What's A Dragon to Do?

Chapter 2

~Earlier that evening~

Sesshoumaru watched Rin and Jaken in the garden from his study window. You would think that by now Jaken would not be as mean to Rin as he was. He hated to leave Rin alone with the imp but his brother was in his lands and he could not miss the opportunity to spy on him and his party, or to be precise one member of his party, the human girl Kagome.

She traveled with his brother. Why she still did he didn't know. They had defeated Naraku a few months past. He had thought that they would have all went their different ways by now. But the group still hung together.

Sesshoumaru went to his room and grabbed his armor and walked to his balcony. He called forth his cloud and took to the air. He would spy on the girl for a little while then return.

It didn't take him long to find his brother's group. He covered his scent and aura so that Inuyasha would not know he was there. He landed far enough away from the group so he could hear what was being said but not close enough that his brother would see him.

He just wanted to see the girl not fight with his brother. The human girl bothered him. He could not get her out of his mind. Every time he slept she would be in his dreams. He saw her as she pulled the Tetsusaiga from his father's tomb and ruining all his plans to take the sword from his brother.

She never feared him. She would face him in battle without a hint of fear. There were very few who did not fear him and fewer yet who would not fear an attack by him but countless times this human had stood up to him. She had even returned his arm to him despite his brothers ranting not too long before the final battle with Naraku.

But what really disturbed his dreams was when he saw her by his side. She was not as he saw her now though. She was large with his pups and was always smiling. This is what had disturbed him the most. He the demon lord who hated humans was dreaming of one having his pup. Why he dreamed of her he had no idea. She was a strange human. Her clothes alone were very unusual.

Sure there were demonesses who wore scantly clad attire but nothing that would compare to hers. Did she even know how much her skirt revealed when she bent over? No wonder his brother and the monk were always finding chores for her to due that involved bending.

Not that I have spent that much time observing her to notice such things but then again when she was around you couldn't help but notice certain things and like his brother and the monk he wasn't one to turn away from a beautiful sight. What am I saying? I surely didn't use the word beautiful when describing a human.

I must need a respite from my work if I did that. Maybe that's what happens if one works for decades without a break. They start doing unusual things and start to go crazy. Perhaps if I got to see her more I could get her out of my thoughts.

Sesshoumaru watched the girl and the kitsune sneak past his brother and head away from camp and into the forest. He followed silently above her. He hadn't followed her long before some unknown force struck him. It knocked him back and he had to close his eyes due to the brightness of the attack.

When he righted himself and looked down to the forest the girl and the kitsune was nowhere in sight. The ground where they had been standing was scorched as if it had been on fire. The trees closest to where they had been standing were still smoking. What had happened?

He looked around for tracks but didn't find any then he sniffed the air. I know that scent. He looked to the sky and saw his dragon flying toward his castle. What was it doing with the girl and her pup? He took off for the sky to follow the dragon. He would find out what the beast was up to.

Ah turned his head and sniffed the air then quickly turned his head to look behind them. He turned back around and looked to Un "Lord Sesshoumaru is following us. What do we do now?"

"Do not forget that we are a dragon. We have magical powers he has not learned of yet. We may not match up to him in demon power but with our magic we can deal with this. And I think I know just what to do to him and the girl." Un smiled at Ah and looked back to check on the human and her pup on his back.

"What are you planning?" Ah looked at Un. He wasn't as sure as Un about being able to survive doing this. Sesshoumaru was sure to kill them. But he went this far with Un and for Rin he would go the rest of the way. “I just hope we survive this.”

Un waited till Sesshoumaru had gotten closer to them. He turned his head and picked Kagome up and when Sesshoumaru was close enough he dropped her.

Sesshoumaru watched his dragon carry the human and the kitsune. Have they gone mad? They have never done anything like this before. He followed them getting closer and closer to the dragon. He stopped for a second when he saw Un lift the human in his mouth but then sped up to catch up with the dragon.

He was soon very close to them the watched in shock as the dragon dropped the human. He saw her falling to the ground. Sesshoumaru flew down and caught her before she could touch the trees that were to close for his comfort. He looked up and saw the dragons close to him.

"What do you think you are doing Ah Un? Who told you to steal the human and kitsune? You will return with the kitsune to the castle." Sesshoumaru flew up in front of the dragon and held Kagome close to him to protect her from the dragon. He didn't want to take the chance that they might get a hold of her again. The next time he might not be able to save her. And until he discovered what made him dream of her he needed her safe.

Ah and Un had watched Sesshoumaru catch the human then fly up to them and order them back to the castle. They saw how Sesshoumaru held the girl and nodded at each other. Ah opened his mouth and let out a ball of energy and let it encircle the unsuspecting lord and the human.

Sesshoumaru waited for the dragon to head to the castle and was unprepared when it made an energy ball and sent it to him and Kagome. He turned to take the brunt of the attack shielding Kagome with his body. He would not let his dragon harm her. He didn't expect to be encased in the ball.

He didn't even know that Ah Un could do something like that. He laid Kagome down on the cloud at his feet and drew Tokijin and blasted the wall of the ball. He stared at the wall in shock. Tokijin had done no damage to the ball. He sheathed his sword and picked Kagome back up again. He would just have to wait till she awoke and hopefully her miko powers could release them.

Ah and Un watched their lord use his sword to try and destroy their energy ball and knew it would be useless.

"Are you going to tell him or am I?" Ah looked to Un.

"I think you should be the one. I after all came up with the plan. You can at least be the one to tell Sesshoumaru." Un smiled at Ah.

"That's why you should be the one to tell him you know more about it than I do and I don't trust him not to try and kill me." Ah looked at the orb floating in front of them and shuddered at the angry expression on Sesshoumaru's face.

"You always were the coward Ah" Un just shook his head "Of all the other heads I could have been attached to I got you." He looked to the orb and then turned to look at Ah "Very well I will tell him. Just keep an eye on the kitsune while I do."

Sesshoumaru saw the ball fill with fog and a shadow heading toward him and Kagome. He set her down again and drew his sword to face what ever was coming toward them. He saw what looked like a youkai in front of him. Although the youkai had no scent but the features clearly defined the being as a youkai.

"Who are you, what do you want, and what have you done to my dragon?"

"I have never known you to ask so many questions Lord Sesshoumaru. Don't worry I am not here to harm you or the human. We are here to help you and her. You both need our help and we have decided to make sure you take our offer. You are the youkai lord that has his heart encased in ice. You were unable to love and care about anyone or anything, until a small human girl came your way. Then your life changed but still you deny your feelings. Well Lord Sesshoumaru you can no longer hide your feeling from us. In this orb we can feel what you feel. And until we are satisfied you cannot leave this orb. We will protect you until you are released. Until that time we suggest that you make the best of this situation." Un turned and walked away from the pair and slowly disappeared in the mist.

Sesshoumaru saw the being disappearing from sight, "Who are you?"

"We will tell you in time."

Sesshoumaru picked Kagome up again and braced himself when he felt the orb moving. He saw Ah Un following the orb and seemed to be guiding it. After about an hour the orb entered into a cave and the dragon followed the orb into it. Sesshoumaru saw the mist returning and the being once again appeared in front of him.

"Now Lord Sesshoumaru we need you to write a letter to Jaken telling him to care for the kitsune pup until your return." The being handed Sesshoumaru some paper and pen and ink.

"Why would I do that?" Sesshoumaru took the paper and the pen and left the ink in the beings hands.

"What would happen if the miko awoke and you told her that you left her kit to fend for himself? She would not be very happy with you." Un watched his lord and saw a slight grimace cross his face before he could hide it. He held the ink out to the lord and watched him take it from him and write the letter they had requested.

Sesshoumaru was furious. He had never been in a situation that he couldn't control. Now he was trapped in an orb with a miko that he was curious about, by his dragon that had obviously went crazy or was possessed by whoever the being was in front of him.

He was writing a letter to Jaken ordering him to care for a kitsune pup. Ah Un and who ever was controlling them were going to pay dearly when he got out of this orb. He finished the letter and handed it to the being in front of him.

"Who are you? I will not ask again."

"I am Un my Lord Sesshoumaru" It only took him seconds to see his lord look from him to the outside of the orb to the dragon standing close to the orb. One of its heads bent down. He watched Sesshoumaru glance from the dragon to him. "Yes My Lord we are the same."

"How dare you do this to me. I rescued you and protected you and you do this to me?" Sesshoumaru watched the being in front of him. He drew Tokijin and slashed the being in front of him. He watched in satisfaction as the being disappeared. He frowned however when the being showed himself again.

"My Lord we do not disrespect you. We are very grateful for all you have done for us. And we chose this way to repay you." Un bowed his head and waited for his lord's anger to fade away.

"You call this repaying me. I would hate to see what you do to your true enemies." Sesshoumaru sheathed his sword and crossed his arms.

"You may not believe us at this time my Lord but soon you will see what we have done is for the best. Please just enjoy your stay in the world we are to make for you. We will see you again soon." Un bowed once again and disappeared.

Sesshoumaru watched the dragon outside the orb leave the cave and could see the barrier it had erected over the opening. He turned to the human girl lying at his feet. Surely she should have awoken before now. He knelt down beside her and made sure she was not seriously harmed.

He didn't find any wounds on her, although her hair was a little singed, and the parts of her body that didn't have any covering was just a little red. Ah Un's blast must have really knocked her out. He sat down beside her and lifted her into his lap. He would hold her till she started to awake then he would release her. He inhaled her scent and before long he felt himself drifting off to sleep.
