One Over the Other

Chapter 2: The Fallout



When they got to the Manor Kagome stormed up to Inuyasha’s room knowing he wasn’t there and took the bathing suit she’d left there as well as the extra pair of clothes and put it all in Sesshomaru’s room before changing into her bathing suit and going out to the pool. She hurt all over but she needed to meditate more. She walked through the house to the pool and the second she reached it’s side she dived in and sank as far down into the water as she could casting a barrier around the pool as she released her energy into the water and started to meditate not bothering to come up to breath because her powers protected her from drowning. Again the spike in her energy was felt but only to those within the Manor. Sesshomaru went to see what she was doing and after watching her for several minutes and not seeing her come up for air once grew worried and moved to retrieve her from the pool. But her barrier stopped him.



“Kagome?”



“I am fine Sesshomaru I must meditate for a bit longer I will come to you when I am done.”



He nodded having a feeling she would understand the silence. Kagome sunk into herself and reined in her powers even more so that by the time she was done pulling it all back she barely held any power in her aura at all. Leaving the pool Kagome dried herself with the towel that had been placed on one of the pool side chairs for her and walked up to Sesshomaru’s room. She found he wasn’t within his room and sighed and left the room to speak with Lord Touga. Going to his study she knocked gently.



“Come in Kagome.”



“Hello Lord Touga.”



He smiled and indicated for her to sit.



“Was that you earlier I felt you even here in the manor I didn’t know you possessed such power…it’s truly amazing .”



“Thank Lord Touga but I must ask a favor of you.”



“What do you need of me?”



“Your aware miko’s are to be registered just as youkai are correct?”



He nodded mutely.



“I am not registered and they have been seeking me out for several years and until now I’ve managed to keep my powers under my full control and not get as angry as I was earlier. I fear they may find me…what should I do milord?”



Touga was silent a moment and sighed he was worried now to not register was against the humans laws but he understood why Mrs. Higurashi had not registered her. With powers as strong as hers the government would have taken Kagome away as a child and honed her powers and then used her as a tool of the militaries.



“I love all beings milord except those who give me reason not to love them it is my way to love as such even without being a miko…if they were to get me I fear them trying to use me as a weapon against any youkai they wanted to get rid of if not all the youkai in Japan. This has been my biggest fear since I was old enough to understand life and death. Please help me.”



Touga sighed and looked up at Kagome and saw the blunt fear in her eyes and sighed heavily.



“I will do what I can to help you Kagome but I must know what caused you to grow so angry?”



Kagome looked down in shame and told him everything about how Inuyasha had found her and Sesshomaru kissing up until they pulled from the school parking lot. Touga was disgusted with Inuyasha and would deal with him later the boy really did cause way too much trouble. What made it so bad was that this time it might cause someone their life.



“Go get some rest Kagome I will call your mother and talk with her on the matter more. When we have a plan I will come and talk with you do not worry if I can protect you I will do so to the best of my ability.”



Kagome nodded and went back to Sesshomaru’s room and showered taking a pair of his boxers and a t-shirt to sleep in. She didn’t know where he’d gone but she’d find him when she woke up right now she really needed to rest her tired and sore body. Sesshomaru came back in several hours later and went to his room feeling Kagome within. When he walked in she was fast asleep the shirt she was wearing having risen up to just above her belly button and the boxers she was wearing sitting a bit lower on her hips. He was struck with how cute she looked in his clothing but didn’t dwell on it to long. He was still a bit riled up from beating the living daylights out of Inuyasha and after grabbing some clean boxers and a beater to put on. Kagome woke up to hear Sesshomaru’s shower going and smiled to herself happy he was back. She took out the blue jean mini and black off the shoulder but backless shirt she’d pulled from Inuyasha’s room. She sat on the edge of the bed and gabbed her black heels and started strapping them on. Sesshomaru came out of the bathroom with his towel wrapped around his waist. Kagome blushed lightly and looked down while walking into the bathroom and getting his brush before again seating herself on the edge of his bed.



“Were my clothes comfortable?”



“Very.”



She smiled up at him and then looked off to the side thinking to herself. When she looked back at Sesshomaru after pulling out of her thoughts she saw he was dressed in some draw string black pants and a still wearing his beater. Kagome closed her eyes and let her body fall back into the pile of covers behind her. If she was going to be honest she still didn’t feel like doing anything but sleeping. Pulling her shirt off facing away from Sesshomaru she put the shirt she’d slept in back on and then pulled off her skirt and forwent the boxers she borrowed and climbed back under the covers with a yawn.



“You sleep to much woman.”



Kagome laughed softly.



“Today has been very stressful. I sleep my stress away.”



She shrugged with a lazy smile and grabbed a pillow to snuggle against. While laying her head on the other one. Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow in question.



“Where’s my pillow?”



Kagome smirked turning away from him.



“I honestly don’t have a clue. I might give you one of mine if you ask nicely enough.”



“May I have a pillow little miko?”



“No I’m using them right now sorry.”



Sesshomaru sat on the bed and reached over to her and started to tickle her mercilessly. Rin peeked in at all the noise coming from Sesshomaru’s normally quiet room and wanted to laugh when she saw her usually cold hearted brother laughing and smiling with Kagome begging him to stop his torture. Rin almost wanted to help her almost, but she knew what it was like to have Sesshomaru tickling her. Closing the door quietly she went to look in Inuyasha’s room and found him inside throwing things against the walls and pacing angrily.



“Inuyasha sit down and stop making so much noise I’m trying to work on my project some and I can’t think with all your noise. Besides from the beating it look like Sesshomaru gave you you might want to rest as much as you can before father comes to see you or calls you.”



It was then that Touga yelled for Inuyasha to come to his study immediately and both Rin and Inuyasha winced at his tone. Rin left and went to her room to work on her project since Sesshomaru’s room had again gone silent. Kagome was panting trying to catch her breath while Sesshomaru just lay there laughing to himself. After, catching her breath Kagome glared over at him and attempted to snatch back ‘her’ pillow. Seeing her attack coming Sesshomaru rolled atop her and caught her wrists in one hand and pinned them above her head. Sticking her tongue out at him she fought to free her hands laughing the entire time.



“I remember telling you that next time you stuck your tongue out at me it would be put to proper use."



Kagome stopped her struggling and blushed five shades deeper then she usually managed to achieve.



“You wouldn’t dare Sesshomaru Taisho.”



He quirked his eyebrow an evil look crossing his face. He got up and walked into his bathroom and turned on the shower making sure it was warm enough, then he return to the bed and grabbed Kagome and slung her over his shoulder carrying her despite her protests into the bathroom and locking the door before he stepped into the shower with her still slung over his shoulder. He set her down in the spray both of them still fully clothed; Kagome stared at him in shock she honestly hadn’t thought he would do it. Then it struck her if he’d done this what else would he do if she dared him to do it? Snapping from her thoughts she turned her back on Sesshomaru but otherwise remained where she was, not saying a word.



“Kagome.”



Kagome turned a small bit and looked at him over her shoulder only to find him shirtless. She continued to look at him even as he turned her around to face him and pulled her to his chest. Standing on her toes Kagome leaned in and kissed his lips gently. By the time they finally left Sesshomaru’s room several hours later Kagome went straight to Touga’s study to see what decision he and her mother had come up with. Touga noticed the difference in her scent immediately as well as the suppression of her powers do to what had occurred between her and Sesshomaru. Kagome could feel the difference and wanted answers as to why her powers were acting this way it was legend that a miko loses her powers after losing her virginity.



“I know you can feel the difference in my powers and smell the difference in my scent what has happened to me Lord Touga?”



“That Kagome I do not know. They are merely suppressed now but not gone like most miko’s powers would be after rutting with a youkai.”



“Is there no way for them to no longer be suppressed?”



“That my dear can only be figured out when the thing that suppresses them is found out.”



Kagome stood and rushed from his study feeling the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. Sesshomaru was in his room but he offered her nothing but a confused look and unlike he usually did with her he didn’t comfort her or anything just left his room for the quiet of the library. Kagome cried for several hours stopping only when Rin came in and asked her what was wrong. She looked up with teary eyes and told Rin not only of her powers being suppressed suddenly but of the fact that since they’d had sex Sesshomaru seemed to not want to be in the same room as her or touch her if she was within the same room. He hadn’t even spoken to her afterward. She also confided that she hadn’t thought to make him use protection at the time. Rin held her as she cried and when Kagome had settled down some more she spoke.



“Kagome Sesshomaru doesn’t usually act the way he’s acted with you with girls in fact you’re the first girl he’s ever let stay in his room or use his things. He doesn’t laugh and smile and joke with them either. An even if he wanted to piss Inuyasha off he’d never show the affection he shows you to any girl in public. If I’m right and I probably am he’s running from you because for the first time in his life he doesn’t want to get rid of you now that he’s had sex with you and he’s not used to that.”



“But what if you’re wrong and he doesn’t want me?”



Rin smoothed her hair back and smiled.



“He cares about you Kagome I can tell.”



Kagome sniffled and nodded but still looked unsure on the matter but her tears had drained her of what energy she had managed to recover but she didn’t want to stay in Sesshomaru’s room any longer.



“Is there somewhere I can rest for a while Rin?”



Rin nodded and led her to her room and let her rest in her bed while she went in search of her elder brother. Walking into the library since that was where Sesshomaru usually went to think when he couldn’t do so within his own room.



“Sesshomaru what are you doing? I mean really both you and Inuyasha have got to be the dumbest beings in Japan.”



Sesshomaru growled at the comparison but said nothing on it.



“I just listened to her cry for I don’t know how many hours and when she finally did stop it was because I went in your room and comforted her. Something you should have been trying to do not me. She’s worried about your treatment of her and other things like her powers but then I’m not sure if you really care. But apparently both you and Inuyasha lack the ability to see clearly around Kagome and in doing so act like complete ass’s when she needs you.”



Rin turned with a scowl on her face and left the library. Rin’s rant only added questions to Sesshomaru’s already impressive list. He remained locked within the library thinking for several hours more so that it was the wee hours of the morning when he returned to his room. He had been expecting to find Kagome asleep in his bed but it was empty. Stepping into the hall he sniffed the air and found that Kagome’s scent was old and dull. He sighed and went and laid in his bed his eyes closed as he thought about how it felt to have her body pressed to his own and how perfectly it seemed to fit every curve of his body like it was made for him specifically. Kagome laid in her bed her eyes red even under the cool cloth she had over her eyes. Mrs. Higurashi had told her she didn’t have to get up or do anything tomorrow if she didn’t want to and that she would bring her her meals if she wanted to lay in bed all day. Mrs. Higurashi was preparing lunch when she heard the doorbell ring. Getting the door she looked at Sesshomaru in question.



“Hello Sesshomaru.”



“Hello Mrs. Higurashi. Can I see Kagome please?”



“Wait here.”



Walking upstairs she asked softly if Kagome wanted to see Sesshomaru. Kagome shook her head no as another round of tears started to pour from her eyes and she again started sobbing. She just didn’t understand, why so much had to happen at once. Returning to the door Rika informed Sesshomaru that Kagome didn’t wish to see him and he nodded though she saw the slight slump of his posture.



“Just give her some time Sesshomaru.”



He nodded and sighed softly and left heading to the bar to get a drink for his father. Kagome’s sobs had reached his ears and he felt his heart wrench. It troubled him that he’d made her cry so just by showing up to talk to her. Kagome got up and took a hot shower before dressing in a pair of baggy jeans and an even baggier t-shirt, her hair in a messy ponytail her bangs falling about her face. She left the house taking her mother’s car and going to the store for no reason at all other, then to be outside her house and room. She wandered up the street looking at the window displays of the other shops around her. After, about and hour of aimless walking she drove back toward the shrine and got Rin’s clothes which her mom had washed and dried. She headed toward the Manor and knocked on the door. Sesshomaru answered and simply started at her, he’d never seen her dressed like this, he liked how simple and still pleasing it was.



“Rin home?”



“She’s upstairs, but we need to talk.”



“I came to return these clothes to Rin not talk or argue with you…just give Rin her clothes back please.”



Shoving the clothes into his arms she turned and walked back to the car and got inside. Before she could close the door however Sesshomaru was standing before her. He reached into the car and made to grab her but Kagome began to cry and told him leave her alone and that he’d done enough. He stepped back from her shocked and watched as she drove off back toward the shrine. He gave Rin her clothes and then went to his room and closed the door not coming out for the rest of the weekend. When school came Monday morning he walked into the building and went to his first period to see several people staring between himself and Kagome as they walked down the hall both of them on either side of the hall. Kagome’s friend Ayame popped up and asked her what was wrong but Kagome only shook her head and said nothing Ayame pulled her into a side staircase and told her to start explaining. Kagome ignored her and left the stairwell to again head to her class which she angrily realized she shared with not only Inuyasha but Sesshomaru both of which she had no desire to see. She peered into the classroom and saw only Sesshomaru and the teacher inside stepping inside she told the teacher she didn’t feel well and asked if she could have the work and return it to her at the end of the class period. Sesshomaru couldn’t understand his obsessive need to talk with her or at least make her listen to him but he leaned back in his chair and spoke up.



“There is nothing wrong with her nothing that would keep her from class anyway.”



The teacher looked to Kagome in question and she nodded that this was in fact true and tried to explain herself but the teacher though looking sympathetic couldn’t allow her to miss class unless she was ill. Kagome nodded sadly and took her seat resting her head on her arms as she cried softly to herself. Rika had made her a small bracelet that concealed her scent and the fact that her powers were being suppressed unless it was removed. The teacher left out the room to get some coffee from the teachers’ lounge before class started leaving them by their selves. Sesshomaru rose silently and settled himself next to her silently. He brushed his fingers through her hair sighing softly when she froze under his touch.



“Kagome I am not trying to get rid of you. I was trying to sort out what it was I was feeling…I want you to be my mate. You already carry my pup if the smell of you Saturday was anything to go by.”



Kagome looked up at him with both horror and confusion in her eyes.



“I’m what?”



“You’re pregnant with my child Kagome and I wish for you to keep it.”



Kagome’s hands unconsciously went to her stomach before her eyes closed and she turned away from him.



“How many other girls have you gotten pregnant and asked to keep or get rid of the child?”



“None you are the first to ever carry my child.”



“What do you want from me Sesshomaru?”



He stroked her hair back from her face and stared directly into her eyes.



“I want you to be my mate and the mother to any children I sire.”



Kagome just stared at him.



“I need to think.”



Standing she rose and left not only the room but the building going home since her mother was off from work today to tell her all that Sesshomaru was asking of her. Three days passed and still Kagome didn’t go to school she was too stressed out to think of anything but what was happening to her once content life. Rika had taken her to the hospital where she worked and done a pregnancy test on her personally and privately. The results would come in today and Rika had promised to call her with the results as soon as she got them. Kagome not for the first time was happy her mother was a doctor and an OB/GYN doctor at that so she could actually deliver Kagome’s baby if she was pregnant. Kagome was laying in bed fast asleep when Rika called her but Kagome slept right through the ringing of both the house phone and her cell phone. Rika sent her a text message telling her she was indeed pregnant. Kagome woke up just as her mother was coming home from work and stretched and rubbed the sleep from her when Rika walked into her room.



“Hey mom.”



“Did you get the message I sent you?”



Kagome gave her a confused look and Rika sat on the bed beside her a calming smile on her lips.



“You’re pregnant Kagome and it looks like you’re at least three and a half months along. Which is weird because you just lost your virginity a few days ago…”



Kagome picked up her phone and called Sesshomaru who didn’t bother to answer his phone even though he saw it was Kagome. He looked at the woman across the table from him and saw her annoyed look. He offered her a soothing smile.



“Who was that Sesshomaru?”



“No one for you to worry about.”



She smiled back finally and their dinner went on without any more problems. Kagome stared at her phone in anger and annoyance. He’d gotten her pregnant and now he wasn’t answering his phone when she wished to talk with him about their child. She took a shower and called the Manor a few hours later to see if he was home yet.



“Hi, Lord Touga it’s Kagome is Sesshomaru home?”



“No, he’s out with…what is her name…ah yes my accountant’s daughter Jessica.”



Kagome felt her emotions flare within her chest.



“Thank you tell him I said we need to talk about our situation.”



Touga could sense her anger and annoyance through her voice and sighed what the hell was Sesshomaru doing.



“He told me about the pup would this have anything to do with that?”



“He asked me to keep the pup and become his mate but if he’s dating someone else I already know my answer to both questions. Thank you for all your help Lord Touga and good bye.”



Kagome hung up before he could say anything more and laid on her bed her hands on her stomach. She wasn’t going to get rid of her baby but she wasn’t going to let Sesshomaru get anywhere near her or her baby either. She called the Manor back happy it was again Touga who answered.



“How long is a youkai pregnancy Lord Touga?”



“Three months.”



“Thank you.”



Again she hung up before he could say anything more and returned to her bed. Sesshomaru called her three hours later after he had dropped Jessica off home and was heading home. Kagome picked up after a long moment and asked him what he wanted with a cold voice.



“What have you decided Kagome.”



“That you can burn in hell and stay the hell away from me.”



Then she hung up on him and left him to stare at him phone in both anger and hurt. He detoured to the shrine and knocked on the door. Rika looked at him but said nothing waiting for him to explain his sudden and unwelcomed visit.



“I need to speak with Kagome immediately it is very important.”



“If she says leave you will leave immediately?”



He nodded and she allowed him in. Sesshomaru went straight to Kagome’s room and opened the door to see her curled up on her bed looking between her phone and her stomach. She looked up at him but before she could tell him go away he covered her mouth.



“Woman this is my pup to you will not get rid of my pup.”



Kagome glared at him.



“This is my body and if I do not wish to have your child there is nothing you can do about it. If you want a child that bad pick someone else because it won’t be me…”



Her eyes softened as tears came to her eyes.



“I hate you Sesshomaru I hate you so much.”



He sighed and tried to pull her close.



“You do not hate me you are only hurt by some of the things I’ve done. Think this completely through Kagome. If you truly do not wish to have my pup or be bound to me then say so now and I will leave you alone.”



“I don’t wanna be bound to you Sesshomaru in anyway.”



He could smell the lie in her words but he would not press her. He stood and leaned down leaving her with a soft kiss on the forehead. Kagome just turned from him facing her wall curled in a ball.



“Did you have a nice time with Jessica?”



Sesshomaru stopped in her doorway.



“It was fine but she is nosey and not worth more then her father’s current position in the company.”



Kagome ‘hmmed’ and said nothing more to him as he finished leaving the shrine. He went home and slammed his door shut after entering his room. Touga walked in a few minutes later not caring that Sesshomaru wanted to be alone.



“Fix this pup if you want to be happy in your life and know your pup.”



“She is not going to keep the pup or become my mate.”



Touga rolled his eyes. Never before had he seen Sesshomaru like how he was with Kagome. He was usually a cold shell that felt nothing for no one but himself. With Kagome he was different he felt everything everyone else was capable of feeling and it showed openly.



“What did she say to you exactly?”



“‘I don’t want to be bound to you Sesshomaru in any way’”



Touga turned to go and leave his son to think about his errors in dealing with a being as fragile as Kagome.



“She’s going to keep the pup she just doesn’t want you to know that.”



Sesshomaru looked up in surprise and though most wouldn’t see the hope shining in his eyes Touga did.



“Hai, I know because she asked how long youkai pregnancies were. With Kagome she only asked a question like that if she is considering the full consequences of her decision.”



Touga left and Sesshomaru closed his eyes and went to sleep. Kagome had been out of school for almost three months when she suddenly returned. Her stomach was distended and very noticeable. But she wore a concealment spell over herself and while it still hid her scent and aura from everyone but Sesshomaru because he’d seen her without the concealment since it had been modified to conceal her pregnancy still saw her as she really was. It was during lunch that he was talking again with Jessica that Kagome walked into the cafeteria and saw them together talking and though Sesshomaru didn’t smile or anything and was following Kagome with his eyes she ignored him after her initial glance at him and got herself a fruit juice drink before again leaving the cafeteria. Jessica noticing his attention wasn’t on her looked over at Kagome as well.



“That’s the puny human girl you’ve supposedly been pinning over?”



Sesshomaru growled low in his throat and glared at her making her shrink back from him.



“Who I want has nothing to do with you for you are not her.”



Feeling insulted and more, then a little angry and hurt Jessica stood and left. Sesshomaru left the cafeteria and followed Kagome’s trail into the long forgotten library that none of the students or even teachers used anymore. He found her sitting in the back of the library her shirt up so that her stomach was visible rubbing her stomach. She looked up at him and pulled her shirt down.



“What do you want Sesshomaru?”



“To know how far along you are in the pregnancy so I can figure out when our pup is due.”



Kagome sighed and walked around him or at least tried to. Sesshomaru grabbed her arm and pulled her back pinning her to the wall with his lower body while making sure he didn’t apply to much pressure to her stomach.



“Why did you lie to me Kagome?”



“I didn’t lie to you Taisho and I don’t want you near me.”



He growled low and pushed her a little harder into the wall.



“You lie. Now tell me the truth Kagome.”



Kagome shook her head her eyes locking with his in both defiance and hurt.



“I have done nothing to hurt you besides use my words and avoid you. You can not say the same can you?”



Sesshomaru pulled away a little but not enough for her to free herself.



“I can not but what have I done to you that is so unforgivable that you miko would keep my pup from me?”



Kagome looked away.



“You broke my heart after I’d given you something that I can never give to another. What type of mate or husband do you expect me to be able to find when I am no longer pure and will have a child soon? What am I to do now…the only good thing to come of this whole mess is that I will no longer be hunted for my powers because thanks to you they have been suppressed and it seems they can not be unsuppressed.”



“How would you feel miko if I came to you after you birthed our child and ran off into the night with them keeping them from you and telling you that you will never see them?”



Kagome’s heart missed a beat and Sesshomaru felt it with their close proximity. He leaned into her making it so that his mouth was right by her ear and if he turned his head even a little his lips would almost be on hers.



“I am sorry that you got hurt Kagome but I will not let you keep me from my pup be it now or after the birth and with your powers suppressed neither you nor Lady Rika can stop me from being close by.”



Releasing her he was gone with a soft kiss to her lips and a gentle caress of her stomach. Kagome sank to the floor and wrapped her arms around her stomach tightly while sobbing. Sesshomaru keeping his word watched her silently though he was sure that she could neither see nor feel him nearby. It hurt him to have to do this to her to make her understand what she was doing to him but he felt it was the only way. Kagome went home and called Rika telling her all that Sesshomaru had said to her. Rika seeing where Sesshomaru was coming from could see that he was indeed hurting just like Kagome was.



“Kagome dear you need to go over to the Manor and talk to him about what it is you want and what he wants. I’ll come get you when I get off and we can go over together.”



“Okay mom.”



Kagome curled up on her bed and fell asleep dreaming of Sesshomaru and their pup and what it might look like. Rika woke her up when she got home and waited for her to put on her shoes so they could leave. When they reached the Manor it was to see Sesshomaru and some girl walking toward his car. Kagome had forgotten her bracelet and tried to shrink out of sight but it was useless, not only could Sesshomaru smell her scent but he’d already seen her and had forgotten all about Jessica standing there. Rika parked the car and looked over at Kagome who was just sitting there looking more then a little horrified at what was standing before her face. Rika rubbed her arm gently.



“Come on let’s get this all squared away and taken care of.”



Kagome sighed and nodded mutely her lips pressed tightly together to stop any sound or words from passing through them. Getting out of the car both Kagome and Rika walked pass them without saying a word. Sesshomaru turned and followed them into the Manor completely forgetting that Jessica existed. Kagome led the way to Lord Touga’s study and knocked on the door gently opening it when he said enter. Touga’s eyes lit up like Christmas had come to him early when he saw Kagome’s stomach before the rest of her.



“So little one I am to be a grandfather soon.”



Kagome smiled and rubbed her stomach gently smiling down at it. Rika followed her in followed by Sesshomaru who’s eyes had yet to move from Kagome’s swollen stomach when Kagome had settled in her chosen chair he kneeled beside it gently rubbing her stomach. Kagome stiffened but Sesshomaru paid this no heed and simply closed his eyes resting his forehead against her stomach as he began to listen intently. Kagome wanted to ask him what the hell he was doing but the words got stuck in her throat. A soft adoring smile touched Sesshomaru’s lips ever so slight before again disappearing as he realized what he was doing and stood and left with great haste. Touga frowned and sighed when Kagome finally relaxed.



“This must stop Kagome neither of you are going to do anything but hurt yourselves and the pup you now share responsibility for.”



Kagome rubbed her stomach and closed her eyes leaning her head back to rest on the chair.



“I don’t want to hurt him and I don’t want him to be away from me but I will not stop my actions when they are what is keeping me safe.”



Both Touga and Rika could understand that.



“But after all that Sesshomaru has done to try and make things up to you and show you that he meant none of it will you still punish not only him but yourself and the pup you now carry?”



“I know that I am hurting him but I can not help but do so because I am not hurting so much because I know he understands how hurt I myself am. I just need some more time.”



Rika crossed her arms and looked at Kagome a bit sternly.



“Kagome I think you have had enough time for the moment. I want you to go and find Sesshomaru if he is indeed still within the Manor and talk with him and until you do we are not leaving this property.”



Kagome looked at Rika in shock never had Rika told her to do something so hurtful to herself all for the sake of another. It was then that Kagome’s powers flared around her reawakening from their forced slumber. She screamed in pain as her stomach felt like it was wrapped in fire. Rika grabbed Kagome’s hand and connected with her powers pushing them down with as much force as she could and holding them their but still Kagome writhed in pain. Touga bellowed for Sesshomaru and felt him coming toward them as he to tried to push Kagome’s powers down.



“Suppress your energy Kagome.”



Kagome lay on the floor curled into a ball sobbing uncontrollably. Her stomach felt like it was ripping itself a part.



“I don’t want to lose my baby.”



She sobbed out pitifully and then Sesshomaru appeared and pulled her into his lap holding her close and brushing the hair from her face. He was unaffected by the flare of her powers that was suddenly pushing and holding both Rika and Touga back.



“I don’t want to lose our pup either koi.”



His youki spiked and twirled around Kagome’s own powers and slowly both of their powers started to recede. Kagome fell asleep clutching his shirt tightly as their energy returned to their normal levels.



“I love you Sessho…”



Kagome was fast asleep snuggled into Sesshomaru’s arms completely unaware of what she had just muttered and the reaction it was causing. Sesshomaru stood and handed Kagome off to his father leaving without a backward glance at her unconscious form. He left the Manor going to only person who might give him some peace so he could think, his mother. He reached her in no time and settled himself before her grave placing a dozen red roses on her grave silently. Touga and Rika both just stared at the sleeping Kagome with wide eyes. Neither of them knew what to do or say at the sudden turn of events. Touga placed Kagome in Sesshomaru’s room and left her there to sleep as he and Rika talked about what had to be done and how they were going to go about getting it done.

By the time Kagome was finally beginning to stir Sesshomaru had been back three long hours watching her sleep and thinking to himself. When she sat up and started to fall to the left because of her stomach Sesshomaru grabbed her firmly but gently and righted her before walking into his bathroom to take a shower. Kagome just sat there silently looking after him. She had a feeling something very important had happened between them but she couldn’t remember what it was. Standing she found herself in nothing but one of Sesshomaru’s t-shirts, her clothes folded and sitting on his dresser. Becoming angry at having her clothes removed without her permission she walked into the bathroom and leaned her weight against the sink so that it wasn’t all on her aching ankles.



“What the hell did you do to me while I was sleep Sesshomaru?”



He looked out of the shower at her his eyes narrowed at the accusation in her voice.



“I did nothing, not that you wouldn’t have liked it if I had lowered myself to do something to you.”



Kagome felt her powers start to rise and then the pain starting in her stomach she whimpered and clutched her stomach. But Sesshomaru did nothing but look out of the shower at her again.



“Push your powers back down onna or your powers will purify the pup within you.”



Kagome wanted to flinch at the coldness he expressed toward her. But she didn’t instead she turned and left his room going to Touga’s study since she could feel not only Touga but her mother within the room. Walking into the study she stopped cold seeing her mother and Touga naked on the floor of the study. She turned and left the study slamming the door closed behind her as she made her way back to Sesshomaru’s room and sat on the edge of his bed and sobbed. Her entire being screamed for her to apologize to Sesshomaru for all she had said and done and what she just accused him of doing to her. She heard the shower turn off and looked up as the bathroom door opened and he walked out in nothing but some drawstring pants. Her eyes fell back to the floor and she opened her mouth to apologize but nothing came from her throat not one sound but a singular sob. She closed her mouth and wiped at her eyes a few times.



“I’m sorry Sesshomaru…I know that isn’t enough but I thought I’d tell you before I left.”



She stood swaying lightly before catching her weight and gathering her clothes before dressing and turning and walking out of his door and out of the Manor into the night. She knew it was dangerous for her to do as she was and that she wouldn’t make it with her body being swollen and weak from her pregnancy. But she had to get as far away as she could as fast as she could. She walked slowly trying not to fall or hurt herself in any way. She didn’t feel like going home and so left off the drive toward the street and walked into the darkened thick shadows of the forest. Fear coursed through her spiking when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She tried to run but a firm arm wrapped around her just above her stomach.



“Calm down miko you wouldn’t want any harm to come to your unborn child would you?”



The arm shifted and she felt claws against her stomach. She went limp like jelly and did nothing to stop herself from being carried away. The youkai holding her she realized felt familiar to her not just physically but aura wise as well.



“I know your aura and the feel of your body Naraku what do you want with me?”



His cold laughter reached her and made a shiver go down her spine.



“I want to feast on the bodies of you, your child, and Sesshomaru. But since you went and ruined my plans to lore Sesshomaru out here after you I’ll settle for you and your child alone and get Sesshomaru some other time. No I have a better plan.”



He stopped moving away from the Manor and instead went towards it. When he was sure he was close enough her slight open Kagome’s arms and legs and felt her bleeding heavily in the middle of the drive leading to the Manor. The smell of her blood carried on the wind toward the Manor as she lay sobbing as her world slowly started to get fuzzier and fuzzier around the edges until it was creeping inward and her vision slipping away. Sesshomaru and Touga stilled and jumped up when the scent of Kagome's blood filtered through the open windows and filtered through the Manor. When they reached her it was with just enough time to save both her and the pups life if they hurried. Rika sat in Touga's study a look of shame etched into her features it had been there clear as day on her daughter face when she saw them. Hurt, disgust, and betrayal, they were emotions Rika hadn't ever thought any child she bore would feel toward her. Sesshomaru and Touga both caught the faint scent of Naraku that clung to Kagome and growled but Kagome's care came first and though it was a bit uncomfortable they set to work sealing her wounds with their saliva. When they finished Kagome was still out cold from the lack of blood that her body held, it wasn't enough that she needed to go to the hospital after all the care they'd taken to heal her but it was enough to keep her unconscious for a while. Touga now turned his eyes on his son in question.



"What was Kagome doing out here by herself?"



Sesshomaru turned to go back to the Manor but Touga's growl stopped him.



"She is not your bitch what do you care?"



Touga's eyes briefly tinted red before he calmed some.



"She is a part of this family because you have made her so with your actions. Now you wil care for her and the pup like a cared for your mother and you or you will be disowned and banished from the Manor. I will not put up with a son who will not handle his manly duties and bring shame upon this family."



Sesshomaru whirled around anger lighting his eyes.



"This from the man who was fucking my would be mate's mother in his study as if her daughter was not the real reason you were to see Mrs. Higurashi in the first place. I will be disowned then and move from this god forsaken place within the next 48 hours."



Touga shrugged at his obvious anger and picked Kagome up before shoving her into Sesshomaru's arms. The urge to drop her on the ground filled Sesshomaru to the brim he was livid that this girl would demand so much from him for her forgiveness only to ask his after accusing him of assualting her sexually in her sleep just because she'd been placed in his bed by his father and her mother had undressed her and dressed her in his clothing. She had no right what so ever to ask such a thing of him after all that she had done to him. The pain he'd felt, the numerous headaches from the howling of his beast at being away from their pup, taking out her raging emotions on him as if all the troubles that had ever plagued her life were because of him. No if it were not for the fact that his pup were more important to him then making the bitch in his arms understand who and what he was he'd have left her there and not bothered leaving his room to come to her side in the first place.



When he returned to the Manor with her he went directly to his father's study a scowl firmly set on his face as he laid her in her mother's arms before turning to leave when Kagome stretched and got up from her mother's lap in confusion as to how she'd gotten there in the first place. She saw Sesshomaru standing by the door and grabbed onto his sleeve only for him to yank it from her grasp with a snarl.



"If you are smart you will not touch me again onna."



Kagome felt her chest tighten until she thought she'd faint from lack of air. She stepped closer to Sesshomaru almost touching him before firmly turning him to face her.



"Look I'm so I accused you earlier I was wrong but I will not be treated like some random bitch you met and fucked in some alley. I assure you youkai that my memory is intact. It was you who asked my to keep this child, you who cornered me in the school library today and said I qoute' "I am sorry that you got hurt Kagome but I will not let you keep me from my pup be it now or after the birth and with your powers suppressed neither you nor Lady Rika can stop me from being close by.” I'm telling you now and in front of our parents that I am keeping my baby with or without your support and that you will not be allowed within a hundred feet of me and my baby unless I deem it appropriate."



Sesshomaru snarled and pushed her hard back against the study wall.



"I will do what the hell I want you are nothing but some easy whore who happened to get knocked the hell up Inuyasha was right about you to say the least. Keep the damn pup if you wish to I no longer care, leave and do not return unless you have good reason to."



Kagome knowing she would suffer great pain for this brought her powers forth with a loud bang and burnt the hell out of Sesshomaru's chest and sending him into the opposite wall. She slumped whimpering her pain as it went through her system like an electric charge. Standing she glared at Sesshomaru, Touga, and her mother.



"Screw you Taisho and stay the hell away from me from now on or next time I'll purify your ass."



Turning Kagome glared at her mother angrily.



"Are you done screwing around so we can leave?"



Her sarcasim thick with anger, Rika sighed and rose from her chair and led the way from the study before Kagome moved in front of her to walk half run to the car in her haste to get as far from the Manor as she could. The drive home was silent Rika not knowing what to say and Kagome to pissed off to even yell at her mother for doing that to her. When they walked in it was to Jii-chan walking over to them with a look of expectation that threw Kagome over the edge and made her turn around and leave back out the house with her mothers keys and head to a small karaoke bar. She pulled out her phone and called Ayame and her other best friend Sango. They listened as she half cried half screameed about all that had happened to her at Taisho Manor. They were together and close by and so came to join her within fifteen minutes none of them seeing Sesshomaru sitting with the girl Jessica in a booth off to the side. What could say she was mildly happy about was that she and Sesshomaru technically hadn't been in a relationship. Sango gently pushed Kagome toward the stage after a few minutes of seeing her sit there angrily and scowl.



"Go sing Kags you know it will calm you some and besides it isn't good for you to put to much stress on the baby."



Kagome sighed and nodded knowing that Sango was right the singing would help ease the stress she felt right now. Going up to the DJ she inquired what songs he had and beamed nodding when he said Britany Spear's Womanizer it was one of her favorite songs and was catchy in her opinion. It wasn't until she was standing on the stand waiting for the beat to begin that she realized the song describe how she felt about Sesshomaru right now perfectly, though she had yet to see him with Jessica in the corner. The beat started and she started singing dancing along with the song.

Ending the song she bowwed as the crowd erupted in cheers and she spotted Sesshomaru and Jessica in the back in a corner booth. She smirked and waved before leaving the stage and returning to Sango and Ayame and telling them that Sesshomaru was indeed here with a female she assumed was named Jessica. Sango and Ayame stood to go and yell at him but Kagome stopped them smiling all the while.



"I'm about to head home we do have school tomorrow."



Ayame and Sango aighed and nodded.

Kagome laughed and nodded smiling as she thought about what song she wanted to sing. She couldn't explain the change she felt coming over her but she welcomed it and embraced it with open arms thinking she was going to like her change and the effeccts it would have. When the song went off she smiled and bowwed to her cheering crowd and left the bar with Sango and Ayame behind her going to their own cars. Another two months passed before Kagome almost ready to give birth miscarried and left Kyoto for a while to clear her head.
