Chapter Two: Blood Stained Crystal

Darkness surrounds him pushing against his body and fogging his mind. The darkness is a dense monster that assails his senses so that even his light, penetrating eyes couldn’t pierce its veil. “Where am I?” the youkai thought desperately as he jerked his head to either direction. A soft sound was heard, and Sesshoumaru froze, listening for the sound again. A soft whimper floated to his ears. He urged himself forward. As he stepped to the corner of the room, a small pinprick of light flooded his senses. It fell upon a huddled form curled up on the ground. His face was hidden, but the red stood out against the gloom. He stared at the trembling, small form of Inuyasha as he compacted himself closer to the wall. His light silvery hair was splayed out across the floor in tangles. Sesshoumaru couldn’t help, but notice the scarlet color that clung to the matted clumps. Inuyasha shifted, pulling his knees into his chest. His breath came out in gasps, and Sesshoumaru could see the tiny crystal of tears as he turned his face to the side. There was a creak of rusty hinges as a thick oak door was pulled open and Inuyasha was thrown into the light.

“Come on, little hanyou.” A taunting voice said, “I have some people I want you to meet.”

Inuyasha stared up at the man, his arms raised defensively. “No, please don’t.” he cried his voice shaking, “No more please.”

“Be a good boy, Inuyasha.” he said soothingly as he gripped Inuyasha’s arm, “If you’re good, I’ll make sure they don’t hurt you.”

He jerked Inuyasha to the door. The movement brushed the curtains of silver hair from his back. Sesshoumaru stared in revulsion at the rivulets of dark liquid that ran trails down Inuyasha’s back. Inuyasha was pulled into the light, and Sesshoumaru jerked from his dream breathing hard.

He was surprised as felt cerulean blue eye staring at him with a mixture of worry and apprehension. “What are you doing in here, hanyou?” he asked keeping his voice level.

“You were thrashing around in your sleep.” Inuyasha said as he turned his eyes away from Sesshoumaru.

“How is that any business of yours, hanyou?” Sesshoumaru said with annoyance.

“Were you dreaming about me?” Inuyasha asked suddenly.

Sesshoumaru was taken aback for a moment, but quickly regained composure. “Why would you ask something so absurd?” he said as he let his eyes trail up to Inuyasha’s face.

“You were calling my name in your sleep,” Inuyasha said softly, “What were you dreaming about?”

“That is entirely none of your business, hanyou.” Sesshoumaru said betraying a bit of anger, “You must have been mistaken. Go back to your room.”

Inuyasha stepped away from him. “Why am I here?” he asked as he stared at the ground.

“I have already told you,” Sesshoumaru said annoyed, “I have questions that I need answered.”

“Then ask them already.” Inuyasha said showing a hint of frustration, “I don’t wanna stay here longer than I have to.”

“I have no wish to keep you hear longer than is necessary, hanyou.” Sesshoumaru said, “However, I fear that this is something that cannot readily be answered.”

Inuyasha cocked his head to the side, “Whaddya mean?”

“I simply mean that tomorrow I will be taking you to a diviner.” he said, “Maeko will find a solution.”

“A solution to what?” Inuyasha persistence annoyed Sesshoumaru to no end.

“That doesn’t matter at the present time.” Sesshoumaru said, “I wish to rest, hanyou, so take your idle questions someplace else.”

“No,” Inuyasha exclaimed his voice rising to a tumult, “Why won’t you just ask me the questions so I can leave? Why are you keeping me here, asshole?”

Sesshoumaru’s semblance of patience had finally run its course. Before Inuyasha could blink, he had his long, slim fingers slipped around his throat. “I don’t have to make my thoughts known to someone as disreputable as you, hanyou.” Sesshoumaru said angrily, “Do not presume to fancy you as being on the same level as me.”

Inuyasha scrabbled feebly against his hand, but this only seemed to enrage him further and his grip tightened. Ebony dots sparked across Inuyasha vision to be replaced by a field of black as he slowly sank into nothingness. Sesshoumaru released him only to have him fall in his arms.
