Chapter 2

That night Sesshomaru was in his study thinking about if he should tell Rin because he could tell she didn’t know what they were talking about. It had only been a day and he already had something to deal with. He didn’t know how Rin would take the news but somehow he knew that she didn’t want to know. Unfortunately he had to, no matter how much he wanted to just keep it to himself.

Sesshomaru headed up to Rin’s room or door was slightly opened he looked in and saw Rin combing a dolls hair. She was humming a song which was rather peaceful to Sesshomaru’s ears. When the door creaked opened that got her attention, Rin looked up and saw Sesshomaru standing in her doorway. “May I come in Rin” he asked “of course my lord” she replied still sitting on her bed. Sesshomaru walked over and sat down beside her, their was a little silence until he started to talk.

“Rin I have come here to tell you what lord Genju and myself were talking about since we didn’t say it clearly for you to understand” he started saying. Rin just kept quiet allowing her lord to continue talking. “The offer that I had a greed upon was taking in lord Genju’s daughter for a while” Sesshomaru told her. Rin kept silent since she wasn’t sure what to say, Sesshomaru could tell that his young ward was a little bit edgy knowing that some lady was going to be living with them. “That’s alright my lord this is your home after all” Rin said to him trying to act that she didn’t mind. However Sesshomaru could tell Rin was trying to seem like she will be fine with it when truthfully she wasn’t.

Sesshomaru stood up “Rin even though his daughter will be staying here doesn’t mean anything will change” he told her and then left the room shutting the door behind him. Rin looked down at her beautiful new doll. “Did you hear that lord Genju’s daughter will be staying with us I wonder what she is like” Rin said to the doll. She then walked out onto her balcony and looked up at the starry sky.

“Maybe she will like me I am sure she is nice and kind of course she is a demon and she might not like me just like all the servants” Rin said to herself.

Over in the south lord Genju had arrived back at his castle were his only daughter was waiting. Her name was Lynda she had long blonde hair like her father and was quite attractive for a demonness. Their had been many demons who had asked her father if they could take his daughter as their mate. However Genju will allow only one man to have his daughter and that would be Sesshomaru.

If Sesshomaru mated with Lynda then he would be able to get some of the western lands. Genju never explained that to his daughter but she wanted Sesshomaru anyway. Lynda wanted nothing but to be Sesshomaru’s mate and bare his children. “Welcome home father” she said as he walked through the door. “It is good to be home” he replied, “tell me father what did lord Sesshomaru say I have been dieing to know” she asked him. “Well he has accepted unfortunately he has not officially agreed to make you his mate but don’t worry my dear daughter you will be is mate in due time” Genju told her.

“There is one thing you must know before you go to live their and that is a human girl by the name of Rin is living their” he told Lynda. She was speechless need to say about hearing such an abomination that a human is living with her future mate. “If that is true father wont she get in the way of me becoming lord Sesshomaru’s mate” she asked him. “No my child I am quite sure that Sesshomaru wont stoke so low” Genju replied. He walked up to his daughter and placed his hands on her cheeks.

“Just imagine the day when you will become the lady of the west” he told her before walking away. ‘Yes I will because I want to be with lord Sesshomaru forever’ she thought to herself then headed to her chambers.

It had been a few days since Rin found out about the news that the daughter of lord Genju will be staying in the castle. The only thing she didn’t know was for how long their guest will be living with them. Though Rin was still just a child she knew that life will become a bit more difficult when Genju’s daughter arrives.

Sesshomaru was walking through the castle grounds by himself thinking how Rin will be able to handle lord Genju’s daughter. He had heard that lady Lynda was of great beauty and that many demons had wanted to court her. Even after so many proposals lord Genju had refused them all thinking they are not worthy to have his only daughter. It was strange to him when Genju had offered his daughter to him. Sesshomaru had never met the girl before in his entire life because he never visited the south lands. He had just heard certain things about her and that was all, the only reason he allowed her to stay was so he could see what she is like. Sesshomaru never intended to take her as his mate.

Though if he did she would give him very strong pups since she came from such a strong lineage. Sesshomaru thought he could just use her to give him an heir and then send her back to the south lands. That was only a thought of course but something he will keep in mind though he would just keep it to himself.

He soon started to smell Rin’s scent coming from the other side of the castle but he could also smell something else. It smelt of something familiar it was blood so he quickly ran thinking that Rin was in some kind of trouble. When he got to the other side of the castle he saw Rin on the ground holding onto her leg and crying. Sesshomaru walked over to her and noticed that she had a cut on her leg. “Rin what happened” he asked her, she looked up at him with tears coming down her face. “I, I was run, sniff, ing and then I tripped” Rin told him between sniffles, Sesshomaru bent down and had a look at her knee.

He could smell her tears and blood they seemed mixed together making the scent rather off. “Stop crying Rin” he told her why ripping a piece of fabric of his sleeve and then started to wrap it around her cut. Rin watched him bandage up her wound when he touched her skin she had never felt such soft hands before. Sesshomaru tied a knot so then it wouldn’t undue. He was about to stand when his hand was grabbed by a much smaller hand it was Rin’s. She was holding one of his hands and was stroking it with her fingers “so soft” she said out loud. Sesshomaru wasn’t sure what to do at that moment either pull his hand away or let her keep holding it. Feeling his wards fingers stroke over his hand was kind of weird but he had never realized how gentle Rin’s touch was.

Rin soon let go of her lord’s hand “you have very nice hands lord Sesshomaru” she told him with a big smile. She then hopped up and ran of, he watched his young ward run of and then looked down at his hand. It felt like she was still stroking it with her delicate fingers but now wasn’t the time to think about such things. He had more pressing matters to deal with one for example was the arrival of lady Lynda which was only in two days time. He was probably sure that lord Genju had told his daughter about Rin.

Two days later

The day had finally came when lady Lynda will be arriving at Sesshomaru’s castle. Rin was very nervous she had been told to get ready and wear something nice. Since she had been able to clean and dress herself she didn’t need any help in that area anymore. Rin ended up wearing a white kimono with pink flower patterns on it. She ended up needing a maid to help her with her hair since she couldn’t do any fancy styles yet. The maid combed her hair then made a bun at the back and put beautiful golden and pink clips in it why the rest of her hair was left down. Rin looked at herself in the mirror when it was all done. It seemed like she was looking at a completely different person.

The carriage soon arrived and Sesshomaru was waiting out the front with Jaken on one side and Rin on the other. However Rin clutched onto Sesshomaru’s pants because it made her feel more secure and safe. Of course their was nothing to be afraid about but Rin just felt that holding onto her lord made her feel better. A demon opened the carriage door and a small foot with a beautiful red and flower patterned shoe appeared first. Another foot came out and the demon offered his hand to their guest.

A hand stretched out to grab the demon’s before the person fully stepped out allowing Rin to look at the lady before her. She was amazed at how beautiful the demonness was and the kimono she was wearing was breathtaking. Out of all the nice kimono’s she had the one Lynda was wearing was far more beautiful than any of hers.

“Welcome to my home lady Lynda” Sesshomaru walked up to her and kissed her hand which he had no choice but to do so. “It is an honor to be here and to finally get to meet you my lord” she replied. When she heard Sesshomaru talking it brought Rin out of her thoughts when she suddenly realized she was being stared at. “Rin come over here there is someone I would like you to meet” Sesshomaru told her. She walked up to his side “Rin this is lady Lynda, she is the daughter of lord Genju” he told her. “It is very nice to meet lady Lynda my name is Rin” she said in a very quiet voice. “It is nice to meet you as well Rin my father has told me all about you” Lynda replied.

She knew that why she was here she had to act kindly towards the human even though deep inside she already hated Rin. Though as long as she was going to be living with Sesshomaru she had no choice. Even though she hated the idea of having to be nice to the girl she will make sure she is Sesshomaru’s mate.

Lynda might think that her nice act can fool Rin but it could not fool Sesshomaru, he already could tell that she hated his ward. Of course that was no surprise since no one in the castle liked Rin. Even though Rin had no one to talk to he was amazed that she could still be happy and cheerful. “Jaken please take lady Lynda to her chambers which has been set up for her” Sesshomaru told the toad. “Yes my lord, please follow me lady Lynda” Jaken said and they both walked into the castle.

Sesshomaru looked down at his ward “Rin if lady Lynda says any bad things to you I want you to tell me understand” he told her “yes my lord” Rin replied. They both walked inside together when one of the servants ran up to Sesshomaru. “My lord I have news that the lords of the east and north are wanting a council meeting in three days at Palamance Tower” the servant told him. “I see, tell me though is lord Genju also attending” Sesshomaru asked him “yes my lord” the servant replied. “Very well I will leave tonight since it will take me a few days just to get to Palamance Tower” Sesshomaru said.

He looked down and saw the sad look on Rin’s face “do not worry Rin I promise I will come back” Sesshomaru told her. That brought a smile on her face as long as he was coming back that made her happy.

That night Sesshomaru told Jaken to take care of things why he was gone and to make sure to keep a close eye on Rin. Of course Jaken got the same order as usual ‘if Rin gets hurt then I will kill you’. Rin was in bed when Sesshomaru left the castle and at that moment Lynda was in her chambers brushing her long blonde hair. She heard from some servants talking to one another that their master was leaving for a few days. It was a bit of a shame that the first day she arrives her lord has already got something he needs to do and leaves her all alone. Lynda had no idea on what she was going to do since Sesshomaru was going to be away for a while.

Lynda decided that she might take a little visit to Rin’s room since the young girl was fast asleep. She headed to Rin’s room and slowly opened the door, once Lynda was inside she walked over to Rin’s bed. Looking at the human just sleeping their disgusted her ‘no human deserves such luxury’ Lynda thought to herself. Growing up she had learned that humans a petty creatures and that they only deserve to live in poverty. Though seeing this girl in fine clothes and soft beddings was wrong. No human what so ever was meant for such riches because to demons they where nothing but insects which live in the dirt.

Rin turned over her back now facing Lynda “you are nothing but a worthless insect poisoning such beautiful things” she said to the sleeping Rin. Lynda then heard footsteps coming down the hall way. It was Jaken he entered Rin’s room because he thought he heard something he checked but their was no one in their. Jaken closed the door and kept walking why Lynda was already back in her chambers. She had been able to leave Rin’s room just in the nick of time before getting caught. It was a good thing that she covered up her scent otherwise Jaken would have known she had been in their.
