too far to reach

Years had passed so slow they felt like a lifetime. Kagome finished school went to collage and became a history teacher at the very same junior high school she went to those years ago. Kagome had definitely eased into womanhood; many men sought her out but since she never had gotten over her heartbreak she compared them to Inuyasha… and no one ever measured up.
After a very hard day at work, kagome was hurt all over again. Today’s lesson was on the feudal era and that bought up the memories that stabbed at her heart.
As she walked into her small lonely studio apartment, she dropped the keys on the table, pressed the button on her answering machine laid on her bed staring at the ceiling deep in thought when she heard her brothers message“hey gome its sota, im just reminding you that ma’s wants you to come to dinner tomorrow for my birthday. Hope to see you, bye.”

She made a mental note to remember and went to sleep.

The following day had gone by in a haze, at the end of another long day at work teaching about the feudal era she went to the toy store picked up a gift sor sota and went straight to her mother’s house. She had hated being there, everything reminded her about him but she was doing this for her brother.
When she was at the door she swallowed braced herself and walked in the door saying “hey ma, souta im here”
Sota ran up to her and gave her a hug “happy birthday sota” she said as she handed him his present. He eagerly tore it apart to revealed the video game that was inside “thanks sis” he said as he ran to the living room to go play the game
“Oh good you here now we can have dinner “her mother spoke “come to the dining room“

They ate peacefully talking about how what they had been up to and how every one was doing. When they finished the meal, kagome went in to the living room and sat on the couch. Buyo leaped on her and laid on her lap kagome stroked her back buyo purred in response.
When it was getting late and kagome had decided that it was late and should be heading home time she reached in her pocket with buyo still on her lap, when she pulled out the keys the cat snatched them out her hands with her mouth and ran “hey” kagome yelled and ran after the cat.

The well house; when she reached the entrance to the well she paused for a minute held her breath her breath and followed into the entrance, buyo jumped in the well and sat meowing loudly, kagome jumped in after the cat who was standing next to her keys…and something else. Kagome saw the familiar necklace that she assumed buyo dug up and picked it up. “Wait this is… this is the shikon jewel!” she stared at the jewel intensely and froze “can I…can I go see Inuyasha” she franticly ran in to her mothers house at that thought, grabbed the overnight bag she always left there. She threw some ramen, instant coffee, some leftovers and a blanket in the bag. Ran back to the well prayed to her self that this will work closed her eyes and jumped in.
