What's A Dragon to Do?

Chapter 28

Inuyasha awoke to his head throbbing. He looked around to find an old lady watching him. "Where am I and who are you?"

"You are in the Western Palace and I am Lord Sesshoumaru's healer Uzuki. I had expected for you to awaken yesterday. I guess your body needed more time to heal from the potion. So how are you feeling?" Uzuki handed the hanyou a cup of tea.

Inuyasha brought the cup up to his nose and sniffed, he quickly tried to give it back to the old hag. "What poison is this?"

Uzuki laughed at the young prince. "It is but a tea to cleanse the rest of the potion from your system."

"What are you talking about you hag?" Inuyasha glared at the cup of tea and then the healer.

"Someone more than likely a miko had given you a potion to control you. The spell the potion put you under broke two days ago. You collapsed in the dining room and General Kitaro brought you too me. Your friends informed me that you have been seeing a miko and it is believed that she is the one responsible." Uzuki put her finger under the cup and brought it to his lips. "Drink or I will be forced to make you do so."

"I would like to see you try it." Inuyasha thrusted the cup into the healers hand and went to stand up.

"I was told you were a difficult patient. I guess I will have to take drastic measures." Uzuki walked to the door and opened it. "You may come in now." Inuyasha looked to see who was at the door. When Miroku walked in he breathed a sigh of release. "Hey Miroku, how are you doing?"

Miroku smiled at his friend. "I seem to be fairing much better than you."

"Feh, I feel fine. This old hag is trying to make me drink some cleansing tea." Inuyasha turned to glare at the healer and lightly growled at her.

Miroku sighed he hated when Inuyasha was injured or sick. He was a horrible patient. Miroku reached into his robe and removed the sutra's he had prepared. When he saw Inuyasha glaring at the healer he quickly slapped one on the hanyou's head.

Inuyasha fell backwards on the bed and couldn't move, "What did you do Miroku?"

"If you won't do what Uzuki wants then we will have to force you. The potion that Kikyo gave you has to be cleansed from your body. I would like my friend back and I will do what is necessary to help you heal." He took the cup from Uzuki and sat on Inuyasha's chest and then pried the hanyou's mouth open and poured the tea down his throat. He stroked Inuyasha's throat making sure that he swallowed the tea. When it was all gone he got up and watched the hanyou. He learned a few new words from the hanyou. "Inuyasha there is a lady present and you shouldn't use such language in front of a lady."

Inuyasha pointed to Uzuki, "That is no lady. That is a hag from hell. That is why her potions taste so bad."

"Why you ungrateful pup. My mother has worked herself ragged for the last two days to keep you alive and to rescue you from the miko. You dare call her a hag." Juria walked up to the hanyou and she didn't care that he was still under the sutra's spell she punched him hard enough to knock him out.

Inuyasha turned his head when he heard a voice yelling at him. He saw a dragon youkai coming toward him. Her anger radiated off her making him feel sick. He moved his eyes to the old hag and back to the youkai that just entered the room. She must not take after her mother. He opened his mouth to say something and before he could get a sound out her fist connected with his jaw. Then his world faded to black.

Miroku just stared at the dragon youkai before him. Well the hanyou did deserve it for calling her mother names. Maybe he will learn a lesson from this. No that wouldn't happen he is too stubborn and it would take more than that to teach him a lesson. Then he turned to the dragon youkai. "Remind me never to anger you my Lady."

Juria turned to the monk and smiled. "I am sorry that I hurt your friend. But he made me angry when he called my mother names."

"Inuyasha deserved your punishment. But maybe you should wait till he is healed before you correct him. Now your poor mother will have to put up with his foul behavior longer." Miroku smiled and turned to leave the room. He had a date with Masumi in the gardens. "I will return later to remove the sutra. The extra rest will do him good."

Juria watched the monk leave then turned to face her mother and bowed her head. "I am sorry mother for hitting the hanyou. But after all you did for him and then he called you names. I guess my temper got the best of me again."

"Why the cause was a just one you must remember that he is still ill and needs care. Not to be knocked unconscious. For your punishment you will take over his care." Uzuki handed her a pouch. "This is his tea. He is to drink it every couple of hours. He will fight you on this so be warned. And add some cold cloths to his chin. Even if he is a hanyou he will be sore from your blow when he wakes." Uzuki turned to leave her daughter with the hanyou. They both have volatile tempers this could get interesting.

~Western Palace Dungeon~

Jaken heard a noise and almost jumped out of his skin. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Dai in front of his cell.

Dai looked at the imp that was under his care. He looked sort of white instead of green, "Are you sick?"

"I am not. I just thought you were someone else that is all." Jaken turned his back on the guard. At least it wasn't the specters of the children come back to haunt him.

"It is good that you are scared imp. I am sure that Lord Sesshoumaru will punish you justly for ignoring his orders." Dai smiled at the imp and could see the imp shaking in fear then he noticed a small pool of liquid at the imp's feet that was slowly getting bigger. Yes he could now say that the imp was scared to death. Dai couldn't stand the disgusting imp and moved down the hall to the guards desk. He would have to have someone clean up after the imp. It wasn't bad enough to have to smell the imp but now he had to smell his urine.

~Western Palace~

Ah and Un landed in the garden in the morning.

Sesshoumaru had decided to camp for the night in Inuyasha's forest. He looked down at his sleeping mate that he held in his arms. From their mating last night she now had claws and stripes to match his but hers were blue. Her hair had gotten longer and much of it was now blue. He looked up when a couple of guards approached him and watched as they bowed to him. "Where are Kitaro and my brother?"

One guard stood up to answer his lord. "General Kitaro left with the slayer to patrol last evening and has yet to return. Prince Inuyasha is with the healer. He collapsed two days ago." Sesshoumaru nodded to them and then with Kagome in his arms he walked into his palace. He carried Kagome to his room and placed her in his bed and saw a servant standing behind him.

"This is Lady Kagome, the new Lady of the Western Lands. No one not even the children are to disturb her. You will not tell anyone else what I have just told you and do not let Kagome leave the room until I return." He stood up and left the room. He would have to visit the healer to find out what ailed his brother.

Sesshoumaru walked into the infirmary and found Juria placing a cloth over the hanyou's jaw. "What happened to him?"

Juria jumped up and bowed to her lord. "I am sorry my lord but he called my mother names after she spent two days healing him. I sort of hit him."

"How does one sort of hit someone?" What was wrong with everyone? He leaves for a couple of day and comes back to complete chaos.

"Well I sort of more than hit him. I punched him and knocked him out." Juria knew it was a crime to strike one of the royal family she bowed down on her knees before her lord. "I will take what ever punishment you deem fair for striking your brother my Lord." Sesshoumaru looked down at the hanyou then to the dragon youkai. She had always served his family well.

"I am sure that he deserved your punishment but it is still a crime to strike one of the royal family. So for striking my brother you are now his servant until I say otherwise." He walked over to look at Inuyasha one more time then turned back to Juria. "Let me know when he wakes." He then turned and left the room.

Now he had to check on the children. He found them in the room with Nichie, Juria's sister. "Why are you with the children Nichie?"

Nichie bowed when she saw Sesshoumaru enter the room."My Lord, Kitaro put me in charge of the children until you returned."

Sesshoumaru watched as she stood back up. He watched her for a few seconds and then turned to the children. "Are you well?"

Shippou and Rin smiled then ran to Sesshoumaru and threw their arms around his legs. They both answered at the same time.

"Yes Lord Sesshoumaru we are fine. Nichie has taken good care of us." They turned him loose and returned to the table they were at before. Sesshoumaru looked at Nichie and nodded his head.

"You may continue to take care of the children. But be warned if something should happen to them it will mean your life." He left the children and went to his study.

He had expected the room to be filled with paperwork but it seemed that Inuyasha had done most of it before he took ill. He sat down at his desk and picked up the three that was from the other lords. He was extremely confused after he read the first scroll. Then after reading the other two as well he was beginning to wonder if he and Kagome were the only sane people left in Japan.

Why did they send scrolls telling of their acceptance to the Western Ball to welcome the new Western Lady? No one but the servant knew of his taking Kagome as his mate. And she had only learned of that this morning and the scrolls were dated two days ago. What in the hell was going on? Well since Kitaro was absent and Inuyasha was in the infirmary there was no one to tell him what was going on then he smelled the monk headed in his direction. He might know what is going on. He walked and opened the door of the study and when the monk walked in front of it he grabbed him and pulled him into the room.

"Now monk do you know why everyone is acting so crazy around here?"

Miroku recovered from being scared to death and bowed to Lord Sesshoumaru. "It is good to see you my Lord. May I hope that Lady Kagome is with you? For if she is we can continue our quest for the shards."

Sesshoumaru growled at the monk. He had not answered his questions. "You have not answered my question monk."

Miroku heard the growl and spoke up quickly. "I do not know what you mean by everyone acting crazy. As far as I know they are acting like they normally do."

Sesshoumaru could feel a headache coming on. He decided to return to his chamber and rest for a little while with Kagome. Then maybe he could get some answers.

"I will see you later monk." He walked past him and out the door. Sesshoumaru walked into his room to find Kagome glaring at the servant he had left with her.

"You may leave us now." He waited till the servant left and then turned to his mate. He could tell she wasn't happy about something. "What is wrong Kagome?"

Kagome leaned against the headboard and crossed her arms over her chest. "You told that servant not to let me leave the room. Are you embarrassed by me?"

Sesshoumaru sat on the bed beside Kagome and pulled her into his arms. "That is not the reason Kagome. I wanted to be the one to tell everyone about us tonight at dinner. It was not because I was ashamed of you." He leaned pulled her against him and ran his hands down her back.

Kagome smiled up at Sesshoumaru. "I am glad then. I will stay here and rest until then. I am so tired. Someone kept me up all night." She laid her head down on his chest. "So is everything fine with your lands?"

Sesshoumaru sighed and scooted further down the bed taking Kagome with him. "I think they all went insane."

Kagome looked up at Sesshoumaru. "What do you mean?"

"The monk smelled like an Ookami, Inuyasha got knocked out by a dragon youkai and a female one at that. The slayer is off with my general and no one knows where he or she is. The children have a new nanny named Nichie she is the sister of Juria who knocked Inuyasha out. The children seemed like the only sane people I have talked to today. And to top that off I received letters from the other three Lords accepting the invitations to our ball to announce you to the lands as the Lady of the West. They were dated two days ago and there is no way they could have found out about our mating." He felt another headache coming on. He rubbed his head as he laid it down on the pillow behind him.

"That is strange. And you didn't find out what was going on?" Kagome could tell that Sesshoumaru was disturbed by these facts.

"I tried to ask the monk but his scent was making me sick so I just left him in my study. I decided that I would return to you and maybe when dinner arrives I can get some answers." He pulled Kagome closer to him and closed his eyes. He felt when Kagome fell to sleep and then joined her.
