It Starts...
Dia: Thanks, really. My goal is to try and keep them as in character as possible.
Karli: Again, thank you for the support.
Sakag26: Well, here one comes. ^.~
Bianca: Well, good, haha. Yes, and this is to all of you, I intend to explain much of the confusion away in this chapter.
Kagome looked up from her newly arrived homework with an obviously tired expression. She propped her hand next to her face and let out a sigh, then looked out the window. And blinked. Again. //What is he doing here…// She looked around quickly, saw that her other classmates were all busy working, and then looked back at the window, her finger poised in the air as she prepared to mouth a few choice words to the silver-haired stalker outside the window. But noone was there…
As she made her way home, Kagome reviewed all that was seemingly going on in her life. She was 15, a good student with a normal life. Well, except for Inuyasha. She had met him two weeks ago. He was home schooled, and for a good reason: He was a hanyou. See, the demons of the world were very few and far between, having died out slowly since the Feudal Era of Japan. And, of those still in existence, a natural racism had developed between them and the humans who had been the source of their sadistic pleasures for many years. So, Inuyasha, while only being half demon, was still ostracized from the normal life of other teenagers.
He could, of course, walk about as long as he covered his ears. The silver hair and the golden eyes might give him away as suspicious, but not necessarily as a demon. It was on one of these walks that Kagome had met the hanyou.
-Kagome had just been looking at several choice mangas she wanted desperately to get, when she felt an odd disturbance in the air around her. She turned, just in time to catch the gaze of alluring eyes, a hypnotizing glimmer of gold. Those eyes drew her in with a fluid ease that surprised even her. It took her a few seconds of staring, in fact, before a blush spread over her features. She pulled back a bit and saw a guy, probably about 18, wearing a pair of black boots, black jeans, a red muscle shirt, a black leather jacket, and a black leather beret which stood out a little in her mind as an odd choice.
“What are you staring at?” the guy asked with no small amount of annoyance. He folded his arms over his chest and leaned back idly against the wall of the building. A hand, and Kagome noticed the elongated fingernails at this time, too, lifted to brush silver hair from his face. Kagome, blinked once, and then fell back into the reality of the situation.
“Nothing. Sorry.” She turned back to her mangas, but managed to glance back at the guy who was still standing behind her. Finally she turned to him and lifted a finger in a very matron-like manner.
“What are you staring at?” She asked, a touch of anger in her tone. She watched as the guy smirked a bit, his face shrouded in shadow by his hair and the natural lack of light in the place. He shrugged lightly, then stood up off the wall and walked out of the building.-
It would be another week before she would see him again. Of course, the situation in which that meeting took place, well, that was another story altogether.
-Kagome was on her way back from school when Souta, her little brother, ran up to her. Kagome noticed the intently excited face he offered, and she smiled warmly.
“Hey there, Souta, what’s going on?” She asked, her voice retaining a good amount of warmth despite the slight undertones of confusion.
“Hey Kagome, there’s a half demon in our house!” He called out to her, to which Kagome was forced to stop. She looked down at his child-like expression of joy, then gave him a small smile, though as she walked away the bewildered expression returned. //A hanyou…in our house? Weird.// Of course, after thinking it through for a few moments, it made some small amount of sense. She did live in a shrine, after all, so it wasn’t too bizarre that a hanyou might come to their home for one reason or another.
Kagome stopped at her door, removed her shoes, and made her way into the house. And, then, she saw the guy she had met at the manga store about a week ago. Her eyes widened for a moment before she marched in.
“And what are you doing here?!” She asked, seething. The hanyou was on his feet in seconds.
“Excuse me, girly, but I happen to have something to do here! What’s your excuse?” He asked, his expression dark and brooding, his stance every bit the dominant sort. Kagome shook her head angrily, then looked over and saw the entirety of her family staring at them both with wide, staring eyes.
Kagome blinked, then blushed a bit with embarrassment, and then stomped out. Inuyasha, typically, turned to the rest of them.
“What’s her problem?” He asked, his voice betraying genuine confusion as to why she had stormed off. The grandpa stood and looked up at the hanyou.
“She’ll be fine, just let me go talk to her…in the meantime…would you be interest in this,” the old man lifted a blackened limb, “arm of a Gremlin?” Inuyasha looked at the old man, eye twitching, before he pummeled him with a lightning quick right hand.
The old man made his way back into Kagome’s room, his hand rubbing at the large bump formed on his skull. He knocked softly, waited for Kagome’s permission, and walked in. He saw her sitting on her bed, fuming. She turned to look at her grandpa, giving him a “chick that is PMSing and wants to cut off your genitals with a spork” look. Thankfully, her grandpa was blissfully ignorant and managed to fold his arms behind his back.
“That young man in there needs a tutor of sorts. He has to get his GED, or so the law states, and the only way to do that is to take a test and qualify. I told him you would be happy to help.” Her grandpa said, very business-like. Kagome stared at him, almond hued eyes staring at him like he was insane. Then, she launched herself at him.
“You said what?!?!” Her voice echoed throughout the house, and Inuyasha’s sensitive ears picked it up easily.
“I won’t do it!” She offered as her grandpa stood up from the ground, a second bump forming upon the one received earlier. Her grandpa looked at her, this time his hands were held out pleadingly.
“But, Kagome-” he tried to explain, until she cut him off.
“Oh, no! Don’t you ‘but Kagome’ me! That guy is infuriating! How am I supposed to tutor him?” She asked with a fiery…passion. Her grandpa opened and shut his mouth, then finally shook his head.
“But Kagome, we need the money he is offering! If we don’t get some more income soon, we will have to sell the shrine.” He said, very serious and with as much dignity as he could muster, which, after two massive beatings and being yelled at by a teenage girl, wasn’t much. Kagome looked at her grandpa, then finally broke down.
“Alright, grandpa. I’ll do it for you, but I don’t have to like it,” Kagome stated, her voice emanating a helplessness she didn’t much enjoy. She walked into the room where Inuyasha and the family had gathered, and looked to the ground. Her grandpa nudged her softly, and she looked up a bit.
“I’m sorry, I’d be happy to help you…” She stopped, becoming aware of the fact that she didn’t know the guy’s name. The hanyou stood from his meditative place on the floor and then made his way past her. He stopped as he reached her side, and turned to look at her.
“It’s Inuyasha, girly. Don’t forget it, and be at my place by seven.” He said, in a soft purr that did two things to Kagome. The first, well, was that it gave her shivers. The second, of course, made her want to beat the hanyou to a pulp.-
And that was how they first met. She had been going to his house to tutor him for a week now, once a night for about an hour, and had found Inuyasha to be quite annoying. And yet, for all of his faults, he often said something that wasn’t in his character that made her rethink that. Like, for example, there was that time when a boy from school had been following her all day.
She had gone to Inuyasha’s like normal, but he could tell she was upset. Then, when she told him what was happening, he proceeded to find the guy and scare him off. Kagome, a little angry, had confronted Inuyasha about the fact that she could take care of herself. Inuyasha had responded by telling her to shut up and let him protect her. That had certainly got her to shut up. For about a second.
It didn’t much matter, though, because Inuyasha was more often the arrogant prick type than the knight in shining armor. Kagome sighed; knowing she was going to have to go back to his house in a few short hours. //Oh well, maybe it will be better this time…//
Little did she know, but Inuyasha had that idea exactly in his mind as he setup the seduction he had planned since seeing her in the manga store two weeks back.
