Tyrant's End

Chapter 19:

The demon had been through a rough time, as indicated by the numerous slashes and scars scattered across his body. His clothing was torn, and his battle armour was strewn asunder.

Sesshomaru grimaced slightly as the various wounds that he had suffered began to catch up with him.

And it wasn't just physical wounds either.

He had promised the miko that he would save their family. And yet, here they lay, dead in Naraku's castle.

And while he might be able to save them with Tensiega, it will do no good, for it appears that he is facing his last battle against Naraku at this moment.

The demon lord was looking extremley smug with his work, feeding off the raw emotions emanating from Kagome, Miroku, and Sango, all three of them either wounded, or grieving, the emotions of pain, hate, and suffering letting their presence known.

"Sesshomaru. Don't worry about Kagome and the others. After I have finished with you, I'll end their pathetic suffering. The monk and the demonslayer have no more of a use for me. And I just may take the miko as my bride to be. Or on second thought, I think I'll just rape her, finish breaking her, then discard her with the other corpses in this castle." said Naraku as his eyes widened with pure glee.

Sesshomaru's eyes flashed very briefly, but he had gotten used to the trash that this vermin had been spewing out for quite sometime.

"You won't be able to do much of anything once I run you through with Tokijin. Death shall be the only thing you accomplish." growled Sesshomaru. The dog demon lord raised his sword to a horizontal level, preparing to unleash the dragon strike attack.

Naraku smiled, and prepared to use his demon powers to reflect the attack right back at Sesshomaru.

But at that moment, something peculiar happened. Both of the opponent's eyes were drawn skyward when a soul collector angled downwards towards Sesshomaru. A shining light, a soul of the deceased, dropped from the collector's paws and entered Sesshomaru's chest.

The demon lord dropped to his knees as a strange light enveloped him.

'Brother...' came a familiar voice.

'Inuyasha?...' Sesshomaru asked to himself. What was going on?

'Keh. I can't believe that you would give up so easily against Naraku.'

'Well what chance do I have? At least this way I'll go down fighting.' Sesshomaru fired back.

'Keh. Use my Testuiga. Take my knowledge of the sword. Here, I'll show you....'

Kagome had her brother cradled in her lap.

She had run out of tears long ago, and now just sat there, in a state of shock, looking down at Souta with red rimmed eyes.

That's when she was hit in the back with a glowing object. The thing immersed it self into her.

Then came a familiar voice...

'Kagome....you must stand and fight...'

"Kikyo?" Kagome gasped out loud, before she realized the voice was coming from inside her.

'You must help Sesshomaru....'

"I....I don't know if I can...if I can do anything right...." she whimpered in response, turning her gaze back to her family...

'Listen. I know you've been through a lot, but think of the consequences if Naraku escapes. Do you want this fate to befall anyone else?'

"I...."

'Just take a deep breath, and ask yourself that question, Kagome...'

She did as she was asked by Kikyo, and came to an answer a lot sooner than what she would have thought.

The miko stood, and gathered up her bow and arrows.

'You can mourn those who you lost later. But now, now you must defeat Naraku.'

"Your right, Kikyo."

Kagome walked out of the castle entrance, and into the courtyard.

Sesshomaru nodded slightly as Inuyasha finished explaining his techniques to him, and decided upon a plan of attack. Feeling confident again, his demonic aura swirled around him.

That's when he noticed the aura of another approaching him from the side.

Looking over, he saw Kagome coming to stand next to him, her bow in hand, and a quiver of her arrows on her back.

She looked at him with a fiery determination in her eyes that he had not seen in sometime. Seeing the fire in her eyes, his confidence grew.

"Are you ready to finish this thing?" she asked of him, turning to stare with eyes full of hatred and loathing towards Naraku.

"He's mine....Dragon Strike." yelled Sesshomaru as he unleashed the attack from Tokijin.

Naraku was suprised by the sudden appearance of the miko, and his confidence wavered for a moment, before returning when the dog demon unleashed his attack wave.

"Fool. Now you die." said the demon lord as he repulsed the dragon strike, and sent it right back at Sesshomaru.

The dog demon smiled, before revealing something he picked up while leaving Tokijin in his belt. Naraku gaped with suprise as he recognzied the sheath of Tetsuiga.

The fang of their father was drawn to Sesshomaru's hand, and transformed within it as soon as he plucked it out of the air.

'But how is that possible? Why doesn't the barrier reject him?' thought Naraku.

But the demon lord had only a moment to dwell on that before Sesshomaru responded to the repelled Dragon strike by unleashing a backlash wave. The two collosal forces of nature met and collided, laying waste to the surrounding castle.

As soon as the energy dissipated, a brilliant purple shining arrow shot through the space where Sesshomaru had been standing, and struck Naraku's barrier, causing it to shift erratically.

'Damn wench.' thought Naraku, looking at where Kagome was standing, all alone in the courtyard.

He smiled as one of his tentacles enlongated from his body.

'I'll kill her now, and finish off Sesshomaru later.' thought Naraku, before it suddenly dawned on him that he had no idea where Sesshomaru was.

Feeling a sudden power spike from above him, Naraku looked up, to see Sesshomaru coming down on him from above, a red Tetsuiga in his hand.

"Wind scar." said the dog demon as he unleashed the barrier breaking technique that Inuyasha passed on to him. It struck Naraku's barrier, and combined with Kagome's earlier attack, was sufficent to shatter the barrier.

Naraku responded by unleashed a hail of furious energy and physical attacks at everyone that he could in a desperate attempt to stay alive. Miroku and Sango avoided their attacks, but Kilala's body was incinerated by an energy blast.

Kagome fired an arrow at several tentacles sent in her direction, dissipating them.

The arrow continued onwards, and struck Naraku in the left arm, tearing it away from his body.

Sesshomaru countered his own attacks with an adamant barrage. The spears of adamant lodged themselves in Naraku's chest, destroying his heart.

"Curse you...I CURSE YOU ALL TO HELL!!!" yelled Naraku as his battered body fell to the ground.

"Perhaps we shall one day join you there." proclaimed Sesshomaru as he advanced towards the fallen demon lord.

"In the name of Inuyasha...and Kikyo. Die." said Sesshomaru as he unleashed the wind scar against Naraku.

The demon lord let out one last agonizing howl as he was enveloped within the wind scar.

When the light faded, nothing remained of Naraku.

* * *

"Is he dead?" asked Kagome as she hurried over to join up with Sesshomaru.

"I'm pretty sure that he is. But not positive." replied the demon lord.

He glanced over to where Miroku sat, staring at his cursed hand, with Sango taking a peek.

"The wind tunnel, it's gone! Naraku is dead!" they both proclaimed happily, looking over to Sesshomaru.

Suddenly, the souls left both Sesshomaru and Kagome. Suddenly exhausted, the two of them watched as Inuyasha and Kikyo ascended into heaven together, and for forever.

Sesshomaru hissed as Tetsuiga's barrier began to burn his hand. He dropped the sword on the ground in disgust.

Kagome turned away from him to look at her family, and let a soft, sad sigh escape from her lips.

The dog demon turned his attention to her, and looked to where she was looking.

Sighing himself, he unsheathed his Tensiega. Hopefully, they were not too late to revive them....
