Scene 2
Scene 2 ------------------------------------------- A Few Hours Later
* It is dinnertime and the others are already gathered in Kagome's hut feasting on her various 'ninja' foods that she has brought back with her. They all look up when Shippo slips in carrying a small bag.
Kagome - Shippo!! I was just about to send Inuyasha to look for you!
Inuyasha - What you got in the bag? A rabbit??
* Miroku looks at Sango puzzled when she raises a hand to her mouth to conceal a snort of amusement. Shippo hesitates, considers scampering back out the door, then musters up his courage. His friends all watch him move carefully over to Inuyasha. He smiles to himself when he notices the hanyou's nose twitch at his scent again.
Shippo - Inuyasha,... I have something for you.
* Before Inuyasha can ask, Shippo deposits the bag of tangerines in his lap and then scitters away to a far corner to watch him open the bag. Inuyasha quickly removes one of them to look at it, to be sure it's not booby-trapped.
Miroku - Are those...?
* Inuyasha sniffs at the fruit, then nods, and begins to peel it as eagerly as Inuyasha would, considering it's the first time this year that he's had the opportunity to get his hands on the delicious fruit he loves. He then stuffs it into his mouth and removes a second.
Sango - You should thank Shippo, at least.
* Inuyasha mumbles his gratitude with a nod as he busily peels the second tangerine. Sango looks toward Shippo. The kit is obviously glad that his gift has pleased Inuyasha. He strokes his bushy tail, ignoring Kagome's offer for him to come eat his dinner. Now Keade glances toward the kitsune, but holds her peace. Not surprisingly, it is Miroku that lifts his nose to sniff.
Miroku - What is that... smell??
* Inuyasha pauses his feast to glance toward the monk, then at Shippo. Suddenly embarrassed again, the kit makes another retreat.
Kagome - What is going on??
Inuyasha - (Mumbled) Nothing to... worry about...
Keade - It's just a phase in the life of a kitsune, child.
* Inuyasha meets the old miko's eye briefly then takes out another tangerine to peel. The others return to their own eatting, knowing better than to come between the hanyou and his mikans.
