Chapter two –demons of the past unleashed (part 1)

He snarled, sniffing the air around him. “I know you’re there hiding you piece of shit.”
A shadow formed next to him and a voice whispered into his ear. “Im not hiding…”
The shadow held a sharp dagger to his jugular, dipping it in and cutting lightly. “So sweet the taste of blood…. untainted and pure…” chrno whipped around only to see a woman with a cloak drawn around her head and shoulders. “hello chrno….” And then he was hit with the salty thoughts of a memory….

Her eyes glazed over as she stared at the clawed hand on her knee. Chrno snarled demanding dominance, as he began to squeeze her knee, drawing blood the same color as her dipped hair.
She snarled lightly at him- but before he could respond she began a chant…

“Kami, Goddess of kumori, God of Tsuno, I am in dept to you….as are we all…..”
Violet eyes flashed white as she searched his eyes, and her mouth opened letting out a screaming voice… “Death likes you dear child, and soon you will look into its eyes.
Do not drift into the devil’s play, for it will bring great misfortune to your friends.
Ride with the silver fox, but beware the white wolf-never mix the two for they both have a terrible vengeance.
Kiss the blooming lily, but not the budding rose.
And take not the beauty’s directions for they shall lead you to damnation.
The steal blade will find you, and you must fight its cold grip…. Else you will all die………………”


Chrno stared wide-eyed at the woman in front of him. “Who the hell are you?”
A smirk played onto her porcelain face… “…Death….” And then she pulled back the hood.

-20 miles west-
‘Ok…all I have to do is find safire…get the shield and im out!’ Gwen’s mental voice echoed throughout the forest, that was safire’s mind. Without her shield, Gwen’s spirit could travel without interruption, or barriers blocking her. ‘…Hmm…I wonder where safire could be a-EEP!’ the sudden hand on Gwen’s shoulder was enough to make her scream with fright. A laugh answered her yelp, as she quickly turned around. ‘Wow…. you’re a real puss….’ Gwen glared at the woman before her, illuminated by the full moon. ‘Oh shut up safire…like you don’t freak out when katsume jumps out from behind bushes...come on, we have to find your shield…. I want out of here and back in MY body as soon as possible.’
‘ Awwww…. and I wanted you to stay for the sleep over too!’ safire mock pouted, grinning when Gwen sent a malicious glare in her direction. Gwen’s green twinkling eyes flashed a deep red, as safire turned to walk away. And she whispered, ‘oh I’ll be staying alright…’

~Back in the land of the living, with katsume~

… “HA! Go fish!” a sound of angry chattering and barking could be heard. “Oh shut up and throw your card down!” katsume smirked when a deep growl could be heard, “HA!-“ a sudden change in gwen’s aura caught her attention as well as the kuroi dog before her. “Something is going on here…and I don’t like the smell of it,” the black dog before her snarled, as the fine charcoal hairs on his neck stood up. “I know, dareka…this could be a real problem, with her in safire’s mind…” she glanced at the inu, who stared back at her with deep purple eyes… she nodded but was cut short when a sudden black twist in the air, alerted them both of the trouble that was to come… there where the body of Gwen once meditated, sat the now completely transformed grave… katsume snarled, her once glowing violet eyes tinged red at the corners, “that Konoama…”

~To safire’s mind we go! ~

Safire stared at Gwen, eyes filled with confusion as her dear friend began to advance. “Why are you doing this Gwen?” a dark laugh answered her question.
“Because I can…because I need to finish what I started…” she smirked, red eyes glittering in the moonlight. Safire gasped when Gwen moved so fast she could no longer see her. A foot slammed into her back, alerting the girl that she was behind her. Another kick to her side, pushed safire to the ground. Safire gasped with pain. “Why? What must you finish?” Gwen let lose a horrific laugh, “the death of your family of course…. yes you believed it was myoubi didn’t you? The sister you never had…. you believed she betrayed you. She tried to stop me you know… found out what I had been planning…. cleaver creatures kitsunes are, don’t you think?” her laugh echoed in safire’s mind…. she would never forget that laugh.
Gasping safire doubled over holding her stomach, which trembled with a violent flash of pain. Before she could get up a fist landed somewhere near her shoulder, throwing her back.
Grave snarled, her blood red lips lifting in disgust. “And you call your self a warrior! Sagua ni!”
Safire coughed, her vision blurring as tears flooded cloudy blue eyes.
“D-damn you…. Damn you TO HELL!”
Grave let lose a bitter laugh, “been there, done that…”
Suddenly a sharp stinging wind began to blow, throwing down trees and blasting into the field. Slowly the wind started to form into a woman’s face, a bright blinding light was her eyes, and her hair the twisting leaves and branches, and a howling voice arose from within this Tennyo. “AKUMA! BUREI-MONO! YOU FIGHT FOR THE BODY OF A WORTHLESS HUMAN? A SHIPPAI TO ALL, BUT I WILL GIVE YOU BOTH A CHANCE, AGAINST MY GREATER JUDGEMENT- FOR IT IS KAMI’S WILL.” Both grave and safire slapped bloody hands to their ears, tried to block the screaming voice of their ears, which had begun to bleed with the force of it. Pure white eyes searched for Grave’s cowering form. “ YOU INSULT US, WITH YOU INSULENCE AND GREED FOR POWER! IF YOU LOSE TO THIS NINGEN, I BANISH YOU FROM THE NINGENKAI, TO LIVE FOREVER IN MY WORLD!” grave gasped, her head pounding but opened her mouth only to leek out a couple of words. “And what is this so called world?”
The wind suddenly picked up, and safire could swear she sat in the middle of a tornado. “ LAND OF THE KUMORI!” Cruel smirk lifted into barely visible lips.
“WHERE THE SAIMUASHO, SEARCH THE BLACK SKY, AND THE GORUKAKUCHO SNAP THE BONES OF THEIR ENEMYS. YOU WILL WISH DEATH A THOUSAND TIMES, AND NEVER SHALL I GRANT IT…” a hallow laugh echoed threw-out the forest, and both girls shivered. Grave glared up at the Tennyo, snarling. “Sorry to destroy your fun but I don’t think I’ll be seeing you there!”
Her laugh suddenly turned into an ironic humorous one…like she knew something neither of her mortal listeners did not…and just as quick as it had come, the wind was gone…
