Her Last Battle
Disclaimer: I don't own InuYasha; if I did all production of it wouldn't be ending the next few months. But sadly, they won't let me have it, so there's nothing I can do but petition.
Ch. 1 Her Last Battle:
"InuYasha! Behind you!" Kagome's scream reached him almost too late. InuYasha dodged to the right but his brother's claws still slashed into his left shoulder and arm.
"Damn it!" He tried to ignore the pain but the hanuou was loosing blood fast.
"Maybe I should take your arm to replace the one you cut from me, InuYashak." Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed in spite yet still no there wasn't any readable emotion on his face.
"I'd like to see you try!" InuYasha screamed just as the sword he'd raised to attack with came down in a crush of rocks and dirt where Sesshomaru had been standing only a moment ago. 'Damn it, he's gotten faster!'
"Using father's sword is useless against me, you know that, little brother. So why do you try anyway?"
'I have to think of something quick or maybe I really will lose my arm!' Just as an idea started to dawn on him, InuYasha heard the scream of anger and despair.
"NOOOOO!" It was Sango. Sesshomaru had figured InuYasha's biggest weakness was the humans he dragged around with him. They had been not so politly instructed by InuYasha to stay out of the fight and had decided it was best to listen; the brothers' personal rivalry was exactly that--personal, and nobody's fight but thier's. But in Sesshomaru's attempt to kill the nearest one, the demon exterminaitor, the large two-tail jumped in the way. Sango screamed out in rage and loss and charged the demon lord not caring what might happen to her. Miroku and Kagome snapped out of their shocked trances and grabbed Sango on either side doing their best to keep her from diving head first into certain death.
InuYasha raised the tetsaiga preparing to use the backlash wave. 'Sesshomaru's never tested himseslf against the backlash wave yet. If this doesn't work we're screwed.' Sesshomaru was going to attempt his attack on the humans again when he noticed what InuYasha was getting ready to do. Well, human sacrafice didn't seem so bad, maybe he'd put a couple of his brother's friends in the way; with Sesshomaru's superior speed it would be no problem and his brother would think twice before raising tetsiaga against him again. He knew exactly which one would hit InuYasha the hardest, the girl in strange clothes with miko powers. Suddenly he felt pang a of guilt even at the thought of causing her death. 'Why is that? I don't CARE What happens to humans. So why do I feel this way? Maybe-' His thoughts were cut short when he heard another scream. He was half shocked (though as usual managed to hide it from all appearences) when he looked to the source of the scream. Griped by the throat, the young miko dangled before him, held by his hand. He must have acted what he was thinking without entirly realizing it. He felt even more guilty. 'Had another demon done this while fighting me, I would have thought him a coward.' Suddenly he dropped the girl and dissapeared.
