in a hundred years. I guess that’s why Yamasso does it.”
