Unhappy and Married

A/N: About two weeks ago I had a request for a Sango/Kurama fic that wasn't AU, so this is for Chigirl and Sango. I will be taking suggestions on who to stick Kagome with. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter One

"You saved us hoshi." The girl threw her arms around the man hugging him around the waist. Her small hands ran up his back in an intimate manner. "Is there any way I can repay you?"

Sango watched the display for only a few seconds before turning around and walking away. Her thoughts were soon consumed by more important matters. Like the mess that surrounded them, the village was a polluted with corpses. Two days ago someone had shown up at their village seeking assistance. Naturally, she and Miroku had left to help the people in need. Youkai had been attacking the villages every night killing whomever they could catch. It only took them a few hours to find the trail, to eventually find them attacking another defenseless villge.

Kirara jumped in her arms, seeking comfort from her owner. Sango found a tree, leaning against it for support. She was tired and ready to go home. In her mind things just weren't the same without Inuyasha and Kagome around. Her hand went to the rosary around her wrist. After the final fight everything had changed for them all.

No one was sure who the hanyou would want to be with. He never got a chance to choose. As soon as the jewel was completed and destroyed Kagome had vanished. Leaving them all without saying goodbye. Inuyasha had mourned for weeks about it, while Kikyo had waited for him. One day the hanyou had informed him the he was going to keep his promise, he'd be joining Kikyo. They all knew why he did it, Kagome was gone forever. The rosary was taken from his neck by Kaede, he wanted Sango and Miroku to have it. The taijiya kept it, because it reminded her of the friend and sister she had lost.

Inuyasha has been gone for over a year, her and Miroku were now married. Her life hadn't turned out as she once hoped. Laughter made her turn her head, said husband was still flirting away with the little tart. A sigh escaped Sango, she was sure he hadn't cheated yet. Then again, he still had his lecherous ways. Her mind told her that if the right woman came along and pushed hard enough he would. Her heart wanted to believe in him.

The hoshi came to stand in front of her, "These people have asked that I stay until the village is fixed. They are needing spiritual guidance."

Her brow lifted, "For how long?"

"It may take a few weeks Sango." He informed her, his staff jingled.

"I'm not staying here for a few weeks. Shippo is at the village waiting for us to return." She saw his sigh and felt bad. "Stay if you like."

"You don't mind?"

Yes, she did. Especially with the way the tart was still eyeing him like a piece of meat. "No, I'll have Kirara take me back. We will come back in a few weeks to get you." She returned the chaste kiss he gave her. "Behave." She left the warning with him.

Kirara was ready to return home to it seemed. Sango retrieved her weapon and climbed on the neko's back. As she flew away she turned to see Miroku talking to the woman once more. Her heart jerked at the sight but what kind of marriage did they have if she couldn't trust him?

They were almost to Kaede's village, almost home. She wasn't sure why she still thought of it as the old miko's village. She had passed away over two months ago. Leaving the taijiya with no female companionship to speak of. Shippo had stayed with them, having no one else to call family.

Kirara growled and looked towards the north, Sango looked over. Several strong youkai auras were in that direction not far from the village. "Let's go check it out."

Youko could feel the blood dripping down his forehead, a drop entered his eyes causing his vision to blur. Seemed he was out of options and energy. He should have known better than to try this job alone, he should have waited for Kuronue to return. Being hot headed and concieted he tried to tackle it himself. Now, he was about to pay the price with his life.

He had assumed any youkai living in the human realm would be soft and foolish. Last night he had snuck into the Lord of the Northern Lands castle hoping to steal whatever he could. He'd fought against the Lord himself, getting severly injured in the process. The Lord had been injured as well so instead of persueing the fox himself he'd sent his best men. Now they had the fox cornered and at their mercy.

The head guard ran forward knocking him down, enjoying the easy kill. Youko hit the ground hard, he tried to get back up. He felt himself fall again as a foot landed in his back. He cursed his luck, he didn't wish to die in the human realm. The guards kept laughing as he was kicked repeatedly.

"Stop!" The voice rang over the four men demanding their attention. Youko looked up through blurry eyes, a human female was stalking towards them.

Sango wasn't sure who the injured man was on the ground but it was apparent that the three were being cruel. Anger filled her at the thought, no one deserved to be tortured. These three were no better than Naraku. They eyed her with lustful gazes, Kirara growled showing fangs.

"Seems we are about to get lucky men. I get her first." One of the guards charged her.

"Hiriakotsu," She sent the weapon straight at him, his eyes widened as his body was torn in half. The weapon returned to her with ease. "Leave now, or join him."

The leader snarled, "Bitch you will die." He charged at her sword drawn, Kirara sprang at the other one. Sango lifted the boomerrang blocking the blow as it came down. His strength began to over power her. She shoved back with all her strength and spun around swinging it in a complete circle. It came down across the youkai tearing him in two before he could right himself.
She looked over to see the other laying on the ground dead.

Kirara was next to the fallen man sniffing him. A soft meow escaped her as she nudged the man with her muzzle. Sango walked over and checked on him. He was in bad shape and out cold. "Let's get him back to the village." She hoisted the man on the cat's back without much effort. They took off towards the village, the fox in tow.

Please read and review. Sorry it's so short, dinner time.
