Chapter 25

Sesshoumaru had awoken to Kagome's whimpering in her sleep. He sat up and placed her on his lap holding her for the remainder of the night. Just after dawn he felt her stir in his grasp. He looked down to find her watching him. "Good morning."

Kagome smiled at Sesshoumaru and moved to get off his lap. "Good morning."

Sesshoumaru refused to let her up. He enjoyed holding her thus. "You don't need to get up yet. It is still early."

"That's were your wrong Sess. I really need to get up and soon." She wiggled around a little more and he still refused to release her. Now how is she going to get free? Maybe a surprise attack would work. Kagome sat up and quickly brought her mouth to his. She ran her tongue around his lips and then opened her mouth to allow his entrance. When she felt his arms loosen she broke the kiss and quickly stood up and ran into the forest.

Sesshoumaru was trying to figure out what happened. One minute he was kissing his mate and the next she had ran into the forest. Women were so confusing. How could they turn their bodies on one minute and then off the next? He stood up and decided to go get breakfast.

When he returned he found Kagome putting water on to boil for the tea that Ah and Un had brought them last night. He placed the hares on a spit and placed it over the fire. He preferred his raw but he would eat it cooked so that his mate would eat. He looked at Kagome and saw the hint of tears on her face. "What is wrong?"

"I miss the children. They kept us occupied and now that they are not here I don't know what we are going to do?" Kagome wiped at the tears running down her face.

Sesshoumaru walked over to her and took her into his arms. "We will do what every newly mated couple does." He saw her face turn red and couldn't help but to laugh. "I meant to get to know one another. What did you think I was talking about?"

"Nothing." Kagome hid her face in his haori and could feel the heat coming off of it. Then she felt his chest shaking and looked up at him to find him actually laughing. "You're laughing."

"Of course I am. I find it very funny that your first thought to my response was mating. I am glad that you don't find mating me terrible. Dare I ask if you enjoy it?" He couldn't help but laugh more when she started sputtering and her face flushed even more.

Kagome turned and glared at Sesshoumaru, "Of all the youkais', I had to mate the hentai."

"But Kagome you never answered my question. Do you enjoy mating with me?" He was having fun teasing her.

Kagome laughed and shook her head, "I am not going to answer that. Your ego is big enough already and I refuse to limit my space in the orb if it gets any bigger."

"I'll take that as a yes then. Just think, now that the children are gone we can mate anytime you wish." Or anytime that he wished.

"I heard that." Kagome handed him a cup of tea and took hers to sit by the river. Sesshoumaru stood up and followed her.

"So what do you wish to do today?"

"Lets play questions and answers?" Kagome finished her tea and sat her cup down. "Which means we ask each other questions and no matter what they are you have to answer them."

Sesshoumaru sat his cup down beside hers then turned so that he was facing her, "I get to go first. What did you think of me when you first saw me?"

"That's a tough one. The first time I saw you was when you were on the shoulder of that huge demon flinging your whip around and torturing Inuyasha. I was scared half to death. I was mad at you for being so cruel to Inuyasha. Using that poor undead mother to pretend that she was his mother. And all that just to find your fathers tomb. You made me so mad." Kagome glared at him. "My turn, what happened to make you hate Inuyasha so much?"

"I don't hate him." He looked over at Kagome and could see the doubt on her face. "This is a long story but I will try to make it short. When I was younger my mother died. In his grief my father mated a human women. A princess, his beast didn't like her and refused to mark her but my father made her the Lady of the Western Lands anyway. He brought her to his palace and she assumed the role to fit the title. Many royals rebelled against my father for taking her as his mate when his beast wouldn't.

"They started to look down on him. She acted like a mother should and I began to like her. She would give me hugs and I would tell her all about my day. Soon she became pregnant with Inuyasha. Her body was not handling it well. She had to stay in bed. I went to her room to talk with her. I found her with a human soldier. She cried that he forced her but I could tell she was lying.

I waited up for father to return from his patrol and confronted him with what I had seen. He called me a liar and had the guards throw me in the dungeon. A couple of hours later he came to visit me. He was very angry. She had told him that the soldier was only in her room to deliver a message from her father. She denied everything. I guess she had somehow removed his scent from her body. She told him some story about me not wanting her for a mother and was just trying to make her look bad in my father's eyes. He was furious. I found out that day what a torture chamber was used for. He chained me to a wall and used his whip on my back. Even with my healing abilities it would take days to recover from the beating. When I hung limp in the chains he still beat me. When I still refused to admit that I was lying he thought of other means to torture me.

"When I finally passed out he left me hanging in the chains. He came back later in the night to begin the torture all over again. I refused to show him any hint of the pain he was inflicting on me. I guess that angered him further. For the next week he beat me until I passed out. Every time I passed out he would leave me. He would make sure to return every couple of hours to see if I was awake if I was the torture continued. If not he would wait till his next visit. After a week of torture I was left alone. He still kept me in the dungeon and had the healer heal me. After a month I was finally released and summoned to my fathers study. His mate was with him and my father gave me the choice either apologizing to his mate for my accusations or leave. I left.

"I traveled Japan and that is when I came upon Jaken. It was shortly after doing so that I decided to return home. I didn't know what awaited me but I knew I had to go home. I arrived at the palace to find father on his deathbed. A dragon had wounded him. He had fought him right after receiving wounds from rescuing his mate from the human soldier that I had caught her with. He died that night. I returned to my room and found sleep. I awoke in the night to a noise in my chambers. I woke up and saw his mate unclothed and in my bed. She was trying to seduce me. I threw her out and told her that she would be leaving the next day and that her son would not be with her. I don't know what she was thinking but during the night she left taking Inuyasha with her. I tried to find her but she used some sort of spell to cover her scent. I had most of my soldiers out looking for them.

"It wasn't until that battle with the panther demons that I found out what happened to Inuyasha. Jaken had found him and then informed me that he was bound to a tree by a miko that he had fallen in love with. After the battle I visited him. I made sure that he was safe and that no youkai bothered him. Then one day I go to look for my father's tomb and find him alive. Since then I have been watching over him and fighting him to make him stronger. Little did I know that finding out if he could weld Tetsusaiga would cost me an arm. I had to fight him again to show him the wind scar. And it was just my luck that when he learned to use it he almost killed me. If it weren't for Tenseiga I would have died then. So you see I don't actually hate him I just don't know him. And from our previous meetings I can say that he doesn't want to get to know me. Although I was shocked that he agreed to watch over my lands until I get back." He looked to Kagome and found her crying again.

"Why are you crying?" He picked her up and moved her to his lap.

"That is such a sad story. How could your father do that to you? You were just a child and he tortured you. If he were alive today I would purify him. No I would torture him like he did you then I would purify him." Kagome had never felt so angry in her whole life.

"Kagome you must calm down. It isn't good for you to get so upset." Sesshoumaru rubbed his hands over her back and hugged her to him tightly while growling at her to calm her down. When he felt the anger leave her he pulled her away from him so that he could look into her face. "Kagome, I didn't mean to make you upset. Everything happened such a long time ago that I had all but forgotten about it till you asked."

Kagome scooted back away from him a little bit and looked up into his face, "But Sess, you didn't forget. You closed yourself off that day and you have yet to open your self back up to feelings." Sesshoumaru sighed.

"A Lord can not show his feeling. The other lords and other power hungry demons would find that a weakness. I can't afford to show any sign of weakness. I am young compared to the other Lords. I have been challenged many times for my right to rule the Western Lands. My father may not have known it at the time but he made me stronger during that week of hell." Kagome felt her tears starting all over again.

"But Sesshoumaru, caring about people is not a weakness. My mother always told me that a person's loved ones is what truly makes them strong. For if you have the love of your husband or wife then you have the ability to over come anything." Kagome wiped her eyes for what seemed like the hundredth time so far. "Whether or not you want to admit it I know you feel something for me. And your need to protect me and the children makes you stronger." She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him to her.

Sesshoumaru frowned down at his mate. How could she be so sure of his feelings? He wasn't even sure of what he felt other than the need to protect them and a desire to have Kagome.

"You are so concerned about my feelings but I have yet to hear you say how you feel about me."

Kagome leaned back to look at him. "Sess, for the longest time I thought that I loved Inuyasha. He kept throwing my love away and hurting me by going to Kikyo. I spent many years crying over him." She saw him turn his head away from her and took her hands to capture his head and forced him to look at her. "But I have feelings about you that I never had with Inuyasha. I look at you and I feel whole, peace, contentment, and joy. I love you more than even I knew was possible in such a short time. I don't know what I would do if something happened to you. Or if you decided that you no longer wanted me."

Sesshoumaru removed her hands from his face and lowered his head down to hers. He moved his mouth to hers and brought her as close to him as he could. He moved his mouth over hers and traced her lips with his tongue. He nipped at her lips with his fangs and lapped at the blood that rose to the surface. He licked at her lips until all the blood was gone and then moved his tongue into her mouth to play with hers. He moved his tongue around hers. He broke the kiss and leaned his head down and rested it on hers. When they both calmed he stood up taking Kagome with him. "I have something that I want to show you." He sat her down and took her hand and started walking into the forest.

Kagome followed behind Sesshoumaru blindly following him. Her mind was still clouded over with lust and she knew she wasn't thinking rationally. It must be easier for him to resume normal thought after a kiss like that. She didn't see when he stopped and ran right into his back. "Sorry, why did we stop?"

Sesshoumaru turned and walked behind Kagome. He leaned down and whispered into her ear. "Close your eyes." He waited for her to comply to his request before placing his hands on her shoulder. He guided her into the clearing he had found earlier when he had hunted breakfast. When he had her in position he removed his hands "You may open your eyes."

Kagome opened her eyes and saw a beautiful waterfall. It had ledges so that a person could stand under the fall of the water. At the bottom was a pond so clear that you could see the bottom of it and all the fish swimming around. There were flowers around the pond and vines going up the side of the falls. "I may just forgive Ah Un for making this."

"I don't know if I would go that far. You might want to take it easier on them. But I don't think you should forgive them totally." Sesshoumaru watched as Kagome walked around the clearing looking at everything.

"I don't think they have done anything too evil. Besides putting us in this orb. Without them you would never have mated me. They brought the children here to protect them and they made the orb livable. I don't think they should be punished to severely." Kagome sat on the bank and put her hands in the water. It was cool but not overly cold.

"Why don't you bathe and I will return to camp and retrieve your bag for you. Besides I must take the hares off the fire before they burn. I will bring them back here and we can have a picnic." Sesshoumaru saw Kagome nod to him and then he left to get the things he needed.

Kagome watched him go and when he was out of sight. She stood up and undressed. She laid her clothes on the bank and waded into the pond. She swam over to the falls and climbed up them using the vines to help her and when she reached the ledges she had saw earlier she walked under the flowing water. She loved feeling the water beat down on her. It almost felt like someone was massaging her shoulders and back. She rinsed her hair as well as she could and just stood under the water waiting for Sesshoumaru to return with her bag so she could bathe properly.

Sesshoumaru returned to camp and picked up the new kimono that he had sent for yesterday and put it in her bag along with a blanket. He picked up her bag and then removed the hares from the fire. He cared everything back to the falls and almost dropped the food when he saw Kagome under the falls. He just stared as the water careened down her body. He was captivated as Kagome ran her hands over her body. He felt his lower body jerk to life as he continued to watch her.

Sesshoumaru sat everything down and found a pot to put the hares in then dug through the pack to find the items he knew Kagome would want. Since he was going to get wet he undressed and made his way to her. He flew to the falls and landed on the ledge behind Kagome. He sat the soap and shampoo down on a ledge above him and then grasped Kagome around her waist and pulled her back against his body.

When she came to his nipples she playfully rubbed the soap around and flicked them with her fingers. They tightened to stiff little peaks she moved her hands down his body. She knelt down and was faced with his erection. She put more soap in her hands and washed around his erection making sure not to actually touch it just yet. She licked up the blood and then lowered her head onto his chest.

Being in control took a lot out of her. She closed her eyes and listening to his heartbeat and just before she fell asleep she whispered "I love you Sesshoumaru."

Sesshoumaru felt her bite his neck and drink of his blood once again. She must have decided to become a youkai. He rubbed her back and left her on top of him then he moved her hair out of her face and kissed her forehead. "I love you to Kagome." He closed his eyes and joined his mate in sleep.

Kagome awoke when she felt him move her hair out of her face then she heard him say that he loved her and she smiled then returned to sleep.
