A Fine Mess

Chise waited for Fusao to emerge from the barrier he created. So far nothing happened and therefore she assumed he was still playing with his new toy. Men were such incompetent beings and she didn’t know why the fuck she put up with them. If they had not been all related to each other she would have left them all to die long ago.

First Daiki and Akio were killed over a dog. Not even a full blooded dog, but a half breed demon that wasn’t worth the gold that the elder brother had been. If they had been more careful like she stated at the beginning they could have killed the elder brother and skinned him before he could escape. His pelt would have brought in a fortune. Unfortunately she was stuck with second hand pelts from Inu servants and poorly trained guards that would not come near what a Lord’s soft pelt would have sold for. They were small and the fur was not nearly as luxurious.

Looking at the first shipment of pelts piled neatly on the ground Chise counted them two more times to make sure she had not been cheated. Cats were crafty creatures and although her cousin tribe was more than happy to help they were also greedy.

The dock was being loaded with all the other treasures they had stolen from the castle. Expensive silks, tapestries, furniture, gold and silver goblets, and many other items of value were inventoried to be sold to other demons along with any humans that were found near the castle. They were to be used for both food and the children would be excellent slaves for those willing to buy.

“My Lady is this all of the furs? We are ready to sail.”

Captain Jaures stated as the cat pirate smirked at the woman who had given him and his crew a large portion of the loot for themselves along with a few young females to do with as they pleased.

“No we are still waiting for at least another load like this one and the rest of my cousins to return from pillaging the castle. Still, go ahead and load these.”

Jaures nodded and had his men take the rest of the load aboard ship.

Kamarasui watched and shook her head preparing to depart. This female cat was in over her head and Kamarasui wanted nothing to do with her once Lord Sesshoumaru returned for his Mother. She took her gold and left as quickly as she came only to be stopped by Chise.

“Where are you going witch?”

Kamarasui sighed and pushed past Chise.

“My work here is done. I have done what you asked. You have not paid me enough to capture the new Inu No Tashio. I made no promise to stay to watch you kill yourselves.”

Chise grasped Kamarasui’s arm.

“You are not going anywhere. I will pay you what you were promised and then some. I need you to subdue the half breed. Sesshoumaru will fall if his pups are in danger. You said you have a spell that may dissipate the barrier around the broken castle of Lord Togaou.”

Kamarasui wasn’t sure if she cared about more money. Her life was now at stake.

“I do not care anymore. He is coming and he is as I told you. Not sentimental and cold as ice. The Prince of the Winter Moon will destroy you Lady Chise. You fool with things you do not understand.”

Chise had enough and pulled out her knife.

“I will gut you first if you do not do as I say. Either help us or die.”

Kamarasui laughed.

“You would not kill me. I have value to you.”

Chise growled.

“Not if you run from me you bitch. I promise you I will make sure you are hunted down for your part in this if you do not help us. I will let Lord Sesshoumaru come for you anyway so you can leave a rich woman or die here for all I care. Make your choice, but know if you run I will make sure you are blamed for the whole plan.”

Kamarasui muttered a curse under her breath. She had no choice.

“Fine, I will stay. But know you will die cat demon and it will be a slow death.”

With that Kamarasui was let go of and Chise went back to work.

Inuyasha was up most of the night thinking of what a bastard his mate was. The guy told him straight up he wasn’t loyal and yet Inuyasha was. The jerk mated him too without his permission. Stupid bastard. If he thought Inuyasha was going to just stay in the barrier and wait for him all year he could go to hell.

At that thought Inuyasha got up forgetting Shippo was on his lap as the pup fell on the ground and grumbled.

“Ouch!”

“Get up brat we are going to go find Sesshoumaru.”

Shippo panicked.

“But Sesshoumaru said to stay in the barrier. Aren’t you supposed to do what your mate says?”

Inuyasha growled.

“Not when your mate is my bastard of a brother. Besides I have tessaiga so I can protect us.”

Shippo didn’t think this was a very good idea, but Inuyasha insisted.

“Look you are a kid and you are supposed to listen to your elders and betters so quit your whimpering and let’s go.”

Inuyasha stated stomping into the woods certain that he would find his bastard brother probably in the middle of some lecherous activity with some random female or male. Either way the pervert was going to get it. Having a bunch of kids without mating their Mothers was just wrong and Sesshoumaru was going to hear about that too. What kind of parent was this asshole going to be anyway?

Of course running into Kouga was the last thing he needed right now, but that was just whom happened to be going in the same direction as Inuyasha.

“Hey mutt face…..”

Inuyasha sighed.

“What do you want wolf?”

Kouga smirked.

“Well it looks like you are a beta mate. So does this mean my Kagome is free again?”

Inuyasha held back the tears that threatened as he looked down.

“Kouga, Kagome is dead. Cat demons killed her and Miroku.”

Kouga was in shock. He couldn’t believe it.

“You swore you would protect her!”

Kouga shook his head and backed away.

Inuyasha told the whole story and how he became mated as well.

“So your jerk of a brother forced you to be his mate. Doesn’t surprise me any. Still, you shouldn’t be out here on your own in your condition.”

Inuyasha snorted.

“I can take care of myself.”

Kouga snorted at that.

“Listen to your own story and say that again mutt face.”

Inuyasha growled and went to attack Kouga, but Kouga avoided his punches.

“I won’t fight you while you are with pup ya idiot.”

Inuyasha snarled.

“I ain’t some weak female you jerk! I’ll show you who needs help!”

Kouga would have laughed his ass off if he wasn’t trying to avoid those claws and he had no jewel shards to move faster than he was already going.

“Oh great, the two idiots are at it again.”

Shippo muttered wandering back towards the barrier until he was caught by Inuyasha and hanging upside down with Inuyasha’s firm grip on his tail.

“What did you say?”

Shippo crossed his arms.

“You both are too busy fighting and you are disobeying your alpha mate Inuyasha. Why should I sit around here watching you fight when I could be where I am supposed to be unlike you? You are going to have to explain where you were. I am just a kid so I can’t control you, but I can control me and I don’t have to follow you.”

Shippo got a lump on his head for being a smart ass and talking back to his parent. Kouga just frowned and muttered when he wasn’t allowed to discipline the brat also.

“You ain’t his parent. I got stuck with him so I get to punish him.”

Kouga sighed and leaned back against the tree.

“You know that the brat is right Inuyasha.”

Inuyasha shrugged.

“I don’t care. I am going to find my mate and see why he is taking so damn long. I will not be made a fool of. He already thinks love is like a disease or something so he is probably out there looking for someone else to impregnate like he did me. If he thinks he is going to get away with that shit then he can find someone else to mark and keep. I ain’t gonna put up with it.”

Kouga smirked and ran his hand along the back of his neck.

“Well if he don’t want ya………you can always live with us wolves. Our kind mate for life.”

Inuyasha snorted.

“That is all I need……thanks but no thanks pal. I got enough problems being mated to one jerk. I think after this experience I will be happy to be a confirmed bachelor.”

Kouga followed Inuyasha as Inuyasha as Inuyasha started to take off. Kouga put a hand on Inuyasha’s arm.

“No, I am serious Inuyasha. You can come home with me if ya want.”

Inuyasha pulled away looking at Kouga like he lost his marbles.

“I can’t do that.”

Kouga frowned.

“Why not?”

Inuyasha sighed.

“Half demon remember and like mated. My brother is a bastard, but at least I understand the asshole and half the shit in the barrier is mine even if he won’t admit it. I am like a Prince and shit. Just like you I have responsibilities. Just because my mate walks away from his leaving bastard children everywhere doesn’t mean I am going to let him get away with it. That is the whole point of this……this………plan…..”

Kouga crossed his arms over his chest.

“I didn’t figure you for one who would plan anything. I thought you just ran into everything head first and worried about the consequences later on.”

Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

“Well I have responsibilities now. I have to plan shit out. So you coming or what?”

Kouga wasn’t sure if he should. Still he followed along due to the fact Inuyasha was with pup and should not be out wandering around without protection. Plus even though Inuyasha’s voice had not changed he was rather attractive in this new form. He might get raped or some shit so Kouga decided to follow.
